Reviews of Keng Wah Sung Cafe
Good food - liked the toast and beehoon. Accepts electronic payment (only the drinks stall). The coffeeshop is humid and warm, and difficult to find parking. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but this is a good option for breakfast if you are in the area.
Was googling about hidden gems and found this place. I loved the atmosphere, it has old kopitiam vibes which is quite hard to find in modern Singapore. Food is reasonably priced here too. I particularly enjoy eating the Kaya butter toast here. Economy noodle gave me the feeling of nostalgia as if I was eating back during my childhood in Malaysia..
Kaya toast is definitely popular here, the outside is crispy and the inside is fluffy, soaking up the kaya and the butter. Eggs are cooked to the perfect runny texture and goes so well with the pepper and soya sauce. The service is very fast as they are constantly toasting and boiling the eggs. Tables are clean very frequently so you can expect a comfortable dining experience. Price is also affordable as this is the local delicacies
Ordered each food and beverage at each store.
Wantan mee, beehoon, egg and toast still available after 12pm. The beehoon portion quite a lot. When ordered wantanmee was told to seated and they will bring over.
Food quality is nice with affordable price.
The stall is in open area, there will be lorry pass by and please be aware of bird while sit outside.
If you looking for affordable old school nanyang breakfast, feel free to drop by.
Love this kopitiam.
My set of kaya toast + eggs+ super good kopi+ Econ bee Hoon set is only $7.40
Windy, and parking just beside the stall.
Keng Wah Sung Cafe is a local gem in Geylang that serves up some of the best kaya toast in Singapore. The coffee is strong and aromatic, and the kaya toast is simply divine. The toast is perfectly toasted, with a crunchy exterior and soft interior. The kaya is rich and creamy, and the butter is generously applied. It's a no-frills place, but the food is worth it. If you're looking for an authentic Singaporean breakfast experience, this is the place to be.
A great authentic local Kopitam in Singapore. We went out to Paya Lebur especially to visit and it was worth the trip. $3 something for a breakfast set - Kopi, Kaya toast and eggs - and it was delicious. Very authentic Kopitam, unlike all the western style places in touristy areas. The uncle was a crack up too.
Really bustling coffeeshop. The drinks stall is not bad. The coffee and tea is above average. Kopi C costing $1.50. The egg and toast looks alright. Had the nasi lemak for lunch, very economical but the aunty used rather cheap ingredients. Can't find meal of this pricing these days.
Always love the food there. Every stall at this place is nice. Good coffee, kaya butter toast, morning beehoon, chilli, cai fan, nasi lemak, mee siam.
Glad the nasi lemak is open at night now.
Nostalgic kopitiam - stopped by for some quick wanton mee and it was awesome. $4 for a decent portion with enough meat. My personal favourite style of 'white' wanton mee without black sauce.
The flower shape donut and thinly-sliced Kaya-butter toast are great. Not too sweet. Reasonable priced coffee shop with great local cuisine. Shall try the Hainanese Curry Rice, Wanton Noodle and Nasi- Lemak at the next visit
Nice kopi c peng siew dai and uncle. Da paoed mi fen and fried egg (yet to try). During the short time I was seated, I saw a steady stream of customers buy kopi here!
Great kaya toasts for the value, 80c each. Service is extremely quick and the staff is very friendly. Always packed with locals through the day but extremely busy during the morning.
The bee hoon was much better than expected. Looks average but taste great. Eggs looks like normal fried eggs but executed perfectly.
Kopi is robust and fragrant. I ordered Gao siu dai and tasted exactly like it.
The kaya toast was normal, like those you can find in most places.
Really crowded in the mornings. You might have to share a table if you can find one if you did not come with anyone else.
Loved Kaya toast with butter and perfect soft-boiled eggs. 👍🏻👍🏻
Really love their toast!! And their generous beehoon serving! Wonton also one of the better ones out there!
Bustling with locals. Good sign!!
We went for a Singapore breakfast - stumbled across this spot. Food is good. Service quick. Local people all terribly friendly. 😊
Staff friendly and responsive.
Would go back in a heart beat.
Coffee ☕️ toast bread 🍞 and eggs 🥚 affordable standard 👌 off Sunday and public holidays 0600-1930hrs
Keng Wah Sung
No frills kopitiam in the Geylang fringes thats known for their cheap yet above average kaya toast. The kaya itself is slightly charred but still soft, though nothing to shout out about overall
The Damage: S$10-15 for two
True blue hainanese shop
I adore that they produce own donuts, kaya and curry puff
Toast is good but coffee so so
Tasty and affordable breakfast set available here.
The kaya is prepared by them so I would consider this a rare find.
I tried the wanton noodle here as well. The noodle is cooked to the best possible QQ standard.
Will definitely come back here again!
Local food stalls with coffee, toast, chicken rice, hokkien noodle, and many others
.
It's one way to enjoy Singaporean local cuisine affordably, and the weather is also pretty good today
.
I tried the hot coffee with milk, also hokkien noodle with soup and pork meat. Delicious and easily becoming a comfort food
.
You can also see a lot of locals having breakfast, or just chilling with friends
.
Keep up the good work and service :)
Great value toast set. Although eggs were a tad overcooked but tea and coffee is aromatic. A great breakfast to start the day right!
Very surprised with the kaya butter toast! It's so good! Was here during a Saturday afternoon, decent crowd with no queue.
My girlfriend still says she had the best teh there from our whole trip.
Breakfast was classic Singaporean, the staff was really nice and friendly, and explained to us how to make soft boiled eggs at home.
The drinks stall are also selling economy fried mee Hoon and noodles at a very reasonable price as compare to outside stalls around Singapore. Food are 👍 and always great crowd in the morning session. Near to paya lebar MRT and city plaza. Walking distance 5-10minutes. Old school coffee shop style.
One of my fav breakfast spot in SG
We first ordered the usual Milk tea and compulsory kaya toast then suddenly saw an Auntie selling Mee Siam. OMG was this heaven on a plate! The just perfect broth combined with the natural ingredients made this dish and the entire breakfast worth the 25 mrt ride. It was a wet rainy morning so the ambience paired with the traditional kopitiam menu went perrrrfect. If in Singapore a must try for all.
One of the best coffeeshop soft boil eggs you can find in the east. Good eggs texture. Soya sauce is abit towards the sweet side. Drinks & toast are made with well stardards.
Very old school place. Has decent wanton noodles, Kaya toast, economic bee boon and good coffee.
The food good but hard to find table.
New found place for kopi butter or atomic coffee at one the last old kopi joint at Geylang.
The oldest Kopitiam in Geylang area.
Kaya toast set is one of the best. Much better than any food court and some of the established outlets.
Mee Siam ($2.50 only) is recommended too.
Wanton noodle is quite good.
I don't mind to come here 3 times a week and try out different food.
The aroma of the black coffee is excellent. The first coffee slip will brighten your day. A cup of coffee a day keeps the doctor away.
Remind me of kopi tiam when I was a kid, toast is great!!!
Old coffee shop could be hot during sunny afternoon. Despite the poor ventilation the Kaya toast and Hainanese coffee is good. A must to order waton noodle with black sauce is superb.
Delicious donuts 😋😋
A non pretentious coffee shop. Like their kaya butter toast and soft boiled eggs. Seem to be better than Yakun and other branded cafe.
I think breakfast here is worth a try, the taste is right on the tongue and the price is affordable, the coffee atmosphere is great, thank you for serving our breakfast...
The noodles and coffee are superb. Sorry no picture as it is too nice and forget to take picture before finishing it. And the chicken wing from the Nasi Lemak Store is a must try!
I've only had the kaya toast and the beverages here but it's one of the best places for kaya toast.
This is a great eating place to me bcus the foods available there are all my favourites, yet standard at hawkers rate also most importantly tastety. Hainanese authentic homely made foods.
Very good old school coffee, kaya toast and black sauced wanton mee!!
Do come early, the kopitiam is pretty pops amongst uncles!!
Early morning breakfast. There is economic bee hoon, mee siam, nasi lemak, meat porridge, kaya toast and kopi. Shiok.
Awesome little place to try the local food. I had the Kaya Toast and Kopi, I couldn't compare because this is the first time I had tried this, but it taste great!
Nice old style coffee shop with good half boil eggs and bread. If you want noodles they serve it too.
Kaya Toast!!! Not the healthiest breakfast option but sooohh YUMMM! They also sell home made kaya in jars.
Very good and tasty kaya toast. Travelled far out to the east to try it for myself with a friend visiting from America!
Awesome 1960s bee hoon taste...
Craving for traditional toast at night, opened till 11pm, best in town.
Great toast and coffee, and also traditional Chinese Bee hoon. Most importantly great value for money.
Great place for hainanese coffee , economic beehoon and hainanese economic rice.
Very reasonable price.
We normally go there for coffee. Nice coffee with good kaya toast
Best economy mee noodles, good iced coffee, very tasty
In the city with easy access to anywhere in town. Great service from service staffs.
Great place for a tasty and cheap breakfast.
Their coffee and toast are so good.
Kopi is aromatic. Very good!!
Foods are nice...
This is cafe haven
Great coffee
A long-established copy shop that often comes up when searching for Kaya Butter Toast in Singapore.
You can experience an old-fashioned local copy shop.
<Directions>
From Paya Lebar Mrt exit D, walk to the right to the Geylang Road intersection.Do not cross the intersection and walk along the road to the right for about one block. The destination is the copy shop on the corner of the street.
<Crowd level>
In the morning, it gets crowded around 8-9am for Kaya butter toast and local breakfast staples (rice noodles, etc.).
Inside the Kopi Shop, there are several other stalls where you can order Kaya Butter Toast and drinks, but if you are looking for the Kaya Butter Toast Set, you should order from the Drinks Stall.
If there are a lot of visitors, you can either secure a seat first and then order, or take it home and eat it leisurely on a bench surrounded by greenery around PLQ3.
<Payment method>
Cash or PAYNOW
Card not accepted
<Toilet>
Sorry, not confirmed...
It may be in the back, but if you don't like it, try the public toilet right after getting off at Paya Lebar mrt Exit D to the station, or the clean toilet in the PLQ building near the station.
Have you ever eaten poached egg coffee at this shop? More than 10 years ago At that time, I wanted to try breakfast that was wow, bright, delicious, good things, great things here. But my sister brought us to this restaurant.
The atmosphere is like a coffee shop in our local market. It is a place where friends from each generation meet and talk in the morning. Fathers and mothers bring their children to eat. Uncles, aunts, uncles have come to meet each other. It turns out that we like this kind of atmosphere. Whenever I come to Singapore, I like to wake up and eat breakfast like this every time.
Got kopi with butter + soft-boiled eggs + toast with custard-butter. But now my stomach is full, I'm happy.
When ordering coffee It's not anything difficult. The menu is similar to our home.
“Kopi” = coffee or oliang with sweetened condensed milk in our country.
“Kopi O” = like Oliang with sugar, no milk.
“Kopi O Gosong” = O Liang, no sugar added, no milk added.
“Gopi Si” = will be like Kopi Oliang added sweetened condensed milk and also fresh milk.
If you like it very sweet, add the word “kadai” to the end of the coffee name. If you eat a little less sweet, it's "Xiao Dai".
If you want to eat it cold Add ice and add the word "Peng" and that's it.
It's difficult 😂🤣
4Star
<Pros>
Long operation hours
Affordable price
Simple but balanced crispy and soft
<Cons>
Kaya is just average
A nostalgic cafe.
While the number of stores that charge as much as 5SGD for a set is increasing, this one
Kaya Toast Set is a great value at 3.5SGD.
A toasted sandwich that is soft and not too crispy.
Typical kopitiam feel
Toast
Kopi O is empty
Half boiled egg

A great experience. The breakfast offering is (of course) Chinese in style. But there are also toast or egg dishes. The owner (?) helps with selection and ordering. Definitely worth a visit.
A place where I occasionally stop by and drink coffee while passing by.
A drink is served warm in a glass.
It's warm and tastes good. What's even more surprising is that it's only $1
A famous place frequented by local people
Even though it only costs $1, the workers treat me kindly and with a smile.
Traditional baked bread eggs
At the same time, there are traditional cakes
