Reviews of Twenty Eight Cafe
Nice cosy place to hangout, surprised by the huge portion. It’s decent, though I felt the Common Breakfast is a tad underwhelming. Scrambled egg is bland and dry, avo is hard rather than soft creamy, hash brown can taste a hint of stale cooking oil.
Coffee is good though, I enjoyed that.
I enjoyed the Wild mushroom Aglio Olio. They are generous with the helping of Mushrooms.
For the souffle, it's soft and nice with yummy raspberries and whipped cream and maple syrup!
I like the ambience. Highly recommend! Will certainly come back again.
Situated in a quiet part of the Mount Sophia area and housed in this beautiful heritage building, Twenty Eight Cafe features a range of all-day dishes, pastries, coffee, and other beverages.
Went during brunch time on a weekday and the place was quiet with a couple of other customers. Ordering and paying is via QR code unless you're having it to-go. Ordered the Pan Seared Chicken Breast, Smoothie Bowl, Ham & Cheese Croissant, and the Egg Mayo Croissant - all were great but wished the serving sizes of both the chicken breast and smoothie bowl was bigger especially for its price. Ordered the Long Black both hot and cold - very good!
Dining time is limited to 90 mins so might need to take this into consideration. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the store atmosphere and ambiance was very cozy and relaxing. Would recommend this especially if you're not tied to a budget.
Quiet, quiet gem at an unassuming part of town. Best place to chill down & write a few paras in your diary away from the usual hustle & bustle in everything with some great food options!
Good value brunch. Steak and eggs were reasonably priced and taste great. However poached eggs were overcooked. Mushroom with rosti was delicious too. Coffee was strong!
Went back for a second visit, rosti wasn't as crisp and was too wet.
Hole in the wall that serves pretty good food in large portions. Had the burger, and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. The food was delicious and very filling. We wanted to try the pancakes for dessert but had no space! Came back for it another day and it was extremely soft and fluffy. Breakfast was however not very filling.
The food was good and the service was quick! I only had an issue with the online ordering it took a while to load.. perhaps it was my own connection.. the cafe does provide wifi so pls use that so you won’t experience any delay!
My table had two plates of carbonara
A Beef pappardelle ⭐️
I built my own toast! the bacon was extremely ❤️
Everything was yummy indeed!
The place has really chill vibes and makes for a very good Saturday brunch. The fish and chips I ordered had very crispy fries but the fish batter was very chewy and unpalatable. I ended up leaving the batter and only having the fish. Since I enjoyed the ice latte and the food my friends ordered were good, I give it a 4 stars. Friends ordered pasta, pancakes and eggs benedict.
Nice cafe, food was nice. Had the pulled pork sandwich which was definitely a winner. Hard to find a really good quality sandwhich in singapore.
The atmoshpere just lacked a little bit is my main complaint, but that wont deter me from going back. Worth a visit.
Note, limited parking close by so be prepared for a few minutes walk.
Got there early and had breakfast before we work from cafe! :)
1. Food was great! See photos :)
2. Only downside was we were given a cup with lipstick mark, quite worried about the cleanliness and hygiene. Got 2 mosquitoe bites as well :(
3. Overall was good, love the Indian Churros :)
Eggs Benedict (1/5):
It was a disappointment. I can’t taste the hollandaise sauce at all. The eggs are too cooked and the spinach(below the eggs) was cooked. The bread tasted like those butter bread from western store in Kopitiam. I totally do not recommend ordering Eggs Benedict here.
Common Breakfast (4/5):
Portion was huge. Ingredients were decent except for the corn, could use sweeter one. Scrambled egg was nicely done but salt and pepper were only given upon request.
Coffee (4/5):
Flat White and Mocha tasted decent. However, the drink were not hot enough (you know the perfect coffee temperature).
Overall:
There is a dining limit of 90 mins and it’s free seating. You could order from your table with the QR code provided. There are plenty of plugs around the store if you want to charge your phone or laptop.
Superb place if you want to work for long hours. They have decent WiFi and power sockets and a space that’s friendly for 1-3 people to work from as a group.
Their breakfast menu was excellent and I loved that it was highly customisable.
Not a fan of their chai latte - it was too sweet. Maybe having options on how sweet drinks should be would help.
Service was commendable!
Had brunch here with reservation.
Great atmosphere and location. Plenty of parking along the back streets or in the buildings.
Had the katsu sando and coffee.
Portion size was good. Definitely will not leave hungry.
The sando is interesting as the bread is fluffy and soft. The pork katsu is well fried, thick and juicy.
Coffee was nutty and well portioned. Enjoyable.
Didn’t have the rest of the items but the feedback was it tastes fine.
Cute place with more affordable coffee menu!! Love it, IMO their flat white tasted way more delicious, less bitter than Chye Seng Huat's. Espresso was not over extracted. Foam was thin and nice just the way it should be. Nice latte art as well!! Kuddos to the barista. Food portion could be bigger tho.
Nice and spacious place. Quite a number of people doing their work at the cafe. Went there for Eggs Benedict and it was not bad. Like the combination of avocado & Eggs Benedict. The Cajun chicken was pretty tasty too. Everything is contactless, from ordering to payment, nice!
Interesting ‘signs’ for guys who couldn’t locate the gents…
Spacious cafe with nice ambience. Ordered almond croissant and yuzu lemon pastry and both are pretty good. They also serve drinking water which is a plus.
I’m giving this place 4 stars because the cashier was quite unfriendly but other staff was nice.
Loved the coffee, it was really as good as I've had in Melbourne, excellent! And they have nice croissants as well.
Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere with plenty of seats. Highly recommend in this area.
A bit of a walk from the nearest MRT station, but the clams in the vongole were really good. A spacious cafe with lots of power plugs as well, if you intend to do a bit of work while waiting for an appointment. Do take note that there is a dine-in time limit.
staff are super friendly. accommodating customers request at their best effort.
try to avoid weekend as it will be super packed.
must try their signatures pancake souffle, good to share as afternoon tea break
do check out their cakes selection, sometime it out from in house bake.
feel free to give feedback as they welcome feedback so that can improve on the receipt.
Wow what a great space... plenty of seating and great menu. Really good coffee. Prices may be a little higher than other places (my flat white was $5.40) but it’s a great cafe. They also had a good selection of pastries at the counter if you didn’t want a full meal.
In for breakfast and it was quite quiet so hence 3 * for atmosphere and 5* for service as really quick and friendly. We both had the smashed avo and it was fantastic, one of the best ever!
Nice airy cafe with many seats. Great coffee and small but sufficient sample of pastries. Ordered a mentaiko salmon rice bowl which seemed out of place in a western type of setting but the dish came steaming hot with a nice runny egg hidden underneath the salmon. Salmon is more on the cooked side tho.
Had a flat white and a salmon egg croissant. The coffee was on point and at the right temperature for me. I loved the croissant. Crispy with fluffy eggs. Total bill was higher than expected though.
The food here is surprisingly good, staff are friendly. I tried most of their recommend food Cajun chicken, Mentaiko Salmon and pancakes all are delicious(good coffee too). The interior design is minimalist and spacious. The only downside will be finding a car parking lot near there.
Food was decent, coffee too. Just a new place to try on a weekend. No reservations required, so that's good. Ample seating when we arrived at 11.30am. I had the beef lasagna which was pretty nice. My partner's crab linguine wasn't impressive, sauce too watery and barely any crab meat. His milkshake was a way too sweet for my liking. No depth in the flavour profile, just a sugar hit with every mouthful.
Had the berry pancakes ($16) which were really fluffy and great. However personally felt that it was a tad sweet. Yoghurt on the side was also sweet. But it was nice with the walnuts. Overall worth trying once but probably wouldn’t come back again for the price.
Really nice setting in a calm street with lots of space inside
Coffee is ok (I am very picky about my coffee)
Food is quite good but pricey
Service is good except one of the people there he just looks and acts grumpy all day
Love this cafe!!
1) Very chill and cosy ambience
2) Serve delicious food and coffee
3) Opens at 730am
Good place for chill and meet up with family and friends with good food pairing.
5 stars alone for the warm, friendly welcome of the staff (especially the barista!). Loved that it was also spacious and not crowded..will definitely be back to try the food.
Coffee? Not the best but definitely one of the better ones..
Cosy cafe that serves really yummy food! Food variety was great too & there will be something for everyone! Very delightful experience!
Expected it to be full on the weekends, but surprisingly vacant. The breakfast sets that they had available were delicious, albeit a little expensive.
While it was kinda out of the way for public transport, there are parking lots closeby.
Food was great and service was efficient. My katsusando was huge and delicious. Iced latte was strong.
Can get a little noisy because of the bare bones, industrial decor.
Overall I really liked this cafe! Happened to stumble upon it and it's nice and spacious on the inside--perfect for a quick stopover or study session (though I believe there is a 90 minute limit on dine-in). The service was top notch, and the eggs + avocado + toast set I got was pretty good! Didn't love the dirty matcha latte I got, but the other coffee drinks looked delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're looking for a coffee/food break in a pretty chill space!
most lovely music playlist ~ makes coffee & breakfast all more beautiful! And not forgetting the most classily wonderful service from all the waiter and waitresses.
great food, cozy atmosphere and a great working space. kudos to service staff Ash for her great service! will definitely return again 😄
This cafe is my top favourite! Love their latte and croissant which are my everyday food. They have the best fluffy pancake in SG. Must try! The staffs are friendly and nice too 👏
Had a walk around Mount Sophie and stumbled upon a big cafe with a lot of seating. Manage to try their big breakfast, simple breakfast but portion is huge.
Love this place, service is great, food is fantastic and I'm really enjoying the coffee. The burger is amazing!
Very industrial vibe cafe. It’s quite hidden so you wouldn’t know this place. Too bad we can’t try their items because we are going elsewhere so we only had coffee. Will be back to try their items!
Nice place to chill out with friends, serve a good variety of food, I have Common breakfast indeed not common 😋 , taste excellent with satisfaction and also enjoyed the nice cappuccino ☕. 👍
My go to brunch spot!
Lovely cafe in a colonial building with an industrial feel inside. Nice ambience. High ceilings. Good for a quiet conversation. Good coffee.
Ordered the eggs Benedict and it was very mid🥲 I remembered ordering the dish but it somehow got messed up and they gave me scrambled eggs instead. And the scrambled eggs were not the fluffy and light kind they were over cooked and not rly pleasant, I felt the whole dish wasnt cafe-quality esp for the price😭 my friend ordered the wild mushroom pasta and it was good, ambience is good too can study/work there
Best café experience in Singapore. We loved the Aesthetic and the food as well. Never had better fluffy pancakes!
What a gem this place is. We have had brunch there twice and the food is fabulous. Big generous servings, beautifully presented and even more importantly, the food tastes even better than it looks. We have tried the Common breakfast, which is enough for two people, the pulled pork sandwich and the mushroom rosti. Prices are very reasonable, so definitely value for money. Service is great and the place is very clean. I think this will be our new local. They also do great coffee and drinks. They have cakes as well, but we haven't tried them yet.
Nested in a nice neighborhood… cafe with very good coffee… nice food like smoked salmon croissant, Cajun chicken, mushroom aglio olio…
Awesome food. Back several times already. Highly recommend the sakura ebi pasta
Good service, environment and food. A lot of powerpoints to support digital nomads too.
Ambience is good with good space and high ceiling and large windows, allowing nice soft sun though it the afternoon. Comfortable background music. However the coffee standard isn't great. Can't really taste the coffee in the flat white and the drink is not hot enough. Have not tried the food here, so can't comment.
$8.20 for a large cafe latte and $6.70 for a double espresso is a bit too much. For coffee at a more reasonable price, try the Apartment round the corner.
Good thing is that will always be tables here so finding a seat is easy.
Had a really pleasant dining experience here, so am inspired to write about it. All servers are very attentive, and probably professionals from the F&B sector. The café vibe seems to me very Aussie - laid-back and low-key chic. While the menu itself is the usual western fare, it does have plenty of variety, from the sheer range of croissants and pastries, soup and salads to pasta and pizza selections available. There’s even a section for fusion food, eg soba. Coffee is excellent. Complementary water in the form of a classy pouring bottle is available at all tables.
Reminds me of the cafe atmosphere in Melbourne. One of the best cafe to have authentic iced chocolate.
Every time I visited, I have been given excellent service and food. Love the brunch time here on Sunday, atmosphere is relaxed. Tried their souffle pancakes, french toast, egg breakfast and coffee, and I was so happy! One of my favorite places!
Lovely ambience. Very positive vibes all around. Food was good with some unique drinks and pastries. Cafe has a 2 hour dining limit which tbh is not too bad. Totally worth a visit if you are in the area!
So freaking worth it
One of the best brunch places i’d go again all the time
Good value and money breakfast. Had the big fry up breakfast, most of the stuff were not bad, esp. liked the scrambled eggs and hash browns. Strangely, they don't do the sauteed mushrooms well.
Good location and good view to chill for Brunch
Though it’s takeaway now, service standard and coffee is fantastic! Looking forward to dining in. 👍👍👍👍👍
Lovely cafe with excellent service. The space makes you feel like you're in a cafe in Melbourne. Coffee here is excellent
Good coffee. The avacado toast was a bit soggy
The pancake is fluffy. The salad is delicious.
Very nice and modern restaurant with a great breakfast selection. Here you get a good selection of cafes and can feast on sandwiches and sweet pastries. You can get a table on a weekday without a reservation.
I think the soufflé pancakes are the signature here.
The seats are spacious, so even families will not have trouble finding a seat. It's bright and good.
Apparently the bread comes from the bakery Bakehouse.
Very tasty breakfast.
It's difficult to see that the ordering method is at the counter, but the food is delicious, and the pancakes take about 30 minutes, but they're fluffy and delicious.
