Reviews of Monk's Brew Club
Good food with HUGE portions, which I really appreciate in today’s economy! Their coffee is very innovative too, and I love the Cococinno. There’s also a co-working space on the second level that you can check out. Would love to come by again on my WFH days 🩵
Great food, chill place with relaxing vibes. Loved the Kathi roll, so much flavour! Mocha and affogato was good as well.
I liked how spacious the space is, and they serve up pretty chill background music as well. When it comes to cafe, these play a huge part to play up the ambience card. As for the food, I had the hot plate breakfast, and it was enjoyable. Especially loved the pickled cucumber and onion bread but the portion of those were small😅 as for drinks, I had the iced white which I would rate 7/10 as it wasn’t strong enough for me.
Love the colours and design of the cafe, and interesting selection of food. Prices are steep, especially if co-working is a consideration, but that's maybe because it is for a different market 😂 Good to come with family, friends, or by yourself to get work done.
Came here for drinks and dessert in the afternoon for a pre birthday celebration.. the Affogato here is damn good it kept me awake until 4am 😭
Great coffee/ restaurant coworking space.
We had breakfast, food and service was good. My wife enjoyed the filter coffee, I got a tea.
Coworking area is upstairs, you can rent a hot desk for half or full day, monthly or rent for events.
Anyway just the coffee place is great, clean, spacious, comfortable and kids friendly.
Great new spot on East Coast with lovely chilled atmosphere & great service. You can tell they are passionate about their coffee & the food is yum! We’ll definitely be back for another round of rainbow pancakes & to try out their signature drinks!
Simple food menu. Coffee not to our liking as they were slightly sour. Food was average only. Quite expensive at $20 for French Toast & $20 for chicken slider.
Plus point is prices are inclusive of all taxes.
The environment is not conducive too. Everyone is literally shouting when they talk, making the whole place very noisy.
Will skip.
Great addition to the east coast stretch. Fried drumlets with yogurt dip is juicy with crispy skin. Chocolate walnut brownie is delicious. Overall a cozy and friendly atmosphere with good service.
Recently visited Monks for the first time and was delighted by their excellent coffee. This inviting cafe also serves a selection of craft beers. Plus, it features cozy co-working desks on the second level, perfect for members. A great spot on East Coast Road for both chilling and working.
Coffee was good, and the pastries from Chu & Co were also tasty. I like that they warmed it up. However, the place was filled with mosquitoes. We gave feedback to them but unfortunately they told us NEA was not able to do anything about it. I went home with 4 bites on my legs. Will not bring children here.
Shout-out to the gentleman in glasses, his cheerful service attitude definitely brightens up your morning.
A cozy cafe to chill in. Monk’s Brew Club serves a good variety of breakfast. A must visit for those with sweet tooth.
Service was excellent and the cafe provides a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended for hanging out.
Tried their filtered coffee with Ethiopian beans and their cold brew. Both are refreshing and light on a hot day. Relaxing place indoors with a quaint play area for kids.
Nice cafe vibes on the 1st Floor, and a spacious Co-Working Space that doubles as a events venue on the 2nd Floor!
Their pancakes & pasta came in such big portions & were delicious! Staff were also friendly & patient, so I felt at ease.
Highly recommended for the food & the shows!
Cute and quaint cafe. Perfect for a small group of 4 - 5 people. Coffee is okay, not outstanding. The food is also good for a one time buy. The eggs and avocado was good though.
Cosy and Family friendly newly opened cafe at East coast. Loved the Waffles and the Coffee brews. Would highly recommend one of my personal favourite Cocochino- Coffee with Coconut Cream. Yums! The owner and host, Alaap was great at offering recommendations. Definitely going for repeats soon!
The staff is smiley and friendly : )
Good service!
Coffee and pastry were good!
Comfy spacious cafe to chat with friends or spend own me time there.
Great food, service and they are dog friendly (outdoor)..
Great variety of coffee! Tried the ‘troffee’nator and the monks’ bombon! Can’t wait for the next visit to use the working space and try out the mains! Staff was super friendly too! Also cute loyalty card!
Came in on Saturday morning, just a few minutes after opening. The place was empty, but the waiter seemed uncomfortable when we asked to sit at the large table for our quick breakfast instead of a small one. He reluctantly agreed but came back five minutes later to inform us about the 90-minute dining policy. That was fine since we only planned to have a quick breakfast.
The food was alright: avocado toast with salmon and a fried egg, and a waffle with salmon -- basic cafe staples. The coffee was decent, and I personally liked their selection of caffeine-free teas. However, the lack of hospitality and the staff's strange attitude spoiled the overall experience. The same waiter later asked another couple to change seats midway, despite the cafe still being mostly empty. It came across as rude and unfriendly.
On a positive note, the foam on the ceiling is a nice touch to block echoes and soften the noise, making the atmosphere more suitable for conversation compared to many other cafes around.
Visited post lunch while walking around the area...Love their selection of speciality coffees ...and the waffles are divine . Great vibe …must visit.
I find it’s getting harder now to find a cozy cafe in joo chiat just to chill. Mostly serving fine coffee but expect you to leave soon. Monk's is quite unique with plenty of sofa to be nestled in, food and drink quite good, service ppl very friendly.
Hidden gem for brunch. My favorite breakfast plate in the neighborhood and genuinely unique coffee drinks in a nice relaxed atmosphere
This cafe was recommended by a friend living in Singapore and I was blown away from the moment I entered this space. Minimalist, spacious, calming amidst the ‘chaos’ beyond its walls along East Coast Road. Staff were friendly and welcoming which, for me, makes or breaks the experience.
The menu did not disappoint either. It offered both vegetarian and meat options; simple but substantial and curated with the western palate in mind. My order of the breakfast hot plate was sumptuous and I could have licked my (hot pan) clean! That yummy!
As for the beverage selection, I could not resist the special season offering of plum infused latte. Served either hot or cold. I went for the cold option and whilst ‘odd’ by pairing, I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up having to order a second. Quietly zingy, the plum/ coffee combo, with frothy topping intrigued the tastebuds no end. Best enjoyed after a hearty stir to ensure that the flavours infuse. If you’re after a lactose and vegan friendly option - made with oat-milk - do try this while it’s available.
I would not hesitate to recommend, and k have. Do try.
had a meeting nearby and randomly step into monk’s brew club for a space for work and coffee for the rest of the afternoon.
was pleasantly surprised by the service. it’s really the welcoming vibe when they do ordinary things with extra care. A young staff noticed that my cup was almost empty, took initiative to refill water / provided a fresh bottle. The latte was great too. Will just come back for the vibes
Really had a good experience using their space for rental on the 2nd floor. Work rooms were just nice for 2 person discussion and whiteboards provided were very useful. Staff were attentive and helpful to get stuff for our usage. Food was really tasty as well. Will definitely use their space again.
fries were soggy and coffee split. service was not great either.
(edit, in response:)
i did not mistake being at monk's brew club for being at home. i was certainly at monk's brew club and my review included a line on service - i.e. AT monk's brew club, not a delivery guy.
the fries were definitely not fluffy - and they were served to me in a bowl with another small plate of yoghurt dip, which was also not very good.
i did not say the milk split. i said the coffee split - the milk was too hot.
The cafe is easily accessible.
The ambience and the service was amazing. Music background was comfortable and not over empowering. Great and spacious seating overall.
Tried the cococinno blend. Smooth with a tinge of sweetness and creaminess. Definitely a must try.
Food is not bad but the service could be better, there is no sign please wait to be seat nor there is a sign stating not to proceed to level 2. When trying to proceed to level 2 to have a look a fierce looking guy came and told that is not open, as if looking for a fight and he just walked away after don't even bother to show us to any seats.
Most things are self service i guess, go in take your own menu and go order pay at the cashier, which there is no sign saying that.
Truly hidden gem. I mostly visit cafes for the coffee. Amazing choice of filter coffees and even espresso drinks. Their signature drinks are creative and especially tasty, not to be missed out on. My vocabulary when it comes to food is limited. But to sum up the food would just be delectable.
Friendly staff. Chatted with some of them. Told me the name of monk came from how monks make everything themselves. Nice way of saying everything they sell is made in-house.
Fantastic atmosphere and attentive service! Gin can be paired with soda water (zero calorie)!
Chill vibes and good coffee. Can’t wait for the co-working space they are opening upstairs.
The ambience and vibes is comforting and place is spacious.
Coffee is good but I’m not a picky coffee drinker.
I did not get to try any food as their kitchen was closed when I arrived
Loved the coffee, chocolate chip cookie, and the staff at this place. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Very enjoyable place to hang out with friends.
Khai and Nirra were very hospitable and served us great drinks!! Great vibe. Thank you.
Loved their hojicha. Very central and relaxing atmosphere.
Good food, good service, affordable price... definitely will visit again...
Love the coffee here.
