Reviews of Telok Blangah Food Centre
Great Food👍🏻 Must have patience to Quene.
If you dont like fury friends around, you may skip here... Seen alot of pet owners with Pets eating in Hawker...
Smallish place but houses some great local food
Nice porridge and chicken served at Tiong Bahru Wah Yuen Porridge. Only open on weekends, please note
The tea at 七时年代 was good
Try the Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken hor fun
As usual the prawn noodles is a crowd favourite 👍.... they’ve been around >20 years!
You can find one of the best fried carrot cake here!
Hong Ji wanton mee is popular. I would prefer my noodles to be less over cooked though. It’s still nice and value for money
LABRADOR Malay food stall’s lontong was good although the tau kwa was hard
Delicious bryani rice at Sabeen Sara! Mutton was soft and basmati rice was light and fluffy. The prata dough was freshly handmade at the stall!
Yanan ban mian was surprisingly nice especially with the fresh fried fish.
Relatively small hawker center with a few popular stalls that has long queues.
First time here and went with those that had queues which were the roasted meat stall and carrot cake. Noodles were good but I won’t say that the meat was outstanding, perhaps they didn’t give me the good cuts as most were too meaty and lack the fatty balance. I ordered the portion with 3 types of meat which cost $8. Carrot cake was particularly good, has a nice char and only cost $2.50 per packet. Can’t mix so went with 2 portions. Lastly, the coffee at the entrance of the hawker is worth noting. Enjoyed the coffee and cheap at $1.20. Kaya toast wasn’t that great.
Overall a pleasant experience but nothing I would travel down for.
The black carrot cake is kind of sweet for me. The white one tastes good thuo. Other stalls like the Prawn noodle, Char siew noodle and seafood Hor fun worth trying too. After 3pm all shop will be closed...
No a very big hawker centre but enough good mix of local food.
Saw a snaking queue for Fried Carrot Cake but decided to try a $3 Mee Pok Noodle stall and another Roti Prata instead!
Market is just next to the hawker centre
Easy to find parking in the nearby Multi Storey Carpark!
The fish cake from the “Tian Cheng Fish Ball Noodle & Laksa” at Telok Blangah Food Centre is outstanding!
This corner stall attracts a line of 10 people when I visited on 28 Jan 2023. Quite a long wait as stall holders prepared each bowl with care, chopping fish cake into thin slices and ensuring noodle are cooked to perfection.
It's not a large hawker so food selection is only OK. Prices here are reasonable. Cleanliness is alright but there are lots of birds that pick on unattended food so beware. Tried the wanton mee from the corner stall with celebrity photos and lor mee. I wouldn't recommend the wanton mee as it tastes pretty bland and portion is small. The lor mee on the other hand is not bad and wortha try.
A rather small hawker center, Telok Blangah Food Centre does have its own crowd from the blocks of HDB surrounding the market.
For us, nothing really stands out to call this hawker center a destination although Sabeen Sara Roti Prata seems to have a huge following where a 20-30min queue is normal in the mornings.
Though small, this place bustles with activity. The food choices here are plentiful, with the noodle stalls being relatively more popular. If you are a fan of noodles, be prepared for a wait! The drinks here are still quite cheap, with a sugarcane drink costing below $1.50. ( A rare sight in food centres nowadays. ) We tried a popular noodle stall, but the food was only slightly above average, so I wouldn’t say its totally worth the wait. All in all, this place is still a nice place to visit, so do come here for breakfast if you are in the vicinity!
Come before lunch time if not queue till crazy. Evening no need come. Some of the nice store hainanese curry rice. Heng nasi lemak. Fishball noodle. 3 bakes chee chong fun is best. The forever long queue carrot cake. Most store close 2 day or don't open on weekend.
Revisit on 14-12-2018 (friday) for lunch. The carrot cake not bad, the HK oil chicken noodle also good!!
Great Fishball noodles from Tian Cheng. - long q but simply worth it. Lots of seating places.
Had soy sauce chicken rice noodle ($4.50) for breakfast, was ok.
A market that have many all time favorites, fried carrot cakes, porridge (check opening hours), prawn noodles (3,4 shut the door) wanton noodles.
Very crispy and delicious meat and the noodles taste great.
Great food all around. Even those with no queues are pretty all right; they probably just arent as established in the hawker centre but the food's still yummy!
The SGD $3.50 or $4.00 for prawn noodle at this time of Singapore is a great bargain.
The husband and wife is the soul behind their 'award winning prawn noodle' based on my personal review.
One should come and view their preparation work in terms of chilli sauce, prawn head separation and etc, they did all on their own when they finished selling for the day and when they are supposed to relax on their only 1 off day a week.
Both are getting old and no sight of their children to pick up their skills, I should appreciate to buy more often from them before they permanently retired in future.
Please do not ask me to learn from them as I know myself that I cannot bear to spend more than 12 hours each day in the stall to prep and sell in hawker centre - Yes, I am true blue singaporean
can always queue to eat but cannot force myself to do what hawkers do
It has a fair variety of food. I love the Roti Prata there, as well as the carrot cake, vegetarian noodle and beehoon store.
Yanan Handmade Noodle stall is very nice! Must try!
A neighbourhood market. A few great stalls but not all good stalls are great. My number 1 store is the Ban Mian store. Next is the Malay rice and mee Siam stall. Hmm.. actually that’s all. People said the Fried carrot cake (Chye Tao kway) is great, but only slightly above average from my standpoint. I love CTK so I am very confident about my judgement on CTK (the best is still in Serangoon Gardens) and at Jalan Tua Kong near Siglap.
Place is quite clean. Hong Ji Mian Shi Jia wanton mee was quite good and you can also get a small bowl of tau huay for just 80cts. Prices here are generally quite reasonable as compared with other food centres. Only problem here would be the parking.
Good halal tasting fd like appom prata
Highly recommended Yanan Ban Mian Noodle stall, run by ex-chef.
Their dumplings are like biscuits,
their soup base were own brewing, fish are so fresh.. meatballs are so tender. Their operating hours normally end by 7pm.
Is a good place for peaceful dinner.
Nice briyani there many other nice food there too. The atmosphere is quite hot there as in many people. Spotted some dirt tables only but cleaners are doing a good job
Been here a couple of time trying out authentic and rustic flavours. #heritagefood
Happy bright Sunday morning with happy hungry customers, delighted at the variety of food offerings.
We had cai tau kueh (fried carrot cake) - white version and black versions. Both are the only offerings this stall has and its normal for it to have snaking queues. That says it all. A few stalls away is a coffee stall. The coffee (we had the small cup) was a nice local ground coffee. Thanks all.
The usual wanting noodle I eat standard drop
Decent food court in a neighborhood. Wanton noodle is quite popular
Lor mee at the hainanese curry rice stall is super nice! So flavourful and on point! There on Sunday afternoon and most of the stalls were closed or closing. Guess they mostly sell morning.
Very affordable pricing.
Dumplings going at $2.
Drinks at very reasonable price
Got quite a number of good food stalls in this market. The wanton mee and mee pok always have long queue and the food is very nice, especially the wanton mee. The reason i didn't give this hawker market 5 stars is because most of the stalls never open for dinner
A few popular stalls here, i.e. wontan noodles, roast pork, fried carrot cake and also sliced fish soups. Worth exploring but most stalls only operate till late afternoon.
Not much food for sale once you reach there around noon. Won't recommend to eat there. Alot of drinks stalls though.
The carrot cake shop is good. The aunty is very kind and offer discounted price to people of disability.
Alot of good food closed down :(
Delicious mee goreng at Kassim Stall.
For a hawket centre, its v well ventilated so its not too hot.
There is a good selection of delicious food - wantan mee, roasted meat, hainanese curry rice, carrot cake.
Ample parking lots. For non drivers, it could be a bit of walk.
Nice selection of Singaporean fare!
The roasted meat stall -- fantastic siew yok (roasted pork) and roasted duck (the thigh is to die for!)!
Do try the fried carrot cake stall too, simply amazing!
Clean and spacious hawker centre but not many stalls. If you have time, try queueing for the wanton mee or chai tow kueh. Ginger tea from the Indian coffee stall is also really good.
Small hawker center as compared to the other offerings in Singapore, however there is much good food to be had here. You will be disappointed if you come at night as most stalls would be closed by then. It is most busy during breakfast (you will see tons of hikers/cyclists who make this a pit stop to re-fuel their tummies before continuing their adventures)
Must tries for me are the
Wanton Mee
Chicken Feet Mee (same stall as the wanton mee)
Roast Mee stall
Roti Prata
Char Kuay Teow
This char siew noodles is very delicious. Char siew is succulent & tender with no burn taste. The noodles is done with umani....can't get enough of it.
All the Indian stalls serve very nice food. Each havingbtheir own speciality. One for prata n briyani. One for putu mayam n tosei. And the other 2 for their mee goreng!
Cheap price
Alot variety of food
Plenty of seats available (Thanks to the speedy cleaners, save them some trouble by returning ur own trays! Be kind)
Recommend cai fan store. (2 vege + 1 meat cost $2 instead of $2.70 when presented concession or ntuc card during payment)
Not amazing variety but the duck noodles were good. Hainnese chicken rice is average, a bit chewy. It's a little run down and dirty.
Pleasant old school food centre. It is nicely spaced out and well ventilated. The estate has a nice airy feel with old trees and open spaces.
Great local fare. Hainanese curry rice, love the fried pork chop and thick curry gravvy. Chicken and mutton Briyani. Char Siew Wanton mee. Thumbs up!
Breezy place and not too crowded during lunch. Heard the black carrot is good although I didn't try it today. Nice cozy place.
The mutton biryani is fantastic n lords queue's during lunch hours. Chicken rice and Minch pork n fish all stalls s are gd
Good place for lunch.. but must be early.. nothing much here after lunch hour
Tiong Bahru Porridge is good. Carrot cake is good but long queue. CrayFish Horfun was originally from Blk 65. Red Swallow Desert is AWESOME!
Not many stalls open here regularly. Can try their hainanese curry rice and wanton noodle( just look for the longest queue one)
Vermicelli fish soup 🍜 just nice.
Great location. Variety of foods. Parking is an issue as there is a small carpark. But you can find parking at the HDB next to the food centre.
Perfect place for hawker food. Reasonable too.
good wanton noodle
long queue
Very nice!!!SABEEN SARA, prata and Briyani good taste in Singapore cheaper price in Singapore. Prata master, very nice man good person.
Good place for breakfast and lunch and probably one of the few hawker centres that you can find a good cup of local black coffee at $0.60.
Cheap and good food. The famous wanton mee stall serves with very bad attitude. Others stalls are ok.
After reopen from Reno, not more changes other modifications to ceiling. A few new stalls selling food replace those empty stalls
If u are in the neighbourhood, u cant go wrong with the prawn fishball noodle, ban mian, carrot cake and wan ton mee.
Come here for their carrot cakes! It's very popular, and sells out by the afternoon between 12 to 1pm.
Great Carrot Cake that opens super early in the morning like 5am plus plus. Even tabao is delicious as well
Nice prawn noodle stall in the hawker centre. Voted one of the top prawn noodle stall in singapore.
Nice foods and no problem with parking lots.
Good Nasi Biryani rice.
Good fried carrot cake
Good wanton noodles
Good roast pork rice
I like the curry rice #01-03
Great service for our regular breakfast set from 70's Coffee Stall. Thank you
Nice cozy hawker centre with lots of fans to circulate the air and keep the place cool. My favourite is the wanton new.
There are lot of crowded during lunch time and great variety of food.
Cheap and good food for non fussy eaters
Sabeen sara #01-07. Best prata. Highly recomended. Long queue everyday.
Clean spacious but very crowded during peak periods.
Always comes here for the roast meat/ congee/ fried carrot cake/ mee goreng
Food at excellent prices. Must go. Definitely.
I came to Singapore on a late-night flight from Kansai International Airport, and a Singaporean friend suggested that I skip the in-flight breakfast and have breakfast there instead. Since there are so many different restaurants, it was difficult to choose, but I went to Hong Ji Mian Jia, which was recommended by a friend, and ate wonton noodles. It was "Hao Qi". I regretted it so much that I should have made it bigger.
Recommended stalls
1) coffee stall - 1970s
2) prawn noodle - Chengfa
3) fishball noodle - 2 stalls
4) Freshly fried fried dough sticks
5) Roast pork wonton noodles with black soup
Prices are reasonable in the city center compared to the new estate.
Some of the food in this hawker center are good, but personal tastes are different. You can try it!
lots of menu... cheap, clean place... suitable for those looking for breakfast or lunch
Busy in the morning, crowded, plenty of food choices, reasonably priced
OK neighborhood hawker center
The food is delicious, not bad o.k.
Ok la
