Reviews of South Side Keppel | Signature Rosti & Roast Chicken
I absolutely adore this quaint little cafe. I've dined here multiple times now and each visit has been nothing short of exceptional. I love the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the food is consistently amazing! Every dish — from the mains to the sides and desserts — is bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The attention to detail in both the cuisine and the service is evident; the staff are not only friendly but also very attentive.
As a coffee enthusiast, I absolutely love their mocha. For those looking to try something unique, I highly recommend the sea salt chocolate. The matcha doesn’t disappoint either!
I heard there’s a new menu that just released but haven’t had the chance to try it out yet. Can’t wait for my next visit!

✨Perfect cafe for a buddies’ night out!✨
Always thought that cafes are a morning/ brunch affair but South Side Keppel has given me a reason to cafe hop at night! Was immediately drawn to their extensive 🍹drinks menu offering cafe favourites like coffee and matcha latte to bar drinks such as wine and craft beer.
Had the following dishes:
- Garlic parmesan chicken with BBQ mayo ($14)
- Wild forest mushroom soup ($12) ⭐️
- Baked miso corn ribs ($8)⭐️
- Roasted French chicken ($24) ⭐️
- Switz Rosti with smoked salmon ($20)⭐️
- Crispy duck confit and waffle ($28)
- Sticky date pudding with soybean gelato ($12)⭐️
- Lychee lager ($15)
- Boyfriend coffee ($12)
- Artuke red wine ($14)
- Earl grey blue flower ($6)
‼️MUST TRY‼️
The Roasted French Chicken definitely impressed for its fall off the bone tender meat and juiciness. The flavour is enhanced by the chicken jus and this dish paired so well with the fluffy light carrot puree. Don’t forget the garlic confit by the side!
The switz rosti is another crowd favourite; thinly shredded potato that’s beautifully pan seared while retaining its fluff. We also enjoyed the mushroom soup which was earthy and dense, together with the teriyaki and miso seasoned corn ribs.
There’s surely something for everyone here so put this on your cafe hopping list! 💌
Nice quaint chill place. Service peeps are great, just a little inexperienced. Food portions are decently sized and the pairing for each dishes needs a little tweak. Eg mushroom soup was great and should be paired with lightly buttered sourdough toast instead of big slice cheese which is a little overpowering.
I had rosti which is not up to my expectations after seeing so many reviews saying it’s good. It’s the thick kind which is filling but too much for 1 sitting. Better for sharing. It’s not bad but I prefer the thin and crispy kind. Oh the desserts were good though, we had the blueberry cheesecake and lychee tart. I recommend the blueberry cheesecake. Place was quite small so luckily my friend already made a reservation in advance. Do note that it’s quite noisy cos of the high ceiling and the place looks darker irl as compared to the photos.
Mushroom soup was really good. Rosti personally the strings were too thin and the texture was different from the usual rosti. Will give it a miss. Hojicha and latte was not bad.
Nice pet friendly atmosphere with natural sunlight. Understand that there’s a 90 mins dining period, very reasonable, just wish the manager (?) could have a better service attitude when telling us. The younger waitress was very polite and nice.
South Side Keppel Cafe has quickly become my go-to spot for meeting friends and enjoying a relaxing cup of coffee. The moment you step in, you're greeted by a quiet, cozy, and chill ambiance that makes it the perfect place to unwind.
Each dish is crafted with care and offers a delightful surprise with every bite. It's evident that the kitchen staff put a lot of thought into their menu. I highly recommend to try their rosti.
What really sets South Side Keppel Cafe apart, though, is the attentive and friendly staff. Vanessa, Anne, Mark and Ryan (not really sure if I remember their names correctly lol) just go above and beyond to make sure every customer feels welcome and well taken care of.
If you're looking for a great place to catch up with friends or just enjoy some quiet time with a delicious cup of coffee, South Side Keppel Cafe is the place to be. Highly recommended!
Love the small bites (sharing food) and the burger was really juicy and delicious 🤤.
Came with my family to celebrate my father’s birthday 🎉
The staff here are very accommodating and very friendly. Highly recommend to bring your friends or family here :)
Surprisingly the highlight of my dinner is the cheese bread that came with the mushroom soup. I ordered the barramundi, but I felt it could be better. The earl grey mocha was interesting. Cafe is wheelchair friendly with flat surface throughout, including the toliet. However carpark is limited and rates are quite expensive if you come before 6pm.
Visited South Side on a Sunday around 10 a.m. for brunch. Surprisingly, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only two occupied tables. Despite this, the server informed us that all the tables were “reserved” and asked if we (a party of two) would be okay sitting at a high-top 2x2 table. We reluctantly agreed and placed our order.
When our food arrived, the waitress asked if we could split our already small table to accommodate these “reservations.” This request was baffling, as the restaurant remained empty, and no new diners came in during our meal. By the time we left, the restaurant had only one additional group of three diners, and the majority of the tables were still unoccupied.
The food itself was decent and reasonably priced, but the service and seating arrangements were frustrating. It felt like the restaurant was creating an illusion of busyness that didn’t reflect reality. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a recurring issue.
While the food was enjoyable, the overall experience was dampened by the unnecessary seating drama. Would I return? Only if the management reconsiders their approach to reservations and customer treatment.
Nice place and ambience, but a long walk from the MRT station. tater tots was good, rosti with cheese and mushroom is also good. However, I find the truffle mushroom linguine not creamy enough, a little too watery. All’s good.
A cosy place. Need to make reservations especially for meal time.
Flat white is good. Good coffee beans.
Beef was ok, a little tough for me.
Rosti was good, could be better if it’s thinner as I prefer crispy ones.
Service was ok.
Parking is not so convenient, need to park nearby HDB.
Food was all great, portion is huge (for me) and quality is great! Mushroom rosti and soup were awesome!
Visited this place 2 weeks ago, cozy place and good service. Didn’t manage to try their rosti as it was sold out, so just ordered coffee and the grill chicken. Both food and coffee is tasty and good. Will be back again in the future.
Amazing place for dinner and brunch! For starters, I’d highly recommend the mushroom soup and garlic parmesan chicken chunks. All the mains we tried were really good too - especially loved the duck confit waffle! 😊 Roasted chicken and rosti worth trying too.
Best part of all was the dessert. The sticky date pudding was served with soya ice cream that’s so creamy! I will be back just for this. They also have daily happy hour from 5-7pm.
Check out @mentaik.o on ig for more food reviews!
Here for the rosti after seeing the IG post.
The rosti didn’t disappoint, it’s crispy on the outside with a good bite. The melted mozzarella cheese goes really well with rosti!
We really love the baked bean stew in the Big Breakfast - mildly spicy.
Will be back for their French Poulet!
A cafe in Tanjong Pagar with beautiful natural light from dawn till dusk, and beaaautiful interior🥹🥹
The food served was very enjoyable!! special mention for the Half French Chicken and Duck Confit which were so tender and flavorful. Just one swipe of my fork and oooooff, the meat came right off. Almost didn't need any sauces too! Tempe fans will certainly love the tempe fingers that are stirred in a sweet savoury spicy sauce. So sticky and waaay too addictive for good 🥹🤣
Pay close attention to the drinks menu because it is pretty ex-teeenn-sivveee and GOOD! My sea salt earl grey mocha was unlike any other; light enough to be refreshing yet, thick and rich enough to satisfy.
Shared these items with a couple of friends and we were stuffed silly-jolly.
🐔 Roasted Half French Chicken with Carrot Puree, Garlic Confit, Tomatoes
🐮 Wagyu Grain Bowl with Ikura & Onsen Egg
🍝 Pesto Fettucine
🦆 Crispy Duck Confit with Waffle
🥔 Switz Rosti with Smoked Salmon & Sour Cream
🫘 Fried Tempe
🍗 Chicken Karaage
🍲 Mushroom Soup with Cheese Toasted Sourdough
🍮 Sticky Date Pudding
Would certainly recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice place with good food!
This place is so refreshing, I went here after my work all the time . i felt so good and relaxed. special mention to the service of Sarah and Gem . . Their wagyu grain bowl with Lychee Lager is the best combination.
Super impressed with their rosti!!! Best rosti in SG for now (imo); cooked fully through, grated finely so theres more crisped area and it holds that crispiness (not soggy easily). 🔥🤤
Steak was superb first time around (nice fattiness and was easy to bite through) but less so during the second visit (more chewy/veiny when ordered as an added-on site instead of part of the rosti). Might be cause a different side of the cut? Will try again another time nonetheless!
Five star experience on my 1st visit, what a pleasant surprise for my Sunday breakfast cum lunch. Food was tasty and coffee was finely tuned. The air-cond and cleanliness provided a very good feeling for the diners and bright setup was a delight. Not to mention the service staff were very polite and high alert👍👍👍
Reserved the place for 7 (2 kids) and while the original sitting did not allow for our kids to sit proper, the staff (Josephine & Gracia) were kind to arrange tables for us to accommodate the children. Food was served really quickly - the Waffle with Chicken in particular was the highlight of our meal. I look forward to returning!
P.S. There is some outdoor parking available with limited sheltered parking.
Amazing food, vibes and service!! I particularly enjoyed the rosti, mushroom soup and sticky date pudding! The genmaicha latte was also beyond perfect, really fragrant and aromatic. Would definitely revisit again. 💯😋🥰
Service and Ambience were on point but the food was a bit lacking in depth of flavour. The meat platter was a bit of a let down the routine and desserts were pretty alright - overall experience was enjoyable.
Awesome and friendly staff! Love the atmosphere and windows that make it feel big and airy.
Food was awesome, and definitely will return to try more food :))
Another lovely cafe located in a industrial building. Very cozy ambiance and love the decor. Foodwise wasn't great for us. Had the Rosti with wagyu beef and the fried chicken with waffle. The coffe were okay. Staff were very efficient and professional even though they were quite overwhelmed with a full house
Particularly impressed with their service! The staff was so helpful. We tried their signature crispy golden brown potato goodnes, the Rosti! Would prefer to have it with more sour cream actually! And would request for it to be abit more burnt. Would say the sides are still okay! Spam fries and truffle fries. 👍🏼 We tried their mushroom fusilli. Tasted like our Chinese Mala! 😂 The last item was probably the best I would say; Truffle Cream mushroom linguine. Flavourful and satisfied. Portion I would say it’s quite small. So if you re ordering to share. May need to order a few more items.
In terms of ambience, we still enjoy the vibes. It’s cozy and a nice chill out place.
i’ve been living up the street from this place for the past 6 months and somehow only just discovered it. went in for a late lunch today and had an amazing big breakfast. huge portions and every ingredient on the plate was well prepared. looking forward to trying the rest of the menu!
First time here for lunch and I really enjoyed the food! The star of the show was definitely the rosti - perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delightful blend of flavors along with the grilled salmon. The cozy environment made it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The staff were also friendly and attentive! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to indulge in delicious food with a warm and welcoming atmosphere!
Cozy ambience with delicious food. Ordered the rosti and requested to change onsen egg to sunny side up. Rosti was crispy on the surface but yet soft inside. Truffle Mushroom Linguine was also very flavourful.
The food is below par and some tasted odd. Pls do some r&d: hummus is overly sweet and tasted gross and I’ve never seen an overly thick pita bread which is under grilled and doughy. Spam fries- easiest junk food to make but the spam wasn’t crispy and is completely tasteless- counterfeit spam anyone?
Food is not too bad, including the mocha ice. Like the service - accommodating eg change table, etc. Ambience wise - good for small gathering and chit chat
Had the chicken waffle and rosti with mushrooms. Chicken was tender and fried well, paired with the waffles for a sweet note. Rosti was filling but not too heavy.
Best dish that we had is rosti. The other dishes are just normal and nothing special. As for the drinks, it was kind of bland.
Went on a weekend lunch, the place was filled. Could not get a seat, highly recommend to do a reservation before heading down.
So we took takeaway and sat at the chairs outside. The service staff were very kind to serve us ice water too!
Tried the Garlic parmesan chicken chunks and the Wagyu beef rosti with ikura. Normally not a fan of ikura, but it went so well with the rosti and sour cream. The chicken chunks were also not bad, but a tad bit salty for my liking.
Overall 4.5 stars.
Congratulations on your first anniversary South Side !
Must try new dishes are Crispy Duck Confit , Burnt Brussels Sprout, Fish & Chips, White Wine Clam & Red Wine Beef Cheek which are awesome !
Absolutely love the tenderness and taste of Grilled French Poulet and the Apple Crumble desert is the best I’ve tried !
The customer service exceeded my expectations. Kudos to Sarah for providing outstanding service. Despite the high volume of customers, she provided attentive service.
Food was really nice. Service staff was also friendly. Will come back to try other stuff.
Went down on a public holiday at 1pm for their Rosti but they were already sold out! Restaurant should have catered for bigger crowds, especially since reservations were already made and Rosti is one of the signature dishes. Although place stated it’s pet friendly, it is only for the outside seats, which were pretty hot. Would recommend having some fans for the outdoor seating. Overall food was good but service could be better as they seemed a little under staffed.
food was really good!! and the service was warm too. we had the truffle mushroom linguine and the garlic parmesan chicken chunks. the pasta was nice and al dente, and the truffle wasn't overbearing. the chicken was hot and fresh and crispy and the paired spicy mayo worked great with the chicken. we came close to closing, but Josephine, one of their servers, was nice enough to accommodate us and even as the kitchen was cleaning up. definitely would come again!!
Fantastic location for a weekend brunch! Love the place and the food. Really delicious and tasty, will definitely be back again!!
Beautiful and comfortable atmosphere and a fantastic place for lunch. we ordered the rosti and I loved how crispy and delicious it was. The coffee and biscoff cake was delicious as well! Josephine also gave fantastic service and was very friendly and welcoming the whole time.
Always enjoyed myself here whenever I come.
Loved the Rosti which was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
The hummus was creamy & flavorful.
Their pesto fettuccine had a nutty kick which enhanced the dish.
Don’t forget to try their Genmaicha latte as well!
They are also vegan friendly with many selections on the menu, so do drop by! :)
It was a calm cafe with a lot of good vegetarian options. We really enjoyed all the dishes.
2 thumbs up for ms. sarah who assisted me so well, she offer a lot of things. Good service and friendly staff . I will come back because of the service because the food quite good but the service is ace thanks to ms. sarah
It was my first time here and I would like to express my gratitude towards the staffs, especially Rachel and Jonathan. I came with my family to have lunch there and Rachel was very attentive and thoughtful to us and even offered us water. A very courteous girl!
As piccolo was not in the menu, we wanted to order espresso and milk on the side. Jonathan understood us and was kind enough to make the special order for us. He was also very polite and nice when we were talking to him. A very courteous guy too!
Overall the food did not disappoint and were very nice! Had their rosti w wagyu and ikura, truffle mushroom linguine, big breakfast, parmesan chicken chunks, mushroom soup, spam fries and 3 flat whites with a piccolo latte. Jonathan is very good with his coffee skills and the latte art on the coffees were very nice. I had a very good experience with the food and service and I will definitely be back again with my friends.
Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/
Visited on a weekday brunch time with my pet dog. Staff were initially unclear about whether pets were allowed inside/to sit outside. The website stated "pet friendly" without further details. Noted from staff that pets only allowed outside. Outdoor seating was along the roadside, seats facing the road, would not recommend. Also the table was too low for the bench chair making it rather difficult to eat - would be ok if you only ordered drinks.
Rosti with cheese and mushroom was very good! Crispy on the outside and soft & moist on the inside.
Pita with hummus was good but hummus could be smoother. Came with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, walnuts and almonds, with a hint of sweetness.
Would go again with pets if outdoor seating is improved.
Rylee and Jonathan are the best servers i met always having a smile on their faces. Will always love coming here.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Great selection of delicious meals, great coffee and prompt service. Highly recommended.
Food is ok, but overpriced and service is mediocre.
Came on a weekday evening for an early dinner. Portions were on the smaller end but taste was ok. Salmon Rosti only had a small piece of salmon and mushroom Rosti didn’t have much mushrooms.
There wasn’t much service to speak of. We had a missing fork despite being the only customers there.
Personally, I also didn’t like that water was not being served until we asked (for a restaurant of this price point). That said, at least they provided free water.
Very crowded on a Sat morning. Nice place but not as cosy as their social media pics. Food is okay only for the price point.
loving the atmosphere of this place!
staffs were really friendly and engaging, especially Rylee as he was serving at the bar. Gave really good cafe/drinks recommendation too
Being a fan of rostis, I was really happy that they have them in the menu. On top of that, their rosti was cooked to perfection. I’ve enjoyed it throughly along with the pairing of a pint of beer. Definitely will go back again!
Decided to treat myself on my birthday. Had the pesto fettuccine, mesclun salad, wild forest mushroom soup, mojito kombucha (non-alcoholic), strawberry basil sorbet, soyabean gelato, earl grey cocoa topped of with a glass of blue ribbon beer with a dash of lime. An overall balanced meal that's mindful of the waistline as I decide to pig out on a special occasion. Fantastic ambience to soak in while I took my time stuffing my face with glorious food. Taste of each item was rich yet balanced at the same time. No food coma surprisingly! 10/10 will come back again and get my friends to treat me. Got my eyes on the pistachio gelato, smoked cheese and honeycomb ice-cream to end after the spicy umami mushroom fusili.
Very good food and drinks here. Ambience is 10/10 too. Also love that they had unsweetened matcha latte here where you could actually taste the matcha rather than an overpowering sweetness.
Rosti was shiok, great service as well
Yummy rosti with sauteed mushrooms🤩😋😋 should try🤗 Great and chill place to dine😍
Excellent service by Sarah and great food with choices, 10/10 will recommend!
Food & Services - thumb Up !!! No doubt a 5 stars grading !!
Highly Recommended !!!
Will be back again !
The rosti and the big breakfast were absolutely delicious. The iced genmaicha was really tasty too!
Service was amazing, enjoyed the food - only the wooden benches weren’t very comfortable
Food and ambience was decent but way too overpriced.
It is the best place around the hdb estates there within 300m
Cozy atmosphere with good food but what stood out was the excellent service by the lady who served us! She was kind and accommodating towards my dietary requirements. We’ll be back to try more dishes next time!
