We had a great experience working with Couple Abode for our BTO house renovation. From the initial consultation to the handover, our ID Alson, demonstrated a great level of professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail. Not only did he listen to our ideas, he offered valuable suggestions and alternatives to achieve the look that we want. He was very patient during the design phase, discussing and guiding us on various material options, balancing quality and budget considerations. Alson's resourcefulness and extensive knowledge truly sets him apart from other IDs we have met, and we can really trust him to come up with ways to make our ideas become a reality. Alson was very transparent with timelines and costs, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns. He was also incredibly accommodating, even with our last-minute changes or rectification. He is always patient and willing to answer any of our questions, address concerns and make adjustments as needed, which we are very grateful for. We are especially pleased with the quality and craftsmanship of the final outcome. The end result is a warm, inviting, and cosy living space that perfectly reflects our style. TLDR Version: - Price is super value for the quality of work and design. They don’t overpromise and are able to deliver within a reasonable timeline. - They are upfront about all the costs and necessary works; no hidden fees and they don’t intentionally leave out on quoting items which they feel is necessary from their experience (I have heard of IDs intentionally leaving out items only to tell owners that it’s needed to add on at additional cost after signing contracts) - Designers are clearly experienced with many good design and practical layout inputs. As the renovations are ongoing, they will also add minor tweaks where they deem will fit and compliment the design. - Designers manage the project well, actively coming down to site and ensuring that the small details are taken care of. - High attention to details. Easily contactable and always just a phone call away for clarification. - Designers go out of their way as well to recommend places to shop for fittings and furniture, and to even go down to select items that suits the theme of the house - Subcontractors that they work with are very nice and cooperative. The working relationship between them and the designers are clearly well established and this is important. Designer and subcontractors clearly know what to expect from each other. While renovating, there could be many changes and alterations required and subcontractors are usually happy to help given the good working relations. - Very personal and enjoyable journey with designer. Made a good friend through working with them. It has been an amazing experience working with Alson from Couple Abode for both my wife and myself and we highly recommend him to all our friends and family who are looking to renovate their place. Alson was the first designer that we sat down with during our search for an ID. The session was extremely fruitful and enjoyable with him clearly note of our considerations, preferences, and style for our first home. As we worked on the overall design and layout, Alson expertly provided a lot of suggestions to improve the design and optimise the space in the house. While we sourced for other IDs thereafter (we didn’t want to just settle with the first person we met), Alson left a really good impression on us with his design and layout inputs. After visiting another 3 IDs, we ultimately went back to him and we are glad we did. The preparation process for selection and designs were done way in advance before the collection of our keys. The ideation and selection process were well guided by him providing inputs from his experience and eye as a designer. Many of the selection suited the theme that we were looking for and made the whole place a lot more homely for us. Alson plans ahead of schedule and many of the selection was done in advance. Even though renovation was only expected to start in May’23, a lot of items were already decided and firmed up by Dec'22. This ensured that when the renovation started, the finer details were already discussed and thought through simply waiting for execution. This gave us a lot of assurance that the project was in good hands and we simply had to watch all that was discussed become reality. When we shopped for furniture and fittings, many times we had to call Alson on the phone or to join us directly to get his input and he was always more than happy to make time for us whenever he could. He also gave us a few good suppliers to get some of the items that we needed and they were of good quality and reasonably priced. Finally, through out and especially towards the completion of the renovation, he would actively come down to site to monitor the progress and catch the finer details of defects and rectifications that needed to be made. This ensured that by the time we moved in, there was minimal disruption to our lives for post renovation rectifications. Was overwhelmed tinking the need to go thru the process of designin, renovatin for my newly brought resale flat… However Couple Abode solved all these problem for me… I wouldnt say there was a smooth sailing transition thru out the whole reno mainly due to the structure of the flat that there r some changes needed to b made… However Alson who i/c of my ID n reno made it stress free for me… I fully gave him my 100% trust to complete my dream house design, he nv fail to update of the process thru out the reno process… Believe it or not i didnt need to be physically ard the house for the whole reno, i juz dropped by couple of times due to my eagerness on how is the process done… Alson even made time for me to choose the house electrical stuff n accessories as well… Too many designs to choose fr n i juz need his professional pnt of view… He even helped me fix up of furniture i bought fr Taobao… The outcome of the reno was indeed perfect dream house… Kudos to Annabel as well who was assisting Alson, she help us alot in choosing of titles. Choosin of titles was really overwhelming with the wild range of designs and types… Thx a million Alson n not forgettin Annabel too!

Couple abode was one of the 7 IDs we spoke to and one of the final 2 we shortlisted. Despite Alson’s solid drawing skills and active listening to our needs, we didnt end up choosing them due to their lack of interest in following up. For a designer who seem to care a lot more than others about whom we spoke to and proposals we were getting, I was disappointed to be the party following up and being lied to about sending across a follow-up document that didnt come through. It could help them to know that we are all adults who can take no for an answer rather than silence or lies. As busy working professionals, we not only value design ideas or craftmanship but also prompt responses and making progress.

We engaged Couple Abode to help with our BTO renovations as first time home owners. Alson and Annabel were help in the entire process and actively helping us achieve our vision / mood board that we had for our new home. What I appreciated the most was their candid nature in the designing and helping us figure out what was plausible rather than blindly saying "yes" to everything we requested for. Alson and Annabel helped guide us through the entire process and was forthcoming in figuring out alternatives whenever problem/deviation from the original plans arises. Their candour is greatly appreciated throughout the entire process and was willing to help explain the nuances / difference in why they go about doing things in a certain way, rather than just dismissing it as "industry standard". Overall, was great to have engaged Couple Abode and it was a pleasure to work with Alson & Annabel throughout this journey.

Posting a long overdue review for the ID firm that we engaged in 2020 We approached a couple of ID firms prior to the first circuit breaker in Mar20. After meeting with the various IDs from the different firms, we decided to engage Alvin from Couple Abode for our renovation. We felt that Alvin was not pushy, extremely warm and friendly, very transparent with his quotations, perfectly understood what our requirements and wants are, and most importantly could clique with us. The long series of circuit breakers kicked in subsequently but Alvin diligently sent us 3D designs based on the mood boards and colour schemes that we sent to him. Due to the delays caused by Covid-19, we collected our house keys only in Apr21/May21. Despite the increased labour and material costs due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Couple Abode honored the contract we signed in 2020 and did not increase the costs for our renovation. Alvin kickstarted the project shortly after the defect check and rectification and completed the project by our proposed deadline in Aug22. Throughout the entire renovation, Alvin displayed all the ideal traits of an ID (see below): 1) Merticulous: Alvin went through all the measurements of the carpentry with us to ensure that the carpentry were built to our exact requirements. 2) Patient: As with every first homeowner, we had no idea what we want and our ideal design kept changing, even after the renovation started. However, Alvin was extremely patient with us and worked with us to design a house that catered to our needs and wants. 3) Professional: Although having more carpentry works would equate to a larger profit margin, Alvin never once suggested for build-in carpentry for this purpose. If he felt that we did not need build-in carpetnry, he would suggest that we get furniture off the shelf instead. 4) Experienced: Alvin was very experienced and provided valuable suggestions throughout our renovation journey, for which we really appreciate. For example, he told us that having long tiles may result in flooring that is slightly uneven. He also advised against shifting from the sink from the original water point as it may result in a higher chance of clogging. 5) Eye for design: Alvin is artistic and has an eye for design. We requested for him to choose our wall and door colours and were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. As we wanted to incorporate curves into our house, Alvin introduced subtle curves in the carpentry and also used partitions to create beautiful arcs. 6) Responsive: Alvin replies to our messages very promptly. Even after the renovation, he still responds quickly to any follow up questions or help that we require. 7) Has homeowner's best interest at heart: I cannot emphasize how he always has the homeowner's best interest at heart. Some examples: - He proposed for us to get off the shelf furniture instead of build-in carpentry for certain areas as he does not see the need for us to incur extra costs - He thought about our lifestyle and designed a house that was well suited for cooking - He understood what we wanted for our house design and created a house that was bright and open. - He instructed the contractors to never smoke in our house during the renovation as we did not like the smell of smoke. Overall, we are very glad and blessed that we engaged Alvin as our ID. If we were to have another house in the future, I would not hesitate to engage his services again.

After hearing much negative rumours on choosing the wrong Interior Designer, we did much homework for our very first unit together. Having set up a barrier whenever we meet a ID firm to discuss the plans before we collect our keys, and to be honest, Couple Abode was a new establishment when we 1st met. We had our reservations, but after much discussions with Alson, and with his assurance, we only decided to sign up with him on our 3rd meeting. In fact, the reason we went with him was because he did not hard sell his ideas or products to us, which gave us the trust in him. As much as our renovation plans were about to run smoothly, covid hits us hard and we had to stop for quite a while. Alson regularly update us on the possibilities of the renovation resuming and what are the possble outcomes. We too knew that he had his difficulties as the Malaysian workers were not allowed into Singapore, but with his continuous assurance, we felt as ease. When renovation was allowed to continue, he and his team was professional as there was no corner cuttings in order to deliver the project, despite being delayed for quite a while. I would say, quality would be at its best. Furthermore, Alson was pretty flexible about changes in ideas in between the renovation works. Definitely I would say the barrier of ID and client were broken and the main take away from this renovation was that, a friendship was forged.

We engaged Couple Abode - Mr Alson for his consultation on our new BTO project. His patience and expertise on renovation materials exceeds our expectations. Not only do he recommend on layout structure, he also recommends on relevant materials and not pushy on sales. Alson did a good job designing and doing up our cosy home. He was easy to worked with and understood our conceptual idea well. From there, he was able to materialise what we had in mind. Price-wise, it was also competitive. There really isn't much to complain about, except that his business is too good and he hardly has time to settle some of the minutiae stuff. Plus point, he has an adorable dog at his office.
