Coach Goo Young is a very caring and detailed oriented coach. He makes sure that you understand each movement before execution, and he also checks in regularly to ensure that you are well enough to continue the exercise. It is very reassuring for me, and I highly recommend his training!
I have been training with Goo for the past 4 years. Goo adopts a holistic approach to his training program, catering to individuals’ needs and physical abilities. I find his method very effective and at the same time, fun! Goo is also knowledgeable on human body and was able to accurately pinpoint my problem area when I hurt my shoulder recently. Thereafter, he is able to customise my training to address my injury. I would be happy to recommend Goo to anyone looking for a tailor made training sessions.

Goo exercises a wholistic approach to personal training. He takes into consideration many variables like your state of health, current strength and abilities, present nutritional habits and needs, coupled with what you hope, want and need to achieve, adding previous injuries and other limitations, Goo crafts, molds and adjusts exericses to meet your goals, along with other goals you didn't know you should have. He is also always very meticulous about having proper form and technique, making sure that each exercise is executed correctly to avoid injury and maximize results. He also takes the time to explain the science behind each exercise and how it is beneficial, which is very informative and motivating. It's super shiok when you are able to increase your own physical awareness and get the best out of each rep. On top of all this, Goo also considers other workouts / activities that you may have, making sure that his exercises complement and supplement what you are also working on oustide his gym, to better meet your objectives and ensure that you get an overall good workout. I look forward to every session as I am pushed physically to achieve more than the previous. The gym always feels clean and bright, and the shower facilities are good with supplied towels.
I have lost roughly 4-5kg in 2 months of training with Goo Young. My fitness level is back to being able to jog 2.4km without stopping several times a week. I can also see myself getting stronger with the increasing weights each session.
What you expect out of a professional personal trainer, you will get with Goo Young and more. Besides guiding you through the exercises, correcting your form, and tuning the difficulty so that you get the most out of your workout, he will also check that you are sleeping well, provide nutritional advice and, if you are comfortable with it, help monitor your meals to make choosing to eat healthy mentally easier. As the stats show, his approach produces results.
What you will expect from a normal gym, you will get here as well. The place is smaller than usual gyms but is well equipped and functional. As it is only for personal training sessions, you won't feel cramped out either. The studio is also equipped with a restroom, a shower, and a private room for discussions and reviews.
But this place and Goo Young is so much more precious than just the basics. As someone who is not very inclined towards physical activity, it is easy to hate exercise and get tired of doing it on a regular basis. It is also to renege on a change in diet at the first signs of failing to keep to it. But Goo Young, being the giant teddy bear of positivity that he is, gives no passive-aggressive judgement -- only gentle support. He is not going to judge you for going for a wedding dinner or needing a mental cheat day. More than anything, he understands that life gets in the way, gives you the space to recover from life when needed, and helps pick you back up when you are ready. He is there for you when you fall and celebrates with you when you reach new heights. Between that and the camaraderie, this is the only gym I find myself looking forward to going to each time.
In the two months that I have been training here, Onto Fitness has fast become my sanctuary from the troubles and anxiety of the rest of the world. There is very little to dislike here (except the ski machine which you will learn to hate with a passion) and very often, I feel so supported that my mind switches off and I can just let my body flow through the exercises. In my selfish view, I hope no one sees the review and comes to share in this little piece of Eden. But if you do, then I hope it will become yours as well.
Training experience: 10/10. I had a bad bicycle accident in 2018. I was dissatisfied with the physiotherapy care that the hospital prescribed as it was palliative and did not address the root cause. 3 months after the accident I sought help from Goo Young and Chee to address my strength and mobility issues. With their expert care and guidance, I have regained my ability to run and do all the things I used to enjoy before the accident. I continue to be their client because I have not found trainers as well informed.
Training methods: 10/10. Thoughtful, deliberate and tailored to your need. They will not rush the process and force their views on you and instead explain the science and mechanisms for adaptation to take place. They know their anatomy and can internalize and articulate what the client is saying without complicating issues.
Highly recommended.
We have been with Goo and Chee for many years and this is a testament of the great work done with them. We have gotten stronger over the years and going for sessions is more than just going to gym. They have become friends too and gives us great advice on our fitness. Thank you!!
