Reviews of 菜市菜头粿 Chai Chee Cai Tou Guo
The carrot cake stick was nice, and the fried yam cake was one of the better ones I’ve tasted recently.
This is my favourite stall at this Food Centre - for its Carrot Cake Strip. A phrase always come to mind whenever I eat the strips of carrot cake - simple pleasures in life. Yet it is not so simple really to make it so deliciously perfect - crispy on the outside and very tender and moist on the inside. While it is deep fried, it is dry and does not feel oily at all, and every bite is filled with the fragrance of turnip.
Queue moves fast. Known for the carrot sticks. Best to eat fresh. It’s an addictive kind of taste. You get the best part of carrot cake in each bite. Very oily though.. and they sell the sticks minimally 10 sticks..
This stall never disappoints. Freshly fried carrot cake sticks with crispy edges. Snack complements well with a cup of hot coffee.
Exceptional delights, so glad that they are still making these after all these years!
Crispy on the outside and fluffy warm on the insides. Perfect with some garlic chilli
💛😩
Hands down one of the best place for carrotcake. The carrotcake sold here comes in rectangle and stripe. The freshly made one are sold out within minutes out from the deep fryer. This is typically a finger food and its pretty addictive.
Heritage food that is hard to find on this red dot. Manned by a father and son team. This is cai tou guo (fried carrot cake) in a portable handy sticks. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yumz.
Long queues expected the mornings.
Definitely the best fried carrot cake I ever tried.
Looks like French fries, but thicker.
Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! I recommend the “sticks” version that you can snack on like fries.
Economic light finger food. Yam cake nice too. Try it out if you near East side. Peak hour long Q
The texture is crispy.:))will come again to buy soon.
Fantastic
They sell fried carrot cake.
It's crispy and delicious, but it's $2 for 10 pieces... I might buy it again if it was $1 for 5 pieces.
Traditional food, opened in the 1980s until now, first-class
Delicious fried dough sticks with an old-fashioned flavor.
