Reviews of Kurasu Singapore
Great coffee shop that allows you to enjoy your specialty coffee or matcha.
There's lots of coffee options for you to choose from! If you're not keen on coffee ($5-7), go for the ceremonial matcha ($9). It isn't sweet!
Staff is really helpful in recommending based on your preference.
Will definitely return if I'm in the area.
Coffee wise I don't really recommend. There's a big space to improve where the body is not strong, and it's not flavourful. I would say it's a bit overrated. 🥲
But please come for the unique experience! I really like the hidden corner, and just hope that there will be more great coffees next time! :) barista and staff well explained on their coffee beans too!
A lovely good coffee from Kyoto, Japan, which is located in the waterloo building, just follow sign number 1#24 coffee shop located at number 24, 1st floor.
Their drip coffee is so nice and sea salt cookies is good also.
Queuing outside around 15-30 mins
Hidden little speciality coffee gem. Kurasu is Japanese coffee shop using beans roasted in Kyoto.
It’s mainly focused on filter coffees with a wide selection of beans. But that is not to say that the cappuccinos and other coffee beverages are not served to perfection. Excellent barista skills, nice and modern minimalistic atmosphere.
Visited on a Sat afternoon, it was quite crowded and was challenging to find a seat. Entered the cafe, wasn't sure where to order and no one offered guidance. Quite a small cup of iced latte, kinda pricey at $7.5, tasted slightly too acidic for my liking but others might appreciate it.
Was in the hood so looking for a filter brew spot.
Comfortable setting with a number selections. Settled on Fuyu Moe blend and was not disappointed. Brew was good.
Bought a bag of Happy Holidays blend to try at home.
excellent coffee & service!!
loved the vibes, but its pretty packed most of the time.
i got the flight it costed $8.5, its pretty pricey ngl but the quality of the coffee is really up there!!
The cafe and service are good but overpriced. It was a bit too crowded and noisy when I was there
This is definitely my favorite spot in Singapore for coffee and matcha lattes! If you're looking for a great espresso or pour-over coffee, this is the place to go. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable, and it's fascinating to watch them work behind the counter. I highly recommend their iced matcha latte with a shot of espresso, and it's even better when paired with their delicious chocochip cookies or lemon pound cake. Give it a try and see for yourself!"
It was really cosy and quiet for a Sunday afternoon, and the staff were all cheery and welcoming! Matcha looks to be pre-mixed and the flavour did not shine through after the initial mouthful.
Packed with customers and coffee sophistication. Heralds from Japan, with a carefully different brewing style to the standard one in other whitewashed walls places around the world. Queues and allocated seating at busy times.
A cafe with an excellent atmosphere, tucked in a quiet location that you won't expect cafes to be found. Has extremely accommodating and casual service with good coffee. Only downsides are the scarcity of tables and menu options, which can possibly be a good thing because it blends with the minimalistic theme of the cafe.
Pleasant coffee with a nice ambience with hints of Kyoto.
Can be a little crowded due to the popularity of the cafe.
Had the original roll cake as well. Thought it was just okay but good to enjoy with a cup of coffee.
Amazing drip coffee at this tiny joint located within Odeon tower. It's so good that I ended up having 2 cups back to back. Highly recommended are the Ethiopian and Honduras beans for V60. To get here, enter the lift lobby on the left of the main lobby and go to level 2. It's part of the coworking space.
Decent cafe to visit during weekend but always with queue
Coffee and matcha are good but the cookie tend to sold out pretty fast
Nice clean cafe. Coffee they served was ok. They also served cakes that are so beautiful. Didn’t have a chance to try their cakes. Next time.
京都コーヒクラス - Tokyo Coffee Class
A Little gem in the alley of Bencoolen. Minimalist interior design, very nice Japanese vibe.
Matcha latte was sweet (forgot to order an unsweetened one) but delicious.
Had a pleasant pour over coffee here.. nice if in the area..
A slice of Japan quietly tucked away under a hdb block, Kurasu is one of the most tranquil cafe in Singapore especially on a weekday. Love the minimalist interior and simplicity. Ordered the ice Hojicha latte and Macadamia cake. Hojicha was fragrant and overall not too sweet and Macadamia cake was fantastic.
Protip: Visit on weekdays or before lunch on weekends to avoid crowds

Excellent and high quality range of coffee. Interesting space in a really old Neighbourhood.
A tad hard to locate with the ongoing renovations in the area. It is fairly near the popular chicken rice stall along waterloo street near SMU.
Nice Milky Matcha Latte without any bitterness.
Went today, definately did not see any grand cakes display at Waterloo street. I think the reviewer got the wrong Kura 🤣
Crowded on weekends, can’t get seat.
Hojicha latte tastes average, too much milk.
I LOOOOOVE KURASU!!!! GOOD COFFEE ☕ GOOD VIBES⚡GOOD PEOPLE ❣️
The new place is an excellent place to relax and enjoy a great cup of coffee. Highly recommended if you enjoy coffee and if you’re looking for a place to read a book or have a conversation. Only downside? If you’re thinking of taking out your laptop here, then you’re out of luck cause of the limited tables available.
The matcha latte is kind of sweet to me. That would be great if they provide unsweetened type. Desserts are out of stock today, hope to try next time.
My favorite cafe newly opened.
Coffee is good as usual with modern bigger space. Hidden gem no doubt
A beautiful muji style ambiance place for coffee and conversation. Angelo, who is in charge of the place recommended me the following beans for long black. I strongly recommend this drink for all black coffee lovers :)
Had their tea beverages which were both way too milky for our liking, and really small servings too. Service was so-so, but ambience was nice.
i came here on sunday morning, bought take away 1 iced latte, coffee was good, i forgot to ask what kind of coffee they were using but i guess it was blend and there was a bit of ethiopia in it
Minimalistic. Interesting location. This is really the kind of coffee shop that I can try to get a good coffee from (just like Glyph and Nylon). The other cafes have too many distractions like brunch menu. Kurasu’s menu is very simple: few typical espresso based coffee and they put more emphasis on filter coffee selections. Staffs are nice and friendly, and kinda made me feel like I’m in Japan.
The soft cookie that we tried is really good!
Classy place similar to Apartment. Japanese zen feel. Coffee not spectacular but good. The cakes were awesome 😄
The first time i heard of Kurasu was at YouTube video learning about V60. Just got the chance to visit here now. Very recommended if you are a coffee enthusiast or just looking for great latte.
We try several menu here, including espresso, pour over coffee. If you ever stop by here, try the dirty matcha, matchaffogato. Very delicious
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great coffee 💕
Quiet comfortable spot with good coffee.
Cheery staff acknowleges guests promptly.
Got the indonesian beans back to try. Good fresh batch.
Enjoyed the flavour.
Both cold brew and hand brew are nice.
Balance flavor with bright acidity and fresh aroma.
Nice quality coffee
Coffee berry tea was refreshing and unique. Footfall is not that high, a great place to chill and chitchat. Tea lattes are bit sweet cos they use the tea syrups.
Nice coffee, feel cozy vibes, the price is acceptable, nice place to chill w/ friends, staff are friendly but
5 stars for the coffee, baristas and service! Exceptional coffee. It’s tucked away in a shared office space, and the area feels more like an office reception, and a common meeting place, rather than a café. During the weekends, when it’s full, it can be difficult to find a seat. But, definitely going back.
One of my weekend highlights - going here for a chill place with good coffee.
The place gives me a zen vibe that's always appreciated in the midst of Singapore's hustle and bustling lifestyle.
Never been disappointed, only that space is limited so don't get upset when you have to wait awhile for a seat :)
Im admittedly not a coffee expert but Kurasa is easily the best coffee I’ve had in Singapore. Their new location is a nice relaxed and trendy space continuing the delicious coffee trend. Highly recommended.
Loved the coffee! Would like to dine in next time as the place looked really cosy
Coffee was very fragrant and the entire cafe aesthetic was very clean and minimalistic. Staff were very friendly as well!
Smooth matcha. Cozy cafe.
Not serving foods, only cakes is available
The matcha latte is smooth and delicious and the Swiss roll is OK. The place is apparently very busy and could make use of another pair of hands (see coffee stains on the table).
Excellent place for a great cuppa Joe. Quiet environment suitable to do some work or chit chat over a good cup of coffee. No food option available, but they serve good matcha latte sourced from Japan for the tea lovers.
Finally found a cafe with manual brew! The coffee is great, the place as well very cozy. Very recommended to chill
If you can find it, it's totally worth your while!
Smooth specialty coffee, done a number of ways. I had an iced drip coffee that was savoured like a new discovery, even though it's probably what I had last time!
Quiet spot to enjoy the best Green Tea Latte straight from Kurasu in Kyoto. Can't recommend enough for a good cup of Matcha.
One of the best lattes we had in SG! The only challenge is to find a place to sit as it tends to be crowded at coffee time. Will be one of our frequent weekend coffee spots!
Amazing place for coffee and matcha latte, with the matcha sourced from tokyo. Latte is very smooth and flavourful!
Comfy space with decent coffee and matcha they also sell coffee goods and some merch.
Finally got around to try the matcha latte, it did not disappoint!
Quaint ambience but with current ongoing pandemic restrictions, limited dine-in time. Friendly staff and clean cafe! You got to queue outside before entering during peak hours.
the matcha latte was creamy and had the right amount of sweetness to it! it was crowded but the staff (a pretty girlie) was quick to assist us in finding a seat despite her busy shift 😵😵 highly recommended 💅💅💅
Don’t have place to enjoy coffee.
So-so matcha, you could get a better range from Hvala down the road at Chijmes instead.
Super knowledgeable team and you can feel their passion for coffee. Really enjoyed my Yumnam Dehong drip coffee.
There are so many people here. Coffee is good.
Housed in a cosy corner of a co-working space on level 2 of Odeon Towers, it's a quiet place to chill. The entrance is "blink and you'll miss it" so I wish the sign for Kurasu stood out a bit more.
The coffee is typical third wave Japanese: slightly more milky and milder than its Australian counterpart but balanced and pleasing to the palate nonetheless. If you don't like your coffee too strong or acidic, this is the place for you. Their pourovers are nothing to sniff at either, and perhaps the star of the show.
It's a lovely place to work at, with its floor to ceiling glass windows and the option of armchairs or window counter seating (sans glaring afternoon sun but still with plenty of sunlight), but do note you'd have to buy a coffee to be here (unlike Found at Prinsep St). But with great coffee like that, why would you not?
Hipster Japanese style deco n atmosphere.. if u love hipster.. this cafe is for u..great for people watching
Good coffee good vibes
Very friendly staff, great food and drinks. The owner’s dog Hachi is adorable.
A great place to enjoy specialties
Although it is a small cafe, it is a place where you can feel young vitality.
It's okay to work because there's a table and bar, but the chairs aren't comfortable to work in.
If you come back, definitely visit again!
I was looking forward to going to kurasu in Singapore, but the experience was not very good. The store is hidden in HDB, but it's still easy to find. It was the second day of CNY when I went there, and there were still quite a lot of people, so I wanted to go in and see if there was a seat. The staff came over and said that we had to queue outside for dine-in, so we queued outside for about 20 minutes. The weather is a bit hot, and there are no stools, so I can only bask in the sun, so I can just go in and take it away. After ordering the meal, I wanted to take a look at the products on display, but the staff told us that the drinks would be delivered to us outside later... At this time, I was a little confused. Could it be that if I take it away, I can't leave it in the store? See something? Not wanting to be reminded again, I walked out and waited outside for a while for it to be delivered to us. Although kurasu's coffee is undoubtedly good, the service feels quite different from Japan.
Because there are not many seats inside and there are too many people waiting for a table, we choose to take out.
This time I drank iced 🧊Light Pei single origin coffee, it was really good👍🏻!
The clerk can speak Chinese and the introduction is in line with your preferences❤️
This is a pleasant café on a small street in Singapore. The atmosphere is calm with a light musical background, both with friends and when alone. I had a Macha Latte there for a reasonable price. I recommend.
Like like like
It’s a pity that I didn’t buy cake or bread
I just think the coffee is nothing special
The coffee is delicious, but there is a slightly strange smell in the store. Please take care of it.
