Reviews of Bakery Brera & Fine Foods Pte Ltd
Takeaway almond croissant ($5.50), was extremely good. Their popular Kouign-amann was sold-out, I'll be back.
Very good pastries here! I tried the kouign-amann, cruffin, plain croissant, and the basque burnt cheesecake (all signatures according to the website)! I enjoyed all of them thoroughly. The plain croissant was flaky and delicious, and the kouign-amann was not overly sweet and cooked perfectly. Those were my two favorites. I enjoyed the cruffin and cheesecake as well though, but the cheesecake was a tad boring tastewise—nothing extreme that blew me away. For the cruffin, I think it was the rum that just gave it a slightly odd aftertaste. Still worth a try though! I think I grabbed the last one, so it is definitely popular.

7 May 23: I bought some scones for my cousin. She is a scones lover, and she mentioned that bakery brera has one of the best scone!
Love the pastries at Baker Brera.
Bought quite a few varieties to try, and I like their cruffins so much, esp the pandan kaya ones.
Will definitely go back for more if there's opportunities.
My former flatmate highly recommended this bakery and their cruffin and bread are really nice, indeed!
4/8/2020: my roommate bought a slide of matcha burnt cheesecake for my birthday, it tastes really good even the cheesy feeling is not so clear (maybe because of matcha)
Each week I went to market and drop by for a kind of bread: ciabatta and pain au levain are so nice, can make wonderful sandwich with them or can eat with soup!
Owner and staff are super nice and on Sundays, I often see a cashier boy, small but fast at maths with great manners!
Yesterday (2/9/2020), I visited the bakery in the afternoon for the first time to get baguette for today breakfast, personally I like the vibe and many choices of bread and pastries in the morning (around 10a.m), their pain au chocolat is nice as well (it is quite big for the afternoon tea break, though:)
The Kouign Amann is awesome for its perfect texture and sweetness!
Nice and convenient bakery with a wide range of freshly baked breads, pastries and cakes. Do try the Sourdough right out of the oven - one of the few sourdoughs that tastes right. Also some great choices on open faced grilled breads. Definitely a place I love to visit.
This bakery's breads are very nice. I absolutely recommend this bakery. Especially, I love brioche loaf, baguette, bacon epi, croissant, pains au chocolat, brownie, basque cheesecake etc... If you bring some container or plastic bag for breads, this shop give you a few cents discount.
Love all the freshly baked & glazed bakeries. HOWEVER, be prepared to pay a premium price for them.
Prices range from S$3.80 onwards for Crossiants, Buns, Tarts, Cakes and from S$14.00 onwards for assorted favoured sourdough loaves.
It is luxury treat for any afternoon tea party :)
Great cakes and bakes! Customer service was very helpful and friendly staff! Got the original basque cheesecake but Will be back again to try more bakes (cruffins and croissants) :)
Lovely neighborhood bakery with friendly staff (most of the time).
The shop is a bit small and there is not a big spread but it's for the better, at least it's fresh most days for most items but not all items are worth it there.
Decent bread talk like pastries (pricier side) as well as cheesecake (I prefer the original even though other flavours are good too). The cherry pie was excellent warmed up a little bit in the oven at home before eating. For the bread itself It's above above average but there are two other bakeries nearby who offer bread as good as in France.
For some reasons, it's very famous across the island? I live nearby so it's convenient but I was surprised that most Singaporean I talked to know this place like it was some sort of luxury bakery, definitely decent but not the best.
Repeated purchase!
Always excited for their cruffin flavour of the month 🤭 love the strawberry danish – it’s super light.
Kouign amann and mushroom onion danish were exceptionally delicious as well! 🥺
One step into this small neighborhood bakery and the intoxicating smell of buttery pastries overwhelms you. The selection of available breads is amazing! Their specialty is of course the Cruffin, the lovechild of a croissant and a muffin. Having only space for one, I tried the Kouign Amann which was fresh from the oven, and I loved how the sweetness of sugar, the richness of butter and crispiness of crust melded so well in creating the quintessential first bite into a piece of perfectly executed pastry.
OMG! Texture was super soft and once u bite into it, you taste the amazing bread and sweetness of the glazed outer crust... Perfection....
Bought the Bacon Potato Danish as well but didn't manage to take a photo as I ate it straight away, these 2 breads are my favorite...
Their croissant were such good quality that when I threw it into my microwave to reheat the next day, it doesn't flatten at all and retains it's fluffyness.
Prices will sound expensive for just bread, but I can tell you this is not just any bread shop u find under the HDB. Totally worth it.
Food hunt all the way to Farrer Rd to try some highly recommended bakery especially cruffins. Tasty, fluffy and fresh but pricey for some items.
The bakes here are so good! Only outdoor seatings but nice place to chill. Remember to ask the shop keeper to warm up your croissants for a hug from within
First and foremost, I would like to thank Ying Ying for her help with my order. I was glad that I managed to get the pastries in time for my nephews & niece.
A good selection of pastries. I really enjoyed the crossiant. It was really flaky & tasted good on its own.
Good first experience buying from Bakery Brera! Staff were super helpful and friendly, recommendations were good too!
Got three flavours of the cruffins (PBJ, Chocolate & one more haha!) as well as a Kouign-amann, a sweet pastry made with layers of dough. The infused sugar in every layer tasted really good, happy with my purchase!
Planning my next visit to try more items! ^^
Heard about their croissants and decided to buy some from my friends and I. They are huugggee and the almond ones added an extra crunch to it. Also bought croffins (croissant x muffin) which is an ideal afternoon snack with sweet filling inside like Ferraro rocher, peanut butter and jam, etc. they were nice to provide me with added small boxes and plastic bags.
hot cross buns are great
But the croissant is super fluffy and crispy
Definitely coming back for more croissant
Parking is convenient
Staff is vr friendly
Place - small
Q - you have GOT to be PATIENT
Food - had the Baguette with Bratwurst - my mind went 🤯 got the Ondeh2 cake, let's see. But to put into perspective (size) the machine made coffee was legit expensive. I saw the cup size, my mind went 🤯 too.
Other plus - this place! Eye candies aplenty. Even the staff were candified visually too 😅
The wonderful aroma of bread hits you upon arrival into this bakery located in an old HDB housing estate along Farrer Road. The bakery is old school, cramped with different artisanal breads and pastries along its dimly lighted spaces. Enjoyed their buttery croissants, pain au chocolate, kouign-amann and sweet almond croissants. Watch for their seasonal specials. Tried the mochi croissant, a national day special and it was so yummy!
Kouign-amann here is the best in sg. I loved the burnt cheesecake. Ham and cheese croissant was great too. The cruffin was nothing to shout about though.
Yeah they taste good, but they need to improve their service even with the high customer demand. It's also a bit more on the expensive side compared with the other small-scale bakeries.
Small batch hand made artisan bakery beside empress market and food centre. Good long fermented croissants, flaky and buttery! Good brioche and Pandesals too. Perfect place for your bread coma. Dapao and go empress market lim kopi.
My favourite bakery!! Love their kaya / lemon curd cruffins. And would also recommend the shio pan, croissants and vegetarian foccacia
Great little bakery. Breads, cakes and croissants are really good. The BEST burnt cheesecake I've ever had! 😋
Surprisingly, the VERY-VERY good bakery. Great sourdough, tasty pastry.
Excellent sourdough. Tangy, chewy & with a good crust. However, it's rather pricey.
First time trying out this bakery. Fantastic but I still prefer the Kouign-amann from TBB.
Kouign amann was really good! Cruffin and banana choc pain au chocolat were decent but not as outstanding. Will be back to try more of their bakes
Gourmet bakery in neighbour
Price is gourmet standard
Taste is gourmet standard too
Small stool n table like old days
Great bakery items.
Reasonable prices.
They have a donation table too where they let people what they need. Nice touch
Definitely one of the better few bakeries in Singapore.
Kouign-Amann crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Amount of sugar is just nice.
Nice variety, it’s like Tiong Bahru bakery but better
Probably the best bakery in sg. Expect crowds and above average prices
Heard a lot of good reviews about this bakery. I guess just normal only? Might order if I’m in the area but not via delivery, there’s better bakeries around
The most amazing bakery in town have been going here for the past five years and am impressed.I used to live in Europe and the croissants here are contestable to the ones in Europe. The service is amazing and i love the owner she is so nice and friendly. One of the few bakeries in sg that are actually worth to go to.
Canele: 5 stars
I love caneles, and this is one of the best I've had. Generous creamy custard filling.
Rye Loaf with Sundried Tomatoes: 5 stars
Still soft when I bought and ate it at 11am on a Sunday morning. Texture and light savoury flavour were flawless.
Banana Walnut Muffin: 4 stars
Would be 5 stars if it was less sweet.
Taro Mochi Double-Baked Croissant: 3.75 stars
Ate this without re-toasting and the pastry is soggy not crisp, but the taro paste and mochi filling is delicious. Minus 0.25 stars because this costs almost $8!! Not a big fan of the purple “taro crumble” on top, I could do without that. In terms of double-baked fancy croissants, I think Alice Boulangerie at Tanjong Pagar does em more crispy (even when not reheated).
Hot Cross Buns: 3.75 stars
Texture is nice and soft, and the spices and dried fruit are lovely. But at this stage in my life, this type of bread as a snack is just too sweet for me.
Cranberry Flax Seed Sourdough Loaf: 3.5 stars
Spinach Croque Monsieur: 2.5 stars
Tasted dry (both the bread and cheese) and lacking in flavour after I re-toasted it at home. Should I just have eaten it cold and with the cheese crusted?
Next to try: Cruffin, Sourdough
Located in the block next to the Empress mkt.
Small shop bakery.
Pix below: from left: Scone with ham $3, cruffin $5.10.
Bakery is extra good tho pretty pricey. Too bad it is not accompanied by good coffee. I wish they open space for dining in because some of the bread needs to be enjoyed/consumed while fresh.
New find for us as we were looking for a place to get breakfast to feed the Groom’s party of our kid's wedding. We did a phone order and followed with email confirmation the day before the wedding. The pastries are great. 5 stars!
Tried their bakes for the first time and absolutely loved them!
Would recommend the following:
- Plain croissant
- Pain au chocolat
- Spinach bechamel croque monsieur
- Triple cheese croissant (with ham)
- Mint chocolate cruffin
- Ferrero cruffin
Thank you for the awesome pastries ❤️ yes they're somewhat pricey but definitely great value for money for the quality you're going to get.
An inconspicuous bakery with yummy pastries. I've been back a few times, and the croissants do not disappoint. I don't typically enjoy cruffins but they have decent ones. Staff is helpful and cheery in general but it's a self-service place so it's not a focus.
It is rare for me to buy cakes but when I came to this store, I was greeted very warmly by a lady whom recommended me on the choices that they have. The prices were reasonable as they are baked freshly daily. I would return again one day to try their cross buns which are their best seller!
Their breads are the best I've had in Singapore, esp their croissant and sourdough. If you have a sweet tooth, their kouign amann and cruffins (I love the lemon one for the slight tartness that balances out the sweetness) are mad good.
My family’s favourite bakes. The crossiants and hot cross buns spells happiness. 🥰
I discovered this bakery after a run, and I have come to really like the croissant. It's not the super lightest, but I like the buttery note (best enjoyed with coffee).
I have also tried the pain au chocolate, lemon and matcha cruffin, Ferrero Rocher cruffin and baguette. These are okay, but they did not rock my world.
Prices are on the high side, and the shop is tiny so don't expect to take your own sweet time choosing :).
I do like the friendly service. I'll come back for the croissant. Simple pleasures are the best.
The Danish pastry was nicer than the crossoiants. The supposedly-famed burnt cheese cake was good but didn't cut a remarkable memory. The Walnut bread was our best choice.
Quaint shop in an old heartland, the bakery evoked an old school charm, but it will be more assuring if protective practices can be considered. Display of breads & pastries were pretty much left uncovered, even during this pandemic times.
Not sure if they adopted a new business directive where they help you with your choices instead of self service but the young man serving us could have been more informative, instead of hovering around inspecting our actions. That service behavior was pretty uncalled for.
Bit on the pricey side but the breads and pastries are fabulous here! We look forward to coming here whenever we’re taking the cat to the vet next door.
The sourdough bread is beautifully baked - crispy chewy crust and soft on the inside. Usually buy one get it sliced then keep in the freezer.
We came late in the day and tried an assortment of pastries, they all tasted good and were generously filled! They would probably taste even better if we came when they were freshly baked or if we brought it home to heat it up.
3 Sep Review: Quality and yummy bakes, absolutely no doubt on that. I would give it 5 stars. My family loves their almond crossiant!
However, I think their online customer service has a lot of room for improvement.
Personally I feel that “Hi”, “Please”, “Thank you”, “Sorry” are very basic customer service etiquettes.
Unfortunately, I do not see this in the few exchanges I had with them for their flash sales via IG DM.
Disappointing experience.
Updated 9 Sep: after communicating to the service gap with Thrina, I ordered via the IG flash sales today. The gaps are rectified. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The smell of freshly-baked breads and pastries covers the area, and their products are so tasty. One should consider buying them while they are hot and fresh. It will always be my favorite bakery in Singapore.
Recently, I’ve began to find the quality of the pastries and bread diminishing. The danishes tend to harden very fast and the olive bread lacks flavour.
I have feedback it to the management team and i have been given an opportunity to try the same pastries again. 5/5 service, but unfortunately it remains lacklustre.
Overall, decent bread, but I will expect a lot more for what I’m paying.
They have a wide range of different pastries to choose from, if it's your first time visit, I recommend to try out their kouign amann and burnt cheesecake! Really buttery taste for the kouign amann, my favorite from them!👌👌 Their burnt cheesecake uses really premium ingredients, it's so creamy that it just melts in your mouth! Remember to go there early!
A bit chaotic on a midday Sunday, but also a good time to come to avoid the morning queue. Matcha cruffin, peanut butter and jam cruffin get seal of approval. Plain croissant, also good and regular choc chip muffin is a nice kid size.
A few small tables outside, but it's really a place to take away your order or order to be delivered really. The people who queue will be staring at you and what you're eating, if you decide to make use of the outside tables :)
Read somewhere Brera is the benchmark for a good croissant in Singapore, so you won't be wrong to give the place a try.
There is a long time I have not bought so much pantry.. I bought 6 different pantry, mostly savory one, I think is fair to say is one of the best I tried, normally I am very fussy in temperature, crispness of the pantry, I will toast again to eat, but these pantry is already delicious to eat it cold..♡ AMAZING!
Probably one of the best baguettes in SG, nothing fancy, just the way they do it in France. Prices lower than most bakeries in Singapore.
Croissants are good although not as good as TBB. Yet a much better option than ABC bakery for instance.
Open early too which is convenient to get fresh bread at breakfast.
If you are within walking distance, it’s really a blessing to have this bakery in your hood! Everything from the essentials (Baguette, sourdoughs, croissants etc.) to treats to festive baked goods. Great quality and friendly staff! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love Bakery Brera's European breads made with French T65, T150 flours etc, especially their Pain de Campagne, Pain au Levain, Pain aux Sundried Tomato and Ciabatta. Baked to a healthy light golden colour, the breads have wonderful flavours and texture, without becoming hard and dry after refrigeration (when stored in a plastic bag over the paper bag).
I've been patronising this bakery for 3 months and only have good words for their customer-focused service. Really happy to have found my go-to bakery (I do not live in the neighbourhood)!
The cruffins are truly to die for!!!!! Though, I’m a little sad that they discontinued the chocolate cuffins... The crossiants are also really good!!! Everything was adorable as well! Will highly recommend anyone who loves bread and pasteries!!!
Authentic French bakery housed near Empress Market. Convenient and fresh!!!
A good selection of choice pastries!
Came here before 9am and there wasnt a queue yet. The croissant and other pastries are as good as from petit pain. The price is above average.
My favourite place for breads, buns and their cruffins!
Delicious bakery products, albeit a little expensive. They carry a wide range of bakery products, and I'm looking forward to trying out more of them. Highly recommended.
Decadent pastries.
Updated with photos from a return visit.
Hidden gem inside the HDB market. Fresh pastries (much less butter compared to other "premium" shops!) with premium ingredients!
Tried the croissant and pain au chocolat, felt that it’s normal considering the hype around it. Not value for money.
I thought the kouign Aman will be rich and delicious but alas it is not to be.. just not enough good rich butter!
Their bakes are amazing. Love their service and will definitely come back again :-)
Best bakery we have found in Singapore so far. Not cheap but worth it.
Tell me to inform them eariler if I m eating here repeatly. I find that the cake filling is a bit dry.
not bad but the prices are considerably high. coffee could be much much better..
Excellent baked good and ownership!
