Reviews of Singapore Botanic Gardens
What a fabulous way to spend a morning in Singapore. Despite it being a Sunday the gardens didn’t feel crowded at all.
On our walk we encountered quite a few animals including squirrels, plenty of water monitors, birds and even a beautiful paradise tree snake.
Well worth a visit
The place is good for families picnic. Have wild chickens, monitor lizards, birds, etc... for kids to check out while running around. Good for daily active for local president. A lot of trees. I visited both on weekdays and weekends, you should go on weekdays as it is less people, more quiet. Friendly with pet, near mrt. Recommended to bring food and water along if you plan a long hours playing here, don't forget your umbrella, too.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a lush, verdant oasis in the heart of the city, offering a serene escape from urban life. The highlight is the National Orchid Garden, which showcases an incredible variety of orchids in a beautifully curated environment. The vivid colors and intricate designs of the orchids are truly mesmerizing, making it a photographer’s paradise. The garden is meticulously maintained, with every corner revealing a new floral wonder. Whether you're a nature lover or just looking to unwind, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, especially the National Orchid Garden, is a must-visit.
I visited this place the same day before the Eras Tour, and we were already tired before the concert, lol. I didn’t anticipate the walking I needed to do to explore, but despite that, this was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in Singapore. There were plenty of picture-worthy spots, and it was very serene, peaceful, and clean. We did get lost a few times, though, haha!
Simply beautiful! Peerless! One of the best botanic I have visited.
Keep a full aside with kids to complete this garden along with the National Orchid Garden.
An island of nature....so beautiful the tall trees the lush shrubs...a symphony of greens with incredible range of textures and shapes. Then all the speciality gardens, the amazing brightly colored tropical flowers and the orchid and bromeliad gardens are spectacular. But the highlight for me was the otters...spent over an hour being there with 8 of them, some big monitor lizards and the little terrapin turtles. Also saw other otters along a different stream and monkeys and squirrels. I didn't have time to give the birds nor the orchids justice and didn't even get to the ethnobotany section. Wonderful place to visit and so easy to access.
The botanical gardens are a beautiful, free facility. There is only a fee for small areas. A very nice break from the city, even if the weather is very warm. There is usually not much going on and it is easily accessible from all sides. Highly recommended.
I love this place even though it rained as I visited. There are many brilliant, fascinating and unfamiliar plants and animals. Its splendid view with plants and lake is photogenically great. I never seen a park which has such great sceneries.
I also love animals and I could see a squirrel, a lizard and many kinds of birds.
I could see otters unfortunately.
I recommend this place for everyone who is nature lover. I was regrettable that I haven’t come here last time I visited Singapore.
Amazing place for a picnic, or a simple stroll. Definitely a must visit. Would recommend walking from one end to the other end - it is a good exercise, but there isn't much shelters along the way, so do remember to bring a portable fan/umbrella/water.
Gallop Extension is pretty cool as well, and it is not very crowded. I would recommend for locals to head there to explore, and for leisure activities. But for tourists with limited time, it is a section of Botanic Gardens that you can pass!
Tickets for the National Orchid Garden is not too expensive, but I would not recommend to visit it unless you have some spare change laying around (or if you love orchids). Walking around Botanic Gardens is more than enough!
There are tons of flowers and different tree botanical science species available here in this park with their description. A noteworthy place to see nature and its inner beauty
Amazing place for grounding🌿
One of my fave places to be in Singapore, they even had an adventure mapped out for us and i went around solving puzzles while coming across animals.
I also managed to see some wild birds, rainbow chickens and a casually walking dragon. Amazing for a day of picnic, meditation, and earthing!
The park cultural landscape includes a rich variety of historic features, plantings and gardens. Natural and greenery features include.
Free entrance and has a lot to explore, a day is not entirely enough. It is quite big too, allowing a lot of exploration
Went to the Singapore Botanic Gardens this morning after a heavy rain the evening before, and the air was so fresh!! The focus was on Symphony Lake and the Keppel Discovery Wetlands, both of which are part of the Botanic Gardens. The best way to get to Symphony Lake is via Nassim Gate, and I walked past the entrance to National Orchid Garden and then The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens in order to reach the Keppel Discovery Wetlands.
The high point of the walk took place at the pavilion (this is not the symphony stage) of Symphony Lake. I got to witness two otters in the lake chewing on their fish, a turtle trying to steal a bite from one of the otters, the otters drying themselves in the pavilion after their meal, and a monitor lizard appearing out of nowhere!!
The photos below include those taken at Nassim Gate Visitor Centre and en route to the Keppel Discovery Wetlands.
Love the shaded walkways that only allow humans and dogs. Always a joy to visit. Pity the Orchid garden started charging locals $5 per entry. Was free during Covid. Should be free for Singaporeans.
Beautiful gardens, easy access and many options for longer or shorter visits. Cloud forest Orchid dome lovely. Great restaurants in different areas of the park as well.
Stunning! A treasure. Worth every minute, and despite the fact it was hot, plenty of ways to get some reprieve from the heat. I’d go back!
One of the best place in Singapore to enjoy forestry walk. Inside have also Green house, Orchid garden , and can find Otter also!
World Class park but also attracted some world class louts who have problems disposing of their waste. I take it that these louts must be nature lovers since they took the trouble to plan a picnic in our humid weather to enjoy the pleasant greenery. How ironic then they cannot even do the decent thing to keep the park nice and green for others.
Beautifully peaceful scenery place. Beware the humidity if you want to visit in summer. Kinda hot, very humid and not so pleasant whilst walking among flora & the huge garden under the heat. You have to spend at least couple of hours to wander around and take in different areas. Go early to avoid heat
May spend a whole day admiring the beauty of the garden and nature, which was designed 200 years ago and built in 1859. It is a suitable place to relax and learn about nature. There are zones specifically organized for each knowledge category. Inside, there is a restaurant with a good atmosphere. Acces from south via Tanglin gate from Napier MRT station or north via Bukit Timah gate from Botanical Gardens MRT station.
I go early morning, take subway to DT9 then walk all the way south to Napier station. Amazing park, feels like not inside big city. I see kura kura also, and many birds. Some people are very friendly and many people exercise! Very good place for relaxation or exercise early morning!
Free admission. One can simply spend the whole day there. There are cafes, restaurants, gift shop and clean toilets in the Botanic Gardens.
This place needs no introduction. Locals and tourists will definitely visit this place at least once.
Wear sunblock, stay hydrated and enjoy the day.
100% recommended, just come with time because it is a large area and beautiful. You can also find wild animals and places for kids too.
It was a nice walk. I enjoyed the scenery. We had lunch at the foodcourt, food was good so many choices we ordered beef rendang chicken curry.
Give yourself an entire day to explore all the corners of this wonderful garden. The most beautiful being ofcourse the orchid garden. There is an entry ticket for the orchid garden which costs SGD 5 and it's definitely worth it.
2nd visit, 18 years after the first. Orchid Garden is a definite highlight. They also have a stage for events, such as the samba show which I was able to witness.
It is a very well kept and maintained garden, diverse and interesting. Take an umbrella and water because it can be a little warm for some and I found the staff to be honest and very well mannered .
Only place we have like this in Nepal is godawari botanical garden but this one is 100 times better! Lot to learn from Singapore in terms of greenery, cleanliness, manners, development coexisting with ecosystem and more! Absolutely Worth a visit!
Such beauty here. You can see the staff working hard to maintain the grounds. Highly recommend the Orchid Garden even though it’s expensive for tourists. I’m sure they need the money to upkeep and maintain the gardens so we were happy to pay.
A beautiful way to spend the morning wondering around in a spectacular garden. Everything is so lush and (unsurprisingly) tropical.
When to check out the xmas light, couples of people keep hogging the light area to take photos (what a '🐚🐟' person 😃).
So, I did not have the close-up photo.
PS: I have edited away the 🐚🐟 person who hogs the area with photos.
(Thank you, samsung)
Over all beautiful places to drop by, air is good. When there with my doggos. Now they don't want to leave. 🙃
It’s a great spot for locals looking to enjoy a casual picnic or hang out with friends. However, for tourists, it might not be the most convenient option due to the longer walk and time commitment.
One of the best places I have been in singapore!!! It is too big that we could only cover orchid garden . It is a must see place. I can say that it looked like a switzerland in singapore during the rainy day.So many varieties of Orchid are there. However we need to do a lot of walking inside .so, do ensure you wear comfortable shoes and ready to walk
Super nice and pretty. Must go to the orchid garden. Cheap and very cool and interesting.
A Beautifully Kept Park
I came here on a public holiday morning. There were quite a few people already at the park from the early hours of the morning. The park is lush with greenery and ample shade from the sun.
This 82 hectare park is large for a city like Singapore. It is a very well maintained park with some attractions such as the Swan Lake and National Orchid Gardens. The place is also peppered with outlets selling food and drinks, ranging from kiosks to full fledged restaurants.
Overall, a fantastic place to go when the weather is cool enough.
Beautiful garden, need to be visited. A walk from the metro is needed 1. 2km to be in the center of the garden.
The botanic garden is a sprawling oasis, perfect for leisurely strolls or picnics with friends. Its vastness allows for exploration among various themed gardens, each more enchanting than the last. The diverse wildlife adds to the charm, with birds, lizards, chickens, squirrels, turtles, and more enhancing the experience. Whether seeking tranquility or adventure, this garden offers an unforgettable escape into nature's embrace.
Had a good time and fresh air .. spending quality at ginger gardens with wonderful orchestra music
A beautiful park in the middle of Singapore. The Jewel in the crown for me was the amazing Orchard Garden, a must see when in Singapore-:)
My favorite place in whole singapore, so peaceful, so serene. I love this place so much
The botanical gardens were amazing and definitely a must-see experience. Give yourself enough time, as it is huge. I only went for a little stroll and to see the Orchid garden - beautiful! Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, there are toilets situated in the park and the gardens. There were two disabled toilets, that I found and every MRT station in Singapore has a toilet. It rained heavily when I went to the gardens, so always best to have a good raincoat. There is one path in the orchid garden, this also means you start and exit at the same place. What goes down, must come up! Not so easy in a wheelchair, if you are travelling alone like myself. It is doable and there are gardeners around to help you if you need. Depending on the day to go, you can buy online - I brought my ticket on the day and it was fine. The photo that has the tall trees, the cafe and the gift shop is where the accessible toilet is, and the staff are very friendly.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a must-visit for nature lovers and anyone looking to escape the city’s bustle. Spanning 82 hectares, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers a serene environment perfect for walking, relaxing, or learning about plant diversity. The highlight is the National Orchid Garden, home to over 1,000 species of orchids. Visitors praise the lush landscapes, tranquil lakes, and wide variety of plants, with many mentioning the rich biodiversity and well-maintained paths. Best of all, entry is free, except for the Orchid Garden. It’s a wonderful spot for both families and solo adventurers alike .
Lovely walking amidst the orchids and plants. Lush green soothes the eye. Beautiful landscapes to sit around and relax
Came here for a walk and found a beautiful garden. There is big. It takes at least an hour to do a walk but if you want to do it proper justice you probably need at least 3 hours. Beautifully maintained and carefully architect. A must go if you are here. To beat the humidity and hot weather here, come early morning like 630am. Less crowd but yet there are people around doing their morning walks, run and exercise.
A good place for chilling, just very hot hahahaha, bring my mum visited the National Orchid Garden, amazed that a lot of different types of Orchid, and very beautiful, price also affordable, adult $15 and $3 for senior citizen, recommend just purchase tickets at counter.
A gem in the heart of Singapore. Enjoyed a stroll through this lovely serene garden. Came across some interesting wildlife unique to these parts.
An essential destination every time my Singapore. It is growing and developing and improving all the time. A great experience. The orchid garden is spectacular. And don’t forget the botanical art museum by the way it’s fully air-conditioned.
Amazing park, most activities are free, orchid garden has a fee.
Very found of this garden. Vaste species of flowers, beautiful fragrances, lively sights.
Beautiful free place to walk around! The only thing that costs money is the orchid garden but walking around the rest of the garden is completely free and so beautiful :)
Quite big but I won’t say there’re a lot of things worth seeing. Jurong lakeside garden is better than it
I took the MRT to come to this place, I made a stop at Botanic Gardens station and entered the gate located near the station. Nice place to visit for stress released and self healing.
Entrance is free but have to pay for Orchids Garden. All the orchids are beautiful, mesmerising and eye soothing. I spent almost 3 hours walking around those gardens but unfortunately missed to visit Healing Garden and Gallops House (can't recall the exact name, sorry🙏).
Before leaving, I had my late lunch at Fusion Spoon (served Halal foods) and took the Tanglin exit with the MRT located just across the street. As an overall, it is very convenient and accessible to come here by MRT or public buses, don't worry about the place to eat, there are a lot, the toilets are clean and be prepared for the unexpected weather.
The best place to be with nature . Lot to explore make sure to wear a good shoes as there’s lot of walking . Orchid garden is a must visit
The garden is huge and well maintained. You can walk explore, and take your own cycle there. It's situated just outside the left of the botanical garden MTR station. It does not require any entry fees. Inside the garden you can explore as much as you can. Make sure you take an umbrella with you. Inside the botanical garden there is an orchid garden which is a must to visit. It has an entry fee. You can go there and get the ticket. If you have time and plan a Singapore trip accordingly and want to see nature you can add this to your bucket list. This will take a single day to explore.
WOW, what an amazing place!
I just couldn't get enough with it. Every foot you walk, you see something amazing. You need days to enjoy the beauty of this world heritage site. I being a plant addict got addicted to this place
Great for walking. People do run there, also.
Singapore Botanic Garden is a beautiful escape from the bustling city, and I absolutely loved my visit. The garden is vast, with so many different sections to explore, from the National Orchid Garden to the serene lakes. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or even a relaxing picnic.
The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the lush greenery. The garden is well-maintained, and you can really see the care that goes into preserving the plants and landscapes. I was especially impressed with the diversity of flora on display, making each corner of the garden feel like a new experience.
Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or just looking for a place to unwind, Singapore Botanic Garden is a must-visit. Highly recommend spending a few hours here to take it all in.
It is truly a beautiful gem of the city. I could spend an entire day here exploring, eating, and engaging with the environment. Wow.
Under rated, very very nice place to visit
Nice walk in the morning and lush greenery on the city.

Moreover, the Gardens' commitment to sustainability and conservation is evident in its eco-friendly practices, such as rainwater harvesting and organic waste management. Educational programs and outreach initiatives further reinforce the importance of environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation.
Best value and more enjoyable than Marina Bay Gardens for me. Grateful for all the work put in by the staff and management to create this wonderful and varied valuable space in Singapore. Go here if no time for the tourist stuff its much better.
Thank you.
Cozy place with lots of greens....we used to have lots of exercising activities going on every day... unfortunately after COVID all the activities group are dispersed as they are no longer allowed to do so....Sad otherwise the garden would be more lively....
The best park in all of sg. UNESCO protected is amazing nice swans and love the atmosphere it is the best place to hang out in sg love it very kid friendly as well because they one special garden just for kids.Amzing have been here about 100 times now
Great park in the Center of the city also the most busy area.
Big grasses path available for picnic.
Some weekend afternoon has free symphony concerts available with free entrance.
Big lizard and money around.
There are many café available and some of them good to make reservations especially during the weekend.
Really great place to bring dog around! My cutie is having fun with the wild animal around here hahaha. Happen to see wild chicken, wild monitor lizard. Many people just like to sit and chill here at weekend!
The garden is beautifully maintained with a vast collection of tropical plants. Guess what I saw on that day, look at my photos.
Highly recommended!
The entrance is free and there's are lots of things to see. Feels less touristy compared to the usual attractions in the city.
Beautiful gardens, free entry.
Need to pay admission fee for main orchid garden, which is lovely ( only SG$3 for over 60s, bring yr pp).
Wonderful place to enjoy nature. We saw the orchid gardens. Worth a visit!🌸🪻🌷🌼🌹🌺
Beautiful botanical garden. The facility was very well maintained. It's pretty big. There are many different plants to see. And liked it a lot. A mosquito spray would be recommended.
The hustle and bustle of the city of Singapore is frenetic. A visit to the botanical garden is truly relaxing. Plus, this place is beautifully laid out. The visit is therefore worth it.
There is only a free area, but it was too wide to go around.
It's a very clean space that is well maintained.
There were a lot of living things here and there, and the children seemed to be having fun.
There is a lot of greenery, but it is still outdoors.
It was hot and humid, so I had fun hydrating myself and cooling off in the museum.
While I was walking around, I didn't feel there were too many people, but the shops were quite crowded.
The garden is directly next to the metro station. Entrance is free and there are several restaurants on site. It is worth walking around and feeling the atmosphere and history of this place. You must enter the orchid zone (paid extra, but worth it)
Very beautiful and large botanical garden. Very extensive. The wildlife is also interesting. Better to visit early or later in the day because of the temperatures.
