Reviews of Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun
Since the one at Blk 802 Tampines has made way for Fried rice. I came to Blk 209 for their cheong fun. Full of ingredients wrapped in it. Certainly very worthy
I knew I had to try this stall when I saw they only had Chee Cheong Fun and some side dishes. Yeah, the Chee Cheong Fun was chewy and packed with ingredients. Additionally, there's a wide selection of fillings. You should also try the chicken feet, which were juicy and plump, and the carrot cake, which was nicely fried. It's a little pricey, but understandable since it's a specialized stall.
I and my wife saw this stall during our evening walk. So we patronised it today. We tried the Mushroom and Prawn Chee Cheong Fun. Waiting time about 15 minutes because of hidden queue (by queue number). The chee cheong fun was freshly cooked. It was soft, smooth and tasty. Well balanced not soggy. Reasonably price. The elderly Malaysian couple who shared the table with us said they heard this stall is the best chee cheong fun in Singapore.
The Mushroom Cheong fun is so good. The skin is definitely not thick. It’s translucent and very tender. Any thinner and it won’t hold the generous ingredients inside. As for their dim sum, I’d skip the char siew bun. The carrot cake is not soft, over fried and the edges are hardened from re-frying. Not fresh. The siew mai was decent. The lor mai gai was ok too I’ll pass as well. Cheong fun shiok, but the rest not so.
This is the 2nd time i’m having this ccf. Just have to say that mushroom chee chong fun from @chefweihkcheongfun is my favs! I’m quite happy to say that I only waited 15 mins for this ( ate my noodles at tai wah while waiting ) and their ccf is good for takeaway and still tasted fresh after 30 mins.
.
I like the sweet and savoury flavours from the mushroom and sauce, the thin and improved skin plus the chili makes this a yummy breakfast.
Chef Wei HK Cheong Fan, Bedok: Bedok is bursting with fantastic little-known gems such as the good ol’ fashion Cheong Fan. Chef Wei, who used to hone his craft at peach Garden now has a long line of fans in the heartlands. #eatstylishtravelstylish
One of the better tasting ones here! Skin is a bit thicker, but that's my preference. Also, gave actual char siew meat bits.. versus some sorry-of-an-excuse minced pork that some shops try to pass off as char siew. Price is decent for the serving size. Chilli could be serve a bit more of a punch.
Been a while since I've had this and I'm relieved that the prawn cheong fun (and the accompanying sauce and chilli) is still good. Tried the cheong fun stuffed with dough fritter today – was initially apprehensive but the youtiao was freshly fried and still crispy after I dabaoed.
4 star only because it was a bit inconsistent in the past.
Portions are huge, good value for money.
Prawn Cheong fun was my favourite, prawns were crunchy pairs well with the thicker Cheong fun. Mushroom Cheong fun was decent, interesting. Not a huge fan of the char siew simply because I don’t like coloured char siew, I only like properly roasted char siew so will pass on this option the next time.
Mushroom Cheong Fun. Visited the OG stall of Chef Wei who previously helmed peach Garden Restaurant. Having tried many stalls from former chefs of reputable restaurants vis-a-vis those from stalls helmed by others who does not have a restaurant background, my take is that as long as the Cheong fun is freshly milled and made to order, it taste just as good.
The food quality is no more as good as it used to be. While it may seem unfair to judge them with a 4* but then they are also advertised to be great food from Hong Kong and I used to enjoy the quality chee cheong fun from here.
But the standard has dropped from the early days.
Nice and freshly served. Got plain, mushroom, prawn and char siew. $4 per serving.
Recommended by a local friend. Tried the prawn Chee Cheong Fun. Delicious! Waited approximately 45mins on a weekday lunchtime. The Chee Cheong fun is made from scratch upon order and only one is made at a time. Be prepared to wait. However the guy making it works at lightning speed or else the queue line will be longer. Would definitely go back again to try other options.
Soft, bouncy, the sauce isn't sweet and the chilli is good.
Super long Q and a long wait, but it's totally worth it! The sauce is so fragrant and the skin is so nice... Next time I will order more boxes cos one box is just not enough! 😁 Would totally recommend if you're around the area and don't mind the long Q.. About 30-45 mins cos everything is freshly made.
Freshly made and hot! Chili sauce was also perfect
Crowded during weekend morning. Give a try when you pass by. "Big" fillings. Affordable price 👍🏼
I patronised Chef Wei's stall thrice and my favourites are the prawn and char siu. It's the best chee cheong fans by far. Service is quite fast and there is already a short queue at 0730 hr.
I have a suggestion for Chef Wei to change the plastic container that he is using to store the soy sauce. It is not air tight and even with careful carrying, by the time i reached home, the sauce was totally spilt on 2 out of 3 occasions. And of course, without the soy sauce, my CCF did not taste well, hence, my review is 4 out of 5 stars.
Review for mushroom CCF. The CCF sheets were thin, silky and have a QQ texture. Decent amount of fresh mushrooms. On par with good dim sum restaurants. The waiting time was around 10 minutes on a Saturday evening. Would go back for this. The coffeeshop is located next to Sheng Siong supermarket and near the Bedok Interchange hawker centre. Parking is available just behind the coffeeshop (mscp).
Really good especially the mushroom and the prawn ones. My fav 🥰
Very good. Highly recommend the pork ribs and mushroom cheong fun. Chili is one of the best I've ever had. Truly spectacular
Lady serve me with pre packed Cheong fun and requested the guy to make another fresh one as I order 2.
I suspect those pre packed Cheong fun is those MiA order.
Then I refused to take it as the surface looks dry to me and I don’t know how long it left there.
Only tell the guy make fresh Cheong fun when I starting to make noise.
The chee cheong fun is chewy and the thickness is just nice. Paired with a tub of very fragrant soya sauce and chilli. Nice 👍
Authentic top quality Hong Kong style chee cheong fun. Same standard as you will find at leading hotel's dim sum restaurant
Nice hand made Cheong fun. Quite large portion, and filling . Value for money, importantly yummy and delicious tasty Cheong fun.
Chef wei cheong fun is nice. The Japanese and Korean food just next stall to chef wei cannot eat. Rice and soup all cold de when we eat
Nice food and good service!!
only tried the without fillings cheong fun.. hand-made so considered thin. flavour wise ok.
simple cheong fan with quite a number of variety. queue is no longer that long, easier to get a decent quick bite.
Good tasting CCF esp the prawn version. Will definitely be back for more!
Very Shiok, Smooth & Tasty Cheong Fun.Prepare to Q...during lunch hours
