Reviews of Shaw Theatres Balestier
Cozy mall. Supermarket is well stocked. Good dining options. Comfortable, clean cinema. Ample parking lots.
New and very modern. Excellent seats. Wonderful audio and visual systems. But don't know why they built so many high end lumiere halls in a cinema located in the Balestier area. Tickets to a movie in a Lumiere hall is $22 each.
No crowd as yet. Friendly staff. I enjoy watching movies here. A nice experience everytime. Parking and taxis pickup and drop off is in the basement.
It is in a very new Shaw Plaza where there are many really good restaurants and eateries and retail outlets like NTUC Fairprice.
This mall is located in Balestier Road which is well known for local food and shops selling lights and sanitary wares. There are now several international brand name hotels like Holiday Inn, Marriott, Aloft and Citadines.
Shaw Theatres Balestier is very successful in keeping its heritage roots alive even after its recent renovation and upgrading. Although its official residence is on Balestier Road, it is the side road of Jalan Ampas that still resonates with this iconic Singapore brand that spanned decades and generations.
One of the major refinements made to the new facade is the addition of Dreamers Hall where there are bean bags as the seating arrangements and everything in that hall is pretty much kid-friendly with a playing area. There are the standard six cinema halls and three Lumiere Halls located at the rooftop which is accessible by a pair of escalators. The rooftop pier is decorated with various Singapore-inspired shophouse entrances and there is a big sofa with the iconic "SB" company logo, leaving an impression of history and modernity complimenting each other's true existence.
Been visiting several times besides lido.
Lesser ppl. Of course, cinemas are smaller too but it is clean and sound system doesnt compromise.
Always enjoyable to catch my movies there. Staffs are popcorn counters are super friendly, patience & helpful.
My hubby left his wallet in the cinema. It had a few hundred dollars inside. Yet the staff were very honest. My hubby managed getting his wallet back after calling the head office. Great place to watch a movie. Not crowded. Free combo meal till 9th Apr Sun.
Get a chance to try lumiere studio for free, after queue for almost 1 hour 🤣 good studio, sound and screen also good, interior of the shaw studio also good.
Small but well equipped, this mall packs mainly restaurants and supermarkets, salons and TCMs, school centers.
It also has a hidden gem, an exquisite vegetarian restaurant at the 4th floor which is same floor as the theater.
If you are obsessed with fine dining experience, this is one the place uou can explore.
Newly renovated and open recently. Nice cinema feel outside the halls. Aircon is well measured just at the right temperature. Clean seats. Thanks
Renovated with refreshing look. Back here for movie.. carparks charges for your reference...
Last week I visited the newly revamped Shaw Theatres at Balestier. I am surprised that the men’s toilet is rather small with only 3 urinals and 2 cubicles. Can you imagine guys queuing to use the toilet? Moreover it was smelly and not clean. The management need to beef up cleaning during peak hours especially 6pm to 9pm.
Visited the Dreamers theatre with the kids. Really awesome place with beanbags instead of chairs, and a play area when the kids get a bit restless and want to walk around.
They dont turn off all the lights so it's not too dark. And apparently the sound isn't turned up as high as they usually do in the other theatres. Overall experience was great for the family.
Renovated nice, great view from inside & outside
The place is new so the aircon is cold, the place is clean and tidy and surround sound is good. Hope they keep it that way.
I like the escalator up to the cinema. It’s looks grand w tall doors when u go upstairs to the hall. It’s clean n quiet n the seats are comfy. There are lots of eateries there as well.
Newly renovated and fairly spacious seats
Classy environment and nice to catch a movie there
Shaw cinema is located on level 4 of Shaw Plaza. I chose to watch Fast X in the Lumiere hall today for the first time after the major revamp. I love the reclining spacious chair and am pleasantly surprised there is a usb charging port. Phone was fully charged by the end of the move. Would love to return for more movies here in future!
New, clean , good sound system and not too busy
clean, comfortable seats and less crowded
Hidden gem! Spacious theater! Love it!
Hall 3 has this weird rumbling vibration perioically (low background noise hum at times) that takes you out of the movie audio immersion. Other than that, pretty walkways (like a garden) and clean seats (since recently renovated)
Not yet seen any movies there but always buy ya Kun while watching the trailers 😁. Nice mall with burger king and coffee bean
Comfortable n movie was enjoyable
Brand new movie hall with nice comfy airline seats which can be slided up/down.
Snacks should be more whilst drink cut down.
Ticket isn't cheap but worth going down if there's a really good movie.
Cosy theatre with lots of amenities and eateries
Cosy and clean cinema. Recently renovated too
It's a small mall but there are quite a few cafes and restaurants there. There is also a supermarket on the 2nd floor.
On the 2nd floor (direct in front of escalator) there is a bakery that looks super good. Tried their fruit Danish and curry chicken flatbread... Was excellent!
Provide a great opportunity for everyone to come together, shop, dine, and socialize. This new Shaw Plaza brings a lot of convenience and enjoyment to the people in the area. The new NTUC and cinema are great too.
It's literally all glitz and glamour @Shaw Theatres Balestier. Besides the ambience and pretty lighting, the shops aren't particularly enticing. It recently had a refurbishment and anyways here are some of the main highlights:
-cinema
-ntuc
-babies swimming pool
Note:no more royal sporting house
Yet to see any movies here but so far so good as it has burger king and ya Kun bread toast at level 1.
Good Cinema after the renovation. Lumiere theatre is like gold class with reclining seats.
Nice and comfortable place to catch a movie!
Lowkey cinema with very new facilities. Good for those who don’t like a crowded audience
Wow the newest cinema in Singapore what can I say? Just get into one and watch the movie that you loved and you will not regret enjoying the ambience and high back leather seat l
Nice place but not near any mrt. Not too crowded as other cinemas probably due to location. Seats are old school. The cup holders are old ones that cannot hold smaller drinks.
If you just want to catch a movie without doing any shopping or fancy restaurant to dine prior to the movie, then this is an excellent place. You can almost always come here for the weekend to grab tickets without prior booking.
Shaw cinema is not crowded place to go. Quiet place where you can buy groceries at fair price at basement. You can go to Collins for a nice meal, or KFC and McDonald's! You can shop sports wear at level 1 which is on sale every day!
This place feels like a blast from the past a la 1990s. The presence of a supermarket, pharmacy, fastfood restaurants (MacDonald's and KFC) and movie theatre probably makes this place popular with residents nearby. The only other reason one would visit this place is for the shops selling furniture and lighting. Not a place for shoppers.
The closest-to-town cineplex that, although almost always drawing a bustling late-night crowd, will have good available seats anytime you feel like a movie.
Also has some fast-food options along the ground floor of the building, with many more dining options along Balestier Road.
Nice place to watch movie because it’s usually very quiet and little people here. Partly because there aren’t many shops in the building except a supermarket and some eateries on level one and several across the street... and famous ones too.
The seats are extremely comfortable and spacious. It was a wonderful experience
Nothing to shop, almost all are eateries.
Newest cinema with comfortable leather seats. All theatres are small cinema. Less crowd.
Very convenient, nice chairs but the atmosphere so so only. Overall ok lah
Clean and new, the renovations did surprise me positively..
New after more than 3 years of reno, and its great to have shows and Fairprice and eateries around
not much people, great experience
Newly renovated. Cinemas...too cold.
Nice and clean after the renovation. Not too crowded and feels totally new and revibe.
Renovation in October although it's an old theatre but still very cosy wide leg room. Has Imax Theatres 3d and 2d shows.
Just nice
Less people on week days. Senior citizens pay only $4/- from 12am to 5.30pm. Others cinema have to pay $5 or $6 for movie
Very comfortable (new) leather seats!
Love to come here when everywhere else is full. They should keep the place clean because the seats are kind of smelly
Came to catch the movie on its opening!
One of those quiet cinema where you want to get a good seat at last minute before screen start
Been there countless times as its quieter and easier to get choice seats!
Best hidden cinema in Singapore. Almost guaranteed to get seats regardless of launch date
Nice place to go if you don't like a packed cinema
A better alternative venue for watching movies during peak seasons.
Service very slow
Not very crowded. So calm
I only come for the shows. The cinema staff are friendly.
Quiet place for movies and for privacy.
Awesome movies. Great popcorn
A nice spacious movie theatre.
Small and simple
IT WAS AMAZING
Love it
There is a supermarket on the ground floor, a sports goods sale on the first floor, lighting on the second floor, sofas on the third floor, and a cinema on the fourth floor. It is a bit old, with few people and quiet, and the air-conditioning is very cold.
There are six cinemas in total, showing a variety of movies. Not much traffic! The staff at the ticket counter are friendly!
