Reviews of Empress Road Market and Food Centre
All food between $4-$5, snacks and drinks start from $1. Homemade noodles, meatballs, chicken and duck rice taste amazing! Steak and fries start from $10.
No air-conditioning. Presence of birds and oily tables.
This hawker centre is rather spacious but has not much good food to offer. Nonetheless, I have a few favourite stalls and they are:
1. 添乐 Tien Le, Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken (#01-70)
2. 阿婶阿嬷潮州粿 Kuehs and Snacks (#01-84)
3. Farrer You Tiao (#01-99)
4. 詠記麵家 Ah Wing's Wanton Mee (#01-108)
Love the Laksa! Broth is just unami but less salt.
Maybe it is my 1st Time that I walked here ! So it Interesting to me to see Long Q for Organic Vegs !
More keen on the Cooked Food Section !
It’s a simple single storey market. One half is the wet market, 1 half is the hawker. There are some pretty good gems at the hawker. I highly recommend heading down to this market to try the delights. You won’t be disappointed!
SOH food stewed duck & fish maw. Surprised to find this delicacy in a hawker centre; duck meat was tender and fish maw was soft and full of flavour 👍🏻
You better come here at lunch otherwise they don’t give fresh food. Also, if you are a chicken rice fan go to Farrer road chicken rice. Be sure to go before 12:20 p.m.
The western restaurants are very nice taste and money's worth
This makrket has many stores selling different things.
Most stalls open only till about 3pm. Must try is Poh preserved veg hor fun.
Market closed. Went hawker Centre for some quick bite of goreng pisang fried banana 🍌.
Love the fact that it's not as busy and crowded as other hawker centers. You can actually relax and take your time in enjoying your meal here.
There are some stalls to try here and are popular like the Wanton Mee and Biryani meals.
The wet market has a good selection of vegetables and meat at standard market prices. The hawker food side is a little lacking but there are a few good options in the morning to early afternoon. Nothing much past 5pm so go earlier.
I really like the Chick and Chops western stall as the meals are always freshly cooked and very tasty!
The food centre has a nice wide selection of food. I like that it has more Malay halal food here than in some other food centres. However the toilets are horrible. They could be vastly improved. Wet and smelly 😷, a typical public toilet from the 70's; they can take as a good example of what a public toilet in a food centre should be from Commonwealth Food Centre. Its pretty clean and decent there, and using it is reasonably pleasant.
> Minus one star for that. 😰😵
Delicious and relatively cheap place for breakfast and lunch. Stalls generally closed after lunch hour so the choices after 4pm is really limited. Some stalls open until ~9pm and you should avoid coming here after 10pm as most of them should have closed.
Love Empress Market. It's a small-ish wet market but has everything you would need. Vendors & stall owners are very friendly & helpful. Very happy to be like being near here to get all my fresh fruit, veg, flowers & eggs.
We love to go there at the weekend, have dumpling ramen at one of the stalls (really great) & a beer or like juice.
Plenty of hawker food to eat. My favourite is the roast meat stall at the end near the playground. Delicious and big portion. The stalls all finish early though. More a lunch place than dinner. Has free and strong Wifi wireless Sg too
Went there today day morning to eat chicken rice while eating I saw some people eating things like longtong and fishball noddle and it look very good but my chicken rice was one of the best I have ever tried highly recommended this find chicken rice
Not the best nor the most fresh hawker stall, but has good food variety. Crowded on Sundays. Most stalls close before dinner. There's small shops with general products, a 7-Eleven, two bakeries, a veterinary clinic, a shop full of fruits and more.
Just like any other food Court you will find standard offerings like bak chor mee, chicken rice, nasi lemak etc but nothing stands out. If you happen to be there and are hungry just go for what appeal to you at that moment.
I like the drinks stall as the man is friendly. Some stalls selling vegetarian food, western sets, and fishball noodle. Fresh vegetable, fruits and pourty are sold at the market. Many maids bought trolly of food for their employers.
OMG that’s all I can say! But I do loved this market and once a week I been there to buy some fresh veggies, fresh fruits and some fresh fish and chicken etc they only thing that it’s very nice is even a small market but you can get it all what I need in one stall or a shop because they have lots of variety or items that u need.
The teh halia from Star cafe is the bomb, as is the chicken rice from Farrer Road Chicken Rice.
For produce, I recommend the veg store in the third aisle with a team of uncles and aunties (closed on Sundays) ... DO NOT BUY FROM this guy called Ah Chai in the fourth aisle who is the rudest most unaccommodating vendor I have ever encountered.
My favourite
- chicken seller is the couple whose stall is the nearest to the bus stop in the first aisle,
- seafood seller (second aisle) with the large display,
- pork seller (third aisle) old uncle
- beef seller (only one but really good quality)
Although surrounded by a few blocks of public housing, it is located where the very wealthy lives. It is perhaps one of the few wet and dry markets and hawker centres where you can shop and eat alongside local and foreign wealthy and ordinary folks.
Good Teochew fish ball noodles stall. It seems like a lot of the stalls only operates in the morning. Afternoon not many stalls are open.
Most stalls shut on a Sunday afternoon (almost 4pm) but my Teh C Kosong was quite nice from the few drinks stall still open !
This is an old small HDB hawker and wet market along Farrer Road. There are about 20 food and drinks stalls with limited variety but very reasonable prices. Flanked by a few shops and even a Singapore Pools outlet at one end.
Wet market has the usual meat and vegetables stalls. One of the first that sold salmon fish due to large expatriate families living around there in past but more locals and helpers now doing the marketing.
There is no halal meat sold here. Generally prices of veggies slightly higher than neighbouring market. Hawker centre, halal food limited to Indian food only in the evening.
Nice and fresh fishball noodles!! Always patronising the same stall!!! Keep up the good work
Place is full of affordable good food. Many options to choose from. I mean there's a lot and you can stay here all day. Good thing it is quite ventilated.
Location (5/5)
Accessible via Bus & MRT
Parking available at nearby HDB MSCP
Food Range (5/5)
Wide range of traditional hawker fare with some interesting variants
Food Price (5/5)
Very affordable
Food Quality (4/5)
Food is great at the price points.
The Hananiese styled chicken cutlet from the western food stall Chick & Chops is a must try.
Chicken rice shop is also interesting here, beyond the typical offerings, they also double with cai fun selections and western fare.
Small hawker centre with so so variety... WTM in picture worth the wait..
Cleanliness could improve a bit but still OK to have a quick lunch in the hawker centre. A lot of small shops, laundry, bakery, hardware etc around the market
It has nice varieties of local food. The malay stalls here is ample, tastes nice and affordable. Popular among the expats living nearby the vicinity.
One of SG's best wet markets! Ah Chye veggie stall is my favorite. The bakery behind the wet market is wonderful as well!
Good food , clean area , not crowded at all , since it is at a lower deck quite cool where I could feel comfortable.
Plenty of local delights to choose from. Just make sure to come here before 2pm as some stalls closes early. Lovely place!
Average size market and food centre to serve the surrounding neighbourhood, pricing and quality are reasonable, parking is also convenient.
Some stalls are decent. Overall a nice place
Alot of fresh vegetables and meat sold here. There is a hawker centre right beside the market and is very clean.
its a good place for shopping and eating and you can let your kids run around in the playground, but most of the shops close in the afternoon
Ample parking space and tables with nice local food stalls. Most stalls are closed at night so come here for breakfast and lunch only.
One of the major hawker center in Singapore. Some nice food but quite busy at peak hours.
The authentic, kampong style feel! Enjoy while it lasts
The place for rice, noodles, pau and bee hoon.
I always come to this market for fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry n cooked food.
A handful of good food stalls in the morning and early afternoon. Not much to choose from after 2pm though.
Good chicken rice
The area is a pleasant surprise. Nice bread and food spread of local delights .
All thanks to HDB for providing cheap n affordable food fare in an otherwise increasingly expensive and afluent neighbourhood.
A good place to have lunch... The Bryani and the chicken rice is cheap and very good
Convenient for me as I live nearby. Have access to a convenience store, hawker centre, bakery, and other useful things.
Bicycle parking behind Blk 8
Quiet place with few food stalls open for business in the evening
Convenience of a wet market, hawker food centre and sundry shops in one location.
Combination of wet market and hawker center. Good selection of dry goods as well.
Great food, reasonable prices and fairly clean environment.
excellent fresh food
Nice and clean the empress market😊😊😊
A busy market place where you can find most of the things.
Some great food here!!!
Like the Indonesian food there
👍💝💕💞💓💘💖👍
I go it close
Fun
1. It reminds me of the local market atmosphere in Singapore.
2. Almost everything closes around 2 p.m. (I think it’s a breakfast or lunch business)
There is halal food.. Alhamdulillah.. And I prefer the Indonesian aunt's shop because it is cheap and delicious facing the playground.. White rice + chicken wings = 2 dollars
White rice + chicken thigh = 2.50 dollars
The shopping mall is located in the most prosperous and expensive shopping mall in Singapore. It contains boutique restaurants and other shops, and has a high publicity rate.
The market is clean, there are several levels, traditional markets and food courts. There are several halal food traders. Oh yes, when you're finished eating, return the tray to the place provided.
Now everywhere I go, it's quiet.
Everyone in Singapore cooperates.
Rules: Don't go out/buy food to take home to eat.
Great Wan Ton Mee, roti prata, briyani, chicken rice and fish soup available!!
The food is fresh and delicious, cheap, there are Vietnamese people selling pork here
I really like this Queen Market. There are many varieties of food, cheap and delicious.
