Reviews of Matchaya - Takashimaya
Had koicha milk ($9.5 before tax) with matcha cruffin. Ceremonial matcha quality was there, and the desserts pairs with the drink well. However felt that the services received wasn't too good there and the milk was not nicely foamed.
Training might be needed to keep all franchise quality on par.
The desserts and coffee were excellent . Would have given a 5 star if not for the fact we were charged $0.50 for a small cup of hot water to dilute the matcha latte. My friend found the latte too thick and had 2 small cups of hot water of which we had to pay $1! We Spent over $60 between 2 of us for cakes and coffee and would however think twice about going in future .
Had a really pleasant lunch here yesterday. The food was really good, portion is quite big too. The service by the staff was good, they are all very welcoming and polite. The little boy with spectacle was really nice and attentive cuz I drop my knife and he gave me a new one straight away. Definitely will come back here again for the food, drinks and service!!
Wide selection of matcha/hojicha based drinks. And they were awesome. Too bad the same can't be said about the food. The mac and cheese was passable but the 20 bucks for a tasteless plate of reheated beef short rib. This definitely is a good place for drinks and snacks. But thats all.
Just too expensive, to be honest.
Black sesame parfait was just like soft serve ice cream added on some ingredients, and then get feel too sweet in the end.
About the drink, Momosencha, the staff said it's popular, was good but disappointedly, it was not served with hot. Too lukewarm to my taste. Naturally I couldn't enjoy the scent of sencha so much...I'm not sure it was their own way to serve this kind of tea, but hope I was able to claim it to be served much hotter.
I know they might use good-quality ingredients, but the taste was just normally good for me, so considering the price and tastiness…
Ambience ambience was cozy and nice.
Take notes around 13:00 on a weekend many things were out of stock.
It might depend on personal preference . Just not for my place.
Came for their Sakura Season set and their drinks and desserts were great! The sakura soft serve brought back memories of Japan for me ☺️ We had additional drinks - Matcha Milk & Houjicha Milk, I personally love the Houjicha Milk! Lovely place to hang out with friends and we’ll be back for sure! P.S. They have great & friendly service staff 👍🏻
First time trying Matchaya. Ordered their matcha milk, matcha almond croissant and osaka fluffy pancake. Pancake and matcha drinks were good but the croissant was so so. Went there on a Sunday afternoon, queued for 5 mins before getting a table so quite lucky. Shop ambience and service were ok.
Was here in the afternoon for my usual matcha fix and was greeted my this kind young man with a distinctive long hair. He has great mannerisms and was kind to recommend new cakes when I discovered my favorite yuzu coconut roll cake has been discontinued. I went for my usual kochi milk and it was great as usual!
I have gotten the small round cake for my friend and she seems to like it too!
Definitely will visit the cafe again.
Everyone’s preference in food & beverages is different so mine might not be same as many…
I think this is an expensive coffee place as the coffee is very little but price of the small cup of coffee is way too expensive!
We went there to kill time while waiting for our daughter to finish her swimming lesson 🤭
Dun think will go naval again ;)
I had the ice matcha (less sweet) and black sesame roll the matcha was amazing and well balanced and I loved the roll too. Staff were very helpful and kind
Love the ambience and drinks and cakes ! Drinks can choose 0, 50% or 100% sugar. Food presentation is awesome. The signature matcha yuzu cake is so flavourful ! Red bean cake base is brilliant!
Tucked away nicely at 3rd floor of Takashimaya, Matchaya's offerings exceeded my expectation.
I figured that I would not enjoy myself here at first, since I'm not so into Matcha - which the entire establishment's concept revolves around.
I am pleasantly surprised by the taste of several menu items that I've had the privilege trying. I started off with the Royal Milk Tea and boy, was it a new world for me! It is properly counted as one of the best milk teas I've tasted so far.
Next up were the savoury croissants, I tried the Chicken Ham and Tamago. My favourite was the Tamago, of the two. That said, both were delicious in their own class. The salad accompanying them had a great orange - flavoured sauce, which I really liked.
To close off my dining experience, I had the Osaka Fluffy pancakes. Its way better than your staple fast food hotcakes, hands down. And compliments to the person who prepared them, it really looks as advertised on the menu illustration.
Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience for me. Staff were very knowledgeable about the menu items and service was very efficient. Price point wise, it may be abit pricier, but for a good reason. Do give them a try!
Good matcha soft serve. Not sweet and there is the slight bitterness to my liking. Atmosphere is 2 stars due to to open concept and you can hear conversations from next table easily
I have to say... For the price point... Its not the best. Especially when they specialise in all things matcha.. I got the matcha milk hot and iced. It wasn't mixed well I could feel it was still grainy or powdery. I appreciate the latte art. Beautifully done. But at that price point... I'm sorry.. I just can't give a full 5
Excellent service, excellent food, the tried the matcha milk drink it was really good the matcha was really tasty took a kurogama soft serve that I forgot to snap a picture of and finally had a nice hazelnut cruffin as well, really had a good time calm atmosphere and will come back again.
Matcha has a powdery aftertaste. Croissant is average. Staff turned a blind eye when someone cut my queue. Ambiance is good. Will not visit again.
Such a good place to drop by for something sweet while shopping.
Very good quality matcha. Tried out their koicha milk which was rich and fragrant. Will also recommend their black sesame soft serve. Super nutty and rich as well.
The Signature Parfait is ideal for sharing even though I was expecting a nicer presentation considering the price. The sesame flavour softserve was a pleasant surprise. Service was welcoming and pleasant.
Nice quick Match take away - made fresh, professional polite staff - clean and comfortable place. All in all great!
Let me preface this by saying i really like the koicha lava cake here. The drinks are soso (hojicha is better than matcha), the sponge cake was nice and the cream puff was decent. However, there are some things i thought the shop should note.
I came here, bringing my friends and recommending them this place. They commented that the personnel was unprofessional for a place that served ceremonial tea. I couldnt disagree. Why?
First, they commented the tea jars didnt look clean. Its powder, i reasoned, its only natural. There's condensation... its only natural?
Then, there was a guy without a uniform today. Thats fine, doesnt look too good but ok. He was sniffling under his mask in very close proximity to several seats in the shop. Again not so good but tolerable. Then, he makes comments on work/ pay in full earshot of customers. I mean i wanted to defend the shop but what could i say?
Then, even i was shocked when they didnt clean the powder on the utensils from one drink when they made a second drink. If it was the same drink being made then maybe itll be fine though i may raise an eyebrow.... but this was two very different kinds of powder/ drinks. The drink ended up being a mix of the two powders. My knowledge of tea is only fair but i think that is unacceptable for a place that calls itself a matcha shop, in japanese.
I still give it a 3 stars cause i love the koicha cake and hope its just new staff making these mistakes.
One of my go-to matcha spots! Definitely must order their signature koicha milk and soft serve. Flavours were very rich and earthy.

selection looks good
we tried the new menu - strawberry sakura parfait; decent but not worth the price point, the couch seats were really dirty... big yikes for me
I've been to Matchaya quite a few times and love sitting by the bar counter seats, and I must say I am quite baffled by some of the reviews posted here recently.
Regarding the ceremonial tea, Gyokuro.
Every order of it is of new tea leaves and not recycled. Individual tables get their own little teapot with their order chit nestled under it at the bar.
Doing a quick google search shows that Gyokuro is one of the highest grade of Japanese tea, hence the price point.
I did also overhear the cashier giving an alternative to Gyokuro called Sencha.
It's quite amusing to blame others for what you've ultimately decided to order.
Another is of these "one-off wooden spoons"
To my understanding... don't most Ice-cream parlors give out wooden spoons for consumption?
I will normally get a mix of Matcha & Kinako Warabi Mochi from Matchaya, didn’t know that they have black sesame flavour until now! Is it something new? #suaku Love it man!
Location: Matchaya, 391 Orchard Rd, #03 - 10A, Singapore 238872
Food was good. A bit pricey though. Understaffed so don’t expect proper customer service.
Ordered iced Matcha Koffee and Houjicha Koffee but totally zero coffee taste. Matcha was very very sandy and not smooth. Quite meh.
Chanced upon this place mistakenly. What a charmer! Gd prompt service, although we arrived 925pm n they close 10pm they didn't chase us away... Had matcha latte was yummy n had the signature parfait too, was 😋 delicious. Gonna go back again real soon. Highly recommend!
Good taste Good service
If u like green tea..Don't say no..
Just come Matchaya...
Was craving for waramochi and had their matcha flavour. Overall was quite jelly-like and was not very sweet. Nicely balanced with the bitter matcha powder.
📷 Lavender Soft Serve ($7.70 w GST & Service Charge)
🥓 I like the taste, not bad. But it's not the type of flavour that everyone will appreciate.
🕙 No waiting time for seats but the waiting time for the soft serve to be made is about 5 to 10 mins.
🤑 Pricey for an ice cream. But given that you can rarely find this flavour elsewhere and that it is a seasonal special, I guess it kinda justify the price point. But still, not value for money.
🔥 While it taste good and all, it doesn't warrant me to pay that price for another taste. Once is enough. It's not so good to the point that I'm willing to pay a premium for it. A basic McFlurry can satisfy me.
Nice matcha based dessert
The food is excellent!!!
Great environment. Good tea. But it's really more for tea lovers.
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ the cold whisked matcha milk! It’s got a strong n not-sweet matcha flavor. Perfect start to a weekend!! I have been following them since they started in Icon Village and their matcha offerings never disappoints.
The matcha tasted great. It was a good place to chill
Very nice ice cream, will go back again
Love this place. The dessert and the matcha drinks are awesome! The staff, Jon and Adrian are very attentive and service is Great! Will definitely be back again.
Their tea+ssert ice cream platter was the perfect way to end the day while catching up with friends. Can't wait to go try more of their matcha and hojicha!
This is a very nice space with good environment and service, especially the Mocha tea.
It’s good for relax and enjoy free time.
My favorite was the iced matcha mocktail. The perfect balance of matcha and citrus. Refreshing with a much needed caffeine boost.
Great service!
Chic and modern decor, coupled with friendly service and good desserts. Will have to come back and try other foods.
Drinks was good, dessert was so-so.
Great place to have a break, nice ice cream and desert Vittoria
