Reviews of Daizu Cafe
Loved coming here. Vibe was on point, chill and relaxed, friendly staff and fast service.
You pay inside first and they bring the food to your table either inside or outside. Outside seating is dog friendly as well.
Loved the nice selection of japanese and western dishes, everything was fresh and delicious.
Strong recommendation for weekend eating with your pets and family.
Pet friendly cafe at the outdoor of this cozy area! Their menu has a very wide varieties of Japanese fusion food and desserts. We tried their specialties fries with umami sauces, you will like it if you eat fries with different type of sauces. The truffle flavour udon also very thick and creamy. The matcha dessert with vanilla ice cream is pretty satisfying too!
Happened to be nearby so tried this cafe as review was quite favourable.
It was empty at 2pm on a Monday afternoon.
Scan the QR code for menu and order at the cashier.
Food was ok. Slightly above average.
Drinks was ok too. Matcha 🍵 was not so strongly tasting. $7 per cup 😱
Price wise is on the higher side.
Am still deciding if it’s worth.
The cafe has a small frontage and gives an impression that it's a small place.
But once we went in, we were surprised with the spaciousness of the cafe and it has 2 levels of dining.
It's a Western and Japanese fusion cafe and we ordered a brunch set, a chicken don and noodles.
Overall taste is good and we will come back to try their RAW sets which are the chirashi dons the next time.
Went on a quiet Monday afternoon during late lunch / brunch hour so, the vibes were really nice during that time.
The food is not bad, we ordered the Breakfast Medley, Osaka Fries, Philly Cheesesteak Roll and Chawanmushi. The most memborable food items are the Osaka Fries and the Chawanmushi - they were so delicious! The breakfast medley was not bad (really loved the egg) but the Philly Cheesesteak was a bit overwhelming for us (we're not usually the type to eat heavy sauced foods) but it's still not bad!
The drinks (Milk tea and the Matcha latte) was not bad too, but we are oatmilk lovers so the milk tea was abit strong on the dairy taste, still, worth a try (esp the Match Latte)
The best part about this place was the peaceful atmosphere coupled with the great service. It's def a place to stopover for a chill cafe date/ hangout :)
We chose this cafe randomly after having we finished our brunch along the same street down.
It was already crowded, but we still manage to get a seat without waiting.
I go for their coffee, and my friend chose latte. We also shared a tart to go along.
The coffee is really strong, I love it.
A Japanese fusion brunch cafe that transcends expectations. The ambience, in minimalism, sets the stage for a comfortable dining experience. Each dish is a symphony of flavors, with subtle hints of Japanese influence elevating familiar brunch classics. The friendly staff adds warmth to the atmosphere. Alfresco dining is available, allowing guests to bask in the city's energy while indulging in culinary delights.
I only had a flat white here and it was pretty good. Very smooth and subtly bitter. The cafe was just opened and I could see myself spending an hour or two there. Seating outside is a little warm but bearable.
First visit to this cafe. The fusion Japanese food is interesting. The salmon chirashi bowl was good. The capuchino was great and well made. Only comment is the choice of background music. Too much bass and perhaps best to relook that. Overall a nice place to visit.
Chicken Sando ($20) a bit underwhelming. At that price there should be some sides and the sauce was almost non-existent. Texture was good though, the bread and chicken were fluffy and crispy respectively.
Curry Aioli Fries - Good! ($12).
Chicken Paitan ($20) - so so... I also can cook at home the same standard.
Good ambience. Good coffee. Pets Allowed in outdoor area, no food for pets.
I’ll rate it 3.5 stars based on our experience. Had to wait a while due to the weekend crowd, so that wasn’t fun. Advance reservations are definitely recommended. The patrons and staff run in the younger age group, mostly made up of Gen Zs. We weren’t impressed by the brunch and coffee was decent at best (the black coffee was too diluted). The decor is nice & minimalist, but indoor setting was way too noisy for conversation. After perusing the menu, I’m more interested in the Japanese mains, so maybe we would consider returning for dinner.
Decent Japanese fusion food but the coffee was excellent.
It was quiet on a Sunday morning, but good spot to have a quiet calming time.
Made a reservation the night before just in case it would be crowded but got here on a Monday at 1115am, the cafe was quite empty. Anyway, their staff would come out to help you take temp and to ensure that you've checked in safe entry.
Cafe has the minimalist vibes. It's clean and spacious, drinking water is all placed on each table as well. They have a 2nd level too. Ordering is done by going to the counter and payment will be made upon ordering.
We ordered Unagi Chirashi ($22), Salmon Belly Risotto ($22) and Mentaiko Fries ($12). All prices are nett.
Unagi Chirashi was filled with big chunks of salmon and tuna, ikura, tako plus a small slab of unagi. They're really v generous with the portion and I couldn't finish the bowl. The salmon and tuna chunks was fresh enough for me. Unagi didn't have visible fish bones which was a good thing cos I had bad experience eating unagi that the bones just put me off.
Salmon Belly Risotto although it looked unappetising at first (lacking of colors) but the first bite into it had such a burst of flavours. It had this truffle fragrance and it was creamy with a nice bite of mushrooms. The salmon belly was however, had a slight fishy taste and it was quite a thin cut.
Mentaiko Fries was served hot and crispy, with torched Mentaiko sauce and bonito flakes. It was a pretty good plate of fries and enough to be shared among two.
Overall, a cafe with reasonable prices given with the generous portion of their ingredients. Would come back again to try their other menu items and order some drinks too! Oh, I think the place isn't very accessible...? We drove here and I don't remember seeing any bus stop or mrt nearby. There are parallel parking lots along the road but definitely gotta see your luck to get a lot there.
Came on a Sunday night at 8pm and the crowd was low! Food came really fast and was surprised how generous the mentaiko and the fries are ($13) !! 🥰 the bonito flakes amount was really sad as u can see.
The Miso Beef Striploin rice bowl ($19) was pretty good and you get to choose the level of doneness! :) it's super flavourful! However the rice is pretty dry and tough, and I don't get how come the beans are so little. (There were 3 edamame beans only lol).🍲
The Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi Pasta ($22) was really good too! The ikura on top was a great compliment 🍝
The whole vibe and food selection was a Japanese western fusion. I liked that they have an loft concept as well for bigger crowds and they serve water! 💦
(17 Feb 2022)
Came here for the second time and tried new things! The KUROZATO ($7) has an aromatic coffee and rich creamy flavour!
Chirashi Bowl had really thick cuts!! Flavour of rice has a rice wine aroma to it!!
Had brunch with my friend here in Daizu for the first time and it was a little difficult to find parking space as you have to park along the roadside. Can get a little tricky if it rains so do prep an umbrella as there is no shelter.
Food is great but speed can be a little slow. Love the toast and sausage, very good. Fried dumplings are wonderful and I may order again if I visit next time. Beef toast (sorry I forgot the actual name because my friend ordered it) is excellent! The beef is so well prepared and not dry at all, 10/10 will order again.
Can skip the cake, it’s nothing special but doesn’t taste bad 😊 Overall experience is 👍🏻
Visited the cafe multiple times since the start and really enjoyed all their menu offerings, value for money as the portions are pretty huge. Would recommend to get the curry or mentaiko fries too, together with the rice bowls!
Staff are also very friendly and responsive, food is always served quickly and often ask for feedback about the food to make tweaks to their plating and menu. Would definitely recommend!
Highly recommended for their dessert and the fries series! The steak is really normal but the tasty pasta did a good job! Also don't forget their yummy thick sliced salmon sashimi ,super shiok!
I’ve been here 2 times in the past month and quite enjoyed it! It’s relatively quiet and the cafe is very pretty in a very unassuming way. Haven’t had the chance to try the coffee but the food so far has been quite decent- the miso beef striploin’s portion is great but defo needs more seasoning cos it was kinda bland (& rice was a lil too crunchy).
I also really enjoyed the chilli crab brioche and okonomiyaki fries on my previous visit!! The thick cut sashimi is damn worth it lol it’s technically 5 pcs for $12 but 1 pc is more like 2 slices’ worth.
All in all, good vibes man
Taking a break from work!
We had:
- Daizu's Veggie Bowl
- Philly Cheesesteak Roll
- Uji Hojicha Latte
- Decadent Chocolate Cake
- Lime Meringue Tart
Food were not bad, colourful food for Veggie Bowl how ever its quite pricey for this Bowl. If the mushroom can be Truffle mushroom maybe will be a little better.
Chocolate cake is with generous amount of fudge, not so sweet which suits our taste, however, it would be better if there were a little bit of peppermint leaves to top the colour.
Can I rate 4.5 for the pricey food? 😅
Vibes and service excellent.
Do not need to shout across the table for your friend to hear you.
Food tastes alright but pricey for the portion for cafe standards.
Best dish tried is the daizu brunch. Lime meringue tart felt like it had too much gelatine and was dissappinted.
The food is nice ,if there is enough dessert supply for cake will be more bonus for the variety.
Generous portion for the food would be better if give more endamame. Coffee can be better but is big cup so justify the pricing. Place is cozy and cold, good for a hot afternoon.
The atmosphere was not bad yet a little noisy from the other table of customers sitting behind us giggling loudly.
Generally, was not bad & it's a Japanese western-based cafe.
Best recommend their Daizu’s spicy bara chirashi, it's much more worth it if you love raw sashimi 👍🏽.
Been coming here for a long time. The food fluctuates in quality (freshness? Chef?) but when it’s good it’s damn good!
4+ stars. Western-Japanese fusion cafe with outdoor seating for pets, and 2 levels indoors.
Food quality: Food was good! Brunch, fresh bowls looked pretty good with wide variety of eclectic choices!
Food portion / Price: Portions were smaller than expected but prices as expected with other similar cafes.
Service: Order at counter and food / drinks will be served.
Crowd: Breakfast/brunch can get crowded, fortunately when we visited there were still lots of empty tables. Suggest to go early!
Payment: Cards, GrabPay accepted.
A nice Japanese fusion cafe at Rangoon Road. Ordered the Daisy Brunch which tastes good but the portion was smaller than expected. Had the mentaiko fries which was really good and the coffee is light.
Overall I would recommend if you wouldn’t mind smaller portion sized food and a slightly above price range for cafe food.
Came on a Sat at 11.30am with reservation. Ordered the Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab Croissant ($18), Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi ($22), Osaka Fries ($10) and Kurozato White ($7).
The Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab Croissant was not bad but the salted egg taste wasn’t flavourful enough. Croissant was flaky, but the dish somehow didn’t meet my expectations in general. The Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi was really umami! Prawn was fresh and bouncy and the ikura was generous.
Would have to say though that the winning dish was the Osaka Fries. The fries were well cooked and crispy, and the dressing (similar to Takoyaki) was really good! The Kurozato White was also really good too; really creamy and smooth. Would come back to try other dishes and the Kurozato White!
Discovered this place via IG and dropped by for dinner on a Saturday night.
Place was definitely well designed with ample spacing and seats and that unlike most cafes, it certainly wasn’t that noisy.
Ordered the chili crab and chicken karaage, and the latter was surprisingly very well done. Chicken was well fried with curry leafs/powders that had a distinctively pleasant taste whereas coffee and matcha was slightly more on the milkier.
Liked the fact that the the place wasn’t super pack, prices were wallet friendly ($15-20 per pax), no GST and service charge. Only damper was that as they do not accept card payments for now however contactless payment is still avail via Paynow/PayLah.
Will be back in future to try the desserts and pasta for sure ;)
Didn't manage to take pictures. Came around 6pm, chill not much people. Ate the udon which tasted yummy like carbonara. Good ambience and vibes
Second visit! Enjoyed the truffle chirashi, which was very filling. Yakiniku don was very flavourful with good portion of beef served. Earl grey yuzu was refreshing in this hot weather too. Dog friendly area was cooling with the fan.
Amazing little cafe tucked along a quiet streets along Rangoon. Food was delicious esp the fries!! Crispy to my liking!
Thumbs up to the service crew who provided super service standards!
Will definitely visit again!!
First time here with my group of friends…. It is definitely a nice place especially for brunch… food was good.. we tried quite a variety - from brunch, sando to don… drinks is good… until with tabao their cold brew… price point - guess it is comparable…. Safer to do a reservation esp on weekends
@ Daizu Cafe
One of the cafes which opens on a Monday, lucky us🥸 Food was served super fast, portion was quite small though! Because the menu didn’t highlight any “Signature” or “Popular” dishes, just felt that our orders did not bring out much of a surprise.
-
• Salmon Belly Ikura ($18)
• Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi ($22)
• Matcha Latte ($8)
Their service was really fast & the portions were huge(sashimi to rice ratio wowow) , really really really enjoyed the food and my time there. Was a really cozy place as well to sit and talk with a friend. Their popular dessert was amazing too!!!
Reached way ahead of my reservation slot and the staff allowed me to wait inside.
Ordered petite breakfast, served with a sauce (can’t figure out what’s that, not stated in the menu too, I guess it miso based sauce).
Chilli Soft Shell Crab rice bowl (friend’s order): overall the sauce don’t go well.
Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi pasta (friend’s order): pasta is on the soft side (not al dente, need to request if you prefer so). Taste wise, not too bad but might be too jerlak to finish a serving alone.
i think its not bad but at the same time yea i guess its nothing very special. its a lil expensive but kinda cafe prices too so expected. its pet friendly so i can check oit the cute doggies which is nice
Fresh and delicious bara chirashi comparable to more established chirashi stalls.
Strawberry cocoa was a surprisingly good match despite the initial hesitation. Well worth a try if you're one who can't decide between your chocolate or strawberry milk shakes.
Okonomiyaki fusion pasta was a tad too heavy on the Mayo and too light on the brown sauce for my liking.
Will come back to try the rest of their fusion menu
Great quiet cafe with some unique food, favourite is the chirashi don and mentaiko fries. Food was surprising fresh even when I visited late at night and the mentaiko was so tasty!
Came across this place during my hotel stay at a nearby Holiday Inn. Pretty convenient, just down the road. I ordered a flat white and a Petit Breakfast. The coffee was average but the breakfast was super. I especially like the bottled Kurozato White coffee brew. Guess I'll be popping by to get a bottle or two when I'm in the area.
Quite an extensive cafe menu, great food presentation and generous portion of yakiniku (don).
Cozy little space with amazing food!
Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi
Read much about this dish and am happy to report that it's worth the hype! Utterly fragrant and flavourful, the fresh prawns and sakura ebi gave much crunch to the bite, while the ikura and house specialty garlic butter sauce carpet bombs the bowl with umami. Just typing this alone is making me crave for it again.
Thick Cut Salmon Sashimi Slice
They weren't kidding when they said thick cut cause I've never seen a restaurant served sashimi of this thickness and freshness at such affordable pricing too! At $12 for 5 pieces, this appetiser sets the stage for the upcoming mains we are about to have. The wasabi was adorably rolled into a round shape akin to playdough though it most certainly taste nothing like it. Definitely a must order when you're here!
love daizu café. the ambience is so nice. went there to eat the bread pudding I had last year only to find out that they don't serve it anymore. the portion for the pastas is a bit small but they tasted really good. the kamo-nara (so cute the name) was really flavourful and not overly rich. everything tasted wonderful too.
The cafe serves decent coffee and great food! The chicken paitan pasta is my fav, a simple dish done well.
The place can be a tad noisy at times, otherwise it's a great place to chill for the afternoon
Good food, chill ambience and lovely staff. The food price is on the high side, but it's worth it :)
However the flat white and mocha are quite bland, beverage needs to be improved.
Nice food and friendly service.
Pet friendly only for outdoor area.
Worth the trip from my home.
Another gem near our workplace! “One of the best dessert I’ve eaten” quote @tiffanycyrx !!! Love how the bitterness of the coffee compliments the sweetness of the dessert. Also that latte art is damn impressive! We both went “wowww damn nice” HAHAHHA ☕️ Not only is it pretty, the coffee is legit too. Wanna come back for their spicy bara chirashi!!!
What’s on the table:
• Fuji kori amann
• iced latte
• latte
Nice decor, chill vibes, drinks were all right. But got a kouign amann to go and it was stale and tasted like it was on the verge of going bad. Couldn’t eat more than a bite - disappointing end to an otherwise decent experience.
Decent food. Matcha latte (oat milk) was very clumpy to the point I choked on my first sip.
Stumbled upon this place while trying to find a cafe spot. Spacious and relaxing interior, impeccable service, nice ambience in the mezzanine level, tasty mentaiko fries and fragrant hojicha lattes! Perfect spot for a chat on a hot weekend afternoon - be sure to give this new up and coming place a try if you’re in the Farrer Park area!
My favourite lunch spot recently. Amazing chirashi options and thick cut salmon sashimi.
Daizu’s Gyudon. A sleek cafe that serves a variety of food. Nicely marinated beef slices in a bowl of sushi rice topped with an onsen egg. Nothing overly fancy and definitely a comfort food :: $18
Food was delicious. Quite interesting concept. Portion is ok. Coffee could be better. But oversell quite a pleasant place to enjoy good food
Nice ambience, I am seating at second floor it’s warm very discomfort. The food needs improvement, it needs more flavour.
Ambience is good. Food and drinks are interesting but overly sweet. The male staff could speak in a more friendly way.
Nice Fuji Kori Amann, different twist to what other cafes serve. Curry fries tasted strange. Fries are well fried though. Store has a policy that do not allow umbrellas to be brought in but lack umbrella storage facilities to hold customer umbrellas, staff insisted that umbrellas are left outside the store.
Lovely and chill ambience. Went at 11.45am on a Friday and the cafe was relatively empty. Staff was friendly. Ordered the Unagi bowl and it was good. The portion of unagi was big and the overall taste and texture was great. Would come back to try other items on the menu.
A quaint little cafe off the hustle and bustle of Farrer Park / Little India that you can bring your furkids to! The food is great and the location is central enough for anyone to be able to access with ease.
4 stars - Very good, definitely worth a visit if you like this kind of food.
Tried the salmon belly ikura don - very good! Table also ordered Unagi don and Chili soft shell crab don. Generous servings, such that you don’t feel shortchanged after spending $18 a bowl.
Curry fries were ok. Maybe go for the mentaiko fries instead.
Wonderful experience. The purple potato latte drink is awesome!
Decent taste
A little overpriced though
Good ambience
A go to place for prawn mee for sure. A robust soup, fresh prawns, thick slurpable beehoon and a sprinkle of shallots make for a satisfying bowl indeed. The tea is the best that I ever had in any coffeeshop - from the " pure tea" brand which the proprietor kindly shared with me. Kudos to such heritage food institutions which I understand have a linked family network which includes the prawn mee at Jalan Ayer and Katong and are proud to stand by their quality and consistency
Located on the Rangoon road, this is a nice and cozy cafe. Try their Petit breakfast - the brioche is fresh and crunch, the scrambled eggs are delicious and the cappucino is from mild roast beans.
Went here for lunch and the food is fabulous. Fresh and well presented. It tasted great and good value for money. Coffee was fantastic too. Definitely one to come back to!
Area seems to be gentrifying. Brunch filled up fast so make a reservation. Food was decent but not outstanding. I had the eggs benedict which was a tad tangy.
I like this cafe a lot. The food is good and it has that vibe here. They also have an outdoor area and they allow you to bring along your fur kids.
Tiny minimalist Cafe with Japanese options mixed with western items and ingredients. Some vegetarian options too that were really good!
Nice space. Food is good too. However, it can get crowded. So, please make a reservation if you intend to go during the peak timing.
3.5/5🌟
The food is pretty good, not bad but not bad, but not really delicious. .
Add 0.5 pills🌟-There are so many choices in their store, from coffee to milk tea to wine, snacks, pasta rice brunch😆
