I should have requested to make my order crispier and add extra peanut butter (with an additional charge, of course), as the standard amount they provided was not enough for me to taste it. The waffle itself has a unique flavor; usually, regular waffles are dominated by sweetness, but this one has a slightly savory taste. It might be even better if they made it thicker👍
I appreciated the server; she was patient and friendly🫶
Very accessible place just a few steps away from the Maxwell MRT station exit.
The shop was quiet it's not a dine in place just the front counter where food is prepared for takeaways.
No one was in front until I called out for someone and the lady came out and took my order.
Was featured in food blogs sometime back about the waffles and one of the recommended was the taro waffles so I decided to come and give it a try. Haven't heard of any taro waffles elsewhere though.
Took my order and started preparing the waffles, and took about 10 minutes for the waffles to be ready and then she placed onto a blower to cool down the temperature of the waffles. As I noted from previous reviews she didn't use any gloves and she was just using her bare hands to transfer the waffles from the maker to the blower. A lady who was ordering noodles saw it and commented on it and she spoke in an unfriendly and harsh tone that she is very hygienic and she washed her hands before preparing. I wasn't so concerned about that so long I don't get any stomach upset after eating.
The waffles didn't look appealing at the first look of you ask me. I was quite disappointed when the waffles was handed over to me, but I was surprised after the 1st bite. It turned out to be quite crispy, was less hot though I would have preferred it to be more hot so it won't turn soggy fast.
She was quite generous with the taro filling I felt it was good enough for the waffles. I quite liked the taro paste as well. I have to say the taro taste is not the normal sweet kind but with mild sweetness and more of the shallot fragrance. It's the more traditional version which my grandmother would have made taro paste years back.
Not common but quite a old school or home cooked taste.
Decent for my palate and would probably drop by again if I am around the area. Would be better if the waffles is thicker. Would like to try some other flavours as well.
MIND. BLOWN. Still thinking about the ORH NEE waffles I tried from 小吃Small Bites! Been to Maxwell several times but only found out about this neighbourhood snack shop thanks to the algorithm. 🧇Aside from classic flavours like kaya and peanut butter, they have unique offerings like Orh Nee and Japanese Roasted Sesame. The best thing is, the auntie doesn't only spread the orh nee on one side of the waffle but BOTH sides, so it's chock full of taro goodness kiap-ed within a waffle! I enjoyed that the orh nee filling was the traditional kind whilst not too sweet, allowing the velvety texture and earthy flavours to shine. The infused shallot oil added a savoury decadence to the filling. 💜
Although on the thinner side, the waffle is huge (bigger than my face🤣) and chewy with a light pandan aroma! If you want your waffle toasted a lil more for the extra crisp, do let the auntie know in advance!
The kiosk also sells finger food like cheese tofu (my love btw) & seaweed chicken, as well as homemade beverages to pair your snacks with. Grab a bottle of Chrysanthemum Tea to beat the heat!

Soo many delicious and unique waffle flavors (like banana oatmeal, taro, along with the typical Kaya and peanut butter) and the waffle is moist and chewy and crunchy on the exterior. Not flimsy! Run by a super friendly lady, please come support this hidden gem!
The waffles are fragrant but u can ask auntie make burnt abit so more crispy. The orh née has onion fragrance. Quite a good piece of waffle. They have other flavours too. Worth a try if you are around the area.
Special flavour for waffles and it's crunchy. Taking taro and japanese roasted sesame flavour, it doesn't taste strong.
Nice auntie and nice waffles!
