Reviews of Knots Cafe & Living (Paya Lebar)
Food was decent, not cheap Decor was gorgeous, great for casual hangout or business. Service was not great. Was there on a weekend. Even though there was no crowd, the wait staff came over and wanted to clear our plates when we were clearly not done. At their second attempt, we were about to go anyway, wait staff had no smile and was expressionless when we said thank you. Not impressed. Yes there was a 90-minute cap. We were out by 1.20pm.
Great selection of All day breakfast and pastas even mains. We’ve tried the waffle breakfast and the lamb. It’s really tasty and the portions can be shared! The ambiance reminds me of Bali cafes. Hopefully the staffs will be more attentive next time!
I am part of a charity Organization called Family Enrichment Society (FES). We held a social event called Songs Of Life twice in the Knots Cafe & Living in Paya Lebar. Thanks for the wonderful staff of Knots Cafe, especially to YY who is our point of contact. She assisted us from menu planning, seating arrangement, layout, and hosting the guests on the day of event. Our guests enjoyed the ambience, the food and the service provided by their staffs. I would highly recommend this place for hosting intimate and cosy events for personal, social and corporate occasions. Thank you Knots! 🙏❤️
Celebrated two lovely ladies bday here. It's a quiet hidden gem inside an industrial area, excellent ambience and vibes. Food and dessert pretty decent.
What was unexpected was the mozzy bites I experienced the moment I stepped in. Special shout out to Krystal, who instead of dismissing my feedback quickly offer me mopiko to relief the itch. That enabled me to enjoy the rest of the time with friends. Small gesture that has a great impact.
Thanks alot!
Came here with no expectations, just finding a place to fill stomach after gym. I was very amazed with the tomahawk steak. It was cooked to perfection, very tender and moist, you can see from the amount of juice on the board after slicing it. The tomahawl won me over that day. The parma ham pasta was tasty as well.
Pizza - generous amount of cheese makes it oh so gooey and cheesy.
Meats - good portion, mint jelly on the side was good, cooked to perfection.
Pasta - good aglio oilo, the spaghetti is actually full of flavour. Carbonara is served hot enough for you to stir in the yolk for a rich creamy texture, at many other places the Carbonara is not served hot enough.
Knots should really reconsider and relook into their pasta portion for the pricing they have, they should have a bigger portion.
Location - Easy to spot, cafe is facing the main road, in between Scanteak and Phylux. Gotta make a round the building to the cafe front.
Update - Subsequent visit had my pasta all chopped up..?! Very odd and annoying to eat chopped up spaghetti. Asked the staff and they said its served like this, this is not so when I first visited tho..
Nice cafe decorated with greens, very tropical setting. Food is more brunch and afternoon tea.
Quiet and friendly place for dinner. A very green place with flowers to buy. The food is decent, really enjoyed the charcuterie board
Today I went to Knots Cafe with my friends. The food is excellent, and the service is good. It is a wonderful place to have lunch or gathering with friends. We have ordered these food (shown in the photos) and they are delicious!
Good food, great service and good prices too. The place waive service charge. Near MRT is a big plus.
Update: came back again after 2 years. Food is still good. However the decorations are not as lovely as i remember. Used to be surrounded by plants. Also quite strange they dont serve water in a cafe. Still 5 stars. Coffee is very well presented.
Lovely place. Very nice ambient and food is not bad. Only thing is aircon not very cold. Instaworthy place and instaworthy food. Weekends can be quite crowded
Our first visit after covid!
Still as pretty. Tried the Mocha this time, like it! Would be nicer if it's a bit hotter. Same with the Chai latte.
The chocolate rese cake is good.
The kiddo likes the earl grey cake too.
The best is still the peaceful garden settings full of greenaries around me.
...
Very beautiful garden cafe! Almost feels like I'm in in an English garden! Food are delicious too! And love the tea I ordered, can't remember the full name. Tried the fish and chips, pasta and waffles. All great!
Went here for an early Christmas dinner, the place had a great ambiance which made us feel that we were transported to an enchanted forest.
Food was great enjoyed the truffle mushroom soup as well as the lamb chops.
A great place for a fun family & friends gathering
Very aesthetic cafe with urban greenery vibes at the macpherson/ubi area. Ordered meals which were quite balanced, both dishes included fresh vegetables covered with sauce. The croissant was crispy and not soggy at all. They were very generous with the mashed potatoes for the chicken chop. I recommend to book a table in advance on weekdays since many nearby may visit this place during lunch hours.
really pretty place to chill out with loads of plants. the knots waffle brekkie was good (savoury waffle that’s super satisfying) portions were American sized… so super huge. two small eaters / one hungry fellow can finish it and be full.
Slightly pricey, tho food and ambience was great.
Generous portion.
Matcha latte a bit too sweet.
2 poached eggs for $4 seems slightly too much.
They gave return voucher but only meant for pasir panjang outlets.
Update. My bf loves this place, returned for the beef and lamb steak. Generous portion as usual.
Found a hidden gem in an industrial building front. Beatifully decored and aesthetically pleasing, this place is an eye candy. Best thing is you can buy their furniture piece or decor piece on the spot. Hence the name cafe and living. Food was very tasty as well. Everything was cooked to perfection and also served fast. Had a little crowd after we came in therefore we were lucky we didnt have to wait long for a table. Service was also very prompt and family oriented. Will be again to try their other dishes.
The atmosphere is really nice. The food was also well prepared. Pork chops came with 2 big slices. The chicken chop however has half a slice underneath(measured by weight I guess)
The seasoning for the chicken chop was top notch
Pasta was yummy although there wasn’t any truffle smell/taste at all. Sausage was nice but a bit soft. Wings tasted very generic. Cake was very dry and quite terrible but ice cream was alright. Overall price is on the higher side but food was pretty meh…
Swing by to have lunch.
Ordered Choco banana milk shake and iced mocha. Decent 8/10.
Had bangers and mash and smoked salmon sandwich. 7.5/10.
Slightly on the pricey side.
Happy to receive a membership with $20 off min $60 spent.
My son found this place on Google maps & we decided to head down for early dinner. It was probably a furniture shop previously & almost every decor is for sale. Decor pcs are very expensive though, so let’s focus on the food.
Portion sizes are really good. Our dishes were delicious except only the chicken chop, which was slightly dry & burnt. Coffees were average only....& too much ice on the fresh juice.
Sitting is spacious & they even have a mezzanine floor via a spiral staircase.
Overall, value for money.
Other than the location being slightly inconvenient and food being slightly pricey, everything else was good !!! Nice food chill vibes very comfortable surroundings (literally everything we ordered was good)
Food portions are big, enough for 2 people.
The waffle is sweet.
Food is nice.
Surrounded by greenery. Enjoy the atmosphere.
Do remember to make a reservation before coming, this place is always full.
Not easy to find from MacPherson MRT (go up from exit A and the cafe is on the side of the road that’s right opp where you’re facing when you come up the escalator).
Very nice ambience, lots of green plants and flowers when we enter, we made a reservation for lunch. I had a dirty chai latte ($7) and truffle egg bacon croissant (~$17), both have a good presentation but tasted average, just your typical cafe food. The eggs especially was meh, no special sauce nor was it runny, zero truffle taste and given how much eggs they filled the croissant with, I got a little sick of it after a while.
Not the cheapest cafe around but their prices are nett (for those collecting cc points, they only accept cash, pay now or grab :”)
Second visit to this green cafe in the industrial area.
Big serving and delicious vongole pasta. Photo- truffle croissant was delicious too!
We had ice mocha and cuppa to pair with our meals.
There was a very friendly server was limping and only able to use one arm, but that doesn’t stop him from making me feel like he was the best staff. He would set our table with a huge smile. Serve the pasta with one hand. Even regular check ins to clear our dishes. All with a huge smile.
Didn’t catch his name. But thank you.
:)
Side note: most of the things are available for sale in the cafe. Tables.. lamps etc
Lovely cafe located in industrial area. Although their food was average, but they made up with a cosy and relaxing ambience with lots of greenery surrounding. Service was friendly and attentive. Good place to chill and have a chat with a friend.
The food looked simple but actually tasted good. The waffle was crispy with a good bite (not the hollow type) and went well with the fragrant earl grey ice-cream. The bacon aglio olio was surprisingly very flavourful, we thoroughly enjoyed it. I only didnt like the coffee, it had a very harsh and burnt taste and I could not have more than a sip. Worth a visit if you're nearby as it's a pretty cafe too.
Nice ambience and service. Food was decent as well but slightly overpriced. Chai latte was good and similar to the one at starbucks. We were limited to 90 minutes of dining but they didnt chase us out even after we passed that timing. Found an interesting warning in the guys toilet too...
2nd visit here, was definitely disappointed as the standard has dropped. Last time we ordered the lamb chop but now it's gone from the menu so ordered pork chop. 1 piece was cooked perfectly but the 2nd piece was slightly overcooked. The mushroom sauce that came with it was cold and the pork didn't have much flavour without it so bo bian just used the pork to heat the sauce.
The waffle brekkie was still nice, waffle was crispy on the outside, sausage was great, only downside is the bacon wasn't crispy like it was the last time I came.
The flat white coffee was bad, the milk was clearly "burnt" and too hot to drink when it arrived, it wasn't silky and there was a grainy texture to it. This was the biggest disappointment because my last trip here the coffee was amazing and made with so much care.
I hope they improve on the food and coffee to the standard they were at originally.
I feel that this place has the potential to be a lot better because the service and the ambience were great.
However, the food was quite disappointing according to my family. My parma ham pasta was good, probably cos it is their signature dish, but my family said the pork chop was very tough and taseless, beef burger didn't taste fresh and fish and chips wasn't good too. In fact, my elderly parents-in-laws had tummy upset after that.
Probably wouldn't come back again since the food is no good, but would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the floor staff who were very friendly, helpful and accomodating.
A surprisingly good find one afternoon while we were in the area. We were seated and was informed of the 90 minutes dining limit. We ordered 2 coffee and the breakfast waffle to share. I hope we were hungry, we could have tried other popular choices in the menu. Anyway, the waffle was served fresh and fragrant, crusty but soft and moist inside. Flavours were good altogether! Glad to find out that they have a Pasir Panjang joint since its very near my workplace.
Ambient was lovely! Love the greenery surroundings. If you like it. You can even buy it.
Food wise overall acceptable with a slightly pricey. Ranging from 15 to 20. Main was great but the dessert rather disappointing.
Service level is acceptable, all basic are covered.
Thumbs up. Really a good restaurant to take instagram worthily pictures. I just love their garden theme. Food wise is equally of good quality. Their fish and chips was surprisingly good, crispy outside and tender and juicy inside. The truffle ham pasta (can’t recall the name of the dish) was equally as good. Both dish are highly recommended. They don’t serve water, you have to purchase it at $0.5 each. Service is also good. Will come back again. Good work.
A cafe with handicrafts and plants, cozy ambience. Food is great. Reservations is advised for peak hours. I arrived without reservations on a weekday just around noon and there's only a few tables left.
Carbonara is creamy and caramel chocolate cake just the right texture, both are recommended.
KNOTS CAFE AND LIVING @ Paya Lebar, a pleasing ambience surrounded by greeneries. It’s a perfect place to chill out with our lovable family and friends.
Attentive and friendly service by the staffs.
CHICKEN CHOP - Chicken leg marinated in cajun spices with roasted baby potatoes & mesclun salad with pepper sauce.
FISH & CHIPS - Deep fry breaded dory fillet, french fries & mesclun
salad, served with tartar sauce.
SEARED SALMON - Pan seared salmon 🍣 fillet with spiced pilaf rice 🍚& mesclun salad 🥗.
VEGETARIAN AGLIO OLIO - Spaghetti sauteed with button mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, baby spinach, garlic & black olives.
SHROOMS & BACON AGLIO OLIO - Spaghetti 🍝 sauteed with streaky bacon 🥓 & button mushrooms, bird eye chilli, garlic, white wine
& finished with parsley.
MARGHERITA pizza baked with Freshly sliced tomatoes, mini mozzarella balls & cheese.
Refreshing artisanal LEMON GINGER MINT TEA 🫖 with Peppermint, Ginger Root, Lemon 🍋 Myrtle, Lemongrass, Galangal.
LEMON 🍋 MOJITO MOCKTAIL - crushed ice 🧊, sparkling water, agave, lime cubes & fresh mint leaf.
PASSION FRUIT MOCKTAIL - Passion fruit, grapefruit in orange juice w/ crushed ice & garnished w/ fresh mint leaves.
WAFFLES made with Matcha / Buttermilk served with Mango sorbet and strawberry 🍓 ice cream topped with Whipped cream.
Last but not the least CHEESE OREO CAKE which was cheesy and the day special.
Located in a ulu @Ubi industrial area. Limited parking space. Nicely decorated cafe nice to take photos. Queue was efficient & staffs were friendly. Food wise average, needs improvements. Scallop risotto was overly sour, though scallop was softly cooked. Beef burger was sweet, yes sweet burger due to the onions & sauce. Pizza was hitting the right note. Overall given the pricing considerations, better option available.
Cute decor with pieces you can buy and bring home. Super friendly service even though I just bought a takeaway coffee
Nice ambience and deco with plants & mezzanine floor. Unfortunately they closed the upper level due to covid-19.
Visited on Sunday and it was full house, glad there allow reservation.
Food taste ok 👌 But service slow.
For location in the industrial area, the price is quite high.
Great ambience in this hidden cafe by Xpress Flowers.
It's a good idea to venture into cafes i guess.
The croissant was buttery but not fluffy nor crispy. The croissant ruins the entire experience of the dish. Fresh salad and perfectly cooked Scrambled eggs with a tinge of truffle.
Coffee is decent.
Great service by the staff. A pity they didn't know where the cakes were sourced from though.
Lee Jia Qi best server she smile and treated my family very nice on their anniversary day.
Also to mention Beckham as he was absolutely splendid he went the extra mile to make sure that what we ordered are correct and even gave us a discount.
Furthermore he accommodated to my personal request to write happy anniversary for my parents on the ice cream cup. Simply impressed by the customer service absolutely sensational will definitely come again 😎
Place is big and staff is efficiently. Food was good but pasta portion abit small.. staff found my sunglasses when I called up and kept for me. Thank you for the servicing.
Quite a unique location for a cafe among the industrial area, we decided to check this out as we wanted to see fans at the shop beside it.
Food and coffee were alright but very normal and slightly pricey for the type of ingredients. It was a relaxing environment since we were surrounded by plants.
Having an enjoyable time! Had an orange carrot juice and an earl grey lavender cake. I the cake was so rich and flavourful! The juice was really nice too.
The place hires people with special needs to serve, which I think is really pleasant in such a nice big & spacious cafe. It is well decorated with plants, furnishing and artworks. Very much like a living style cafe. It’s a beautiful place which is open for functions, baby showers, birthday celebrations and ROM. Something worth considering !
I realised they sell ice cream too! Would love to come back and try other things on their menu!
We had the garlic prawns pasta and the truffle pasta. I thought they were passable. Have had better.
I'd recommend you to order truffle fries, and drinks. I had the chai latte, not bad. Truffle fries was delicious.
The buttermilk waffle was soooo good. We had it with the salted butterscotch ice cream and it was heavenly!
So try not to order the pastas.
Nice ambience with all kinds of plants n decors. The pork chops are not bad and the oneh oneh cake is yummy. The cafe is very crowded maybe it’s a Friday so remember to make reservation before you go down.
Beautiful place & definitely coming back for the food, service & ambience
Highly recommending the knots waffles and the truffle pasta ( if you like strong truffle taste) . Cappuccino was strong & fragrant.
The service was what surprised me. Staff were stationed at the entrance of the cafe to usher in guest with umbrella from the car to the cafe....
This is what a fantasy garden dining experience is all about! 🪴🌿💐🌼🌸Surrounded by greens, flowers and all things eclectic 🥰 you almost feel like you're Alice and this is Wonderland 😄
The food's great too! 😋 Large portion we'd say. Enough for two with smaller appetites.
Knots Waffle Brekkiele
Smoked Salmon Sandwich
Fruits & Spinach Salad
What we love was the generous serving of greens in our plates!
Ultra friendly and obliging staff that make our mandane day extra special 😄
For the price we paid, this is definitely worth your while. We'll be back for more!
Pretty good cafe food, nothing to complain about but nothing extraordinary.
Came on a Saturday at around 10am, was lucky enough and didnt have to wait long for a seat. When we were leaving around lunch time, the queue got pretty bad and it was chocking up the door area because of the layout.
Nice decor, very green. My friend bought a plant but on hindsight could be overpriced.
We came to this cafe as we were nearby and saw some good reviews. The place is indeed cosy & nice! The food was ok but at reasonable price. Unlike other atas pricey labeled cafe serving normal food. The fish & chips was a bit fishy and serving of fries are small even tho we upgraded to truffle fries. (Refer to my pic below, its only a handful). And the French toast was not those thick fluffy toast that I was expecting but the taste was decent. Place was crowded on a weekday lunchtime ard 130pm. Do note that the parking fee is high, paid $3 for an hour.
Most people come here for the nice ambience and I think that’s the biggest pro point. It feels like a mini forest which is pretty unique for cafes in sg. Quite instagram worthy.
Food wise I ordered the croque madame and a flat white. Portion size was decent and filling, food quality wise decent as a whole although- I see other comments being critical of the food, I understand where they’re coming from I think it’s not the mainly selling point of this cafe.
Good food, tasty cake, cosy atmosphere, friendly service, free WiFi, but long wait for pizza. Some choice of vegetarian option for dinner like Shroom Bacon Aglio Olio, Margherita Pizza, Fruit & spinach salad, fries and cakes.
**Pls make reservations in advance** It is surprisingly crowded for a cafe in an industrial area.
Hidden in an industrial building is a cosy and stylish cafe that serves not just coffee and desserts, but also decent western food. Love the interior design. Insta-worthy wherever you are in the cafe. Slightly expensive to me but worth a visit.
Lovely ambience however some dishes salty. Owner personally look into feedback hence this is remarkable for a 7 year old Cafe. Lovely Waffles and Truffle Pasta.
A botanical paradise of a cafe surrounded by plants and gardening and art. From the mains to the desserts, the choices are plentiful and delectable. No doubt a beautiful place to spend a glorious afternoon in the midst of the MacPherson neighbourhood.
Great service, great decor and decent food. Well worth a visit!
The ambience is good and the food serving is big. However, the dining experience is ruined by the loud renovation noise outside. I am still puzzled by why there is renovation work going on after 6pm.
A nice cafe near MacPherson MRT, very cosy and nicely decorated with lots of plants and industrial design. If you are in the area, I recommend you stop by for their delicious brunch and drinks.
Brilliant combination of breakfast and coffee, combined with a garden experience and taken care by the best staff.
The French toast is a must try and finish it of with a coffee.
It was raining on that day and the staff was super helpful in boarding cab by shielding us with umbrellas.
The collaboration with local flower store Xpressflowers adds a unique touch to the concept. The interior is adorned with real plants that are available for purchase, creating a refreshing dining experience. It's a great spot for hosting small parties/events. However, the carpark entrance to the building is steep and has a sharp turn, which might be a downside for some visitors.
The cafe is lushed with green plants and creepers, it is so relaxing. We ordered a waffle breakie and the waffle is the best I have eaten. My Papa also agrees.
Ordered Milo Mocca and Buttermilk Waffle. I LOVE the waffle. Very rich taste of buttermilk.
Quite a relaxing ambience. But can get a little noisy when it is crowded.
The cafe is really nicely decorated with a natural feel. However, do take note that some seats are stools and is not as comfy as the sofa or the 2 sitting table.
Some dishes is good and some is just soso. Mine was the waffle sampler and their waffles is really tasty with a hint of sweetness. My friend's dish like the mac and cheese was a bit if a disappointment but the fish and chips was good and huge! We were impressed.
Nice place for group gatherings, dates, or outing with family. Really love that it is decorated with many plants and flowers.
Had Sunday breakfast here. Will come back for dinner next time.
Super nice staff and service, great quality food and ambience. Came in without a reso but the host hooked us up no problem, and was even nice enough to get us better seating when it was available. Aunties behind the counter are equally nice and helpful. Food was great, especially brunch items. Their waffle is a must try if you love crunchy crispy waffles that are almost burnt, haven't found another like that in SG yet. Topped with a scoop of gula melaka pandan ice cream was divine. Oh and coffee was well prepared too, every cup made with fresh espresso in perfect ratios.
Love the ambience and the food. Great place for a romantic meal or catch up with friends. The Knots Waffle brekkie is great. Most importantly, the service here is commendable.
Food is tasty and the atmosphere during dining is great! Food is slightly pricier than other cafes but prices are inclusive of Gst already. Place does not accept paywave.
Very beautifully decorated place. Love the overall atmosphere/ambience. Pricing is ok for a cafe. The vegetarian aglio olio I had ($15.9) was pretty mediocre. Overly salty as well. Upside was the amount of ingredients (including asparagus!) given.
Love the ambience and deco at this cafe!
The all day breakfast portion is very generous! I couldn't finish it all by myself , I suggest to share it with a partner. Will definitely revisit again !
There is a parking space, lots of flowers and plants, and the food is OK
Average food, nice view.
It feels a bit like a cafe in the Gyeonggi-do area run by an aunt.
It's pretty. The food is a little expensive and the drinks are average. It was difficult to find because it was in a factory complex. It's spacious inside and sells things like plants, so it's a good place to kill time with a laptop. But I don’t think there’s any need to go looking for it.
The food is good. The decorations were varied with different themes. But I guess they are also selling these items but I doubt many people will buy. They just enjoy the ambience and have a cozy time chitchatting with friends😃came again on19 Dec 2024 Thursday. It has changed its settings and it looks good😀
