Reviews of Galaxy Pods Capsule Hotel (Chinatown)
It is a nice place to sleep. If you want to spend time in the hotel i dont recommend it but for me perssonally i was there for vacation so i just go and sleep there it was comfortable, nice, clean, everything has an excess card: locker, doors, and bed so you have your privacy. They provide tea, coffee, cold and hot water for free. Bathrooms are clean. Everything was great about the place the location as well.
Good place to stay for the price point and location.
Bathroom and Toilets were clean.
Expect not-so-private rooms and pods.
Our stay was great, convenient location! The only complaint was the shower and toilet were in the same room which created uncomfortable times using the washroom,
Located in Chinatown. The pod is clean, shower also clean. It’s good if you only need a place to sleep or rest.
Cool capsule experience, the pod itself and the rooms are quite clean. The capsule is cool inside and is comfortable to be honest.
The bathrooms are 2 in 1, toilet + shower which can just get a bit messy but for a couple of nights it’s okay.
Spencer received us and checked us in, super cool person!!! Even gave us recommendations for breakfast around and we had an awesome time because of Spencer. 5*
The only meh thing is that the light had to stay on the whole night and that was bothering as the light comes through the capsule. Other than that, we had a great time
Spencer is really nice and funny. I like how straight forward he is. The place is clean, free water and bathrooms as well are always clean. We left our luggages for 8 hours they secure and its free :) will absolutely stay here again. I was with my daughter. She loves Spencer :)
Stayed for 3 nights with my mom. The place was very clean and comfortable overall. Downside is you can hear other people walking, opening/closing their pod but it is quite expected when getting a shared space. Also will suggest putting a curtain to cover the window since people outside can see the guests. Still had a comfortable and safe stay overall, will recommend to friends who are also traveling on a budget. 🫶
Since we had a good experience staying here, I want to leave a comment in order to help other tourists. The receptionists are nice and accommodating. They're more likely to know how to help, especially those of us who came earlier than the check-in time. Our belongings are safe. It is unavoidable that there are noises from other people because it is a close area with many pods. But if you're like us and don't stay too much in the accommodation and get home just to sleep, this is advisable because the price is fine and it is near the Downtown Station, Bus stations, food centers, and other attractions. Our bedding and towels are clean; there is no unusual smell. The toilets are clean. Sometimes it depends on the number of people staying at the time you check in. Like our pod neighbors are quite and considerate. Btw, thank you for the free coffee, and the reception area is fine too.
The guy at the front desk is super friendly and helpful. Great location and clean pods.
If you are looking for an affordable place to stay in Singapore, this is the place to be. It's also in the heart of Chinatown and Hawker's station are just around the corner. Easy to locate and plus points that the receptionist are Filipinos. Will definitely come back here.
Very good location and fair prices for Singapore.
Be careful if you are taller than 1,82 meters, you may not fit from head to toe to fully lie down inside the pod.
The plugs inside the pod work very bad and the structure is made of cheap plastic, you will realise when your upper neighbour will enter the pod.
Also something needs to be done with the rail of the door, it gathers all the dust and various rubbish never cleaned and you sleep just beside that.
An amazing experience at the Galaxy Pods hotel. Spencer was very nice and professional, and also helpful and responsive to my needs. The capsule are really good and very comfy. I'll come there again if I come by Singapore.
Following a +15 hours flight, was warmly greeted at Galaxy Pods. Love the concept, spacious pods, shared bathroom and complementary corner with free tea and coffee. Everyone was quiet and mindful of other residents - should have stayed more than just one night. 100% recommended
Incredibly great value for a backpacker hotel! The pods (esp. the deluxe pods) are more spacious and comfortable than expected, great aircon included—to anyone not used to the chill, bringing socks is extremely recommended. The pods also provide soft, comfy beds as well as USB charging ports, so you don't have to worry about adaptors. However devices tend to have a harder time charging in the lounge room, so it's advised to just charge in your pods.
Pod and bathroom cleanliness could be improved upon, but it's overall still tolerable. Towels, soap and shampoo are provided as well. However, other amenities such as toothbrushes and slippers are BYO as far as I know.
Staff were incredibly welcoming. There were instances of pod door malfunctions due to errors from our part and the staff were quick to respond to and resolve any issues even late into the night (hotel staff were on standby 24hr). They also allowed us to leave our luggage with them after check-out so that we could enjoy our last at Singapore. Staff also highly upheld security, always monitoring the CCTV cameras spread across the hotel premises. I would especially like to commend Mr. Spencer for his hospitality as he helped accommodate our various group booking-specific requests.
Location of the hotel is superb. Hotel is close to 2 7Elevens and 2 MRT Stations. Not to mention that the hotel is in the heart of Chinatown, so you shouldn't worry about where to find food. Hotel neighbors a karaoke bar however, so if you're sensitive to noise you might want to bring earplugs to aid sleeping at night.
Overall I had a 4-days and 3-nights with Galaxy Pods @ Chinatown. We booked the hotel's single, double, and deluxe pods for a 41-persons trip to Singapore; I'd love to try the family-room pods next time I get the chance to visit Singapore.
Nicely located minutes walking away from the Chinatown metro station, decently priced and clean inside. Only issue is that the charging didn’t work well inside the pods, the plug actually tripped a fuse and turned off electricity in our room for a while until we went to reception and they promptly fixed it - broke our battery pack though, charged phones outside of the pod after that as they have plenty of charging plugs around so not a huge issue really. Overall recommended.
If you’re traveling alone and possibly having a new friends. I would recommended here💜 near Chinatown, easy to get foods or drink hehe 😉 not really far from MRT ( around 1,5km ) they have coffee and tea for free. Just a toilet not really enough for showers or do things in the morning much so be prepared 😅 but all good for me😊
One of the cheapest places in Singapore (but still $45pp per night). Rooms were cramped and the beds got changed when people left but the pods didn’t actually get cleaned. Toilets regularly ran out of toilet roll and there was 2 mirrors, 2 toilets and 2 showers for 18-20 people which I found to be frustrating having to wait for prolonged periods to even use the toilet (shower / toilet were in the same cubicle). Rooms could get quite noisy & the lights in the rooms never went off. The “cold” water machine gave out warm water.
Very convenient location - close to train services and many good eateries around the area. This area is particularly bustling close to the Chinese New Year period with festivities ongoing and streets lined with brightly coloured decorations
Stayed from June 11-20, 2023. Place is very clean and organized. Daily cleaning and refilling of coffee stations and changes of linens & towels is being performed. Receptionist: Mr. Spencer is very awesome!!! Attentive and approachable, knowledgable and always have an answer and solution to everything. Strategically located in the heart of Chinatown. Everything is within few minutes walking distance. Maxwell & Chinatown Point & Chinatown Complex offers a very wide varieties of local & international Cuisines. All cultural & places of worships are also nearby. MRT & Bus stations are all accessible (Purple & Blue lines)
This is my first time in a Capsule pod and Galaxy Pods @ Chinatown is welcoming and exceptional. The Pod is spacious and offers a lot of privacy with a locked door. I had a very comfortable stay so I decided to extend my stay for another night.
I had a very good experience in Galaxy Pods Chinatown because all the staff were helpful and professional (especially Spencer). The Pod is clean and the door can be locked and can only be opened with your assigned Pass card. The location is excellent with eateries around and access to public transport within walking distance.
Overall the experience was good.Positive:The pod was bigger than expected and being someone 1.85m tall, I was worriedI would not fit comfortably.Zone is in the middle of bars, temples, and fun areas. You will not find something this cheap in the area.Negative:Pod was pretty loud, you can hear the fan inside, if someone else is moving outside it's pretty audible. The television inside the pod did not work, I reported it when I checked in and was told it would be fixed. Came back later that night and it still wasn't fixed even when I reported it a second time. Not a huge thing, but I would have preferred it all to be working well. The door to the pods is opened with a card, but once inside you can see that it wouldn't be too hard to open with it. Lock should be more secure.
Clean hotel, private pod is suitable for single traveler, clean bed . Easy to access, right in the Chinatown night market, lots of restaurants around. Very suitable for young tourists. But it has no elevator so you have to carry your luggages up to the room.
Can't speak highly enough of the staff. Unbelievable service. So kind and welcoming. Was cool to stay In the pods.
I'm 1.8m in height and I slept diagonally in a double pod. Worked fine for me.
It was my first time staying in a capsule hotel. Spencer is a great owner, always smiling and welcoming he showed me around)
I was really surprised when I discovered that the capsule is actually spacious enough for my 1.86m height (that wouldn’t work in a regular capsule though)
In capsule you have everything you need, even a smart TV😮
We were greeted very warmly by Spencer at Galaxy Pods Chinatown. He showed us everything there and was very helpful. Luckily we also got an upgrade to slightly larger pods as we are almost 1.9 meters tall. We had a great time as a family with 2 children. Spencer always supported us with lots of tips and if you had any questions you could always come to him. Thanks a lot for this.
We can highly recommend the accommodation. You are right in Chinatown and it is not far to walk to Marina Bay. The rest went with Grab without any problems.
There are foodcorts on every corner.
The service is great and good very friendly towards the guest, the room is very comfy and affordable, for the pods they look amazing and futuristic just for resting tho if ur a tall guy since it's quite cramped to sit there so if u want to lay down then u can.
Very nice accommodation.. I slept well and did not even had a hard time inside the pod due to the small space.. Here's a selfie photo inside their lounge area ☺
I was not sure about this kind of room before. But it was really confortable. It was so clean. Air conditions, tv, lights make you feel you are in your room. Thank you so much Spencer. You made it so easy for us to stay here.
This was my first pod stay and it was such an interesting experience. Every time I entered the hotel I was greeted by a very friendly guy who helped me feel welcome. Would definitely recommend.
I’d stayed here for two nights. Overall, it’s an okay stay for a budget friendly hostel like this.
First, I wouldn’t recommend this place for light sleepers. Please note that while the pods look cool with the lights and all, they are not soundproofed at all. You can hear every little sound, even the slightest movement will cause some annoying noises. My first night there was quite nightmarish. I was woken up constantly by the noises that caused by my fellow pod-mates. I heard people snoring/showering door opening/closing , toilet flushing and people whispering. So light sleepers please stay away.
Another thing is that this is a mixed hostel. Solo female travellers may have to take this fact into consideration. You will see some random guys wearing only their boxers walking out of the shower or changing their clothes right in front of their pods.
The place and pods are pretty clean and tidy. The pod itself has cool lights and a control panel for us to control the lightings and the air-cond built inside. There is also a TV attached to the door and it can be controlled using remote control.
Spent my first night in Singapore here since my flight came in late, it was totally cool! Took a Grab from the airport, check in was fast, they ask for a $10 cash deposit (any currency) to ensure you return the key card, which unlocks your pod and powers the buttons like ac, lights. There’s a private tv inside, universal chargers, and a mirror. The pod is the size of a mattress, large luggage gets left outside. Communal bathrooms, private pod. They’re stacked on top each other just like in space! I’m 5’2 and felt I had plenty of room, didn’t feel claustrophobic. Clean, friendly, not sketchy, overall good experience!
It's a pod hotel with shared bathrooms. Maintenance and cleaning are adequate but you are always at the mercy of the lowest common denominator among your fellow guests. It's cheap, includes a breakfast of sorts and is situated among some of the best Chinese restaurants and cheapest I have ever experienced.
Clean & Affordable who wants to spent just 1/2 nights in singapore
Great, modern pod hotel. Clean facilities, comfortable accommodations, nice and quiet. I can't comment enough with just how friendly and professional the staff was. Restaurants close by. Short walk to the Gardens By The Bay. Great location. Very good price. I would definitely stay here again!
My first pod experience…it was priceless and memorable! Thank you Mr Spencer! Keep up the good work buddy!
It's good, but not as comfortable as a regular bed room, but I'll charge this to experience. Food is okay, just not exciting. The staffs were very nice and they let us settle the balance on the last day.
The pod concept is very an experience to live
The location is close to the underground station and some touristic places
But the pod was not really clean (some fresh tasks on the "wall". The door was broken. When I arrive so they gave me another one... That had also a door that does not close properly.
This is fragile. The step for the guy above me was broken.
The air conditioning is far too strong.
You should take two seperate pods instead of one for two because it is so little space. The lockers were super small and you only get 1 locker for 2 people. You get a small breakfast and water and tea whenever you want, which was nice. The hygiene was ok.
Very nice place the only downside is thay the pod is quite small, so if you are a tall guy above 175 you have difficulty staying and the fan inside pod is not strong enough. But overall I enjoy staying here.
Amazing service, great location and cool pods with charging in them. Plenty of space and security cameras to keep your stuff safe.
The environment was bad & very noisy at night. Plus, the Chinese male receptionist was awful & made dirty jokes with customers. Not recommended even with limited budget.
Had a great stay in Galaxy pods recently
Very near to the attractions. Convenience for the food.Power charging b the pod didn’t work.Overall was valuable.
Staff were very nice. However, 3 guests were very noisy and talked very loudy.
Staff may wish to take note of guests who are inconsiderate of others.
There are limited shared bathrooms. Other than that, it is good. Good location and friendly staff.
Fresh idea for running a pod theme hostel. Be nice and be considerate for others as the space are quite limited and tight.
Great place to stay, recommend to everyone! Special thanks to Spencer
Decent rooms with cool space age, techy pods but not the cleanest
The sad part is that you can hear each other’s snore lol
So far the best pod in Singapore. Only short of washing machine
Excellent customer service and fantastic environment and beautiful street bars
Awesome place to stay!
Could be better if the price can be slightly lower
For a budget I guess this has to best among them
Cheap
Easy travel location Close to many tourist attractions The room is quite dusty. Not recommended for people allergic to dust. Book a large room that sleeps 2 people. It's not cramped and is considered good. But the air conditioner isn't cool at all. Very, very, very hot. There are 3 bathrooms. The hot water cannot be adjusted. There is a butt spray. Overall, out of 5, give 3.
These are capsules… very well equipped inside.
Very quiet and clean.
Not far (5-10 minutes walk) from Chinatown, Royal Park and Marina Bay.
The night is around 35-40€.
Luggage and water service available on the ground floor!
When you go out you have a large choice of restaurants… Enjoy!
The hotel is very simple. The capsules are getting old and the sockets are already falling out. The control panel has to be pressed often and extremely hard for anything to happen.
Anyone who is meticulous should deviate from this idea. With 18 people, the toilet and shower (as a combination of approx. 1.5x1.5m) are not always particularly clean.
The capsules are not sound insulated, so any movement from above or next to you is very well recorded. If you're unlucky enough to have guests snoring or watching TV, you'll hardly get any sleep at all, as every time you go to the toilet it's very loud to open and close the capsule.
If you don't have a problem with all of this, you can book this accommodation without hesitation.
The location is perfect right in Chinatown on the train, where you can get everywhere cheaply.
The price performance in this hotel is okay. There are several rooms with around 15-20 capsules. The capsule itself is made of plastic and is therefore quite noisy. In the capsule there is a USB port, a TV with Netflix & Co and various lights that can be adjusted. The location is very good in China Town as you can get everywhere by metro. However, the sanitary facilities are not really clean and spacious. There is also a karaoke bar under the hotel which made it difficult to sleep.
It was a cool experience to sleep in a PodsHotel.
I found it very quiet and thought the pods looked very cool with the space look.
Welcoming and pleasant staff.
Room side, some problems, impossible to open it when we arrived, the staff had to come and repair it with a drill. Not too confident.
In the end we were told that we could still open the room without the card.
The bedroom mirror fell off, it's just stuck to the double-sided... They didn't repair it.
The place is original although a little noisy because it is a common room. The lockers are small and there is no place to put the suitcases which are all in the passage.
There is, however, a secure locker available per room, enough to store 2 small backpacks.
There is a bar on the street which is quite noisy.
The toilet/shower area is clean and functional. However, there is an unprotected fan near the coat racks, it is quite dangerous for the hands...
Ultimately the quality/price ratio is quite good for Singapore.
Very good location.
Way too cold in the room.
There wasn't actually a mattress and it was far too thin. There was far too little space for all the luggage. If someone had to open their suitcase, no one else could do anything.
The accommodation was pretty good, but the experience was not that great because we met some noisy and energetic Filipinos on the lower bunk. Other than that, they have pretty high CP.
The capsules are good to stay for a few days. Each capsule has its own air conditioning (a little noisy) and light. In addition, each capsule has its own sockets to charge cell phones and other devices. Our plug didn't work properly the first night, but the staff was very helpful. Spencer even lent us a portable battery so we could charge our cell phones while we walked (thanks Spencer!! ❤️)
There is free coffee, tea and water that is very good and appreciated.
Common areas are sparse - there's only one communal seat next to the coffee station and not enough space to leave things inside or outside the pod.
The hotel sector is beautiful, the Chinatown that I liked the most. Many stalls to eat or buy souvenirs. The metro is a 7-minute walk away and from there you can get anywhere.
[English below]
1. Location: near China Town MRT point so it's very convenient.
2. Room with many pods but only 2 small bathrooms. Sometimes it's a mess
3. Price is low compare to others but still high as it's expensive in Singapore.
4. Pods suitable for short people (less than 165cm I think 🤔
5. Plastic cup inside I don't think that's good to have a hot coffee ☕ paper cups is better
*******
1. Location: Quite good and convenient to travel, near MRT China town and near the night market and dining area.
2. The room has many pods, and we also meet many Vietnamese people here. But many rooms share a toilet, which is quite inconvenient and sometimes the toilet is very dirty
3. Cheap price but still expensive for me 🤣🤣🤣
4. The bed is comfortable for short people =)) under 165cm
5 plastic cups for making hot coffee are not very good. Cups are better
It was my first time to stay in a space capsule. I didn't have high expectations. I just hoped that I could get a lower bunk bed when I booked the room. However, I was disappointed that the hotel didn't pay attention to the guest's request and gave me an upper bunk bed, which made it inconvenient for me to get in and out. In addition, the hotel itself is underground (I chose it because I didn’t have to go up the stairs because I was carrying a heavy luggage.) But...it turned out that I was assigned another hotel on the second floor...it pissed me off. 😡Except for the above issues, everything else is acceptable (hygiene and environment.)
