Reviews of Folk Yard
Ordered the cheesy baby and pork collar. Pizza was not bad but was nothing special, the pork collar on the other hand was amazing. Definitely wins the pizza! Service was ok but could be definitely more helpful with customer enquires about the drink/ wine selection..
Was supposed to go somewhere and got stuck in the rain at Potong Pasir MRT and decided to visit this cafe.
Have been wanting to visit and finally got the chance to. As it was a rainy weekday morning, the cafe was rather empty except me and another customer.
The menu was rather simple so it was quick that I made up my mind on what to have. Ordered the Hot Bird with a side of sweet potato fries and an iced tea.
Didn't take long for the food to be served. First the tea was served and I liked the subtle flavour of the rose in the tea. The cup was a little small though.
Next came the main. Was impressed with the portion of the sandwich it looked really big. Crispy shokupan and fried chicken, though I would have loved it if it was a brioche bun. Loved the flavours of the sandwich the different ingredients complemented well with each other. The fried chicken was fried to perfection, however it can be quite messy eating the sandwich as one bite and a lot of things will just fall off and become a deconstructed one.
What was most special to me was definitely the plain looking sweet potato fries which was so delicious and totally was the highlight of the meal. It was hot and perfectly flavoured and I just couldn't stop eating it. Too bad I just ordered the small portion.
Price wise for the entire meal was definitely not cheap to begin with, but I have to say it was rather worth it for the quality and the quantity which left me very satisfied. So full was the breakfast it actually saved me from lunch.
Will definitely pop by again and try the other sandwiches and also order a bigger portion of the sweet potato fries!
Sandwiches TO DIE FOR. Be prepared for queues, went around 1pm on a weekend and still had to wait. But will definitely be back.
🍳 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡 ($17) — cheesy scrambled eggs, maple hashbrown and candied bacon. I’m not a fan of bacon but I loved this candied version. The perfectly toasted shokupan bread also added a sweet contrast to the savoury fillings. Added on Fried Brussels for $6 and
this was life changing.
🍖 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐭 ($19) is another must-try. Juicy wagyu patty and caramelized onion sandwiched in sourdough. Added on Sweet Potato Fries for $5 and concluded that their sides are damn solid.
The only let down was the 𝐇𝐨𝐣𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞 ($7) that’s pretty diluted.
Menu was confusing because they have different menu for breakfast and dinner (granted they didn’t state all day breakfast but still confusing nonetheless). Somehow probably we are not understanding what is available and what isn’t. The point is that if you come for dinner, their food selection is VERY limited.
We also over-ordered because the cashier repeatedly said that their portion is very small and it might not be enough but we ended up over ordering so much that we requested to takeaway the leftover - about 50% quantity of what we ordered.
But other than that, the service is alright and other waiters seem nice and aided us whenever we requested. Before the last order, they also checked again if we wanted anything else despite the leftovers on our table.
Also, do note that if everyone is not in attendance yet, you can’t be seated inside, only outside. Other than them being a bit pushy, the place is okay but no dish stood out or fare well, just very average. MAYBE they fare better in breakfast but definitely not dinner.
Stellar food 🌟
Everything from the salads to the pork collar and the pizza were absolutely brilliant 💯
More importantly, kudos to both Megan and Alvin! You guys handled the huge dinner crowd with a commendable level of patience.
Will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Keep up the great work, Team!
super friendly staff that were very accommodating! the queue was long but there were some outdoor public seating that the staff allowed us to "dine in" at, which we definitely didn't mind at all, given that our puppy was a little active and the extra space was greatly welcomed. they even provided us with a water bowl for our puppy and homemade treats! food was also very good, we tried one of the sandwiches, which was very hearty, and some curly fries. will definitely be back!! :)
Sourdough patty melt was good but became too salty as I finished half the sandwich. Sweet potato fries was alright. Matcha was good.
Had a great brunch experience at Folk Yard. The Wagyu sourdough was amazing (beef was done just right, mustard was sooo good and caramelised onions were awesome) and we loved the sides too - sweet potato fries (crispy on the outside, so tender on the inside) and honey brussel sprouts (ooph so good!)! The food was simply amazing! And the price point is definitely value-for-money!
Service was incredible too. We felt like friends right when we stepped in. We brought our dog and she got excited when another dog passed, her leash got caught in the table and the table toppled, smashing the glass cups. The amazing folks at Folk Yard cleaned up the mess quickly and kept assuring us that it’s ok. Of course we were embarrassed but they made it such an awesome experience for us.
Thank you Folk Yard (and def sorry for the mess) - you folks were great! 💯💯💯
Hojicha latte was pretty good, the food overall was not bad as well portion might be small for big eaters, generally the service staff were polite and overall the atmosphere and vibes was 👍🏻👍🏻 would come back to try the night menu :)
Exceptional sandwiches, crispy brussel sprouts, sweet potato fries, and cookie! The portions are great, filling, and I recommend coming with someone else so you can share and try their sides!
Here’s what we tried (shared with 3):
🍽️ Crispy Brussel Sprouts (9.7/10)
Multidimensional flavour, with sweet and savouriness, and a caramelised crisp! The flavours are so interesting and swirl together to form this delicious blend of sweet and salty. it just tastes good. If you hate vegetables, this will change your life. Soft inside, crunchy outside, but a tad bit oily. Lesser oil and it would have been perfect!!
🍽️ Sweet Potato Fries (10/10)
Perfectly made and oh so super crispy. The sweetness isn’t too overpowering, and there’s slight hints of sourness from the plum powder.
🍽️ Breakfast Sandwich (12/10)
The most popular main on the menu! This is so good. Served nice and warm, it was so comforting. The shokupan bread is chef’s kiss, and so delicious. (We took away a loaf!) Crunchy toasted exterior, fluffy soft inside, oh so good. I can eat their bread all day. The eggs were so fluffy, and the hashbrown adds some dimension and texture. Candied bacon also notably good, very well made and completes the sandwich. Their sauce is good too, and adds some spice to the sandwich. The sandwich is filling, and one portion can easily be shared with two. Must order to try! ☺️
🍽️ Double Choc Raspberry Cookie 100/10🍪
My favourite. Not too sweet, well balanced with the raspberry, I love this!!! Great dessert. Chewy raspberry marshmallow centre and crumbly crunchy outside. The texture is so good, I’m definitely going to get this again!!
The place has a nice cozy wooden camping aesthetic, rather small so I recommend coming off peak. They have a nice playlist and the atmosphere is quite nice too! Al fresco area outside spacious and relaxing. Food were served quickly and all served nicely warm and fresh. I will come back for the sandwich and cookie!!
5/5 food
6/5 service
4.5/5 ambience
didnt know what to order at first but staff was so welcoming and helpful when we were indecisive, appreciate it
we got one of their pizzas to try along with the side of onion rings - which we hesitated at first but luckily ordered because it was their specialty. VERY pleasantly surprised by the onion rings - highly recommend! please try
Nice, laid back place with very good service. Had the Nothing Fancy and You Asked For Pasta pizza. The Nothing Fancy pizza was our favourite! Pizza dough has a really nice chewiness to it which makes it addictive. The onion rings were also so delicious and came in a generous portion. Coming back to try the other pizzas!
I love this place.
We came on a Friday night and it wasn’t too crowded. We had the You Asked For Pasta and the Cheesy Baby pizzas. The dough was fluffy, airy and baked with a great char, and had both a crispy and chewy element in each bite. The toppings felt premium and the plating was aesthetically pleasant. We also had the burrata salad, which came with the perfect amount of balsamic vinegar dressing and a large ball of fresh creamy soft burrata cheese.
The kombucha was great too. The food was a total smash hit banger.
The huge cherry on top would be the service we received. The owner (I think) was super informative about the food and always on standby to offer us any help. He gave us complementary bowls of tang yuan in commemoration of the winter solstice and it was so yummy and homely. He also served us ice cream 😉 which was a creative experimental delight. His care really made the dining experience so memorable. Music was really good too.
I love this place and the service and the food and the vibes. I’ll definitely come back for more. Lots of love for them.
Had breakfast here with the whole family. Ordered their mains and some drinks. Service was great! Chill atmosphere.
The breakfast sandwich was the best item we ordered. Grilled cheese sandwich was flavourful. Patty melt can be a little salty. Cold cut sandwich is alright. Curly fries will be better if it was more curly. :D
Nice and cosy neighborhood cafe. Seats were pretty limited with the weekend crowd. Buttermilk chicken sandwich was good. Huge piece of tender juicy fried chicken with slaw in between toasted shokupan. Beef patty for patty melt sandwich was abit overdone and kind of dry. Would prefer if the patty was slightly rare in the middle. But the caramalised onion was good. The sandwiches were pretty filling. Coffee was mediocre. Prices are slightly higher.
Breakfast sandwich was yummy, like a big breakfast set in a sandwich form.
Quite expensive, mainly sandwiches.
The beef sandwich and sweet potato fries was average.
Fried Brussels was very burnt but honey made it sweet.
Can’t make reservations, seated when everyone arrives.
Perfect for weekend or lazy mornings. Service was excellent and the food was good. The brussels were charred perfectly, though it was too sweet for me. The hot bird sandwich was cooked perfectly and the coleslaw was perfectly wet. Only that the bun absorbed too much oil so it was too oily for my taste. Sweet potato fries are a must order. I loved that the drinks come without sugar, just the way I take my tea and coffee. No pics of the food cos we were tol hungry and it was too good looking. Rose Lychee tea was really good.
Whoa.. solid sandwiches! Especially the breakfast one, that was my favourite! Service is also very friendly but they are a bit crowded so it helps to be understanding! Coffee here is decent too. Best part for me is sitting outside and seeing all the dogs!
Without a doubt, will 100% be heading back again!
Awesome sandwich, I had the grilled cheese sandwich that comes with the finely minced kimchi, I would prefer chunky kimchi for additional crunch and additional flavour.
The fried chicken sandwich was great as well. Juicy and moist inside.
Coffee was great as well, not bitter for iced black.
Would definitely return to try other sandwiches and sides
Came here for a dinner with a group of 5. Food was pretty good - enjoyed the pizzas in the dinner menu. Tried Breakfast club, Nothing fancy, and Cheesy baby. All were yummy, think the breakfast pizza was the best!
Some negatives from here:
1. Your whole table has to be here before you can be seated (which is totally fine!). But we were not aware and the waitress was pretty rude when insisting that we are not allowed to sit yet even though there were plenty of available tables. Felt that she could have been nicer when informing us.
2. Space is pretty small so not the best for groups bigger than 4 in my opinion.
Would still come back as the food was good, but probably only with 2pax.
Dang, the sammiches are pretty good here! Pleasantly surprised as the food looked unassuming, but actually made for a hearty brunch. Coffee was good too, so props to the barista. We preferred the breakfast sandwich over the patty sandwich. Also added a side of onion rings which helped to make the meal a decent portion for a man.
A point for the business owners to note though, it would be more efficient to just hand out a numbered sign for each order, as I noticed that several orders got mixed up – we received a piping hot sandwich 3 minutes after I had ordered but it was actually meant for another table (too bad, I took a bite). Had to then wait a bit longer for my dining partner’s sandwich to be served.
The food was very tasty and they were good, filling portions. The BEST service I’ve experienced in a long time. The staff were all very nice! There was a little miscommunication which caused us to wait for about half an hour for our food, but the staff was quick to apologize for the mishap and explained what had happened. He immediately offered us a glass of kombucha each on the house. Excellent service recovery! Will definitely come back again!
Tried this relatively new cafe at Potong Pasir. The coffee is very decent. The hot version of the white coffee has a single shot but the iced version has 2 shots. For the size, one shot is good enough. I enjoyed the coffee.
We had the breakfast sandwich and a grilled cheese with a side of burnt brussel sprouts. My son really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich, so much so that he didn’t want to share it with me. The grilled cheese was ok, just a tad overdone. But the tomato relish on the side was tangy and tasty. The sprouts were laced with honey with was nice, balancing out the bitterness. Enjoyed it.
The service was good, and we were given a bottle of water on the table when we sat down.
I hear the pizzas are really good. Will go back to try that.
We ordered cheesy baby, buratta salad, & onion rings. The pizza was the best among the three order as the honey really compliments the cheese. It's divided into 4 slices which is enough for 2. The onion rings servings are big. The buratta on the salad is big enough for the it's serving. Staff are very accommodating too! 😊 They are open until 12 midnight on some days.
Cozy space with lovely service. Enjoyed the latte that I ordered which was smooth and nutty~ unpopular comment but I preferred the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich over the breakfast sandwich! Really enjoyed the brussels sprouts as a side dish too :)
Pet friendly cafe located right outside Potong Pasir MRT!
Tried their 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙝 ($16), 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝘾𝙪𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙝 ($17), 𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝘽𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙡 (add on sides, $5) and 𝙊𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙍𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 (add on sides, $5) which were all great and worth the try!!
The staff were all so nice and attentive, really makes you feel comfortable there 🥺 Would love to come back again if i'm around the area!!
The place is nicely located near Potong Pasir MRT and easy to find. Cozy and nice to stay for work or even a chat. The sandwich is really nice! Chicken is perfectly cooked, and the combination of garnishes is super nice. Overall a very nice experience!
Fantastic pizzas and drinks, amazing service, and very chill vibes! Absolutely love the cheesy pizza, one bite and i can tell that i’ll crave it next time! Dinner service only had pizzas and shared dishes, so will be back during lunch to try their famed sandwiches!
Like they used the shokupan to make the sandwich. The shokupan is soft and well toasted. The donkatsu sauce is not the donkatsu sauce I thought, it’s a bit more like ketchup. I personally prefer the authentic Japanese donkatsu sauce. But I guess the donkatsu sauce might be too salty, so they do it differently. A good dish to try!
The staffs are friendly and approachable. Feel comfortable to dine in.
good concept but food could have been better.
Had the buttermilk chicken and patty meltz meals. Buttermilk chicken was quite dry and tasteless?…. Patty meltz was better but oily, salty, and their sourdough was so hard…. chew until jaw also tired. very dense in a bad way.
Ordered the cheese sandwich and buttermilk chicken sandwich. Cheese sandwich is too greasy and buttermilk sandwich was okay but nothing special to note. Fries were delicious! Might try other sandwich next time! Price point is abit on the high side. Friendly staffs and very helpful. They always refill your water without you asking. It was very crowded on a Sunday noon, despite the crowd, we tried asking if we can do our work here, and we were allowed to. Truly appreciate that! We ordered 2 more coffees and 1 cinnamon buns. Nothing to shout about~ The points given to customer service and environment!
Best place to visit for good coffee, good food and even good drinks at night!! Pet friendly and extremely kind service!
ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich. looked a lot like mac’s buttermilk burger but it tasted different. the caramelised brussel sprouts were super chaoda but blew our mind. tables are quite closely arranged so it’s quite cramped.
My go to spot for coffee every morning. I’ve tried probably everything on the menu & the cold cut sandwich is probably the most underrated sandwich. Perfect balance between sweet and savoury!!
Grilled cheese with the in house kimchi pineapple dip is also AMAZIN. OH AND THE LEMON & THYME CAKE, my absolute fave!
Tried the coffee. Will come back for more
R2: on leave, had time and was on the way. Tried the beef patty which I enjoyed. My wife and I are always on the look out for nice melted cheese sandwiches.
This’s the second time we came here. I loved their breakfast set and it’s a big size for me. Their kombucha perfect, but can you make the size serving bigger a bit hehehe.. we’ll be back to try other breakfast set menu that you have and keep it up👍🏻👍🏻
Beef sando slightly oily but very delicious and filling for sure. Cold cut sandwich a standout, will order again when I come back! Coffee is always double decent 👍🏻
Breakfast sandwich was really yummy with a nice combination of sweet and savoury, sadly the patty meal was a slight letdown as the wagyu patty was over cooked and dry. Nevertheless, fried Brussels sprouts and curly fries complimented the sandwiches well.
Food and service are fantastic! Really good hospitality here. Extremely vibey here with great tasting pizzas and drinks. Must get the cold brews, kombucha and even their beers. They offer craft and canned beers and even wines and they all taste great! Super pet friendly, can ask for doggy treats. :)
Order a breakfast sandwich, matcha latte and lemon thyme cake! Sandwich is superb and cake are fantastic. Staff are very friendly. They offered me an indoor seat when available. Will come back for MORE!!!
Love that this cafe is in my hood. The pizzas are really delicious and the coffee is great. Though the food is abit pricy, quality makes it worth it. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming as well. Definitely one of my go to cafes.
Been here twice in a week for lunch & breakfast and pleasantly satisfied with the quality of food, taste and service. Will be back again!
What a hidden gem in Potong Pasir! Small cafe with big flavor! Awesome sandos and coffee! Definitely a great weekend brunch place you wouldn’t wanna missed!
Loved the breakfast sandwich and sweet potato fries! Service was fast and attentive as well :)
Visited again and ordered the same sandwich with curly fries. it’s not bad but not as nice as the sweet potato fries, and is a tad salty!
didn’t realize they only sold sandwiches for lunch so I didn’t end up getting to try the sandwiches when i went for dinner, but i did takeaway a banana bread. i’ll be coming back for their sandwiches, but lemme jus say the banana bread was SO GOOD esp cuz they heat it up for u. will update this when i get to eat the sandwiches
Ordered two sandwiches for breakfast. Food is great, will definitely come back here again
food was so good, pistachio pesto sourdough & kombucha is a must try!!! pet friendly outdoor dining area, staff are super friendly and attentive
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sando: 5/5 Batter taste like the batter that you get from Tempura Soft Shell Crabs 🤤
Patty Melt Sando: 5/5 Scrumptious and juicy patty 💦
Sweet Potato Fries: A-mazing 🍠🍟
Hot White Oatmilk: 2.5/5 Basic white, coffee flavour is not strong/aromatic
Tepache (Pineapple & Cloves): 5/5 Refreshing, pairs well with the rich taste from the Sandos as it clears the palate.
Overall: 5/5
Service: 5/5 The team was very friendly and cheerful 😊
Omg the pizzas are lit. Had the breakfast pizza and hot honey for takeaway. THE CHEESE PLATTER THO, was yums! New dinz staple!
Great sandwiches just a little. Average coffee/ hojicha. Great atmosphere and lovely environment.
Popped by for some wine after work. Had an incredible experience and learned a few things about wine from Alvin. Glad to have such a place around the neighbourhood!
I honestly loved EVERYTHING about this place. The sandwiches are amazing and every element of each sandwich is clearly very well thought of and complements each other so well!! Coffee’s great too and they apparently roast their own beans. Was also really impressed by their pizzas. Think I had almost every pizza on the menu and love love love! If I have to pick a fav, it has to the cold cut pizza. Please also try their fried brussels!!!!! 🫶🏻 Oh, they also sell natural wines and the owner (who I honestly thought was the friendliest hooman ever) is pretty knowledgeable about wine and was really willing to share what he knows and recommend you something that suits your preference.
Can’t wait to visit again!! And folkyard if y’all are reading this, please consider opening a branch in KL someday 😉✨
Buttermilk chicken is pretty good and not oily, however a little pricey. The flat white with oat milk is quite good too, but quite a small cup for $8.
Service wise, they are very friendly and approachable. Also great location, just right opposite mrt exit C.
The breakfast sandwich is nice!
The chicken sandwich needs more sauce! Mushroom sandwich portion is kind of small
Good coffee, good food, good folks. Glad to see great cafes opening up in the area.
Niche little place at Potong pasir MRT. It's new and has a modern look to it. The kitchen is small but the portions and taste are not... They are awesome. Their take on sandwichs during brunches are quite limited with choices but not with flavors. I always hope that the menu is small but whatever comes out of the kitchen is amazing... Fork yard does that awesomely. All the best to this new place.
bread has a really good crunch to it, loved the brussels sprouts
A hidden gem. One of best neighbourhood cafe I hv been. Their sweet potato fries are tdf. Not oily & not soggy. Also the ingredients in the sandwiches are fresh & their cakes tasted attas & freshly bake. Lovely place. Will go again.
Can’t wait to try their sandwiches and pizza 🫶🏻
Shout out to the lovely staff taking my order today. She noticed I was having a cough and took the initiative to bring me a cup of warm water! Now that's exceptional service! 👍
Decent sandwiches; altho some parts of the bread and bacon were charred. Coffee was average too; tasted somewhat sour.
Tasty but a tad too oily. Service and coffee was great
Pricey but worth it, with great service and lovely food. All the coffee options are great – you can't go wrong. Try the fries too.
Cafe owner immediate rectification of incorrect order by delivering the missing item and adding a piece of cake for the mistake, left me in awe. Patty melt is a must try!
food 👏 here 👏 slaps 👏 !! I dont even eat fries but tried their sweet potato fries & it was amazing !! Also had the breakfast sandwich which was mad yummy & it do b really filling too !! Vibe & ambience was mega slayyyy
Good food for good service. Sandwich is so delicious. You can’t miss it.
Great food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. 👍
Excellent sandwiches, and great drinks.
Still great.
It would be nicer if the food is less oilly
everything is a 10/10!!! ✨️✨️ Will come back again!
make
went there on a Sunday afternoon and had to queue for about 30 mins. the queue was pretty worth it to me though because the food was AMAZING. Staff were really nice and friendly too! Not only were the food great but the atmosphere and playlist too. Complimented their playlist and they were really happy 😁 I have to say though, the French toast was one of the most craziest and impressive thing i had in a long while. the brussel sprouts were pretty unique too, there was some sort of sweet coating on it which i would never have imagined. What i really liked about this place is that we get to choose half of a side and half of another side. I like the idea bc we could try more sides without feeling stuffed. All in all, i would totally come back again to try the other dishes!
Great service from the weekend team. Cosy cafe for catch up with friends.
Weekend brunch selection was limited with only sandwiches; pretty steep prices as well $16-20. Recommend the Hojicha - thick and smooth.
