Reviews of Alliance Seafood
Very tasty food here. Try the sting ray and chili crab with the sweet mini buns. Both are spicy, the sting ray is a little more spicy than the crab, but is very tender and I love the flavor. The crab comes with plastic gloves so you don't need to destroy your hands while eating, and the bread is fantastic for dipping into the sauce or just an intermission from the seafood. We also tried the calamari and hollow vegetable. The calamari was very tender and was my wife's favorite. The hollow vegetable used the same sauce at the sting ray so the flavor was a bit repetitive. All in all, the spicy food along with a cold beer in the humid hot weather was amazing!
This store located in Newton Circus hawkers where is very famous to tourist. Many shops have almost the same menu but this store got Michilin things. 1 crab weight almost 1 kg(~50S$), we ordered 1 chilli crab (famous Singapore menu) and 1 black pepper crab. It was quite good. My most favorite was the bun (we ordered 2 plates) dipped chilli sauce.
Fried squid look nice but very dry and sweet. Stingray is fresh and spicy
Went on a mission to find some local Singapore Crab and found Alliance Seafood.
Loved it, visited after lunch period and so the chef had time to provid more attention to my dish with rice. No regrets with this business and you should visit here too, the Michelin Star recommendation is legit. Service was great also, as it was less busier than lunch time rush.
Thanks
Another Michelin recommended hawker stall at Newton Circus, and this is a seafood zi char. In Singapore terms, freshly made upon order dishes. The recommended dish here is the Singapore Chilli Crabs. Though they offer many more popular Chinese zi char dishes, including BBQ stingray. Stall presentation is clean and customer service friendly. On crabs order you will be given plates, cutlery, gloves and paper tissues at your table. Excellent comparing that most stalls in Newton uses disposable foam plates and plastic cutlery. Not too long a wait even during early Sunday dinner time, we only waited 20 minutes. The smallest portion ordered since we are here for many other popular beer food. $40 gets you a 400-500gm size Sri Lankan Mud Crab. The crabs were fresh and tender, flavourful. Chilli sauce was a good choice. Unlike many places, where the sauce taste like watery ketchup, here you can taste crab umami in the savoury egg sauce, and the viscosity is perfect in coating the crab and mantous. A little more and it becomes heavy, a little less, watery. This is perfect. We also ordered some sambal kang kong to munch. Crunchy and the bean paste shrimp flavour comes through. Singapore's famous chilli crabs that doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. Definitely coming back for more
My second best seafod stall in Newton..
Kangkung belacan is bit overcooked and soggy.
Bbq sting ray is Ok but the extra star is for the sambal garlic onion ( da bomb 👍)
Sweet and sour chicken is also nice.
But I dunno why they mentioned in Michelin guide.
Overall it was ok slightly above average.
Had the barbecue stingray and kangkong. They were OK but we've had better. The spicy sauce that the stingray is covered with is a bit shrimpier than others, so I guess not bad. Only waited for about 20 minutes for the order to arrive, even though it was a weekend evening.
We ordered 1 chili crab and 1 pepper crab and fried mantou 🦀
It takes a bit long to have our food because of too many people I guess but anyways the mantou with chili crab is 11/10!!
And the crab is nice also~
If there’s no plan to go other famous crab restaurant, the crab here is worth a try for visiting SG!
Ordered Chilli Crab and grilled Stingray. While both were delicious without complaints, I just wished the stingray were served piping hot. Nevertheless we still enjoyed and definitely will be back to order from them again.

Alliance Seafood
Another popular stall at Newton Food Centre, Alliance Seafood is located just right next to Heng Carrot Cake so it makes it easy for one to sample the dishes from both.
Alliance Seafood serves up various types of seafood dishes either in Zhi Char style or BBQ style. Craving for some stingray, an order was put in for the Sambal Stingray.
The wait was not too long and soon a piping hot Sambal Sting Ray was brought to the table. The sting ray was juicy and succulent. Alas, the sambal sauce was a tad heavy handed and was a tad salty. Had to scrape off the sambal sauce to truly enjoy the Sting Ray
General Verdict: Popular stall with a loyal following. The Seafood served are fresh and yummy. Sauces are a tad heavy handed and salty though. Better to ask for the sauces to be served separately or placed at the side
Opening Hours:
Weekdays 3pm-11pm
Weekends 1pm-11pm
Queue Situation: About 5 mins to 15 mins to put in your order than another 15 mins to 30 mins for your order to be served
Payment Mode: Cash, Local Internet Banking by QR code or AMEX (Singapore) Pay
Is this worth a try? Yes.
Is it worth making a trip just to try it? Maybe not.
Is this worthy of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore Award? Unlikely.
Item Ordered:
1)
Item: Sambal Sting Ray
- Sting Ray wrapped in banana leaves and grilled over charcoal in sambal sauce and is a spicy dish
Description: Fresh and succulent stingray let down by a very salty sambal sauce. Had to scrape the sambal off and put it aside to truly enjoy the stingray.
Verdict: Acceptable, Order only if you want to try
Price: SG$12
Only had the stingray which was really well cooked, but Michelin star???🤣
All the food i tasted was YUMMEH
The chilli crab was fat, juicy and fresh
The cockles was nice
Cereal prawn which i usually dont like eating, was really fresh and tasty. Im surprised i would like their cereal prawn.
The sambal stingray was also fresh and spicy.
Baby squid was also nice.
All in all, the best seafood I have had in this year.
I have been to three other seafood places this year and they were overpriced and not this tasty.
Im already planning to come back here with other groups of friends.
The bbq swordfish was delicious. Spicy, but among the best things I ate in Singapore.
Chili card and BBQ seafood here is enticing to have your first bite. Expect a long queue of customers from time to time especially at night and weekends because many people dine here. The restaurant is an open air area so big chances that you be sitting next to a smoking customer. Still, I am giving this restaurant a five-star rating.
Ate here today for lunch. Black pepper crab, sambal veg and steamed rice. Good size servings, delicious and well priced. Would recommend to my friends.
Famous seafood stall in Newton Food Market. I had high expectations, but the food was just ok / underwhelming. We shared several seafood dishes – shrimps, crabs, etc – everything is average. Would rather pay a bit more to go to Jumbo, Long Beach, etc.
Very good
Chilli crab is delicious - worth the hard work to get into it!! Newton food centre itself seemed to have more (annoying) touts than other hawker centres. Still a good experience overall though.
I purposely go there dabao chili crab.
It is delicious, fresh, and the sauce is nice.
Will definately come back again..
$40 for the chili crab
I got the chilli crab. It was ok. I expected great
Really good chilli crab! Worth it, fresh! Fried rice was a little bland but will definitely be back!
The best black pepper crab in Newton circus. The staff are very friendly and nice. Pricing is reasonable
Chili crab was just okay. Mantou that we got to soak up the sauce was probabaly the best part.
🇸🇬 Michelin Bib 2023
Honest seller
Good selection in Newton
Absolutely smashing crabs with a lot of flavour. Absolutely to die for. Outstanding stuff. Loved it.
Overpriced seafood. Id rather eat chicken rice everyday than to eat here.
So so only . But that on my taste bud.
Michelin star restaurant
Great service!
Overpriced
It's quite delicious. Minus 2 stars due to poor atmosphere and poor service. The side menu is not very comprehensive.
I went to Newton Hawker because it was selected as a Bib Gourmand. The chili crab was $40 (market price), less than half the price of the jumbo ($90). There was also no service charge. It was tasty enough, but not as good as some of the more famous restaurants. The flavor was spicy, but a little bland, and this became even more pronounced towards the end. The dipping sauce for the steamed dumplings ($6) was noticeably less thick or thick. However, as I've said before, it was still tasty enough for a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and not overbearing, as is often the case with popular restaurants. Several groups of Korean women came in and ordered the same menu: crab, shrimp, steamed dumplings, and fried rice. Paper napkins and plastic gloves were provided free of charge. A large bottle of Tiger Beer was $7.50 at a restaurant a short distance away. If you go during the weekday lunch hour, 90% of the restaurants are closed. The restaurant next door is a popular carrot cake spot.
If you want to eat chili crab, this is definitely the place! !
The cost performance is the best✨
Another obviously overrated stall. The crab we had was probably malnourished. The prawns are pretty good, after all, they cost $20 each. The chilli crab $55 is considered the current public price. I came here because of the reputation, but I was disappointed. The crabs served were at least malnourished and the meat was soft. The dish was filled with seasoned and thickened sauce. If you came here for the sweet and spicy sauce, you might enjoy this delicious dish. The cooking is at the level of a food stall. Don't complain about the expensive price. This is not the first Michelin restaurant to disappoint you during the trip. This is a trip that disenchants Michelin.
A place with good value for money and delicious food. It was nice to eat outside in the rain so it wasn't too hot. Since it's a food court, it's convenient to be able to buy drinks and other food from nearby stores.
Good taste, fresh food
