Reviews of Anshun Seafood Soup
Great fish soup served in this relatively small coffee shop. The boiled fish was really fresh and fried fish was delicious. It was really crispy, and soup was not too salty, having a little fish flavour.
Second time coming here for lunch. Their fish soup is good. Food is fresh. Order a large portion and added fish roe and a bowl of fried fish. Need to queue a bit during peak hours.
Horjiak😀👍.
Visited the stall on weekday at 3pm ish to see what the fuss was about. Despite the odd hours, there was a steady stream of customers.
I ordered the highly recommended Mixed Fish Soup with rice and added a portion of omega fish belly. The total was $10.70.
The presentation was thoughtful, with the fried fish served separately and a generous portion of vegetables in a cloudy broth. After taking a sip of the soup, I was disappointed. It tasted unremarkable, with only a hint of herbal flavour. I later discovered a piece of herb in the soup which resembles yu zhu. Reading other reviews, I noticed that many people recommend adding milk to the soup. Taste is subjective, but for those who appreciate the authentic taste of Teochew fish i.e. sans milk, this soup falls short.
The batang fish was heavily marinated, which overpowered its natural flavour. Thankfully, the omega fish belly (seabass belly) was perfectly marinated and lacked the usual fishy and bitter taste.
The fried fish, which resembled fish popcorn, had a delicious batter. I appreciated that it was served warm, even though I visited during off-peak hours. However, I was not a fan as there was hardly any fish in it.
As I visited during off-peak hours, I waited less than 5 minutes for my order. I don't think you should wait more than 10 minutes for your food, as there are better options in the area (check my earlier reviews).
Wow, one of the best fish soup if not the best in Singapore. No wonder rating so high. I normally don't eat fried fish when I eat such fish soup but the fried fish here is awesome.
This is my comfort food near my house. The fish soup with milk is definitely one of the best in SG, and the fried fish is very crispy. To top it off, the auntie servicing is always very polite and jovial to her customers. Can’t recommend more.
Went there for lunch with a family member and we both ordered their mixed fish set that comes with fried and sliced fish. The soup had a good clean taste and the sliced fish was nice and soft with little to no fishiness. The fried fish was good and crispy but slightly over fried.
Very very nice fish soup.
Come early, while stocks last.
Tastes way better than it looks and they'll ask if you want it with or without milk. Fish was fresh and cooked well very tasty and rich flavor and is definitely on the top of my fish soup list. They even cut off the skin for you which is a plus. The fried fish is a must-try. The service was great and a rather clean place which brought back abit of nostalgic vibes with the seating being at a void deck, will definitely be back!
By the time I got there, the usual fish soup was sold out. So I had to settle for tom yum. Makes me wonder why they do two kinds of soup when they easily add tom yum flavour to the original soup. But the fish itself did not disappoint. Fresh as can be. Succulent to bite into. Fried fish is also first class. Goes very well with chili or that tartar sauce from the chippy shop. Please be considerate and order something from them before taking their tartar sauce.
Excellent milky fish soup! Hidden stall yet surprisingly popular. We came before their opening time and still had to wait 15mins to begin ordering.
Outstanding taste and freshness! Even the fried fish that I usually dislike is really good here as they don’t use a lot of flour, and the fish used is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Overall would come back again if I can come at 11am time range. The main crowd appears after 1125am, very quickly!
1 of the best fish soup, but the portion is a lot smaller now compared to last year. Guess inflation contributes, but it is still affordable fish soup nowadays. Didn't manage to take pic coz i was busy eating, hehe.
Reached here at 10:50am and the is starting to take orders. Food ready by 11:15am.. now there is a snaking queue waiting to order.. ordered fish slice thick bee hoon soup with additional fried fish by the side. Taste of the soup is fresh and light, sliced fish is thick and flaky. Fried fish is freshly fried. Quite a hearty meal…. Left the place at 11:45am and the queue is looonggg… avoid coming during lunchtime
Gotta love their fish soup and fish belly! They also have fish eggs if you request for it!
Really good. One of the best fried fish soup ever. Be prepared to wait as abit disorganise the shop. I think if someone help uncle and auntie to organise their ordering flow. The experience will be better.
The fish is the star, I see why people queue for the food. The sliced fish is extremely smooth and soft, while the fried one is really crispy. The broth is okay, nothing jaw dropping. Don't come before 1pm.. the queue moves too slowly.
Fried fish here is a must, especially with Thai chilli sauce (available condiment from them). Soup is richly milky (if you choose to add milk). Your fish soup experience here will be both unique, and enjoyable.
Still one of the better fish soup out there. Have been eating this since they were at toa payoh as it is just below my office!
Located below a block in a void deck. The fish soup is worth queueing for if you're in the area! Do try the fried fish as its some of the best tasting ones I've ever tried
The best fried fish soup in Singapore. Period. Crispy fried fish is outstanding. Long queue.
Fish was fresh and fried fish was tasty. Generally good but will only visit if it is in the way. Low motivation to intentionally visit since it’s quite common compared to other fish soup.
Easily of the best fried fish soups I have ever tasted. The fish was fried perfectly and the broth has light. Loved how the fried fish was served separately so that you can have maximum satisfaction in every single bite.
Reach 1115am
Already alot people order ahead of us and waiting to pickup . Most of them are taking away. Queue until 1220pm only have order
Well queue is very long
First timer to taste it, not so bad
But queue too long
Good to tried once
But grouper fish head finish so early than unexpected
Only have batong fish head
But almost finish already
Price is OK
And the service is great and friendly
And soup a bit less
Take note, you have to mention you want milky soup or else they will give clear soup
Milky soup is the best, recommended!
This is the OG fish soup store which was located at the coffeeshop at block 91, near Jiak Kim street (old Zouk) Many of those who partied or worked at zouk will remember and patronise their store before heading over to Zouk. Run by the Friendly couple, uncle and auntie always asked how was our day :). The price, standard and food quality may have changed slightly but the freshness of the batang and grouper are still on point.
Tasty fish soup
They separate fried fish
Worth it
Long queue
Mind blowing fish soup!! Super crispy fried fish that will be served separately to ensure that it doesnt get soggy. Fried fish is very fresh and crispy. Soup was very flavourful as well. Queue is very long during lunch time.
A hidden gem at the corner of Toa Payoh. Maybe the best fish soup around Toa Payoh/Bishan area. Was fortunate to get the last few bowls of this delicious fried fish / sliced fish thick bee hoon combo and I drank it to the last drop. Fully satisfied and would come back for more. Be prepared for a crowd during peak hour and sold out after 6pm. Cash payment only.
Great taste with fresh fish! One of those rare stalls which will separate out your order of fried fish in small bowl. Expect a queue even on the weekends. On weekdays, be prepared to wait 20-30 mins during lunch hours. Definitely will leave you satisfied and craving for more.
Nice mixed fish soup with rice, the soup is rich and the fried fish is crispy and sliced fish is fresh. The aunty and uncle are both very friendly. Expect long Q but they served quite fast.
Soup is excellent and fish is fresh . Ordered the fish belly and fish head soup . Fish belly is full of omega but the fish head soup was disappointing with more bones / fins than fish heads😂
Expect long queue !
Went on a Sat around 12pm, queued for ~20min. Ordered the 黑白 (fried and sliced fish) with 伊面 for $7. They're closed for CNY2024 until 24 Feb. Would go again if I'm in the vicinity. Broth is very flavourful. Fried fish very crispy and sliced fish is very fresh and tender.
Starts from $6 for regular fish soup.
Today 7 Jun, went to packet 4 fish soup (3 boiled and 1 fried fish). Upon reaching home, missing 1 packet of fried fish. Very disappointed , can't get back my refund for the missing order.
Waiting time is about 1 hr during lunch but the fish is very fresh and fried fish is crispy
I like how they separated the fried fish, which was very crispy (and delicious)! The chilli was also spicier than the other similar stalls (which was nice).
Friendly staff.
Fried fish soup is amazing. The batter tastes great, and the fish is fresh as well.
Soup is light and satisfying
Only if you can afford the time to queue. 😬😬😬
Needless to say.. One of my favourite to go fish soup.. 👍👍👍👍👍 Be prepare to q on lunch time..
Tried it finally as after lunch time little crowd.
Impressed with the fried fish, though the rest seem normal to me.
Will try without milk in the soup next time to taste the real freshness.
One of my favourite fish soup! I rarely eat fried fish soup and usually prefers fresh slice fish but at this stall, one cannot miss out on their fried fish! Love the crispy batter and the fried fish is well-seasoned! Fresh slice fish is also silky smooth. The good thing is you can have the best of both worlds here by ordering their dual fried and fresh sliced fish soup!
Soup taste rather special, seems to taste lemongrass in the soup base but can't be sure.
Their Tom yum soup is also quite tasty.
Been a customer since their Toa Payoh days. Came here for grouper fish soup with rice and it was really good - fish meat was tender, soup was flavourful and good portion of vegetables in it. Their fried fish was also fantastic with the thai chilli sauce. Happy to say their standard has been the same since they moved here and service was friendly too. It was one of the only few stalls open in the coffee shop when I came so there was a long queue. Queue moves fast but you should still expect to wait. Will come back for more again!
After seeing good reviews here and some blog. Make my way there to try. I am there 12:15pm and there is a snake of Q. After 45 min finally get to order my black and white fish soup. It is milk base and taste above average. The fried fish is very crispy. Portion is small for $7. Can eat if you are around there and if the Q is not too long.
Small kopitiam with not a lot of tables, so you've got to try to get seats before your food arrives - try to go with two people so one can order and one can chope seats. Food was great: high quality ingredients for a fair price. Tried the tomyum seafood soup too and it was nice. Fried fish is great too, even for people that usually shun that. Everything was fresh and indeed worth the 20-30 min wait at peak hour.
The best fish soup place ever!! Fried fish w/ milky soup base + their chilli is super shiok!! Make sure to come early though. Their queues can be quite lengthy at times. BUT DEFINITELY WORTH IT.
Located under a HDB block with ample parking lots nearby. Place was also bright and well-ventilated.
Fish soup with noodles ($6) was tasty; a good comfort food on a rainy day. Service was brisk and efficient. Would come again 👍🏻
Looks promising

Good Food, Taste Good too
One of better fish soup I had in recently. Sure to return soon.
easily one of the best fish soups i've had in my life. the soup is delicious, fish is fresh. you will definitely not regret ordering the fried fish. it is freshly fried and crispy, and they serve it on the side rather than throwing it in the soup like most places do so it does not get soggy.
Went for lunch today (Mon) around 1:30 pm after the lunch crowd and after the rain. We ordered a seafood ee-mian soup and a fried fish beehon soup. The fried fish was served seperatedly in a bowl which was nice and kept the pieces crispy. The seafood soup has fresh fish slices, about 6 pieces of Lala and a large prawn. Soup is tasty and the fried fish pieces are nice. Zion Rd Fish Soup is definitely the better of the fish soups places in the area.
Used to dine at the old Zion road stall, as I usually try not to take fried items, the auntie insisted must try their fried fish and from then fell in love with their fried fish. Lost them for awhile when they shifted out from Zion Rd. The fried fish is served in a separate bowl instead of putting everything into the soup. But even if you try to soak the fish in the soup for quite awhile it's still crispy.
Tried the fish soup with noodle, generous amount of slice fish for $6. Yummy..
Slice fish soup with E Mian was delicious! Soup was pretty flavourful. Simple bowl of fish soup noodle. Price wise was still reasonable, about the same as elsewhere.
Thick cut fresh fish slices, good stock. Great for.lunch or dinner
Come here for the fish slice soup with thick beehoon. The couple who run this tore are really friendly. Queue can get very long so best to come early. If ordering takeaway, they will cook everything together then pack the soup separate from the noodles and ingredients. Remember to let them know when ordering whether you would like to add condensed milk to the soup (recommended to add).
This fish noodle stall had relocated from Braddell coffeshop opposite SPH. The only stall that attract a queue.
Now they had moved to Hougang Ave 1 coffeeshop.
Quality still as good as before but price had increased.
The mixed fried and white fish noodle used to be $5.5 in braddell is now $7
But it’s still one of my favorite fish noodle.
Quiet place. Fish soup is superb, love the ingredients, hidden find. The couple running the stall is very friendly. I went with the fried and slice fish soup, the soup was rich and fish tasted fresh
Located near SPH, this is one of the better fish soups that I have tasted.
The long queue is testament to its taste, and my personal fav is the mixed fish soup.
Currently, opening hours are from 1030 to 1630 (or while stock lasts) due to shortage of manpower (covid strikes again!)
Recommended to visit before 1130 if you are looking to skip the lunch time crowd, and before 1730 if you are looking to skip the dinner crowd
Hands down, one of the best best fish soups in Singapore. The non-fried fish slices are Super fresh. No worries abt weird fishy odours. and the fried ones are amazingly crispy and savoury. The sweet chilli dip makes every bite a heavenly experience. Gonna come back many times for sure!
Tasty fish soup. Fish slices are tender and soup is flavourful. Fried fish is crispy. Highly recommend this place.
Delicious and crispy fried fish, fish soup is nice. Too many people in the queue during lunch time
Fried fish is the best! Very crispy and flavourful
Everyone comes here for the fried fish and also the sliced fish soup.
To seriously avoid disappointments and get scolded for blocking the other restaurants pathway while queuing for order. Please come earlier. Or just asign one person to queue and fall in when is your turn.
Lots of choices of noodles to choose from to pair with the seafood on offer. Or the usual 🍚 is sufficient as well.
With or without milk on the soup is also allowed of course. But the soup with milk makes it more appetising and fresh. Yeah you can finish the whole bowl of soup if you want. No one is stopping you, maybe judging 😂
The soup was very tasty and slice fish was thick unlike other places where the slice fishes are thin. Both the slice fish and fried fish are must try.
Very nice fish soup, has a little herbal taste which makes it tasty. Must try the fried fish.
Nice soup base. Always long queue but worth the wait. While waiting can check out the rojak stall near the drinks stall. Very nice also. Can rival the hdb hub one 💪
Really good fish soup! Highly recommend + add on the fried fish too
One of my favourite fish soup to go. Been following them since Tpy days. Friendly teochew owners.
Touted as the best fish soup in Singapore. Too much sodium.
I like the food here, tasty and with nice texture. I typically choose the "shuang yu" option as it gives a variety of textures.
Very crispy fish and tasty soup. Friendly aunty and uncle. Definitely will come back for more.
Rustic and authentic flavours. Love the fried fish soup. Never get sick of it. Yummilicious!
One of the best I've taken. Fried fish is a must although the fish slice is also good.
one of the top five fish soup in sg
Reasonable priced. Fresh quality seafood. No MSG in soup.
Love the fried fish with milk thick bee hoon. Must order!
Best fish soup!
