Reviews of The Local INN.terior
Our reno journey started when we began exploring options for IDs. Our ID, Kenny Yeo, impressed us during our first meeting as he was forthcoming and clear in sharing his ideas about possible designs for consideration. We felt that we could connect well with him as he has a warm and approachable personality. We did not have the same vibes with the other IDs. For us, it is important that we could connect well with our ID. In terms of reno cost, based on our requirements, it was relatively the same with the other IDs.
Our initial challenge was to complete at a certain timeline as we would need to move out from our current house. However, due to Chinese New Year, Kenny highlighted the likelihood of delay as workers would not be available during that period. Kenny was able to adopt a flexible approach and provided with options to accommodate a more practical reno schedule. He had to rearrange the work to ensure that some work got done before CNY. He had to take a different approach to the usual project schedule.
On paper it looked quite straightforward. However, during the process, it was quite challenging with the tight project coordination. Kenny managed to pull it off and we managed to complete most of the works in time for us to move in. There were some tradeoffs with respect to the payment schedule due to the rearrangement of the work.
Even after we moved in to our new home, there were emerging issues e.g. gas and water piping which we only knew after we moved in. Kenny was quick to addres them and worked hard to find various solutions to address the issues.
Like most reno projects, we also had to do rectifications. Kenny ensured that the rectifications were comprehensively addressed before we signed off and made the final payment.
Overall, it had been a wonderful learning journey for us and we would like to thank Kenny and Local Inn.terior for their excellent work.
Nonetheless, there were certainly areas which could be improved. This would include better and clearer communication. At times, there were things that Kenny missed out to inform us which we only knew later. The workmanship of the contractors could also be improved. Some works were not within our expectations which we had asked to make rectifications.
Overall, The Local INN.terior is a very good quality and reliable ID. With some improvements, they could be even better.
Can’t recommend Abigail enough – thank you :)
After meeting with quite a few IDs, we decided to go with Abigail, as from the very first minute, it felt like she just got what we wanted. And from there on, it was an absolute pleasure to make it a reality with her. Working with her almost felt like we were working with a close friend, it was super flexible and easy.
We worked on a resale 3-room unit, which was completely overhauled – with major layout changes. But it felt like an easier process that it should have. Her creative recommendations were invaluable in the process, from the laying out to the designing to the planning of all the little details, she was making out of the box suggestions that felt right. She has a singular creative vision – and it showed in the lovely 3D rendition we eventually received.
We were a little stressed about how that 3D would translate to reality, but even there, she was on top of the project. We received timely and regular updates. And she was super flexible about making changes / re-doing bits and pieces if we weren’t happy.
What’s amazing is we’re still in touch with almost a year after the project was complete – and she’s still helping us out with any issues we face. I genuinely can’t thank (and recommend!) Abigail enough.
Amazing reno job by Amelia, we told her from the start we want to be as hands off as possible due to our job schedule, and she took everything into her hands and gave us constant updates and ensured the work quality was top notch. She also has amazing after sales service and truly just wants her clients to have a comfy and lovely home to return to. I strongly recommend Amelia as anyone's ID, and am so happy we decided to trust her with our first home together!
YY did a wonderful job bringing the vision for own home to life. She understood our vibe almost immediately and listened to our preferences, instead of pushing for designs like some other IDs we consulted.
She was collaborative, and her eye for design meant we could lean on her for counsel when we were overwhelmed by so many choices! She even helped us look at furniture to ensure everything would tie together nicely.
Adopting a solution-driven approach to issues ensured that issues were fixed. She proactively addressed a water pipe situation, which we only found out after it was resolved - this reassured us that we were in good hands.
Most of all, she was really friendly and sweet, and was able to achieve our intended design while keeping the costs within budget.
Overall, a very great experience!
As first time HDB BTO owners going through our first reno project, we’d highly recommend Tiffany our ID from The Local INN.terior.
After meeting with 15 different IDs and direct contractors we decided to engage Tiffany for the qualities that were important to us. 1) Responsive - Tiffany was always quick to respond and not overly pushy with her follow ups. 2) Practical Designs - Many times during the design phase, she would always recommend practicality and function over designs that were just aesthetic which might have cost more. 3) Experience - Only 2 out of the 15 IDs pointed out a specific problem with the design we had in mind, and Tiffany also had many suggestions that could only come with experience.
Over the whole reno process these 3 qualities helped bring our ideas to life, not without hiccups but rather an improved solution to the situations we face, thanks to Tiffany’s resourcefulness.
From start to finish Tiffany was always readily available to answer our questions and never once did she make us feel we had too many questions. She answered questions about tile choices, carpentry sizes, furniture placements, appliances fittings and many more.
Cost and pricing were always discussed upfront and very openly by Tiffany, never once did we feel pressured or stuck to make a decision. Tiffany readily provided cost effective options and alternatives.
Also a shout out to the carpenters, sub-contractors and different workers who made our house reno come true as a testament to the team The Local INN.terior has built up.
Thank you Tiffany and The Local INN.terior!
My family is very happy with Tiffany who is our ID. Very attentive to our needs and responsive to our queries and requests. Her design proposal is also very much aligned to what we have in mind. A very responsible lady that you can put your trust on. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs an ID.
[Review for Yiann, The Local Innterior]
Finding the Perfect Fit
Choosing an interior designer felt overwhelming! With countless options, unclear pricing, and our inexperience as first-time homeowners, we were lost. I had some initial ideas, but doubts crept in constantly. What was the "perfect" design anyway? I needed someone to guide me: brainstorm solutions, refine the theme, and translate my dream into reality. Luckily, after interviewing 10 designers, we found Yiann, a rising star at The Local Innterior.
The Design Journey
Ideas: Yiann impressed us from the start. Before signing, she incorporated most of our requests into the floor plan and 3D model. Her initial ideas were innovative yet practical. We brainstormed and explored many renditions before settling on a unique theme: a blend of wood, metal, and concrete, with a special rust-effect paint that tied everything together seamlessly. Yiann's patience and boldness throughout the process were invaluable. We pushed each other to create something extraordinary, and I believe she truly delivered.
Price: The Local Innterior offers competitive pricing, not the absolute cheapest, but remember – you get what you pay for! There were additional, foreseen costs for things like concealment and lighting, but Yiann always worked within our budget and offered cost-saving suggestions.
Feel & Communication: Yiann's professionalism and friendliness made her feel like a design-savvy friend. This fostered open and stress-free communication. We discussed ideas and plans effectively through a shared WhatsApp group chat, ensuring prompt and consistent communication.
The Execution
Carpentry: The carpentry is the house's crown jewel, both in design and quality. Built-ins grace the entrance (shoe cabinet, bomb shelter cover, storage), kitchen and island, toilets, and master bedroom. The design is impressive, and visitors constantly compliment the workmanship.
Tiling & Painting: Yiann's guidance with tile selection was spot-on, laying the foundation for the overall aesthetic. While a minor grouting issue could be improved (a common challenge in many projects), it doesn't detract significantly. The paint job addressed the uneven surfaces and textures left by HDB, but the worker's performance could be better. Yiann and I had to supervise, but the job was completed with the promise of rectification if needed. There were prompt touch-ups arranged with contractors, ensuring everything was addressed.
Overall Impression
I absolutely love my home! From the design and workmanship to the space utilization, it's fantastic. While perfection is elusive, especially considering the state of the HDB and the nature of grouting/flooring, I couldn't be happier. I truly enjoyed the entire design and build journey with Yiann. Kudos to her for her fantastic work! I highly recommend taking a chance on her – you won't regret it!

Our experience in working with Lydia for the renovation of our home has been a rewarding and positive one.
Lydia proposed several designs to begin with, they served as good platform for discussion. Along the way, she gave us a lot of flexibility on implementing our own wish list. She helped turn our ideas into something tangible through her design knowledge and experience. When designing the space, Lydia was incredibly efficient, she came up with innovative solutions to make the most out of our limited square footage. It was almost like a ‘bigger house’ transformation as everything seemed to fit perfectly into place.
The way Lydia communicating and follow up were particularly impressive. She was assertive and honest with us about the timeline, costs and how she would go about planning and organizing the renovation. The team which she brought in were mostly meticulous and produce good quality works. In some rare cases which things did not go as per plan, we see she used her strength in communicate-with-assertiveness-and-tactfulness well to bring back team on track. We were never left in dark and she was able to provide solid answer to our questions. We see no excuse but sincerity to provide solution.
Overall, Lydia’s professionalism, assertiveness and knowledge were invaluable to the success of the project.
We contacted Local Inn.terior’s JJ Ng. He was recommended to us by a friend. Engaging him was an easy process as he was patient and understanding. What I appreciated most about working with him is his ability to understand and cater to our needs and wants while not being afraid to give his opinions and different solutions. He holds this tension well without coming off too pushy.
Renovation process was smooth and quickly handled. Workmanship quality was overall satisfactory. Project was managed in a timely manner. I was impressed by how consistent our house looked compared to the initial design render.
One area of improvement for JJ is being more organized with admin work and more detailed-oriented. No doubt this is tricky with managing multiple projects.
After meeting a few IDs, we finally decided to go with Vincent from TLI. The meeting process was quite fuss free as we had a 4 rm BTO with a general idea of what we wanted. The end result was a process of trust and is generally good but of course, it’s not perfect. However, Vincent has been very prompt in replying and arranging for rectifications which we appreciate! He was also open to trouble shooting when we had questions on some of the designs and provided solutions to some of the issues we encountered. The whole reno was done in 2.5 months and we are happy that they could do it before the year ended for us.
JJ was very helpful right from our first meeting, even though we have not confirm him nor the firm, he met us 4 times to address questions that we had.
We also found him to be very practical and genuine who looked to help us cut unnecessary costs, contrary to what many perceptions of IDs are like.
He was also very prompt in his replies to us and was, at times, chasing us along the process instead of the other way round, underlining his strong project management skills. We also like that he was very proactive, instead of reactive, booking and stacking our contractors so that no time was wasted and we can proceed with the journey smoothly.
I would say that we are not the easiest of clients to deal with but JJ has managed us and our expectations well through the process.
We worked with YY for our home renovation and the whole process was an overall great experience. She was very responsive to any issues highlighted to her, and made sure they are all followed up promptly. She also was very proactive in providing us with constant updates on our renovation progress, which was really appreciated as my spouse and I were both busy with our work schedules and therefore were unable to follow up closely on the renovation.
She was also very willing to accommodate to our requests and paid very close attention to our needs and requirements, often providing her inputs on even matters concerning our choice of furniture etc. Indeed, we both felt blessed that we had engaged her for our renovation as we had a truly beautiful home we look forward to going back everyday, mainly due to her heart and soul put into creating the perfect home for us.
Once again, our sincerest and deepest thanks to YY for her excellent work.
Working with Lydia to achieve our dream home was a breeze! We were quite clear on the theme/concept from the onset and we were drawn to Lydia's past projects which had similar designs and we were confident that she could bring our dream to reality.
Whenever we had any ideas, Lydia would carefully share with us the pros and cons (and the respective costs too) to help us make informed decisions. She was also always very prompt in reacting/rectifying any issues that cropped up during the renovation process.
After we moved in, she would also always be there to quickly ask her contractors to rectify any issues that came up.
It has been our pleasure to work with Lydia!
Steven was good in proposing design ideas and shade/colour of our deco to match the design. He's responsible and responsive throughout our whole renovation journey.
We would definitely recommend Steven if you're looking for a Designer.
We met 6 different interior designers before deciding to work with Joanne because she was knowledgeable, provided the most practical suggestions and was able to adapt her design to fit our many requirements. Throughout the project, Joanne was responsive and kept us updated on changes to timeline / issues. The quality of the carpentry was good and any defects were adequately and promptly addressed. Even though there were some hiccups along the way, we are very happy with how our Japandi home turned out! Thanks Joanne for your help during this process!
Jia Jun has been receptive and understanding of our needs and requirements. Requests are never denied but appropriately reviewed and considered before viable options are proposed. This has resulted in a very positive experience throughout the renovation process and a well thought out home which is functional, spacious and welcoming for our family.
The workmanship has been good though there are little areas that are being addressed as we live in the space more and identify issues. That said, these are generally minor patches in the finishing which tend to be identified and easily fixed promptly.
Communication has been key in this journey and JJ has been diligent in ensuring that we are aware of what is happening and promptly addresses any queries we may have.
I would recommend Jia Jun to anyone who is looking for a professional, diligent and transparent ID who takes into consideration your requirements (and one should be clear about how they envision living in the space) whilst working within the limitation of the site and not hesitating to let you know when there are constrains so that an appropriate alternative can be identified.
I was attracted to one of the rendering they posted on FB. I Called up and Cee Leah was the one who answered my enquiry and therefore we arrange the meet-up at their showroom.
During the discussion session, I told her my budget and my ideas for the new place. I received the first draft in a week time and the rendering in following week. I love the layout and concept and in fact I didn’t comment much except for the color of the flooring. I received the revised rendering in next couple of hours which I think they are very efficient.
Cee Leah knows what was my ideas for the house and able to keep it within my budget. She also very patient during the materials selection. We spent almost 5 to 6 hours go thru the selection and many details drawing.
I visited the site frequently during the renovation, the workmanship is good especially the carpentry work. Tiling work was great too.
Overall I am satisfied with the workmanship and happy that they able to meet the timeline ( 5 weeks ) right after phase 2 opened and really appreciate all the helps that Cee Leah given and liaising with the contractor. Highly recommend this ID company.
After few rounds of hunting around for an ID to help us with reno for our resale, we decided to go with JJ from TLI. It’s been a great experience so far as he’s been very patient and kind in helping us make the right decisions even when we’re experiencing decision fatigue or indecisiveness. The journey with him so far has been smooth without any hiccups. He’s always prompt in responding any queries we might have and also providing any updates he may have. Being folks who are busy at our day jobs, this definitely puts our mind at peace without worrying on the finer details of reno. Looking forward to the end product at the end of the journey soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed the process of renovation with JJ, our appointed ID. He was only the third ID we had visited but from the first meet up we already felt comfortable with him. He was neither pushy with his ideas, nor was he cold and aloof about hearing what we wanted to say (something we felt from our first two IDs).
I have to qualify also that this process was not easy for either party. Firstly, we had preconceived ideas we pulled together from online which we felt were nice. However, JJ was honest to share that it either was not practical and sustainable, or the ideas clashed with the theme we were going for. This eventually gave us the assurance that we were going to have a home that has a seamless design, but initially made us worried our ideas were not taken seriously. Secondly, we were on a tight deadline as we needed to vacate our first home within 3 months. Thirdly, the home we bought had a lot of odd corners and was definitely not a cookie cutter BTO type of 4 room flat. This gave us a lot of headache in space planning but JJ was game to take on the challenge. From the time we engaged him till midway through the renovation, we have lost count of the number of iterations of floor plans we have made with JJ. This is not because he was poor in planning the space, but because there were many unexpected issues that arose with this 36 year old flat which was poorly developed in the early years of HDB.
We realized the value that JJ brought to this project the most during this phase, because he highlighted issues early and was very quick to meet us to discuss proposed solutions. When you look at our home now, all you see is the finished product, but between ourselves and JJ, we know what we had to do to find a workaround for many of the issues. I have to mention that this project commenced no earlier than 20th May and it was completed by 30 June. This is an impressive feat that required strong manpower command and project management, as well as many late nights on JJ's part. His professionalism and dedication to the project is beyond doubt and we also appreciate that the materials he selected were of premium quality at an affordable rate. When space became an issue and the standard item could not work, he went ahead to make an upgrade without additional cost with no complains. Due to the complexity of the project and our requirement of creating a home that was minimalist with little exposed trunking, there was a need to exceed our initial budget. However, we appreciate the fact that JJ compensated this by ensuring excellent workmanship and a seamless design.
We met with three companies in our search for an ID and while they were well-matched in terms of price and enthusiasm, we decided to work with Teck Hou primarily because of the comfort and ease in communication with him.
My husband and I had a clear vision of what we'd like from the start, providing a brief and moodboard to Teck Hou. To his credit, he was unafraid to let us know when something was impractical or to suggest ways to lower the cost when what we wanted was cost-prohibitive. On top of that, he came up with good solutions and suggestions to improve what we already had in mind. As we have a similar design sensibility, there were many details we left completely to Teck Hou to take care of, trusting that he'd choose the most suitable elements.
Of course, it's inevitable for there to be hiccups, although we would say that the minor issues along the way were quickly addressed and eventually attended to. For example, when we found a problem with the water flow on the toilet floor, he had the area re-tiled as soon as he could.
We love the outcome of our renovation and cannot be more appreciative of the work he and his brilliant team have done here. What we like best about Teck Hou is that he was game for everything we suggested and made all our discussions such fun, collaborative affairs.
A note on TLI as a whole - we were heartened to hear upon engaging them that we would be part of their fundraising campaign for the Singapore Cancer Society. The company made out a $500 donation in our names right after we signed the contract with them. This was unexpected and a great start to our renovation journey.
Similarly, during our meetings at their office, the warm and convivial atmosphere always made us feel like we were visiting with friends. Things like these revealed a company that cared about more than just the bottomline which I'd definitely recommend.
Highly recommend Jonathan from The Local INN.terior Pte.Ltd. We had a very pleasant experience working with him. He certainly impressed us with his paper drawings and was able to provide recommendations and alternatives to some of the design problems we were facing. Throughout the project, Jonathan has always been professional, patient and accommodating to our requests and questions. He is also quick to respond and has the expertise to explain everything to us in great detail.
It was a pleasure working with him on my new BTO. I greatly appreciate his service! Thanks bro!
Amazing experience with Kenny who was very quick and professional with the entire process. From getting the permits to executing the design while listening and being sensitive to our needs, we really appreciate the help getting our cafe Balestier Market Collective up!! Thanks Kenny!!
This is a follow up to the 5stars review that I have left on qanvast/facebook for Joyce & The local inn.terior. we have moved in for ~9mths now and she has continued to provide us prompt service and response. The company has indeed stayed true to their word of a warranty for a year. Her attitude has remained the same throughout which is a great sign of professionalism and customer service. Thank you Joyce for turning our space into a lovely and cosy home! Couldn't have asked for a better renovation experience.
We are browsing through Qanvast and was impressed by The Local INN.terior works. We contacted them directly and Louis was appointed to assist us.
After much ID comparing, we decided to engage The Local INN.terior for the job. Although there’s minor hiccups during the process, Louis was able to solve it for us.
We are very happy with the end product and will definitely recommend The Local INN.terior to my friends/family.
