Reviews of Bedok Chwee Kueh 水粿 (#01-19)
One of the best chwee kueh stall to others but to me, the best yet! Great balance of saltiness, sweetness and aromatics fried radish on top of soft rice-flour cupcake. Yums!!!
Very disappointing. Over the years they've gradually gotten worse....the Kueh now is so brittle it cannot stay in shape. Chyepoh still ok but way too oily and serving in a takeaway brown paper isn't the best way to eat. Prices are ok compared to the likes of jianbo considering it's huge. I prefer smaller ones tho.
Glad that price is reversed to 60 cents for a piece of Chwee Kueh. Notice that Bedok Chwee Kueh has lost quite a fair bit of market shares. In order to gain back your customers, proposed that to launch promotions like buy 4 get 1 free during festive like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Children's Day or National Day for examples. Liked those promos launched by bread shops. After the promotion, the awareness is created and subsequent increase in sales. Just a suggestion.
The chwee kueh are big and filling but the texture is soft and breaks apart easily. The chai poh is really good though. The queue was ok today maybe due to the rain but expect long queue for most of the time. The aunties are friendly and helpful.
The kueh is soft n melt in the mouth. Just that the radish can be less oily. The chillies is good, contain dry prawn.
Chwee Kueh (SGD $1.50 for 3 pieces) @ Bedok Chwee Kueh 水粿.
.
A popular brand with outlets across Singapore, their consistency and quality in serving this lone dish got them the Michelin Bib Gourmand back in 2019.
.
The steamed rice cake is soft, smooth, with a wobbly bounce. Has a mild grainy sweet flavour, evident of the lack of filler starch, and more of the rice itself.
.
The preserved daikon radish is finely chopped, slow stewed with sesame seeds in vegetable oil, having a gentle juicy crunch without being overly oily, and enticing vegetal sweet salty nutty flavour.
.
The sambal belachan is chunky, robust with shrimpy savoury salty spicy flavour, pairing well.
.
The consistently delicious quality, together with its affordability, is a winning combination.
Overall Five stars for a good morning light breakfast in bustling Bedok Interchange.
I'll only eat the chwee kueh from this stall/chain (they get their food from central kitchen, you can see the delivery truck sometimes in the middle of the day when they need to replenish stock). The chye poh is superb though super oily. Best is order the $2 portion and ask them to pack the chye poh separately. Perpetual super long queue but moves quite fast.
I don't think it's worth spending money on this side dish. The cost is too high for a side dish and it does not have any food value. It's just rice cake and preserve vegetables that is high in salt and unhealthy palm oil.
I can make this at home with less salt and oil substituting with olive oil and lesser amount.
Came during off peak (mid afternoon) and managed to place my order within a min or two.
The chee kueh served here are slightly larger than the typical. They are soft and fresh. The preserved radish packs a punch in terms of flavour, but is quite oily. The sambal is quite salty and I enjoy the chee kueh better without the chilli. Reasonably priced
There's usually long queue but if you go early in the morning about 8.30am, there's no queue. Their chwee kueh are bigger than others, rather soft and smooth. They give generous amount of chye poh. I tried with chilli but I feel the chilli does not go well with the chwee kueh.
The Chee Kueh size is bigger but become too soft. Standard dropped very much
My nephew was in the long queue when he whatsApp me if I wanted chwee kueh at Bedok. Fortunately I whatsApp him on time when it was almost his turn. Compared with chwee kueh I have eaten at other stalls, I think this is the best so far and cheap too ( can recommend to overseas visitor).
They improve over the years and I would say the best in town. Forget about Tiong Bahru's food centre, they are overrated and fail to improve. Bedok Chwee Kueh has few stall around Singapore.
They also upsize the chwee kueh and make the look even better. each piece is chewy to the bite and not stick to teeth, main start is fried chye poh (preserved radish/turnip) topping. Best in Singapore i would say.
If they claims to be Number 2; then I really can’t any Number 1 Chwee Kway in Singapore.
They are by far; the best Chwee Kway one can find in Singapore. There is always long queue of people buying this Chwee Kway, and they are not stingy with the Chilli or Chai Poh!
Enjoyed the 3 chwee kuehs for $1.50. Huge fresh pieces. Lovely texture and lots of savoury chai por.
The chai poh is grounded too fine and does not have the crunchy texture. The chilli tastes off the shelves and is not memorable.
Yes, it is a little bit oily but with chwee kueh being such a rarity these days, having some always feels like a treat. $2 for 4 pieces.
One of the most famous chwee kueh (steamed rice cake) in Singapore. Very generous with the chai po (diced preserved radish).
After the change in the serving size, it has become a lot more oily. In fact the oil was seeping through the wrapper.
Delicious Chwee Kueh in singapore. $1.80 for 3, $2.4 for 4 worth to come and try.
It in bedok hawker center
Chwee Kueh is good. Always long queue. But recently they started giving significantly lesser chai po. Otherwise overall its really good.
Very soft and nice. Probably the best 水粿
Cheap and delicious. Yes it’s oily but I love chwee kueh so I don’t mind
I like the texture of the chwee kueh (not too starchy/ rubbery) and love the caipo on top of it.
A little too oily, rice cake too soft. But the chai poh is good!
The chai poh (toppings) were delicious. (Sorry for the poor picture).
Typical chwee kueh stall. Weekends and meal times will have long queue.
They are generous with the ingredients. Best Chwee kueh. Thumbs up!
Bedok chwee kueh is good but sometimes long queue.
Love this, have to purchase when I'm around Bedok area!

It's hard to tell from the photo, but the jiggly daikon mochi is topped with a sweet, salty, and crunchy sauce. The texture was interesting and I ate it quickly. People who don't like oily products may not like it.
Is it dessert? That's what I thought, but it looks like it's eaten hot, so I wonder if it's something like a donut and eaten as a snack?
It was a food that I had never eaten before, so if you have never tried it before, please give it a try.
It makes me think of Grandma’s Shui Kueh
