Reviews of Jin Yuan Food House
Saw this new stall opening at Blk 416, we decided to give it a try. Tried their fried rice with pork chop, braised pork noodles, pop corn chicken and dumplings. They use short grain for their fried rice. Taste and texture was okay, doesn't have the wok hei smell. Maybe it's their method of doing fried rice. Pork chop was tasty, soft and tender. Pop corn chicken different from others, it was crispy outside tender inside. The braised pork noodles was tasty too. Dumplings are the same, not sure if it is freshly made or pre packed but it tasted okay. We asked for the spicy sauce to be served aside so that we could taste it without the sauce. Prices of the dishes are reasonable. Will come back again to try more of the dishes on their menu.
2.5 stars. Thought I’d be excited to try new store but taste doesn’t suit me…
Food quality:
Unfortunately this is 1 of those stores whose food tastes artificial. Rice is hard, noodles felt like they were taken out of the packet then heated and thrown together with other ingredients. Chicken tasted like it’s straight out of packet.
Food portion / Price:
Around $5/more for a meal.
Crowd:
No crowd even on weekend.
Payment:
Cash only.
As an M1 data user, I often experience poor reception, with only 1-2 bars at most. This affects my ability to use apps like PayNow, PayLah, or even surf the web on Google. It seems that wifi’s reception is generally weak in this coffee shop. They should provide free in house wifi.
Pork chop is juicy and flavorful. Fried rice is decent, though can do with more wok hei. Overall, I can imagine tasting this at DTF. I tried this on a Friday, 2pm.
Thought to give a shout out to the economy rice stall at this coffeeshop. Wide selection, cheap and good. Cheap is subjective so it's my point of view when I compare the taste, quality and portion. $3.30 for 2 veg and 1 meat. Has been one of my go-to for lunch and dinner since I first ate at the stall. Appreciate the stall owner/chef(s) for prepping such good meals everyday.
A huge shoutout to the cleaners who take great pride in their work and ensuring all trays and tables are wiped thoroughly clean. This truly makes dining here a pleasure. Have tried the Thai food, fish soup and dessert and all taste good. The Thai stall serves really affordable steam fish in large portion. They accept cash only though.
Lots of food choices here, there's the popular Boon Keng fish soup, wanton mee, western food, Thai food, fried rice, mix rice, and desserts 😋
Nice yong tau foo
Bee Hoon in baa chor sauce very good
But I think is expensive
Nice place for boon keng fish soup, taiwanese food , thai food and drinks stall dessert!
A coffee shop with 6 food stalls and 1 drink and dessert stall. It is famous for its fish soup, but its Western dishes are also delicious. They also have spicy hot pot and economical rice. It's good that there's always a seat no matter when you go 😊
