Reviews of Amoy Hotel
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Amoy hotel even though it was only for a single night on our first day in Singapore. We were welcome by a very friendly receptionist who gave us some useful general info and a lovely welcome card (thank you so much for this!). The room was clean, modern, and had everything we needed. Keep in mind the rooms might be small but still include everything we needed, so this wasn't a problem.
Everything worked well, and the location is very central.
Highly recommended if you're looking for a central & not overly expensive place in downtown Singapore!
The best place to stay in Singapore. It´s centrally located next to the best part of the city.
It´s right next to the subway line and next to tons of different restaurants, hawker centers, etc.
I´d definitely stay there again when I travel back to Singapore
This was a really cool hotel within a heritage building. Walking through a small museum was an experience.
The single room, though small, had all the amenities that I needed. We were welcome with a cold cup of tea and snacks (snacks were available at reception at all times too).
The service staff were fantastic, the team was one of the best that I've ever encountered. Tina was very thorough at check in, and even assisted us to the room. Requests for addition items were responded to very quickly and all the reception staff were very friendly and patiently assisted with my many questions.
The location was awesome, with transport, food and activities all available within a stone's throw.
Great location just right next to the smrt, even greater the hospitality provided by the hotel. Definitely worthy to stay.
Been assigned to a room with stairs inside, might not be good if drunk, but maybe it’s because of my early check-in. Front desk and check-in experience was great, room was cozy too and clean, though air condition slightly noisy, but nice to have quite a lot complementary drinks and snacks.
Suggestion: would be better to have more than one towel in the room, even for single room.
Will sure consider to stay again if coming back.
I quite like the vibe of the hotel and the design with modern luxury touch of Chinese culture .I was able to check in at 1:30pm and late check out is chargeable. The room I booked was cosy single 16sqm is kinda small but decent and feels a sense of warmth. The mini bar items were complimentary and the chips are tasty. There are not bottle water so water is directly from the tap and is safe to consume. The bed was comfortable and air con was good but have slight sound which is still okay.I find the room should have one more ceiling light near the bed area as I find it a bit dim.The service was good when I have some request and they acceded to it. As for the cons , there is not bath robe provided for cosy single room , no swimming pool or gym to use and no other facilities to explore so basically you just stay in your room and you roam the nearby vicinity locations.Breakfast can choose either at Genius Bar which offers vegan options or Henri western optionsI have chosen to dine at Henri and the food was good but would be better if the options have some Singapore delicacies like nasi lemak .It would be good if the hotel organised some Chinese culture workshop like calligraphy , understand rich Chinese history would be value added.Overall I enjoyed my stay but some areas can be improved still .
What a find.
Lovely well presented boutique hotel, right on the edge of Chinatown.
Just a 10 min walk to the Riverside.
There is a MRT station right outside the entrance do getting anywhere in Singapore is very easy.
It's built around an old riverfront temple, which is still there and open to anyone who wants to walk around.
The river has long ago been moved to allow for expansion of the city.
Lovely rooms, just packing in a bit of storage space, and the many bars and restaurants locally do make some noise at night.
Overall highly recommended.
Small but cozy rooms, great service and perfect location in the middle of the city!
Great quirky hotel in the middle of everything. Amazing location, with a train station 1 minute away. Also walkable distance from the gardens and MBS. Coffee capsules and minibar were complementary, and the breakfast had two options at the cafes next door. Henri Cafe was amazing.
Love love love this place! If you love boutique hotels this is the one for you! Service was excellent, check in was smooth and the staff even brought us up personally to our room. We were lucky to get a corner room and it was really spacious and clean! House keeping was done by 10am which was good, the mini bar (can drinks, 2 packets of lays chips, TWG tea) was complimentary! Overall, enjoyed my stay here tremeously and it was a unique experience staying at a shophouse in the heart of CBD.
Room was cosy and comfortable - appreciated the unique location within Far East Square, with a good view of the shops below. Complimentary minibar was a nice touch! Breakfast (at Genius Central) was vegetarian, and was good on both days. Service from the front desk by Kimberly and Ninn was warm and friendly throughout the stay, with both staff being accommodating to our requests and preferences. Had an enjoyable stay overall, and would definitely recommend - especially for those who love boutique hotels!
The hotel was very well equipped in terms of facilities in the room. Our room came with complimentary bar service, and the washroom was equipped with a bidet and also filtered tap for potable water. Complimentary parking was also provided for the carpark at Far East Square (only one exit coupon per day per room was given but no issues here as the hotel is located very near the station with plenty food options available). Gym and sky pool is really nice with the Level 30 view of the CBD and Singapore skyline. Will definitely return if given the chance to do so.
Hotel is more for business travellers. Eateries around mostly cater to working crowd (nothing was open when we checked in on Sunday evening). Location is great as it’s a stones throw away from Telok Ayer. If you grabbed over, drop off point is at clan hotel. We loved the yummy vegetarian food at genius central. Very wholesome and filling. Will come to genius central again just for the food and to work (they have a work + dine package). Unfortunately, we booked the hotel because we thought we could visit the fuk Tak chi museum, but it was closed due to covid. We only found AFTER the staycay when we read other website’s reviews saying that hotel guests can request to go in if they ask. A bit disappointed about that. Besides that, overall we enjoyed it because it was a quiet cosy corner away from our usual lives. Oh yah there was also a complimentary minibar with 4 cans of drinks, 2 small packs of chips, and 3 packets of twg tea. Enjoyed that too.
A boutique hotel in a heritage shop house building. Rooms are small as expected and well appointed. Stayed in the largest room available and found it comfortable.
Free drinks and snacks in bar fridge and coffee and tea as well.
Staff were amazing.
Only downside is that nights can get noisy with drunk people downstairs where all the bars are.
Overall excellent stay.
Service was great. Food provided by the restaurant appointed by the hotel was fantastic as well. Small issue encountered during the stay was the television did not work almost throughout the 2 nights stay. Something to do with their antennae it onlyBecame slightly better on the last night but most of the channels were down as well. It was luckyThat we brought our own entertainment devices.
REVISED:
Sep 22: came back to Amoy Hotel after 3 months for business trip again and I had an amazing stay. Clemence, Emily and Thomas are extremely helpful and they really care.
They also added a second place for breakfast which opens earlier but breakfast at Genius Central is a must
June 22: Staff is helpful and hotel is in a traditional building, which means that can present some flaws but it is also an experience. When I arrived there was a problem with the sink that was promptly solved. The breakfast is available from 8am which can be a problem if you have an early meeting but the hotel said they will change this soon.
Is my first visit to this hotel and now is my no 1 go to hotel for a short staycation love the structure of the room feel cozy and homely just that the aircon is a little noisy but all is good , thanks to the front desk staff for giving us a late check out really appreciate it , last but not least the breakfast is excellent all the hotel breakfast is always the same but this definitely exceeded my expectations! Once again thank you to the hotel team for this 2 night of my stay 😄👏🏻
One of best hotel experiences ever! I travel a lot and stay in hotels a lot but AMOY service was perfect. Hotel has no restaurant but you can eat in restaurants just outside (breakfast if included, lunch/dinner with discout) which is good because of extra choice. Rooms are good and as the whole hote very nice ambiance. Situated in centre of Chinatown which makes it very easy to get to and also with enough food and drinks around.
AMOY has a very different vibe from other hotels. Room is really cosy, and thoughtfully furnished- elements of modern design with a touch of heritage. The value is really in the details! Price can quite steep for a boutique hotel without any facilities, but happy to get it during one for one deal. The accompanying breakfast was great too!
Overall a good stayas conveniently located near Telok mrt and dine out places. Just felt the room lighting was abit too dim so not too suitable to work as hurtful to eyes. Good customer service and staff were attentive. Hotel provides complimentary drinks and tibits.Note for drivers- hotel mention they only provide 1 complimentary carpark regardless the number of nights staying. Also no facilities (gym, pool) available so something to be aware of.
Friendly staff, sweet clean rooms. Very good location to explore Singapur. Nice breakfast (you can choose out of 2 restaurants)
Finding this hotel can be a challenge, but once you've found it, you'll be amazed by its temple museum design. Staffs at the front desk were extremely friendly, professional and understanding. A welcome drink was presented white waiting for check-in to be completed. Soon after, the staff will assist you with your baggage personally and escort you to your room with the room features explained. More hotels should follow their footsteps with this kind of high standards. In the room, the mini bar and coffee were all complimentary. However, due to its size, the hotel doesn't have gym or swimming pool facilities.
Thank you Amoy team & Ms Cherise from Trip.com for the necessary arrangement to make this uninterrupted stay possible. Warm welcome reception from Mr Muhd who personally brought us to our room. Compact & clean room with complimentary mini bar. Super nice breakfast. Wonderful stay!
I recently had a short business trip and had a one night stay here. The room was a Cosy Single. It was small but very comfortable for a one nighter. The hotel has done an absolutely amazing job in presenting the heritage element in the hustle and bustle of the busy area filled with eateries and pubs.
Kudos to the staffs especially Mr Nizam for providing world class hospitality and practical recommendation during my short stay.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I am sure you will get a pleasantly different experience of a hotel stay.
I arrived by tube, close to midnight and it was kind of hard to find the entrance then but I had some help from people on the street.
I was met by very helpful staff in the lobby and that lasted throughout my visit there. I had broken my shoe and asked for some superglue - it was waiting in my room in 20 minuyes while I had my breakfast.
Room was small but enough for my needs and whats more important, soft drinks from mini bar were free, I also got a complimentary ride to airport with a very good and nee minivan.
All in all, a very pleasant stay and would recommend this place.
A wonderful boutique hotel. Personal and friendly service; clean and well-thought out rooms (compact, but perfect for a short solo stay) and a great location (a few mins walk to multiple MRT stations, the water, Chinatown, hawker centres and within a heritage listed building with a museum for a lobby!!)
Booked a stayca with the wife to celebrate my birthday. Staff were attentive and check-in was hassle free. The hotel is situated in a very good location to be a local tourist. We went Chinatown, visited hawker centers for good food. However, it is the service by the staff that won me over. Had a noise incident at around midnight (renovation noise with drilling and noise) lasted for almost an hour. Was properly asleep and was woken up. Called front desk, and they apologise and rushed to sort it out. Turns out, it was happening in an adjacent building, which was out of their control and they weren't informed about it. Next morning, a staff came to our room personally, to explain and offered a discount of our booking. I was surprised and thought the service recovery was excellent. They also gave us a cake and card for my birthday. Best experience so far! Thank you, Benjamin, Kimberly, Derek, Bryan and Erica. You guys are awesome.
One of best hotel experiences ever! I travel a lot and stay in hotels a lot but AMOY service was perfect. Hotel has no restaurant but you can eat in restaurants just outside (breakfast if included, lunch/dinner with discout) which is good because of extra choice.
Came here for a staycation. Convenient located near the Telok Ayer station. It is a conservation building from an old temple and within Far East Square. The room is well layout except not fit those with movement issue as there are internal small steps withing the room. Generally well stocked up as they provide snacks, beverages and a coffee machine. There are quite a number of reading places and pubs within walking distance and outside the hotel. Breakfast was included and it was very good. There's a little museum within the hotel.
One of my favorite hotels. It was cheap, amazing room layouts, free smart phone to use while in the country, and the staff gives you a post card to fill out and they will mail it for you for free to anywhere in the world. I highly recoomend this place if you are visiting Singapore. You wont regret it.
You can stay at a fairly reasonable price in the middle of the business district. If you are traveling on business and just need a clean room to sleep where its close to your office, this might be the hotel you are looking for.
The staffs are all very nice and friendly with great hospitality.
Just one thing you need to be careful is that this place is not that famous so a lot of the taxi drivers do not know this hotel. So be sure to remember the address since its easy to memorize or write it down.
Right at the centre of China Town. Easy access to various F&B outlets day and night. Staff was very helpful and even help me print out some urgent document after midnight.
The staff were friendly. Location was great. Nearby to a lot of restaurants. Breakfast was great. We have the choice of ordering the night before and have it delivered to our room or dine in on the morning itself
Interesting hotel, I’d def recommend coming once since it’s such a unique experience. However I don’t think I would return, for the price I’d want more amenities like pool or gym
Wonderful boutique hotel. Was built on to an historical Temple. Great services and attitude. Great location for walking to several of the most interesting places. Subway and taxi stand right across the street. Many great restaurants close by.
Great location. Wonderful service. The staff was amazing, particularly the manager; Mr. Johar and my personal favorite; Alif. The amenities include free snacks and a free handy phone that you can carry around that you can Google anything and can even call home for free.
A little noisy at night. Excellent rooms. Walkable to most places you want to go.
Nice boutique hotel with access to a guest-only mini museum on Amoy Street history. Learnt that the area behind hotel are all reclaimed land.
Very friendly staff, well furnished and equipped with everything one could need. We felt very welcome and well looked after. Definitely a place to go back to.”
Great service and staycation at this hotel. Highly recommended. Service was over the top and very good breakfast. I would highly recommend this place and would stay again in future.
I stayed single room for a month, room is clean and comfortable, hv additional movie channels like HBO, etc, Hospitality is very good🌻☺ mrt is about 3 mins walk away, nearby many eateries, good environment
Decent hotel for the price. The deluxe room was smaller than it looked in pictures and the hotel has no facilities.
Hospitable and genuine staff. Unique decor with a modern twist on ‘shophouse’ staycation. Hotel breakfast at Genius Central was fantabulous!
Very cute and great customer services. China town night market is 10 minute away so it is perfect for food, hang out or entertainment.
Well located hotel that makes an overnight stopover at Singapore very easy. Good location for sight seeing.
Outstanding service and brilliant location close to MTR, taxis, hundreds of restaurants and the always interesting Chinatown. Also only 2 MTR stops from Marina Bay.
It is nice and good place to stay here food is very aweasome.
great hotel in the cbd, near Telok Ayer MRT and a lot of food and shops nearby,
Wery cozy, boutique hotel in perfect location in Singapore. Clean, renovated. Friendly staff.
Wow. Cozy, unique, high hosteling standards, very kind staff. A place to come back.
Great place to stay here. Wow such a amazing palace
Super view. Nice amenities. A must visit.
Excellent staff.. great hospitality.. especially the Hotel Manager Alvin
Unique, quaint boutique hotel in excellent location.
Very nice
Nice one
Nice place to stay with authentic Oriental ambient
Nice experience staying at Amoy hotel
Nice stay and good ambiance
Great hotel, good location
Good place to stay.
Very nice hotel
Nice place to visit
This small hotel is centrally located and is close to the Lau Pa Sat food court and Marina Bay can also be reached in about 15 minutes on foot. For traveling to and from the airport, the Telok Ayer MRT station is right next to the hotel entrance and is therefore very comfortable and convenient.||The room was clean and big enough. There were 4 free soda drinks available in the fridge every day, something I've never experienced before. The only small negative point is that there is no breakfast buffet. Instead, you have the choice of two restaurants with breakfast options right around the corner, where you can order à la carte.||The staff was very friendly and helpful. Check-in was efficient and I received a cup of tea and a handwritten card (nice touch). On the day of departure, without asking, I was offered to store my luggage and take a shower later in the afternoon (at another hotel around the corner), both of which I took advantage of and it worked out great.||In short: the price-performance ratio is great Absolutely unbeatable for Singapore for this central location and I will definitely book it again for a possible future visit to Singapore!
The Amoy Hotel is wonderfully located near Chinatown but also Garden by the Bay and other highlights are within walking distance. MRT is in front of the hotel.|The entire team is extremely friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Minibar, coffee and tea are free. WIFI great. Very good breakfast alternatives. We were able to fully enjoy our stay. Many thanks to Letitia, Adham, Jay, Thomas, Jun Hao, Sheirly and Nadjah. We'd love to come back.
The hotel is great and the service is very comprehensive. I stayed for 3 days in total. Although the single room is not big, it is really good for one person. There are also many free ice drinks to drink, which can be replenished at any time every day. The lack of blackout curtains is a little bit bad. I still hope that the hotel can install blackout curtains in the future, which will not only ensure privacy, but also allow people like me who want to sleep in in the morning to sleep better. The location of the hotel is also very good. It is close to Chinatown. It is next to famous food such as Super Noodles, Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, and Liao Fan Chicken Rice. It can be reached in a few to ten minutes on foot. It is very suitable for those who want to enjoy classics. Food tourists.
Very friendly staff and great location. The hotel is housed in an old house/museum, but the room is modern.||Unique mix!||At breakfast, I was able to choose between 2 restaurants.||I can only recommend the hotel!
Everything is good, good attention from the staff, they answer questions as well as give you advice to get to know the city better, the rooms are small, I consider it to be for one person since we brought two large suitcases and two small ones and we had to keep them closed to move comfortable with the room, but they have everything necessary for the stay and they are very well cleaned. The location of the hotel is good, it is central.
Stayed here on a business trip. It was about S$400 via JTB. An old temple? It has been renovated and has a nice atmosphere, and the inside is clean, but the room is about the same size as Toyoko Inn, and there is no bathtub, only a shower room. Even if the price is on par with Japanese business hotels, at this price the rooms would be rated 3 stars. Well, Japanese hotels are probably too cheap for the quality. .
The location is perfect in the city center, is it affiliated? Includes breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Also, after checking out, I was able to leave my luggage with me and walk around the city, and then take a free shower on the 30th floor of the affiliated Clan Hotel, which is a great service in the scorching heat of Singapore! Thanks to this, I was able to wash off my sweat and catch a late-night flight.
