Reviews of The Bar KAKURE
Classic vintage ambience Japanese bar with great spirits that can spice up a perfect evening.
Customer service is outstanding. Jazz music peps up the mood.
Interesting small speakeasy on the top floor of a Japanese restaurant - hidden behind an unassuming door that requires a code to be open. There are about 12 seats at the bar and a couple of small tables.
It’s a one-man show - one skilled bartender looking after everyone. The drink list includes classics, unique cocktails and rare spirits. We tried one polar bear ($28) and Moscow Mule ($28) both excellent and well balanced. The chocolate soufflé cake ($28) was very disappointing (hence why 4 stars) - it did not seem like a soufflé and was just ok in terms of taste. It was rich, so definitely enough for two people as stated on the menu, but not very good and too expensive. I’d come back for drinks and perhaps to try the savoury food options, but I recommend skipping desserts.
Lunch here was a stunner! The ingredients were fresh and generous, I had such a great time.
The star dish for me was the aburi otoro. Gentled charred under the perfected heated charcoal, topped with snow sea salt.
I'll definitely be back for more.
Limited seating space that can accommodate only 10-12 guests. Just as its name “Kakure” suggests “hidden place” in Japanese, it creates unique secret ambiance here.
As a bar, they provides limited options but omakase level of Japanese dishes. Unfortunately I didn’t have good appetite on the day visited, so did not really enjoy that much the 2 cocktails and 1 chirashi donburi I ordered.
I have been here more than a dozen times this year alone. Says a lot of the standard given that I am a picky eater and drinker. If authentic classic cocktails is what you are after, this spot never fails to deliver.
The vibe is…. Swanky. Intimate. Decadant. We got the Beauty and the Beast—one of their signature drinks which 16 yr old me who have gone crazy for. My dining partner enjoyed it. From the classics menu I ordered the Manhattan (with brown sugar as their special touch) which was boozey!! Before that I ordered the Samuri mule which was exceptionally refreshing. Even the wasbi nuts felt premium and the Chirashi Don was this mini bowl of deliciousness.
Awesome cocktail quality. Layer of flavours and it’s simply delicious! Go for the Japanese Original cocktails! Wasabi in a cocktail is a first for me.
Located in a hidden room above the Japanese restaurant Ki-Sho, Kakure is part of Singapore’s growing list of impressive Japanese-style cocktail bars. Unless you know Mika, you’ll need to make reservations to access Kakure. The wraparound windows behind the bar counter gives Kakure a residential and authentic Japanese feel to the bar. Bartender Kazuhiro Chii is a treat to watch as he skillfully and artistically stirs a dry Martini cocktail or shakes a seasonal fresh fruit cocktails. Other than the well-balanced drinks, expect some of the best bar food in Singapore such as the assortment of homemade pickles.
Top notch. Best draft beer in da world: SUNTORY. Will come back.
Chic bar with fancy seasonal drinks, super exclusive space with limited seats. Drinks were delicious and I’m already planning my next visit!
The cocktails here blow my mind
