Reviews of Feng Ji Kway Chap 峰记粿汁
Definitely one of the better ones on our sunny island.
Pros:
Kway was blanched in gravy for stronger flavors.
Braising gravy was balanced.
They serve 生肠 aside from big/small intestines, which is rather rare. Try it if you havent try it before.
Braised pork belly had a good fat/lean ratio.
Cons:
Chilli slightly too tangy, just slightly.
Small intestines were overcooked and a little too tough.
One of the best kway chap I ever tried...no piggy smell too n in terms of taste n portion better off den many other stalls. Damage is too low! Only $7 for 2 paxs! I wonder how d seller make money... *** suitable for those who prefer more flavourful***
Good traditional tasting kwaychap at super affordable prices. They only open in the morning until sold out, so by lunchtime some items may not be available.
Clearly not the best tasting nor most fanciful, their menu is simple with the few essentials. But their prices are unbeatable in the market today - props to the stall owners for not raising prices so it remains affordable for the elderly living in the area.
I'm a kway chap lover and will exercise vigorously because i always order the intestine part (cholesterol mah). So sad that the large intestine was fully sold out when I visited at 11.15am. Only tried their braised pork and small intestine (粉肠).
Braised pork is tender but not the melt-in-your mouth type. The pork soaked up the braised soup to give a light flavouring and yes, it does taste good. The small intestine looks unappealing, dry and tough initially. Soak it longer into the braised gravy given and it taste 👍. No 'porky' or urine smell nor taste. I purposely let the kway (white piece of lookalike kway teow) sit in the dark soup for 5-7 minutes before tucking in. The kway turned brown and taste better. Lots of fried garlic was sprinkled into the soup that gives a fragrance taste.
Most kway chap are costly but this stall charges will guarantee plus chop won't burn your pocket a hole.
Service very good sia. They are friendly no matter how busy they are.
Definitely hidden gem. Was hesitant to share but seeing their excellent courtesy with customers, definitely support!
Personally do not eat innards so no review of that. But the braised pork belly, pig skin (not too nuah, not too tough, perfect), savoury kway with fried garlic bits, price and of course service is to die for.
Their usual kway chup set is $2.50. One of the cheapest I believe? All the items in the photos and take away containers just $9.50. It was 2 eggs, 1 share of 粉肠, 1 dao pok, 1 share pig skin, 1 bean curd skin, 3 shares of delicious super soft braised pork belly and 2 kway (1 big 1 small)
The only con is be prepared to queue at least 30-45 mins, limited parking (there is a public car park by the canal), closed if sold out (as early as 11am). Be there early! They are closed on Fridays.
Enjoyed the kway chap set ($2.50) with extra large intestines ($2.50) and extra pork belly ($1). The meat was warm and the broth had depth and was slightly herbal. The pork belly was fresh and had good balance of fat and meat.
Tasty broth of soup and smooth kuay... order 2 bowl for myself. Upon exploring the hawker, I notice a long queue of 7 to 8 pax in front of me and decide to join the queue after reading the review. Worthwhile to try and also to mention that it is consider cheap consider the portion... the pork belly is also equally tasty and should have order more!
A stall chucked away in the countryside that offers fantastic traditional kway chap.
The gravy that comes with the kway is rich in taste, topped with finely chopped shallots and cilantro. Pig innards are well cleaned and braised, doesn't have that foul smell. Chilli sauce is a thoughtful mix. Would be better if the kway is cut into smaller pieces to slide down the throat.
Staff were friendly village folks. Opens only in the early part of the day and you had to queue. Took them a good half hour to serve 7-8 persons in front of me, which almost made me changed my mind.
If you don't mind the queue and got lots of time to spare, this is the breakfast stall to go.
Really value for money meal. Kway Chap is tasty, the broth is thick and chilli is good.
They do serve $2.50 comfort meal set!
Hidden in Jalan Batu, a gem with nice food. This stall was recently featured in YouTube and Facebook for offering $2.50 set meal.
Here to try it out. When I arrived there are already a line of about 10 people.
Waiting approximately 30 mins for my food. Get to choose the item individually or set. Decided to choose, big intestine small intestine, braised pork, pork skin, egg and 2 bowls of Away costing $6.00. not too expensive compared to old airport one.
Taste wise, not the best, but worth a try. Probably a 4 out of 5. He prepared the food slow and steady and no rush.
Do be prepared to wait as after I have taken my food, I look back, there's still a lone of more than 10 people queuing.
The Kway Chap set ($2.50) is really value for money and with added pork belly ($1.00) it's the icing on the cake. Very friendly lady boss and overall worth the waiting. Must try if you are coming to this neighbourhood hawker centre.
Nice kway chap, but extremely slow as the staff not allowed to do anything much but stand around. Kway was soft and soup was light and still tasty. The offering was fair portion, but less than in the past, with the offals nicely cooked.
Decent tasty and very affordable kway chap. $2.50 per pax. Added intestines so this portion for 1 is 4.50. Long queue. Waited about 20mins for about 10pax ahead. Come support.
Longest queue stall in this hawker centre. 1-person set for only $2.50.
Kampong Arang is a lesser known hawker center near the Dunman area, and much quieter compare to the nearby old airport road hawker. I enjoy coming here for breakfast as the food is good, and the queue for the anchor tenants are relatively short. Feng Ji's kway chap is nice and their set meal is value for money. The kway is thin and silky smooth, and the broth tasty yet not too salty. I will go for the set meal most of the time, but this does not include some of the more exotic items such as the big intestines (大肠头), which I must say it's really worth paying just a bit extra.
2nd time I had this Kway Chap... Kway is still as good, having absorbed some of the flavour from the lor. However, the offals I picked spoiled it for me. The pig stomach and small intestines were rubbery and tough, though big intestines and pork belly were nice. Should have just ordered the $2.50 standard set instead of going premium with special parts.
There were about five people queueing in front of me on a Saturday morning at 10:30 am. The queue most pretty fast and the service was efficient. Note the menu is all in Chinese
Surprise not long q today at 1145am. Most ingredients sold out. I simply love the soup and the Chilli. And is cheap
Friendly hawkers
Good value with decent serving
The kway n Tua Tng are excellent.
Braised pork n skin are good.
Fen Chang is clean, no funky taste.
10 Jul 2023: Reasonably good kway chap...smooth kway soaked in flavorful broth to go with braised pork, tau pok, intestine, tau kee and braised peanut...a comfort food for many.
Very smooth and nice de Kway with nice soup! The chili is very very spicy but goes well with the braised ingredients! Must go early before ingredients snap up!
Nothing to expect from a hawker. Kway chap is good, slightly different from others that uses herbs. Theirs more to the soy side. Meat is very tender. Will go back again for sure
The consistency of the kway chap is unparalleled. Been living in the area for 9 years and they got the taste spot on. The taste is “clean”, herbal and rich. They do not sell any duck meat which contributes to the “clean” taste. Queues are long. Sellout by 10-11am. Best in SG!
The kway is so smooth . You couldn't believe what you are paying for their generosity. Good and cheap.
Patronised this stall for over 5+ years price haven’t change since quality has always been good
All the stuff are well braised. The Kway is not diluted. It's also reasonably priced
Best kway chiap even try in sg. You can find just $2.50 chiap set in sg. Food taste good. Even Alway long queue I also willing to wait.👍👍👍
This is the best kway chap I’ve had. Intestines are clean and fresh. Tastes always consistent giving us the satisfaction each time we patronised. Cheap and good. Thumbs up!!
Good food. Cheap & nice. Must give a try if around this area. Hardly can get a nice meal for $2.50 these days. Enjoy😋👍
One of the best kway chap and served with love.
V affordable, and generous portions. But be prepared to queue for half an hour or more.
Nice and good Kway Chap. Affordable prices. But be prepared to queue.
Nice & cheap kway chap from my place lots of people queuing and around 12-1 will be all gone
Nice but a bit ex … 2 pax damaged $16 without duck meat.
Very good and cheap kway chap. Price never change even after 5 years.
Long line but its delicious and nice service.
Flavorful Kway Chap with the fried onions on top and the liao is more then the kway.
value for money. Chilli super SHIOK
Must try
Love the chilli and intestines.
Good and reasonably priced
Underrated kway chap
Excellent kway chap
