Reviews of Keong Saik Bakery
Came here for the Black Sesame French Toast ($15.90) and it was definitely worth it! The paste was super rich and nutty, and I couldn’t get enough of it.
They have many other good pastries too, so do give them a try.

Come here in the morning to celebrate my birthday. Ordered seashore cake (abit salty mousse and earl grey cake) and hot latte. The cake (imo) is quiet nice because the sweetness is fit my palate (im not a sweet-tooth) and soft, it fits me well, and the latte just nice. The servise was so extra! They gave me mini bday deco on top of the cake and took some pictures of me. Will visit another time to try another menus. Also the new place is quiet cozy.
A quiet place, pastries are good. Seating and ordering are self service.
Had salmon kouign amann which was too sweet imo. It was a mixture of sweet and savory but i wld prefer if it was more savory. Next was the biscoffee croissant which was decent, though a little too sweet. Also had the muah chee croissant cube which i rly loved. The mixture of muah chee inside rly up the flavor.
However, the matcha latte we had was thick but “sandy” as if it wasnt grounded well enough.
We went around 12pm noon on Saturday where it wasnt as crowded yet but 1pm onwards, it was very crowded
Took away a few of their tarts and was amazed even after keeping out for some time, hardness of the tart was still sturdy and taste of the cream was still as flavourful and distinct. Love this Mugi Tart flavour (genmaicha and barley) and the smell of natural roasted matcha with bitty bites fragrance smell of barley, indeed they made it so yummy and original nature flavored! 💚🥧
Other tarts were already in stomach wo photos, but definitely worth the try!
First time here at new Luzerne outlet. Atmosphere is great, many space but limited seats compared to the coming crowd. Ordered the Iced Mocha, Osmanthus Lychee Cake and Ebi Katsu Sando. Iced Mocha is an upgrade of Neslo at kopitiam, exactly as stated in the menu, haha. Osmanthus cake is recommended for those who likes strong flower fragrant. Ebi Katsu is savoury and nice for an afternoon brunch.
Things to comment about is that the operation is very bad. Free seatings without any staff guidance whether to order first or find a seat first (would recommend to find seats first). No staffs will come and clean your table unless you call for the correct staff. Serving staffs will just nod and go back to the coffee bar and continue making their drinks. I only had my table clean when the food server came and there's no clean spot to place my food. A ticket number is given after ordering at counter, and the serving staffs will be holding the food and checking every table for the number. Very messy.
Only left with a tray of pastry when I came 2pm on a PH. So recommend to come early. Hope that things are just because its new (only open few days) and not organise. Will be back in future and hope they improves.
We tried their chocolate indulgence ($7.20) cake and pango tart. Quite nice but idk if it’s worth coming back again for it.
Cafe was spacious and offered free flow lemon water
Great variety of pastries with local fusion options.
The pastries are good with consistent standard. Just a personal preference, the croissant are not very buttery and moist to my liking. Love the Orh Nee Croissant Cube with nice yam paste inside.
A well hidden gem within Keong Saik Road. Nice ambience and very friendly Front of House staffs. It is really a nice place to spend an hour to enjoy the atmosphere.
Food wise, Simply love the bakes. Rich in flavour and almost full marks to texture on the bakes ordered today.
Will definately be back for the other flavours.
really interesting flavours and great variety! we got a taro cake and butterfly pea cake, as well as a dirty matcha and mocha. the cakes were decent, and i would visit again just to try out the unique flavours!
YES - chicken floss with smashed crossaint
- minimalist ambiance and ample seats
- friendly staff
NO - latte - diluted
Pastries were not bad but drinks were overpriced given it’s robusta beans. Kopi o was $3.80, cold brew was $6.90 and tasted exactly like kopi peng. 😄
Got the taro croissant cube and was pretty delighted! Love the taro paste, texture was smooth and creamy, while maintaining its natural flavour, not artificially flavoured and processed. The pastry was so tender and flaky, I absolutely love it. Immediately wanted to order more of their other creations to try. One downside may be the price, each pastry costs around $7, which is pretty pricey for such a small piece. Also, I wasn’t a fan of their latte. It’s like local kopi + fresh milk. I wish they serve normal Americano/latte etc instead of just locally inspired creations.
It's pretty pricey and while the flavours are original and familiar, I'm not wowed by it. Not sure if I hyped myself up while browsing their Instagram prior to buying but nothing impressed me.
The Sor Hei, black and white pastry was so confusing to consume. Why is it even popular? The black dough is dry and hard while the white dough is okay, with them intertwined it's a weird mix and there's no filling so it was basically a flakey plain bun dressed up to look pretty.
May try the cakes next time as the flavours interest me but so far not impressed by the pastries.
The famous Keong Saik Bakery that used to be at Keong Saik Road have recently moved to their new place at Luzerne building.
This new place is so much spacious, and nicely design. The is 2 rows of huge display of all their bakeries which makes you wanna try them all once you see it.
This time round, we ordered the Toffee Pecan Cake during their after lunch hour (2pm to 5pm) which comes with a free drink of out choice for SGD5 or below.
We choose the hot latte for the drink choice.
Overall, its pretty satisfactory except the fact that we are a lil shock to know that we paid close to SGD10 for a small slice of cake. Lucky the coffee is free during our time of visit. 😆

Food —— Personally prefer the cakes here than pastries 🤭 Especially their latest Lychee Osmanthus Cake 🍰✨ The Miso Kouign Amann is really crispy with a salty touch 👅 Noting how three of us @fatpigdiary @sweetsncrackers all gotten the iced lychee lemon tea - it’s a favorite and best for the hot weather 🍋
Ambience —— The new space is much more spacious with a unique gallery layout catering to the takeaway crowd 🥰 and giving attention and reverence towards their pastries and cake 🙌
Went there during my teatime
The taromisu is surprisingly nice but the Pulau tart was too sourrrrrrrrr
It is spacious compared to other cafe. It is nice to read a book or have a drama or chitchat with your friends during teatime
Tried some items from the new branch in Bendemeer. The Orh nee tart and mango passion fruit tart were both very mediocre. The yam topping was really dry and quite crumbly vs being creamy and the mango tart was too sweet and watery, the filling didn't hold up well when cut apart. The tart base was also a little hard and tasteless.
The cafe's ambience and aesthetic was quite quiet and nice. Service was a little slow and the girl manning the counter took a few tries to confirm what was in stock vs not. Overall not a horrible experience but I would get my treats elsewhere.
What a wonderful buzz this place has!
It was crowded on a public holiday.
A good selection of menu from pastry to drinks but lacking savoury and cold treats.
Many of the famous pastries were sold out by the time we arrive. Congrats to the team.
Decided to hop over after lunch at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre. Place is pretty nice and cosy, and just a short walk from Boon Keng MRT station. Taromisu and Dirty Matcha Latte are both tasty. Looking forward to my next visit to Keong Saik Bakery!
The kids like the pastry cuase it taste good and unique. The overall food is very pricey considering the location is around neighbourhood. There are not much sitting area.
First time dropping by to have simple desserts with friend. The shop is quite small and the echo with many people make the place sound rowdy.
Ordered the Bandung Rose Cheese and Pango tarts. Tart itself is good, solid textured and buttery taste. Unlike those soft soggy type.
Combination of Bandung Rose Cheese is brilliant, light and not too sweet.
Pango tasted lemony with mango. Too sour in my opinion.
Tried the Two-faced basque burnt cheesecake. Melty smooth and rich cheese, but i thought the taste of the original cheese layer can be stronger. Matcha layer is not bad, can taste the matcha, but personally prefer a stronger taste. Overall, not bad. Also tried their original and matcha cruffins (the hybrid of a muffin and a croissant). Was told to heat it after storing them in the fridge for a next day consumption but i was too lazy to warm it up. The cheese layer was melty the day i bought it and obviously harden after a night in the fridge. Prefers the matcha cruffin because other than the original cheesecake layer (which is what that fills the original cruffin) underneath, there's the rich and strong matcha thick sauce (?) layer above that gives that delightful bitter aftertaste, which is perfect when taken together with the slight sweet cheese layer underneath. The croissant is crispy, but can be more buttery to complement the sweet cheesecake within. Overall, pretty good but $6 for one cruffin is I thought a little pricey.
If you like western dessert but remixed in Asian style , then this place is definitely for you. Not my personal taste so I give 3 stars. However I am sure that many will like!
Loved the local flavors in the cruffins and croissant cubes! Didn't have ondeh² with croissant before but the flavour was definitely there, and it wasn't artificial.
Good place to try out croissants with local flavors! If you want more angmoh type croissant then their competitor is just opposite.😂
had the cake combo (there's a $1 discount) n quite like it. seashore 2.0 taste was quite unexpected n a suprise? i like the latte (normal sweet) :)
Interesting menu that is uniquely Singaporean. Infused with a lot of local flavours, this bakery is a must try if you are along Keong Saik road. I highly recommend the muah chee pastry and sor hei bun. Goes very well with tea or coffee.
Nice environment with good Nanyang coffee. Bread here is interesting. Ordered Sor Hei and Croque Monsieur with coffee and tea as breakfast sets. The soft boil eggs came nicely done. Indoor seats here are limited though and can only take up till around 10+ people.
Recently they changed layout and new furniture after visiting on 12 Oct 2020.
price for cake is on high side
pastries 🥐 is good 👍🏼
cake is too thick and feel abit too queasy . the flavour however is just right . highly recommend to share with two pax .
staff is very patience and listen to our request.
not crowded no waiting required
Nice food. Signing up membership got a set of free Kaya butter toast set.
Orh Nee Tart & SeaShore 2.0 are superb👍🏻
Not a fan of their Sor Hei but the Miso Kouign Amann is good! Will be back to try more of their signatures/ limited editions pastries 🍰
The display of croissants was aesthetically pleasing, there was no queue, and the service was prompt.
the mac and cheese was good and otak added a unique taste. their ordering system is complicated for the cashier, so queue time was long.
Highly recommend their sea salt cake and cold brew. Will be back again => update: went back today for the seashore cake but today the cake doesn't taste much sea salt.. hope next time I order again will be nicer.. staff is very kind and love the atmosphere here as the music is not loud at all
Burnt cheese cake is really nice. Highly recommended ! Mocha is also good. No complaints except the seating area is too little. Seats outside are really warm during the day. Will be back to try other pastry.
Indeed an affordable place for coffee, in fact their beverages could had cost $4-5!!! But surprisingly it's only $1.5-$2 plus! Cakes were reasonable price! Nice cosy place though can be packed during peak hours!
Lovely place .. serve one of the best cakes and Pastery!!!! Must try if you are round the corner.
Orh ni lovers must come and have very interesting cakes and nice coffee.
the chendol cake's a bit too sweet, but it's good. it's their variety of bread that's the winner.
Update: the smell of the soap/disinfectant inside was too much, enough to make you want to finish the dessert and head out. Ambience still matters
New industrial look with same good bakes and coffee. Nice place to chill if you are around Bendemeer area… 🍰 ☕️
Unique, Origin & so Asian = LOVE IT!
SOR HEI (Cantonese. 梳起, mean that woman that decided not to get married forever.), the shop signature bread. I love to see when we asian create our own things base on own culture. I bought extra one for my dear neighbor Aunty Jo.. she laughed the moment she saw the outlook of the bread.. it's like a magic bread that can brings people joy by just look at it. After tried the bread.. it's like croissant but it is not too sweet or too oily or even too Chocolatey. N I C E! Be honest.. bit pricey. Others is all good.
Strongly recommend their Walnut +Balck Sesame Croissant 🥐 if you are a black sesame lover.
Kindly note that no dine-in is available.
Been a regular on Keong Siak area and didn’t know this shop exists! This is a modern kopi-o shop which sells awesome bread and coffee.
This is the alternative of Tong Ya along the same stretch!
Reached 11:30AM, run out of durian brunt cheese cake, bought a original one, abit overpriced for the portion.
Too sweet for my liking, very mild of cheese taste. The texture is very smooth and creamy, the lemon zest feel refreshing but till can’t manage to finish it cause is too sweet.
Cakes are not cheap. Tried the Seashore 2.0 and Matcha cakes, taste is good but I find that it would be better if the texture of the cakes are slightly firmer.
Craving for burnt cheesecake that I had at the old venue. This new outlet is much more spacious and has a modern contemporary vibe. Had the same wonder signature burnt cheesecake with kopi susu - complemented each other so well.
Today is the last day, they are relocating. Will miss the black sesame pastries, such as the black sesame croissant we had today was yummy.
Got ourselves the orh nee croissant cube which was really crispy on the outside and flavourful on the inside. Yam was sweet and flavourful.
A very decent bakery shop in a nice area. Basque burnt cheese cake ain’t bad but highly recommend sesame croissant.
Seats could be comfier but otherwise overall provided great pastries. I’ll be back to try their coffee and other food sometime.
With the recent trend in Burnt Cheesecake, Keong Saik Bakery has launched a PANDAN Burnt Cheesecake last week! The cafe with the MOST NUMBER of Burnt Cheesecake such as:
.
1️⃣ Pandan Burnt Cheesecake (SGD 8) ⭐️ - 4 types of cheese with distinctive Pandan notes and a smooth and creamy texture that isn’t overly sweet!
2️⃣ Coco Burnt Cheesecake (SGD 8) - Coconut Burnt cheesecake with coconut crumble
3️⃣ Two-Face (SGD 8.50) ⭐️ - 2-in-1 flavour (Matcha + Original) where you get a balance of sweet and earthly matcha flavours in one bite. The texture has improved to be more lava and molten!
4️⃣ Burnt Cheesecake (SGD 7.50) ⭐️ - Made using 4 different types of cheese with distinctive layers of fluffy cheesecake and smooth, creamy cream cheese! Possibly the BEST Burnt Cheesecake I had in Singapore!
5️⃣ Matcha Burnt Cheesecake (SGD 8) ⭐️ - Matcha is quite distinctive and not too bitter (because it will become overly bitter due to the burnt layer)
Matcha cheesecake, cactus tart, mentaiko cheese cube and kouignn amann are some of my go-to items here. Lovely ambience, stellar bakes and pretty good service. Amazing place for a quiet catchup.
$7 for 1 cup of coffee. Bad breakfast. Norm coffee. Good relax ambience. Not coming back
Excellent cakes, and I love the way they display their pastries on plinths like precious museum artifacts. Definitely elevates the presentation and mystique.
Liked:
- Classic burnt cheesecake. The perfect consistency and balance of sweetness and richness, though the "burnt" part could have been even more caramelised.
- Matcha roll cake. I'm not usually a fan of matcha but the matcha character of the cake was present without being overwhelming.
Very pricy. $14 for these four very little things. Want try due to popular. It is very very mini, just stuffed with sweet thing inside. Not recommended.
Despite the Wuhan virus, this place continues to be packed with snaking queues (mostly young people in their 20s) on weekends. Two-face basque cheesecake looked interesting. Distinctly burnt caramelised surface and a very creamy yet firm interior.
Also had the Sor-Hei but that was a little disappointing. Pastry was fresh and flaky, but it’s quite plain. Would’ve preferred more chocolate filling.
Visited this bakery in the early of the morning and I was served with an utterly BURNT MSW cruffin by the lady at the counter. The smell of the burnt, charred, bitter taste have ruined my mood, I can't enjoy this pastry There are so many cruffin on display, why would you not serve me with a better one in the morning to cheer me up
Stumbled upon this cafe when I was around the area. They appear to have relocated from their original Keong Saik Rd outlet plus a refreshed, modernised look! (Located right across from SYIP Luzerne)
It seems like not everyone is a fan of the limited seating here, but I gotta say I'm a huge fan of the spaciousness that this outlet provides. As the tables are spaced out nicely here, dining in has been quite a comfortable experience for me.
Pastries were good as usual. They also serve sandos/sandwiches here, and currently runs a lunch hour promotion.
Had the Seashore 2.0 (butterfly pea with seasalt) for $9.18. It wasn't too sweet nor creamy as per the service crew's recommendation. The density of the cake was just nice and the taste of earl grey lingered in my mouth after each bite. There wasn't much of a seasalt taste, which was a little disappointing. Overall, it was well done but towards the last few bites, it became a bit rich for me.
The price for the set is quite misleading. it's not a set, it's the toast itself. so the actual set with toast, eggs and kopi is $10. it's pretty good, just wish the prices are more transparent.
I needed a birthday cake and was able to get the chocolate indulgence (ganache) cake on the day. Even thought it was frozen cake, the cake was good! Just have to defrost it before serving. makes for 10-12 slices
I had recently gone to Keong Saik Bakery in Holland Village and had a generally good experience. Super unfortunate that this location is not as good . The Biscoff Croissant we had was burnt and didn’t taste like Biscoff at all . The filling was chocolate. The coffee also could be better …
Keong Saik Bakery in Singapore is a hidden gem! The food is simply divine. The freshly baked pastries are a treat for the senses, with their delicate flakiness and irresistible aroma. The variety of flavors and fillings, from classic croissants to unique local-inspired creations, make for an exciting culinary adventure. The cozy ambiance and friendly service add to the overall experience. Don't miss out on trying their signature kaya coconut buns and matcha croissants – they are absolutely delightful! A must-visit for foodies and pastry lovers alike. Highly recommended! 5/5 stars
The bakery offers an array of delectable treats such as the Matcha-Choco Croissant, Burnt Cheese Cruffin, and Kouign Amann. Among these, the Kouign Amann stands out as particularly flavorful and exceptional. Additionally, the Burnt Cheese Cruffin was a pleasant surprise that left me eager to revisit the bakery. Overall, a highly recommended spot.
Yummy cakes and pastries. The two faced basque burnt cheesecake is a must try!
Lovely old style cafe with air-conditioned comfort, and friendly staff. Great coffee, cakes and pastries.
Today I had a chance to try the desserts from this shop. Overall they were okay but not wow-worthy. Or have to go back again? The price is considered expensive to a certain extent 😅 My favorite is probably EARL GRAY.
LAVENDER CRUFFIN $5.7 Crispy croissant The filling inside is okay. Another item is MUAH CHEE croissant cubes.
CROISSANT CUBE $6.4 This one is quite expensive if compared to the quality and deliciousness 😂 You don't have to try this one. The next one is the CROLL croissant roll.
Croissant Roll, mini size, 5 flavors available: Pistachio Praline | Milo | Cacio e Pepe | Genmaicha | Kaya Lychee, each piece is $4 (1pc) | If you buy a set of 4 pieces, $14.5, crispy croissants with delicious filling inside. But it doesn't smell as fragrant as other shops I've tried. The last piece is BURNT CHEESE CRUFFIN $6.4 if compared to the price. and taste and quality It's quite expensive because you won't be wowed and feel confused 😅 The shop has tables to sit inside. There are quite a few drinks for sale, cookies, tarts, and cakes to try. Anyone who goes to take photos at the Head Potato building, try walking a little further up and you'll find this shop.
Came here 2 days in a row
The price is reasonable and there is no tax or service charge
The small details of the baking are all done very well and they are really attentive.
The food is heated before it is served to give guests the best temperature for the bread.
The drinks combine Eastern and Western cultures and the food is so delicious
Will definitely come often!
We kept came this 2 days,
Price reasonable with No 7% GST and No 10% service charge,
Baked detail did very well,
Always heated pastry before served, Give foods best temperature for customers, Drinks Combining Eastern and Western Cultures, All the foods and drink too good and too delicious.
The shop is cute. Seating is limited to 1 hour per table.
There's wifi available for use. When you get lost, you can sit and eat snacks and coffee, air conditioner and continue your journey. It's good.
I recommend their Matcha Swiss Roll. It has a light green tea fragrance, not too sweet, and the cream in the middle has the bitter taste of Matcha, which is just right. The Rosa Mary tart is sprinkled with slightly salty cheese, which is just right. The burnt cheese cake is a little sweet, not very outstanding.
The service attitude is very good and the food is very light.
Excellent traditional breakfast in this small, well-kept and clean place in the Chinatown district.
