Reviews of KAI Singapore
Few key reasons why we choose and love our stay with KAI.
1) Nursery staff (they call it care team) with three shifts of nurse vs most others are typically on a 2 shift model and heavily skew to nannies.
2) They will come to your room and do one on one teaching, follow through until you are confident vs just throwing the baby to you and somehow expect everything to come naturally for first time parents. In our case, given they stay with us for whole latching process, they manage to detect our boy had a tongue tied condition, that resulted in him sucking aggressively and causing my wife to bleed. This was not picked by the PD and hospital LC. At least with that information, we could get the condition fix asap, and they also recommend my wife express her milk first instead of latching to allow recovery.
3) They have their own full kitchen, and the confinement meals not only taste great but it follows a 28 days schedule so it's not really repetitive, ie every mum's meal is different based on the day they enter the center and the phase of recovery. For example, the first week meal is lighter and focus on helping to clear the body before the "大补" later on. They also partner with TCM that comes and check on mums every 2 weeks and make minor adjustment to the herbs used in the menu. Vs some centers that was astonishingly bad, where they use external caterers so every mum is given the same repetitive oily food irregardless where they are in the 28 day cycle.
4) All the nice touches, picking us up from the hospital, sending to and fro for the follow up PD and mummy's checkup (they will also provide the car seat, stroller, things you need like diapers, wet wipes and milk for these trips so don't have to bring anything on your own). We also like that everything is under one roof, such as the lactation massage, slimming wraps, hair washing and the GRO (Guest relationship officer) can help you manage your schedule without the need for you to call different services individually. There's also some activities for mummies, but the one we like most is the baby photoshoot by far.
5) Staff here are very warmed and accommodating. I was warned by friends that post natal depression is a real thing, and most mum will think if they cannot breastfeed, they are a failure. For the start, my wife's milk production was low and baby appetite was ferocious and cries when he doesn't get enough, so I can tell she was stress but everyone here keeps encouraging her, give practical advice and good alternatives which help her overcome her worries. Also a key benefits of the confinement center is that only parents are allowed in the rooms, visitors are only allowed in the lobby. I realize most grandparents typically like to comment on every tiny detail, like how the newborn sleep, how they are fed etc and in most cases can bring about stress so restricting their full access to baby and mummy is helpful. In fact, I also heard horror stories of grandparents who are sick but are so excited to meet the newborn that they bring some illness to baby or the mummy...
Choosing KAI gives me a peace of mind, that my wife and newborn is well taken care of while I go back to work.. Sadly too early for the 10 additional week of shared paternity leave.
As first-time parents, we strongly recommend KAI to everyone and anyone who wants to be properly taken care in a more modern way but not missing out in the traditions.
Confinement has been a scary topic discussed with many mummies due to the traditions set by the older generation. We personally wanted to have a more "scientific" way of handling the confinement without compromising the traditional way. KAI has proven during my stay for 28 days to have fulfil what I wanted. The various team in KAI worked together to provide us the flexibility to choose what suits us and the baby best.
The journey from the hospital to KAI was full of anxiety as we were not sure what to expect of as first-time parents.
The first two person we met was Richard (the guy who always send us to our child's appointment on time) and the boss Mr Kevin Kwee who gave us assurance that we are now in good hands. Upon reaching KAI, we were greeted by Guest Relation Officer (GRO) who brought us to our room and the Nursery Nurse who took our baby to the nursery to settle down.
Upon checking in and having our lunch, GRO Melinda let us settle down before meeting me to discuss if I have any food restrictions or dislikes so to better accommodate to my taste. During our stay, the team of Guest Relation Officers (Melinda, Thini and Seeling) were always available to coordinate the medical transportation to and from polyclinic and hospital due to our child's jaundice condition. They worked endlessly to meet our request such as making sure we have hot meals (6 meals a day), clean pajamas, refill lactation cookies and beverages for us. In addition, they were always on the lookout for our mental well-being, striking small conversation to ensure that we are fine.
The team of Nurses (Yieng Yieng, Jeri, Judy, Lee Ken, Chris, Sally, Chee Kuan, Randy, Sue Chie, Lilly, Irene, Nur, Sau Wan, Siow Feng) provided many professional advice on how to care for our newborn and most importantly the breast-feeding part. The help and support provided for my breast-feeding journey was tremendous useful. I was very lost in the hospital as no one attended to me to help with the lactation. But at KAI, the nurses will come into the room 3 hourly to support with the breast-feeding and gave me encouragement to keep me going. Even when I chose to bottle feed my child, they taught us how to properly feed my child and to burp my child. They are never selfish in sharing how to better care for my child and have a schedule planned for us (when to start rooming in with our child, when to learn how to bath our child) before we go home.
Not forgetting the team of Chefs who cooked yummy and comes up with different menu throughout my 28 days of stay. The meals are very nutritious, and calories has been properly calculated to ensure that we have sufficient nutrients for breastfeeding.
In addition, there are also classes such as workshop and exercise classes every week for mummies to meet each other and be able to empathies with each other. KAI also provides professional services such as TCM consultation, lactation consultation and lactation massages.
I am truly grateful for being able to stay at KAI and would recommend mummies-to-be to consider coming to KAI for their confinement as words cannot express how good KAI is.
A confinement center was never part of our birth plan until our neighbors decided to do floor hacking works a day before we delivered. Due to this last-minute change, we had limited options. Rooms were either fully booked, not prorated, or required a minimum occupancy period. Kai was the only center that didn't have these restrictions, so we went for the Deluxe Suite at Kai. There are 3 main challenges that I experienced as a first-time mom, and I'll classify why I'm grateful for my first week postpartum at Kai:-
• Baby care. The hardest to endure without support and trust. Dealing with baby cries, feeding, bathing, sleeping, checkups, paperwork, going out, and even holding a newborn was a learning curve! With a team of professionals guiding us through often overlooked skills such as burping a baby, we received multiple "second opinions" within the center, allowing us to ease into the process at our own pace. Even after leaving the center, we had ongoing support via WhatsApp, where I also asked about my baby's poo and facial acne condition. Finally, as one of the most premium confinement centres in Singapore, I've also noticed that they spared no expenses on the quality of every item used. This assurance led me to consider everything else as top of its class, and as recommendations to switch/ purchase to what was used at Kai.
• Recuperation. C section recovery was the toughest during the first week. Bedroom facilities were thoughtfully designed to aid getting in and out of bed, and thanks to the nursery staffed with professional, qualified nurses, the nursery's support goes beyond baby care. The nurses have helped me with wound care and dressing; diagnosed issues with my abdominal binder; and provided tips for managing my sensitive skin. I continued these practices post-Kai until I felt fully healed. Kai also offered unique amenities like hair wash salons (for those hesitant to shower) and c-section-friendly spas and massages, making it feel like an extended stay at a luxury hospital-resort (we were even transported door to door from hospital to home). One of my favorite experiences at Kai was the food— I always looked forward to all five meals a day, which were consistently above average, even for Malaysian food standards.
• Breastfeeding. My major focus and attention because I was too idealistic on this one. Every nurse visit felt like a mini-lesson, covering issues like healing (I have a baby shark), engorgement therapy, pumping techniques, hand expressions, and the use of supplementary items like silver cups, nipple shields, and pumping (not nursing!) bras. If infant care was a course, this felt like a separate course of its own.
Overall, I feel fortunate for the "accidental" Kai experience, many thanks to my supportive husband. Kai was more than just a place to stay, and I attribute Kai a lot in helping me manage my postpartum anxiety. What I felt then and now is a far cry from postpartum baby blues— because I've never been happier in my life.
Quality care for mum and baby!
Excellent food and service with complementary TCM doctor and Lactation consultant fortnightly, who liaise with the kitchen to provide personal meals for residents.
Recovery yoga/exercise twice a week suitable for mums who have enough energy to just go downstairs to do it. Greatly aids with any body weakness, imbalance or overstraining.
Complementary craft sessions on Thursday for lovely souvenirs to bring home for baby.
All-around-the-clock care by experienced nurses with pleasant personalities. Nurses also conduct training for parents to learn how to bathe and feed the baby.
Spouse is allowed to stay over but older children aren't,so highly recommended for first time mums!
Recovery time is greatly sped up with the good care given.
Thanks KAI for your excellent work!
As first time parents, Kai has provided all the help we need to care for our newborn. The whole team is just so caring and professional at taking care of not only our baby but me as the Mum. The confinement food here is both super healthy and delicious. All the small gestures have surprised us and warmed us at our hearts throughout our stay here. We definitely recommend anyone who’s looking for a top confinement center in Singapore to try it out here. And we will be coming back again for confinement with my future babies.
Highly recommend for confinement. I had a super pleasant stay in KAI which both mum and baby have been well taken care of. The owner, Kevin, truly cares about both the mum and baby's experience. He and his team are thoughtful and have paid so much attention to the details re the ambience and design of the room, e.g the shower head they provide is very helpful for mums with wound, there is a highly functional fridge with freezer in the room for breast milk storage, motorized curtain inside the room for privacy, very good sound proof, etc.
Top Notch Service - BEST i have encountered in SG (better than the hotels I have been to in SG). The GRO staff (Melinda, Thini and Seeling) are professional, they are responsive and caring. The transport service during the stay is truly helpful - especially for bringing baby for chk up.
Experienced nurses - during my stay, the nurse to baby ratio is around 1:3 / 1:2.5. While this is not 1-1 nursery service, the nurses here tried their best to adhere to the babies' needs. Each of the nurses, Judy, Yieng, Jeri, Chris, Lily, Irene, Leeken, Chee kuan and Sau wan, has shared useful tips to take care of the baby, we are truly thankful to have learnt a lot from them.
Yummy Food - the confinement food and lactation biscuits are yummy and is as good as what you see on photos. With 6 meals a day the portion could be huge, but can always share with the dad if you cannot finish. Their soups are impressive, especially the fish maw chicken soup. Pork trotter in vinegar is authentic. I had buckwheat pancake once for breakfast break with homemade syrup - it is better than the cafes in SG!
Thank you KAI for the wonderful experience! It is worth the price.
Selecting Kai to be our choice of confinement center is one of the best choices we have ever made in Singapore. My wife and I have visited multiple condiment centers in both Taiwan and Singapore as this is a critical investment.
We were originally a bit worried about doing our confinement in Singapore as the industry is still maturing while Taiwan’s had been well established for years. Yet, I think Kai’s offering does not only match but also potentially exceeded what we could have gotten in Taiwan.
The team was very caring and professional with our son and we had a wonderful 28 days here.
We will be more than happy to recommend Kai to our friends if they ought to seek for confinement centers in Singapore :)
Thank you Kai Team!
I stayed in Kai Suites after delivering my 2nd child. Throughout my stay, they have been providing top-notch, impeccable service for not just myself, my then-newborn and my family.
I always relate KAI Suites as a 5* hotel with nursery services that you can't find anywhere else in Singapore. They took care of my needs wholeheartedly, provided me with assistance 24/7 and offered services that pampered me like a queen. My newborn, without saying, was very well taken care of.
Take a look at all the other positive reviews shared by other mummies, and you will know how dedicated Kevin and his team are.
Thank you KAI Suites!
It took me awhile to write my review with my Kai experience. Choose a confinement centre is the best choice I made as a new parent!
This week I went back to Kai for a complimentary massage, when drove in the gate, all my memories came back, aka on the first day I checked in, I was super emotional and nervous, as I have no idea how to deal with my newborn baby until my welcome at Kai.
I learnt a lot during my 28 days stay and the nurses taught me almost everything I need to know when I am going back.
My milk supply was so good and the food quality is top notch! I miss Kai 😂 wish I can send my baby back to Kai for few days lol
Highly recommended!
Having recently experienced childbirth, I can confidently recommend Kai Suites Confinement Center for new mothers seeking excellent care and support. The facilities were impeccable, with spacious and well-equipped rooms for both moms and babies. The staff went above and beyond, providing personalized care with warmth and professionalism. From GRO (Melinda, Thini and See Ling) to attentive nurses (Yieng Yieng, Lily, Chris, Randy, Jeri, Judy, Xiao Fang, Irene and Nur) to housekeeper (Xiao Qing) everyone ensured I felt supported every step of the way. The center's services, including postnatal care, baby care, and nutritious meals, exceeded my expectations. Safety measures were top-notch, offering peace of mind during my stay. The serene atmosphere added to the overall sense of relaxation and healing. While the cost may be on the higher side, the value for money is undeniable considering the exceptional care received. Overall, my experience at Kai Suites Confinement Center was outstanding, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any new mother.
My 28 day confinement stay at Kai was an amazing experience. Kai created a safe space for me and my baby to gently ease into our new roles, at our own pace. The first week after giving birth was a roller coaster of overwhelming emotions and physical pain but I am grateful to the Kai care team for tending to my needs and going above and beyond to take good care of me and my baby. After birth, most would tend to pay more attention to the baby's wellbeing, but at Kai, they also made sure that my wellbeing was of utmost importance, and that I should prioritise my rest at all times. No request was too small or too big for them. Everyone was humbly available to extend help - from Kevin the founder, Lillian in marketing, Yieng Yieng the nurse to Xiao Qing the cleaning auntie.
Initially, I didn't really understand their strict policy regarding no outside guests allowed in our rooms. But after checking in, I appreciated the great lengths Kai took to safeguard our peace. I could rest and recover quickly, learn how to breastfeed my baby properly and fully enjoy every moment of being with her with no distractions or disturbances.
The food served at Kai was delicious. They not only helped my body recover but also nourished it so that my baby gets the best breastmilk it can produce. I looked forward to drinking the soups served at every meal and appreciated it when they adjusted my meals according to the TCM doctor's advice.
I spent the most time at Kai with the nurses who looked after me and my baby. I was reassured knowing my baby was in their loving gentle hands at the nursery whilst I rested. The nurses at every shift knew my baby's needs well and could tend to her seamlessly. They were intentional in every interaction with her. They spent time getting to know her personally and I enjoyed it when they shared fun little anecdotes with me. The nurses were also readily available to help me during my breastfeeding journey. They were very encouraging and helpful, providing me with lactation tips and feeding knowhow - tips I still practice at home with her.
It's been a week since we came home and my baby and I greatly miss the nurses and the care team at Kai. Thank you all very much for supporting me through my first delivery and setting the caretaking standard high for my baby!
Amazing “fourth trimester” experience at Kai Suites
Kai Suites gave me a confinement experience that was “home away from home”. Being a first-time mum, i appreciated the advice and support given by the team at Kai on my recovery as well as how to take care of a newborn. Parenthood is a challenging journey, and staying at Kai during the steepest part of the learning curve was definitely one of the best decisions i’ve made!
Starting with the facilities, the team paid attention to small details, such as setting up a bedside handrail to help me get up more easily following my C-section, as well as having multiple comfy corners in the room for breastfeeding, just to name a few. Such small details in the confinement hotel definitely made for a comfortable stay that aided in my postpartum recovery.
Next, the confinement cuisine at Kai was well-balanced and calorie-counted. Even though i ate 6 meals a day (they served morning tea, afternoon tea and supper in addition to the usual 3 meals), never once did i get sick of the food. The philosophy behind the design of the confinement menu centred on healing, detoxification, restoration and nourishment, making the cuisine optimal for recovery and building milk supply at the same time. Kudos to the culinary team for re-inventing confinement food into a gourmet experience!
Lastly, the amazing people at Kai rounded up the wonderful experience.
- The nurses in the care team had a wealth of experience from their time in maternity wards and as nannies, and they were more than willing to share them with new parents. They were patient and encouraging, and i felt well-supported and more confident in handling my newborn. I also could trust them in making sure that my little one was well taken care of in the nursery while i took some me-time to rest and recover.
- The friendly guest relation officers were prompt in looking into any requests and went out of the way to make sure i felt at home.
- The therapists at the wellness spa made sure that i received adequate lactation massages to ease any engorgements, and good shoulder and back massages to sooth the sore post-pregnancy muscles.
- Shout-out also to the driver who made sure we got ferried safely to and fro the hospital for our follow-up appointments, as well as the housekeeping team for keeping the room clean and comfortable.
Kudos to Kevin for building such an amazing team, they have really made a mile of a difference!
Looking back at the lovely memories i had at Kai Suites, i’ll definitely recommend it to anyone who would like an experience over and beyond the typical confinement arrangement :)
Had my wonderful and luxurious confinement stay with Kai on September-October 2023.
Kai’s professional health care team has really taken care of my baby and I throughout the confinement stay.
The meals provided were nutritious and they were in generous portions.
I loved my stay there as I was well rested and was given time to ease into motherhood.
Shoutout to everyone on the Kai. I truly treasured the encouragement and the professional care from all the staff at Kai.
Best regards,
Xiuly
Best decision EVER!! We honestly couldn’t think of a better way to start our parenthood than KAI. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. The team is super friendly, cheerful, helpful and professional. They are super supportive throughout and knowledgeable when you are feeling lost. All meal are delicious and with good varieties. KAI really allows us easing into the next chapter of our life. I would say it is definitely money well spent!
One of the best hospitality experiences we have had in a very long time. Kevin and his team supported us way before we even checked-in to Kai Suites with advice, guidance and even some impromptu herbal soup delivered to the hospital for my wife after the delivery! When we arrived the first thing we noticed was how peaceful and tranquil it was after the intense few days at the hospital. The team then really helped us relax, unwind and focus on the first weeks of bonding with our baby. Teresa and the nursing team provided us with some amazing advice and guidance, supported us in the evening when we needed to catch up on some well-needed rest, and taught us all the tips and tricks to feel confident starting our new life as a family back home. The food was also excellent, catered to our tastes and requirements, and Becky and the catering team were always looking at ways to ensure that they met our needs. I would highly recommend Kai Suites to any couple that is looking for that first couple of weeks support before heading home with their newborn, especially if it is your first little one since you end up learning so much in a very supportive environment. We will definitely be back here for #2!
Sharing from the perspective of a husband whose wife stayed at Kai for a month. Our experience was absolutely wonderful and we would highly recommend Kai during the mom's postpartum period. Kai provided a peace of mind knowing that our newborn was well taken care of 24/7 and that my wife was getting the help and care that she needed to recover.
The entire staff - from the professional care team who are on top of things, nurses who handled our newborn with love and care, and management who went out of their way to support us, to the cleaners who kept our room pristine and kitchen staff who served delicious meals every day - moves well in sync and helps you feel at home. It's been several weeks now that we have left Kai and I still find myself thinking back to our time there. Our experience was special and we hope that other parents can experience the same!
Stayed at Kai after my wife’s cesarean birth to our beautiful twin babies. Truly the best decision ever!
The care provided to my wife and newborn twins was impeccable, every detail was taken care of by their excellent care team, which made the stay extremely comfortable and my wife's recovery much smoother. Food was also cooked in-house by their chefs in their commercial kitchen ensuring that my wife’s postpartum meals were carefully curated.
Thank you Kai team! Special shoutout to Yieng Yieng, Judy and Cecilia for the care and attention to detail given to our babies!
We still fantasise about our time at Kai Suites! Our son is 3 months old now and we wish we could relive the care and attention of the team. The management and staff do go the extra mile to ensure the best experience possible. Food is simply amazing, I still think about their delicious oat cookies. Dietary preferences was expertly catered to and feedback was taken graciously. My husband and I are newbie parents so this was a great way to recover and learn from the friendly nurses.
My stay at Kai was nothing short of terrific.
2 of the most important factors for mothers are rest and recovery - both of which Kai did exceptionally well.
Kai has an intimate team of nurses who are experienced, prompt and could almost always anticipate our needs. They took really good care of my twins in the nursery so I could rest, were generous with dispensing guidance but still always supportive of whatever decision you make. Would like to convey special thanks to Judy and Yieng Yieng, who were so kind with our twins, and Cecilia and Lily, our familiar faces during night shift who always made sure we were comfortable and had enough rest.
The food was excellent - the menu was curated with care and everything down to the garnish were made in-house with quality ingredients to enhance recovery.
Communication between the teams at Kai was superb. Everyone knew exactly the care required for my twins, our schedule (our gynae, paediatric, lactation consult visits) and preferences (guest relations made notes about my dietary preference). The nurses take initiative to feed my twins and pack their diaper bags before our visits and the lovely guest relations host ensures our ride was on time.
Lastly, it’s rare to find a founder who is so hands-on with the day-to-day operation. Kevin is truly passionate about this venture and it so reflects in the quality of service.
The price point is indeed on the higher end, but it is worth every penny. Thank you again to Kevin and his wonderful team, please keep up the great work!
We decided to stay with Kai Suites when deciding on post-partum care for my wife. We have been staying here for the past 3 weeks and the experience so far has been great. Our twin girls have been gaining weight steadily under the care of Kai’s nursing team, and my wife has recovered well with the nourishing meals served daily. Thank you to the whole Kai Team for making us feel at home.
Sharing my experience as a new mom staying at Kai suites for my confinement... We have been here for 5 days and it's been absolutely amazing. The team here is so professional and the head of care Teresa has been absolutely fantastic. She is so knowledgeable on all things baby and mom's post partum care. She and her team regularly check on us and are always sharing tips and information on any questions or concerns we might have. We feel like we have learnt so much in the last 5 days and feel very empowered as new parents. What's also really appreciated as a new mom is that I feel really cared for and they have really prioritized my recovery, something we tend to neglect as new moms. Additionally, the owner Kevin is so understanding and caring and have done so much to make sure our stay is comfortable! We are very grateful for everything Kai suites and the team have done for us and cannot thank everyone enough! We will definitely be back if we decide to have number 2,but maybe too soon to decide on that one just yet 😜! Best, Junqiu
Checked out a month ago and we are still constantly reminded of the amazing experience. The professional and caring team, meticulous attention to detail, and the convenience of a bell system for assistance made it exceptional.
KAI's attention to detail is impeccable. From clean rooms to nutritious meals, they left no stone unturned in ensuring mummy’s comfort. The bell system was a lifesaver, especially with a crying baby. It offered quick assistance and peace of mind.
Their centralised confinement environment offers underappreciated advantages for babies - they are less picky about their surroundings, which makes the transition to the outside world much smoother.
It’s been pleasant and unforgettable journey. HUGE THANK YOU to everyone! Special thanks to Lillian, Yieng Yieng, lily, siu wan, jeri, Melinda. Highly recommended!
We attended the first ever one-day retreat hosted by KAI— it included much detail and in-depth knowledge for natural birth delivery, newborn infant care and general new parents to-knows.
Learning all these things at-once from a panel of internationally field-certified speakers (doula, lactation specialist, paediatrician, physiotherapists) beats search engine results with contradicting polarizing perspective or confinement nannies that heavily style their work based on traditional customs. It was also a rewarding experience to bond and meet other parents-to-be on the same journey (new parents need not to be lonely!).
Finally— the KAI staff was consistently friendly, showed resourcefulness introducing some helpful networks when we needed some differing medical opinions regarding our needs/situation.
Stayed at Kai for 28 days so that my wife can get rest and recovery she deserves, and my child the care and attention he needs. SOPs performed consistently by a professional team, with round the clock infant care, is what appealed to us and gave us peace of mind. Indeed, it takes the village to raise a child. Special shout outs to Judy, Ying Ying, Irene, and Lily for their utmost care when looking after the little one and the comfort and reassurance they gave to us as first time parents.
Thank you Kai for the care and attention to my family. There were much personal touch and details done for us. Any prospective parents should put Kai as their first choice .
Amazing service and post partum massage. All the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. THE place to go for postpartum care in Singapore.
Great service and nursing care. Would highly recommend to all.
