Reviews of Tiong Bahru Bakery
Pricey as expected but lovely space and today's food was on point. Shared a Bacon and scrambled egg sourdough sgd12 and Apple chausson sgd8.5 with my husband.
Sourdough was tasty with the cheese and bacon. Tomatoes in it were juicy. Scrambled eggs were way over cooked, they should just change it to omelette if they can't get the scrambled eggs runny. Bread itself was alright but as expected of sourdough, crust was tough. Apple chausson was very delicate and sweet, packed with substantial amount of apple filling. Perfect pastry for those with sweet tooth.
Both of us also ordered drinks. His cafe latte sgd6 (free upsize due to food ordered) was smooth and nicely bitter. I ordered a turmeric latte but was served a hojicha latte, both cost the same sgd6.5 and anyway I was deciding between the two, so I didn't mind. Also because the old lady serving us the drinks was so matronly and lovely that I didn't have the heart to make her bring back the drink to get it changed. The houjicha latte was pretty good, fragrant and not too sweet, had the oomphy kick of houjicha, was a great neutraliser of the sweet apple chausson.
Atmosphere was great, chill indie music playing softly in the background. You hear chatter of French expats, conversation of Singaporeans, and the clinking of coffee cups on saucers. There's a lovely area with natural light but unfortunately it's near kitchen and toilets. Air con is adequate. Service is pretty good, no negative vibe. They open so early at 7.30am when almost nothing else in the area is open.
We'll definitely be back to chill here with a cuppa if we're in the vicinity on a weekday morning.
Had breakfast here at around 830am as Little Farms kitchen only opens at 9am. Had a bacon and scrambled eggs sourdough, apple chausson, hojicha latte, and cafe latte. Everything was pretty good. The sandwich was very hearty, though the sourdough was a bit chewy and had to bite off at times. Hojicha latte legit tastes like hojicha without being overly sweet, and cafe latte was creamy and smooth, but I would've liked it a bit stronger. Apple chausson was sweet as expected. 5th bill came up to be just under $40 for 2. Pricey, but service was earnest and ambience was pretty good as well.
Always come here for breakfast with my family on Sunday. We love the free flow of butter and jam here, especially when you spread them on heated up baguette. Your staff Vicky always provide us with 5 stars service.
I like the egg mayo with salmon croissant. The crust is so crispy. The egg mayo blended well with the smoked salmon. Today the kouign amann is really crispy too. The bread set is good with their jam and butter!!
Add: Had the mushroom croissant, it was very satisfying. The apple crumble was ok. I find the crust is not crispy enough and a bit flat.
Nice pastries especially the croissants. They have a big variety of drinks and non-coffee latte like tumeric latte, hojicha latte, and tbb teh tarkk latte. The lemon meringue tart is good too. Water is free and not tap water like what most places provide.
A nice place to have early breakfast before the crowd is in.
Food presentation was excellent.
Alot of selection. They are Freshly made and all looks so tempting to eat. Really spoilt for choices.
The only challenge here is carparking. At times difficult to find parking during peak times.
Is a nice cosy cafe for breakfast and brunch. Look out for the part of the cafe with the skylight. Great for photography and that warm and fuzzy feel.
Have a good drink list (see pics) with tea and coffee to host your community of friends.
Service is fast and excellent.
Parking on weekend is quite a challenge should u choose to plan a visit.
Came here for some dessert (Green Tea Almond Croissant) and enjoyed the cozy space and beautiful hand drawn artwork on the walls. It was early evening so the place wasn’t too packed for a weekday, great for enjoying our drinks (Iced Red Mint Tea and Oat Sesame Latte). The staff were very friendly. Do check out some of their other products as they sell honey, jams, caffeine-free tea capsules and pâtés.
Consistent quality at any outlet. This one’s cozy, but not a place where u can spend a lot of time. Had the eggplant Zaatar sandwich and Kouign Amann with a croissant 🥐 and a latte. Got lucky with parking, but usually is probably difficult.
Very good buttery Croissants with crispy, flaky top layer! No Teh O Kosong nor Kopi Siu Dai though. The large Latte is $7.20
Environment is very chill and vibe there is good. The food are generally still ok, but do not order the ham and cheese baguette as it is super hard. Never eat before so hard bread before…
Pastries at Tiong Bahru Bakery never fail to wow me. Couldn't resist temptation and bagged more after dining there. Must try ❤
good place with good ambience atmosphere. only thing is that items are expensive, 1 bread is like $5 or more. also, for some reason the tables have a rusty metal smell, which i don't like. other than that, all's good.
I had a great experience at the Tiong Bahru bakery today thanks to the friendly and helpful service from Zul.
He was able to recommend the perfect pastry for me and even gave me a sample to try before I made my decision.
The bakery itself was clean and inviting, and the pastries I purchased were fresh and delicious.
I would definitely recommend stopping by and asking for Zul if you're in the area - he really made my visit enjoyable.
Thank you, Zul!
Weekdays are more quiet and hence, it is a great place to wind down, have a cuppa and eat a bake here. Very cosy interior.
Honestly coffee has been average at TBB but had a great latte last week and my friends teh drinks were extra good at their Gardens outlet last week so kudos to the team.
This is probably one of my favourite Tiong Bahru Bakery (TBB) outlets. I have been coming here regularly previously before my son's swimming lessons to get takeaway coffee and pastries for breakfast.
My son is below 6 and he would love looking at how the baristas made the coffee. After payment was made, he would rush to the coffee making station and looking intently at the coffee making process.
One male staff member (Unfortunately I didn't get his name), somehow remembered us. He was very kind and jovial. He would specially go out of his way by bending down to show my son how he made the latte art.
Due to scheduling reasons, I haven't gone back as often as previously. However, he still remembered my son. My mother in law has stopped by the outlet on several Thursday evenings to get the pastries. He would always make it a point to strike up a conversation with my son, and he even remembered our previous orders and his swimming lessons on Sunday.
Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make daily encounters so warm and memorable. We really appreciate it!
Had a hearty brekkie at this relatively new outlet. Love the egg mayo salmon burger! 🍔🥐🥗
They pastry is something… and coffee on high standard
Friendly staff, delicious pastries! Took away so there was no queue for me despite it being a Saturday morning.
I love love looooove Tiong Bahru bakery so much so I was super excited when I saw there is a branch in Serangoon Gardens! I came in 2 minutes prior to closing time, I remember because I checked my phone and so I was like yas!!! And even more happy when I saw there were still multiple breads left and I was really craving for a kouign amann for the longest time. But the guy at the counter told us they were already closed (at 7:58pm, 2 mins prior to closing time) & that the breads left were going to charity... I mean I'm all for charity but isn't this firstly a business and it wasn't even closing time yet...
PS. I wasn't even going to dine in, I have a conscience and was planning to buy for takeout.
My favourite TB among all other outlets. Serving staff including the managers, Sky & Alan are amazing, and not forgetting Chew Yan who never fail to delight customers with her bubbly persona. With freshly served pasries and great selection of beverages that made me feel so next to home. Thumbs up!
Love x infinity for the croissants..Best best best. A bit steep in pricing for drinks but nice!! Oh yes, the lemon drizzle cake is awesome too! Great staff and nice takeaway packaging :)
Beef and tomato croissant was good. Beef slices were not too hard. Acidity of the tomatoes were a cut through the heaviness of the beef nicely.
Ambience was chill, service was good.
But sound really echoes throughout the place - there was a group of ladies laughing really rambunctiously and we had to shout over their laughter to hear each other
Best almond croissants in Singapore 4.9/5
Long queue at the "Rumour has it" campaign, staff remained cheery though visibly overwhelmed.
Always good pastry, cannot pay by cash. Good takeaway packaging.
Excellent service, delicious croissants!
Latte was good as recommended in the menu.
Quaint and cosy, the most east you can get for a tiong bahru bakery. If you can get parking, its a neat little place.
Service was excellent and the quality matching that of any other branch. Can't wait for my next time here sipping coffee and indulging in a croissant.
I really love TBB's brioche and kouign-amann but I wish I could love the vibes too. TBB at Maju Ave does not have the best acoustics. Coupled with loud music and raised voices -presumably to be heard- it's definitely not a place you want to go chill and have a cuppa. TBB really need to up its ambiance game.
Went to the bakery today to chill and have a croissant. Service was excellent, the guy was very friendly. Croissant was alright.
A little pricey but flat white and chocolate tart were yummy
I cant eat anything here as its not halal but the coffee i still drink and its very nice especially the atmosphere and service too.
Newest TBB outlet, but unfortunately not pet-friendly even though it's located in this mini enclave where there are quite a number of pets. A rather small outlet so be ready to queue for seats.
Love their pastries - Croissants, Kouign-amann are my favourites. Their coffee is pretty decent too.
Excellent breakfast. Good service .
Great place for lovely baked bread. It can get crowded, with the staff a little surly. Other than that we really love the bakes here.
Tried Bak kwa Amann last week and its sooooo good!!!! But I don't see it in menu this week, is this a rotation items? Please make it a regular items, at least last for whole of Feb for CNY!!!! LOVE IT!!!
The pastries are really out of this world. A little on the pricey side but it’s money well spent. The coffee art is a little iffy though.
The food is not bad, but nothing special. Place is really aesthetic, but not worth the steep prices.
Ham and cheese croissants, pull pork bun and coffees are incredibly tasty.
To go brunch place. Extreme comfort
Always takeaway croissant from here.
Super friendly staff, great ambience and fantastic pastries
Great bakery. Felt alittle too rowdy to really chill.
Best lemon tart in (my) world!
I love LOVE LURVE the chocolate tart here so much!!!
Awesome place and a must visit.Enjoyed it
