Reviews of Former Bukit Timah Railway Station
We live not far away so have seen the evolution of the railway station from derelict station to manicured tourist station, including a washroom, a cafe and lots of benches.
I was happy walking the rail corridor when it was deserted, when it got crowded during the pandemic and now when it's a weekend destination.
Not a destination in it's own right but good as part of the railway corridor walking experience.
Fr cantonment road 12km cycling to reach here. Full of green along the the way. Pavement can be bouncy, many walkers & runners so ride carefully & not too fast. This plc is a pit stop before heading further north to kranji. Shall explore the newly open stretch soon.
The old railway station was adorned with newer paints, bringing about brilliant colours while keeping its heritage design. This renovation provides new sightseeing for the locals as well as tourists. Joggers and cyclists would appreciate this hotspot along the Green Corridor! It is dark around the building, and it is advisable to be in groups past midnight! The view at night was remarkably spectacular!
Impromptu decision to visit and I'm glad we did before the rains came. Enjoyed the history display, the truss bridge, and just walking along a part of the corridor. Lots of greenery and some shading were welcome too.
A good exploration for beginners. Nice view of untouched forested areas which u can hardly see around Singapore. Just be prepared for flies / insects 😅 don't disturb nor try to feed any roaming monkeys, just watch from far & u will be fine 😅 Also, do wear appropriately - exercise outfit will be 👍
This place is gorgeous and is a historical landmark in Singapore that served as a station between Singapore and Malaysia during the colonial era.
The Railway Corridor in Bukit Timah features the conserved and iconic Bukit Timah Railway Station (dating back to the early 20th century that runs along the former KTM railway tracks), which serves as a nice community space.
The corridor also offers an urban trail, providing a unique and scenic space for outdoor activities.
There is also the conserved former staff quarters that repurposed to a nice cafe within the vicinity.
Nature lovers?. You should go and visit this very nice and quiet place.
Man this place was so nice closer to the sunset, it's almost like a scene from a romcom. In fact, there were some influenzas taking photos there as though the train was gonna run them over. I guess it was a different type of romcom. I wouldn't walk this place alone at night, it's just an entire other genre waiting to happen.
The runners also come around about this time, so watch out you don't get bulldozed by them along the way, cos they're all pretty fit. There are weird birds here that's almost kookaburra-like, that I forgot for a second that I wasn't in my native Western Australia. But my goodness it's sickeningly pretty here and just such a contrast from the downtown hustle and bustle.
It's a pity, it seems under renovation so we could not see inside. The walk is interesting and walking in on the railway was a good experience for my daughter. We can feel that time has passes since it has been last used. Then there is a pathway with railway a bit farther and inside the forest. Unfortunately it rained in the morning and the path was muddy. It was a bit dangerous for my daughter and we slipped and got all dirty.
The path in the forest is good if you're not afraid of getting dirty and walk on the mud like Peppa Pig family :-)
Good to see a histrical site being preserved !
Easily access from King Albert Station.
A very easy walking path, very sutable for kids and elderly but do beware of some "crazy" cyclist.
Nice greenish / flowery path all the way but do put on sun block as there are no "shelter" along a certain portion of the path.
On one side of the path is a small fresh water stream where you could find fishes, drangon flies, buterflies flying around.
You could start from the entrance via King Albert Station, visit the "Bukit Timah Station" site and hit ahead all the way till the Rail Mall for rest and food.
Finally do hope to see the current old station with the signalling / level control room (untouch) could be converted or upgraded into a cafe/souvenior/meseum that at the same time act as a teaching aids.
If you wanna go to the past, enjoying nature and having a slow living for awhile, just come here. Not too much attraction but it will boost ypur positivity and recharge your energy before you get busy again. Just enjoy and have a good, relax quality time
Upgraded station and its restored facilities at open again to the public from first July 2022. There are various facilities such as toilet facilities, and even a cafe available for public to use. Makes the place more user friendly and accessible. Nearest parking for cars is a short walk away. This is probably the only downside when accessing this location.
Love the reconstructed railway station. So quaint and great for photo taking. Typically crowded in weekends, tranquil during weekdays morning and evening. No street lamps along the trail so it is pitch black at night. Quite a lot of cyclists.
Bridge closed up, left short raiway track only. Under construction, target to complete Heritage gallery @2022. No entry for cars no parking surrounding. if driving. need to park opposite Shopping mall next to Mrt stn. Convenience too.
Nice little quaint cottage - serving aromatic coffee , cold beer and fragrant snack. An adaptive use of the old train quarter for staff. Now a place for you to quench thirst and rest…….
It is a good place to walk around and take photos. Nearest mrt is king albert station.
good to spend evenings here when it’s much cooler! quite interesting seeing the old railway tracks too. there’s also a cafe in the area for some bites/drinks!
We visited the Newly Reopened Bukit Timah Railway Station after our walk at Hindhede Quarry and Chestnut Park. The place was beautiful surrounded by greenery and we also visited the Cafe there too. Was surprised the cafe was buzzing with people with a full house diners.
I enjoy and learn how Singapore railway stablish. This is a historical place where you can also enjoy biking, walking, and jogging around the area.
The place will probably be more interesting once they complete the conservation work on the railway station. Just 80 metres down from the station towards Bukit Timah Hill is the black iron Bridge 1871 that’s a notable landmark along Bukit Timah Road.
Nice scenic paved trail with some historical pitstops, abundant of lush greens and fresh air, good for walk, run or cycle. Bring mosquito repellant.
Nice scenery and good for jogging.
If you love walking in greenery but don't really like getting dirty, then this place is for you. The main path youu will walk on is paved but on your left and right are trees and landscape.
I had a very enjoyable time walking here. Although, there is no shade so make sure to bring cap, wear sunblock, and bring water to hydrate.
The green corridor or the rail corridor or the Bukit Timah railway station are all link together. Great place for cycling except for a few spot still gravel pavement and pothole. Hopefully NParks can do something to these spots which are accidents prone for cyclist. Overall a good place to relax hiking with greenery and fresh cooling air at certain timing. Recommended
It’s great for children to walk around on the train tracks that used to be part of the KTM route. The old station is now being cordoned off for conservation works and this is also part of the green corridor. This railway station was in between the Tanjong Pagar railway station and the Woodlands checkpoint railway station. It was a crossing loop station and signaling house.
There are people around the tracks but everybody is very conscientious about safe distancing and you won’t feel that it is too crowded.
The place is wonderful for families bringing their children out to see the little piece of Singapore history, and it’s a mere 5-10mins walk from the KAP complex. Families with children, do look out for cyclists as some do not really practice mindfulness on the shared paths. You will definitely be able to get a lot of Insta-worthy shots at this little piece of Singapore history.
It's finally open after years? of restoration. The old KTM railway track has turned into a Greenway for joggers and cyclists and this is a great place to stop and have a rest. There's a cafe called 1932 Story which occupies the railway master's quarters and a lovely herb garden. Glad they retained almost all of the old architectural features of the buildings.
Glad that the government keep this memorial place so that the next generation will remember the old days with this train station.
The place is nice decorated and is a good place for relax and jogging and promote healthy lifestyle.
Each path is connected together to 3 MRT stations. Wow! Here's a note: Walk: 125 Tracks: 63 and... trail 35. It's worse to see like a Truss Bridge. There's another bridge next to it. Do not climb on that bridge it will not lead you to the Truss Bridge. Directions: Go straight turn left then you'll sure I mean, probably see a small-little-bridge crossing over a river. (It's not the Truss Bridge!) So the Truss Bridge. Turn left again. Go straight to a sign. Then, there. The Truss Bridge. Then, you'll probably see a track to the other side of the Truss Bridge. The Truss Bridge. The track leads you to the other side of the Truss Bridge. Thanks!
Went to visited the highly raved railway tracks on a weekday. Not much people which was good for photo taking. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us too. We walked the central section from King Albert to hillview, quite amazed at how the paths are connected.
Nice place to do exercise
Great to see this now abandoned old world charm railway station and a bit of the old tracks. Its also the start of the Green Corridor South (Rail Corridor) walk which ends at Jln Kilang Barat (8.5 km). The northern section, from the station across the old railway bridge to the Rail Mall is however closed at this point in time for upgrading
Beyond the skyscraper-filled concrete jungle, there’s a plethora of flora and fauna thriving in our mother land - Singapore
lots of people for sure.
Now there is a new F&B eatery and public toilets available.
Well conserved I would say.
Nice wildflowers and photo taking spot with historical trains
It’s a nice way to preserve some part of Singapore’s heritage. This area is probably the nicest part of the corridor in terms of picture moment.
If you like to jog, walk just go to this place while u in singapore..i finish 9km run its good things..all green, monkey, squirell, people dogwalking etc makes me happy..
Nice place to grab a drink and quick meal.
Like this place.
It’s our first time here so my husband and I ordered long black coffee and some food - 😆 I was engrossed in eating that i forgot to snap a picture. Anyway, I soooo love the environment. It feel so cosy..♥️♥️🎊🎊🎊🎊
Quite boring, best to choose the entry point near to Bukit timah. Hot too, bring umbrella.
Revamped railway and everything looks so new and clean. There are fresh new graffiti on the way to Tanjong Pagar. 🎨
Love the smoother pavement ; widen walking and cycling path as well as the rail track has less loose rocks and stones; enabling it to be an inclusive tracks for all of us!
Quite scenic, nothing too much to do, just a little checkpoint
Great trekking route and family outings if weather permits. Railway history of Singapore need to conserve.
It's alright, not a great tourist attraction but decent for night walks and sight seeing.
Also.. Bring a mosquito repellent!
After sunset, hits hard.
Look at the photos and you’ll spend time to visit there surely🥳 we walked in from jelita towards bukit timah😊
We are walking in the path that built by people from the past. What a nice place to hike🚶♂️ 🚶♀️
Lovingly and charmingly done up. NParks did a good job. Well done.
A nice place for a walk with the family, light exercising. The unique feeling is beyond words can describe. Feels like you are abroad somewhere and yet you are actually in singapore. Go, enjoy nature and have a feel!
Very nice walk around the area. It's super cool to see the cars passing by while on the bridge.
Makes you nostalgic.... the walking tracks are being renovated while the station has been left untouched.
Wonderful walk to clementi forest. Green corridor trail is a nice spot to have your long hiking journey.
Great place to visit for some nostalgia and for the new generation of kids to learn some history. It's super crowded on weekends though
Forest and vintage railway station are beautiful
Great place for green... But sad that no light after dark...
Excellent starting point to start your greeen corridors walk, 10km going south to Outram, Maxwell MRT TEL line. Many rest stop, a few hut and construction of resting chair completed on Feb2024, in particular last 3 km got many chair to rest. Going north not advisable yet as the full track not ready yet till Dec2025, furthermore, not much tree, so you walk under the direction sun. Not much scenery on north path.
Very clean and nicely renovated with lots of seating area at the side for elderly to rest.
Beautiful jungle forest around it. My favorite part out of all of Singapore bike trails.
One of the last historical place in Singapore. Definitely worth to go there
They really did up this place so nicely. I was lucky that the weather was perfect that day.
In fact in 2 days we walk from different directions to reach here. 1st day we started from King Albert mrt to Buona Vista mrt n 2nd day we walked from Bukit Timah Beauty World Centre to King Albert Station. Both routes are SO FUN
Very rustic yet easily accessible walking trail
Too crowded in weekend!
Station is renovating and there are many cyclists who don’t follow the rules.
Not so attractive place to me..
Scenic, good for phototaking and to reminisce how the past railway stations are like. No tickets needed. This is a Railway Corridor, considered a popular nature trail.
Great to see a historical site like this in Singapore
A good place to hike.
A short walk at the Railway Corridor or Bukit Timah Old Railway Station before popping over to a friend's house for catch up and gathering. The weather was nice that day and not so crowded as it was a weekday early evening.
Simple rustic and perfect for outing
Great place for a weekend bicycle ride.
You can ride from kranji all the way to bukit timah railway station wia rail corridor.
Might be tricky for a road bike. Folding bikes and mountain bikes are fine.
Really charming heritage station with tiny carriages - all restored and renewed. And a perfect morning walk through the forest.
A very nice walk on the newly build pathway. No more muddy road.
This is part of a walking trail. We went in the middle of the day so we got pretty cooked in the heat. But we saw a bunch of monitor lizards and a couple of monkeys so that felt like we were in the midst of some wildlife. The route is pretty easy to follow as you can walk along the tracks.
The area is under construction, the short remaining railway and the bridge is still well kept
Nice place for photo shooting and exercised, a memorable place for Singapore.
A very nice walk to do with the family by bike or on foot, vegetation everywhere and an exploration of this old station, now restored...
I entered through the gate along the main street.
It's right in front of the railroad tracks that cross the street, but there's no signboard, so it's quite hard to find.
The brick station building had a map of Singapore from that time and a ticket counter, giving it a nostalgic feel.
The former Bukit Timah station site and railway tracks are now a promenade, perfect for walking and cycling. Until recently, there was a train running between Singapore and Malaysia. It is unfortunate that the Shinkansen plan has been cancelled. *The surrounding area has been renovated and the old station building is now beautiful. There is also a coffee shop in the old station (updated 7/5/2022)
I enjoyed the sight of the residents' evening rest area and the laughter of children who came out for a walk to cheer their parents.
The spacious open space was nice and the bathroom was clean.
