Reviews of Kovan Market & Food Centre
First time here and was introduced to the fried kway teow, satay and the flamed chicken wings.
To start the fried kway Teow tasted healthier than I expected. It wasn’t too salty. It wasn’t too sweet and it wasn’t too sweet. Just a nice blend of flavor as well as tenderness of the noodles. A delightful a great dish to start with.
On the satay, the meat was tender, easy to rip off from the stick. The peanut sauce was nice. It wasn’t over powering with the peanut taste not too oily as well. It was a nice mixture with the meat on my taste palette. highly recommended
Moving on to the chicken wing
Nicely grill no char area. Easy to rip off the meat from the bone. had a good time as I do not need to wrestle with the chicken wing to chew off the meat from the bone
And finally not forgetting the youji duck.
I ordered half a duck.
I am always happy with the quality of the duck meat
A great dish to compete a wonderful night of dinner 🙂
Best traditional prawn noodles soup ! Price is at $5.50 per bowl.. be prepare to queue on weekends .. does not feel thirsty after that .. highly recommend.
Alot of nice food here... just that the hawker is old/non-renovated type, super hot inside!
This is a popular neighborhood food centre that serves a wide variety of food and beverages.
The place is usually crowded during lunch and dinner hours. Prices of food are comparatively affordable than some other food centres.
I regularly come to this FC to buy dinner or lunch. Lots of choices and good food here.
This hawker is great for cheap food, has about 50 stalls, indian, malay, Chinese, dessert, western, rojak, kueh. as it is a hawker, cleanliness is good enough for hawker standards. There is a stall that sells 30 cents grass jelly and touhua drink. Coffee and teh for $1. The popular stalls are all with long q. They are not known for service, esp the popular stalls the aunties can be curt and short temper. Know what you want to order before your turn will help. Highly recommend!
There’s so many good food here to love!
The Chun Fu BCM was a favourite for many years. Family loves the various BCM stalls here for its different seasoning profile.
There are a few good wanton mee stalls here which my family has patronised for a long time. Otahs at Otah stall is delicious. Chicken rice is delicious, Malay food is delicious… totally spoilt for choice!
Went on 5-03-24 Kovan Market and Food hawker. This place have lots of food hawker store and wet market. Walk few rounds the hawker store and can't decided what to eat, finally choose this traditional economy breakfast noodles and sets of coconut rice. I choose the set 3 with addition spring roll. Basic set cost $3.00 and the additional spring roll cost $1.20, in total $4.20 and a kopi O $1.10
Always my favorite market to buy fresh produce and enjoy yummy local food. However the hawker centre has become very hot and humid due to the fencing up of car park for
Construction of HDB flats. Is going to be worst if construction commence 😵💫
This food center really have great food.. I tried the Fa Ji Dessert for the mixed fruit ice jelly and was blown away by the generous serving of jelly and mix fruit with different syrup. The Kovan rojak is another not to be miss and the prawn paste sauce is thick and not sweet, the ingredients serving for $4 is sufficient for 1 pax. There are other interesting stall too and surely will come back to try more in this food center.
Tried the Hainanese chicken rice and was average.
Chuan Heng cooked food
Had a plate of chee cheong fun with yam cake and putu mayiam. This pm seldom you see sold by chinese. Very fluffy and fresh. Doesn't have soury or bittery taste. Even the coconut and sugar are fresh. The elderly lady is friendly and chatty. That's slow down her work and eventually the long queue.
Good variety choice of food such as porridge(hard to locate in other food court, nowadays very less porride store), wanton Noodle, nasi lemak(Chinese, malay style), bean curd, sugar cane drink, prata, Noodle Soup and many more.
Open air seating with good fan ventilation.
It's crowded during peak hours. With the new HDB coming soon, I don't think enough seating space in coming future.
Environment is clean.
Reasonable food price.
I love to come here because there are plenty of parking space and a lot of amenities here.. clinic, dental clinic, fruits, mcdonald, and heartland mall..
I tried stall #01-24 beef noodle.. the soup was so so only..the beef aroma not enough strong... but the amount of slice beef was good.. $5 SGD for smallest...
Love the seating here..
Lots of cheap and good food. The hawker is spacious too.
Was super crowded on a Sunday morning, barely any space to navigate a stroller. Food-wise, can give the carrot cake a try. Good char but the kueh itself is run-of-the-mill. Fa Ji bcm was well-recommended and came with generous ingredients. Not my preferred style though, I like more vinegar and noodles with more bite.
What I may return for is the soya milk at 50 CENTS!!! We were confused when the auntie refused the two $2 notes we handed her - she explained "50 cents, we steady". Pair this with the youtiao from Delisnacks (and not Kim Soon - somehow the 3 buns we got there were not fresh and overly dense).
Decided to travel from west to Kovan and try this well recommended stall.
Long queue even at 9am. Owner was polite despite many customers.
Ordered longtong for $3 with lots of ingredients and gravy was smooth.
Fresh produces are fresh and good at their wet market. One thing the queue sometime can be quite long for favorite stores. One of my favorite store in the market is the soon kueh. Queue normally about 10-15 minutes but it was worth it.
There are other good food around as well. I tried the yong tau Fu fried one, it was good, seems to be new store since I didn't see it the last time.
The arrangements on entrance is a bit miss. I entered from the parking area and didn't see the trace together. It was there but I missed it because I was a bit rush because of the rain. The person which is the ambassador for self entry called me I thought was just normal person since she was sitting down, I ignored her but I noticed that I have missed something.
From the wet store, price are ok compared to online, but the vegetables seems to be more expensive quite a lot compared to other market, for example Sengkang Vegetable store, they are the cheapest and longest queue I have ever been.
One of the best hawker in Sg! Huge variety of food and most of them are really good. Worth the queue! Especially carrot cake, porridge, chicken wings, kway chap.
#01-42 Yong Hua Coffee, my default eggs & toast breakfast set place in the region. Not many comparable to the deliciously thin & crispy toast, not to mention the perfectly done half boiled eggs.
Do check out the honey roasted pork and juicy roasted duck at “Bedok Cooked Food” stall.
New stall April 2022, Tried their soya bean curd, silky smooth, nice.
New stall June 2022, handmade fishball stall replacing old prawn noodles stall
Open air food centre with varieties of food catering to different needs.
Wanted to eat the duck rice/kway chup today but it was closed today. Not sure if they close on Wednesdays.
Ended eating the soon kway next stall
The queue was never ending and most people take away. I bought 2 soon kway and 1 png kway. I like the size. It suits me cause I try to eat lesser, eat enough. Costs $3
The soon kway skin was v thin and kind of transparent. Not rubbery at all.
Verdict: was good !
Typical hawker centre . The recommend to come in the morning to experience the local breakfast!
Don’t buy the long queue Hainanese curry mixed vegetables rice stall. Fake sweet sour fish. This is what it looks like when opened.
Kovan's best fishball noodles. Always long q. Laksa is also very good. Chilli paste is good.
Taste quite good with most stalls are opened.
Owner does not allow ta pao without first pan frying the kueh. It’s kind of ridiculous and illogical. The food was good, but I will not come back ever as the owners are rude and setting unreasonable rules.
A lot of choices and there are all great!
吃吃喝喝。A lot of choices to choose from. Limited Seats for now... Be patient... Enjoy the foods & drinks...
Really a good place to eat every dish in one place ! Don’t mind the 🔥or smell like one.
Lots of food options. The usual parking lots is gone and you have to circle around to park elsewhere
I go there for soya bean milk -$0.30-$0.50 per cup
Plenty of choices and parking lots here.Very convenience.
You can find and get almost everything here.
Ultimate malay food cravings satisfier... The nasi ambeng with beef is the superstar 😋😍
Nice place to have lunch with lots of local varieties foods to choose for.
Quite a few famous stalls but this place is really super crowded. As such the eating experience here may not be too good and the waiting time in queuing may not be worth it afterall.
Great mix of food. Got nice Hokkien mee, economical rice, soon Kueh, Tiong Bahru fish ball, curry chicken noodle, fish all noodles, nasi lemak,
The Best White Bihun and Seafood. Very2 Recommended
This Hawker Centre is located within walking distance from Kovan MRT Station.
Recommend to try the minced pork noodles (both the 2 stalls side by side). The muslim stores (both). You can find the cheapest soya milk and delicious sugar cane drink here.
Good selection of local hawker food and quality and taste is good. Price have all increased due to increased in GST but some hawkers are profiteering from it by charging a lot more than the 1% increase in GST. Quality and portion remains the same.
Teochew fish ball noodles is good, always long line. Porridge is not good and portion small. Pontian Noodles, Fried Hokkien Noodles and Soya bean is good. Chicken rice Uncle scratch here and there then chop chicken. Also portion small and high price.
Food is cheap and good. However the chicken wing is not thoroughly cooked. Bought more than 2 times still undercooked as you can see the meat's blood oozing out. Quite a disgusting sight. 😕
I love the coffee there. Several stalls sell nice coffee and competition is keen. So no choice but have to upkeep standards.
The hawkers Centre have nice food too. Place a bit dirty though.
used to have good food at reasonable price, however, due to the crowd, all the food price is now much higher than most of the hawker center.
imagine mixed veg rice with veg each is 80c, meat is 150 and mind you , the rice is 80c. Probably the most expensive in the whole of singapore.
worst of all, although the crowd is almost non-stop from early morning till about 9pm, one could imagine the volume of business the crowd had brought to the hawkers. however, the nos of cleaners is miserable resulting piling of used utensils and crockery on most of the tables.
if you could bear with the soil plate and utensil and afford the higher price, you are unlikely to be dis-appointed with the quality of food.
Food is good & cheap, but of course it's crowded. Lots to choose from & the hawkers are innovating regularly to compete. Look at the back for seats. Of course the ambience is typical hawker center, so don't expect restaurant space. A classic hawker center - cheaper than most food court prices & better quality.
Long q carrot cake. Taste good.
Good place for eating out. A few popular stalls, always with long queues throughout the days. Near to nursery, so if planning to buy potted plants or soil can have a meal here too.
Generally, the place has multiple choices of stores and food to choose from. However, i would encourage you guys who are new to the place to have a walk about and survey the stores before deciding your choice; don't pay a high price and land up with food that doesn't live up to expectation! Long queues doesn't equate to tasty food.. be wary..
One of my must-have is mee siam from this food centre. The gravy is a gem.
My kids love the Tong Fong Fatt chicken rice here. We would usu order a whole chicken. The only down side is the chicken is a bit too small for my 2 little meat eaters. 😅 The rice is full of fragrant and tasty.
We also love the white beehoon. Their soup is superb. Meat and fish very tender and 入味. Have been patronizing their stall (facing the Heartland Mall) many yrs already. However, we found that their ingredients getting lesser and lesser even after we pay more to add more ingredients.
Recently renovated. Big hawker food centre with plenty of choices. Yummy food... Recommend the prawn noodle soup, wanton mee, white bee hoon. Wet market next door with fresh meat, fish and vegetables. Etc
Food is alright, the cashier's attitude can be better! and do not go if it is crowded, you will not be attended well or the food can be below par quality too.. Better to go when it is peaceful and calm.. for the sake of the cashier, not for the customer
A friend just got her phone stolen around one of the pop up stalls. CCTV cameras on and nothing can b done.Security guy in the mall was very helpful though. 10 years living in this neighbourhood, this is disappointing. This place is very laid back and nice though.
Good hawker store
- fried carrot cake (closer to market)
- fried you tiao (closer to heartland mall)
- chicken rice (closer to heartland mall)
- fishball bcm noodle (all 3 close to each other are good)
Market
- damn horrible Vege stalls. Overpriced.
- pork ok pricing.
Kovan Hawker centre is one of the best and cleanest hawker centres in Singapore selling a wide variety of yummy and reasonably priced food. It is just next to Kovan MRT. The boneless chicken rice is so good and many more famous stalls. This is a great location. So worth to visit.
Sizable Hawker Centre with above average hawker fare. One of my favourite place for lunch.... Love d Indonesian Assam Fish.
Good selection of local food.
Good food, but maintaining the place has been shoddy recently. There is a carpark at the back, but weekends and meal times means there will be chaos trying to find a lot. Really cramped roads too.
Look for Bedok Roast Duck store in the middle aisle near a famous BCM store too (that takes up 2 store space). Absolutely love the roast duck and roast meat here! Ran by a senior couple - be prepared to queue at lunch time!
another to note : fish soup store at the end (nearer to heartland mall side) that is between a fruit juice and the scissors cut curry rice stall.
Lots of selections of local food, long queues over weekend on some better stalls. Prices relatively remain unchanged for quite a few years, but the ingredients had decreased.
One of the nicer place for breakfast. Went there for nasi lemak, mee rebus or mee siam. Chinese hawker, i can't review cus never eat but by looking at the crowd, maybe they do serve nice food.
One of my favourite Hawker Centre in the North. One can find good food reasonably priced here.
I like the place as there are many stalls selling rice and noodles and dessert. Fruits juices sugarcane drink are available. You tiao and kueh can be found.
Lots of hawker stalls selling wide choices of Singapore's multiracial hawker fares. Must try the Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Duck Rice, Ku Chai Kueh, Nasi Lemak, Pontian Noodles etc etc
Usually very nice Muslim Foods from this stall. Today my mee siam noodles a bit hard otherwise very nice.
Hawker food here are good. But it's an hawker centre. Don't expect to be as clean as a restaurant. I recommend the laksa store here definitely
Great variety of local foods at low prices. After the makan, you can visit the flower nurseries, especially for seasonal festival flowers.
Not sure why from usual nasi campur $5.50 became $7☠️. Food is still good though
There is a variety of food there to choose from, but the hygiene there is not that good ( even though there is a tray return shelves, the cleaner did not even clear the trays on it nor making space on the shelves so more people can put their trays on it.)
What's not to like about this place? Easy to park, loads of public transport, near Heartland Mall and great food all round
nice food. queue are generally long especially for a couple of shops like the wantan noodle store
Loads of food varieties at low prices, although the ventilation is not good. You'd be stewing in smoke and food smells the moment you step in.
There are many food courts and basha shops at No. 209 Kovan, and there are also many delicious things. I prefer the mutton soup of "Jindingxiang". Although it is a bit expensive at 10-15 yuan, the taste of the soup and the mutton are both good👍. I also like the Huangpu bean curd. There are people queuing up at many stalls, which shows that the food here is very attractive and there are many repeat customers. The only drawback is that the table tops are not cleaned promptly and it is a bit stuffy inside.
Next to the food court is Basa, where there are all kinds of vegetables, fruits, and fresh food. Therefore, the entire area is usually crowded and very lively.
There is also a 24-hour McDonald's next to it, which is really a good place for the people around.
Because there are many businesses here, although there are several open-air parking lots, they are usually full, so I usually park in the parking lot of the rental house next to it.
Yum yum 😋
The normally bustling Kovan Food Center was deserted today as everyone was celebrating the Chinese New Year. Birds gathered on the empty dining table. Fortunately, the Malay compatriots are open for business so they don't go home with an empty stomach.
The market sells everything from meat, vegetables, chicken, fish to clothes and shoes at reasonable prices. It is crowded and the food is all available. Bean curd water, vegetables, rice, and juices are all very reasonable. The shopping center is also worth a visit sometimes. Good harvest
Fat Kee Desserts are delicious
We have Tangchengfang Metro Station and you can get to this place by taking the subway. It is also a shopping mall. There are all kinds of dead goods in the shopping mall. It is also a large hawker center. The environment here is also very good and various. There are all kinds of accessories and it is very economical. There is also a wireless network in the small class center. Tourists can also call all over the world for free. You can also go to the mainland next to the Sengkang Hawker Center. It is the old soldier's road and you can go to the airport.
Directly in front of the air-conditioned shopping center you will find a national market with a wide variety of food, everything related to the household and adjacent to it is a food mall where you can get to know the varied national cuisine starting from $3.00....
Food from all districts in Singapore is gathered here, with diverse choices.
