Reviews of Li Yuan Mee Pok
Ordered the mushroom minced meat noodles ($5) as well as the dumpling soup ($4). Not much of a queue at around 1:30 pm on a weekday, but there was still a steady stream of customers.
Noodles were cooked perfectly, with a balanced flavour from the chilli, vinegar and fragrant crispy lard. Some may prefer more chilli and vinegar. Portion size of the noodles were on the smaller side, but the generous toppings more than made up for it. The $5 bowl should be enough to satisfy most.
Soup was slightly sweet, with sliced cabbage, lard and minced pork accompanying the dumplings. Dumplings were slightly doughy but still well seasonsed and satisfying.
Tried the Crayfish meepok. It's omg yummy. $10 and well worth it. Minced, sliced pork and pork lard heaped over al dente meepok topped with a whole crayfish(Slipper lobster).
The noodles were nicely seasoned without the usual overly sweet ketchup-y mess favored by others.
My first time here. I have to say the taste is good. The ingredients really a lot. No regret. Happy to have tried it. Good stuff.
stall not manned by the japanese cook. the soup is nice but lots of msg inside as i feel thirsty after drinking them. the mee giak looks like mee pok is springy . one big prawn is given to the small size mee.
Got a big bowl of the traditional meepok Ba Chor Mee to try. I must say the reviews & food quality don't disappoint. As a central-south person travelling so far deep into the west; it's really worth. The noodle were springy & spice level was just nice only downside was the sauce was slightly watered down maybe due to slight miscalculation when saucing the bowl.
The soul deserves a whole review on its own. It's the epiphany of umami in a soup bowl. The ingredients used is fresh & robust. Doesn't feel like any additives were added. There is a hinge of umami from either japanese flat fish(?/or some sort of fish ingredient) which makes the soup taste like the fresh sweet good ocean!
The food is great here. Highly recommended for others to try. The taste is just a delight to my tummy. Will sure come again. No wonder heaps of people lining-up here everyday.
We ordered one traditional dry noodles and one miso soup noodles. Being a local food fan, we still loved the traditional ones. Crispy lard worked well with the well seasoned noodles. Tons of minced pork. Prawn was sweet and fresh. Total damage was 13. (5 for traditional, 7 for Japanese version)
Above average. Lots of minced pork and mushrooms. Noodles and sauce not so Spicey but acceptable. Soup really stood out. Excellent soup. Can have a quick que at lunch, but nothing unbeatable.
Got myself a bowl of Fusion mee pok with shoyu base. I could really taste both cuisine (Japanese shoyu ramen + mee pok) in one bowl. The chashu is really thick and tender. Overall it’s worth a try. Otherwise I really like their usual mee pok as well!
This is a $5 portion. Ingredients were very generous, vinegar flavor is on the heavier side so those who do not like it might want to ask for less/no vinegar. HDB Carpark right infront. Noodles were strained well after cooking, so no soggy noodles here. Overall, really the most value for money meepok I've had in a long while. Very good job.
Very generous with their ingredients. Noodles have great taste and texture. Dumpling soup is very rich and tasty. If you choose their larger serving you'll get a mountain of ingredient s that's hard to believe. Go peak if you don't want to have to queue long.
Dear Kuribara San, we are usually frequent fans ordering your big prawn noodles which is usually with prawns that are fresh, big and plump. Today we were each given 2 extremely unfresh and powdery (not just a little powdery) medium sized prawns with heads already falling off. Please do maintain your standards and don’t let lapses like this tarnish your reputation. We will still visit again and sincerely hope this is just a one-off incident. Thank you.
$4.50 for a special meepok, that comes with abalone and a prawn. Flavor balance and the meepok was cooked good. Would have given 5 stars if the prawn is more fresh..
Better than the original one near Ayer Rajah Hawker Centre. The ingredients are generous for this stall. The texture of the noodle is just right.
Abit if a queue, but fantastic meal. Nice broth, generous serving of meat /ingredients. Will definitely return
Come before 11:45 to avoid lunch crowd. Choose popular Bak Chor Mee mushroom and sauce. The Miso style soup is unique and shiok!
A Japanese fusion of a favourite Singaporean dish, the minced pork noodles. The chef is a Japanese national who migrated to Singapore to learn the art of noodle making, and boy not only did he mastered it, he took it to another level by fusing Japanese ingredients to it. A common bowl of minced pork noodles cost about $4-$5 which is not expensive, but the ingredients they gave is a lot, and it's delicious, especially the mushrooms. The fusion dish comes in both miso and shoyu soup/sauce base and it cost about $6-$10 per bowl. My personal favourite is the miso base. Although it's considered expensive if you get the $10 bowl, but considering the ingredients they gave and the taste, it's definitely worth the $10
Okay bak chor mee. $4/bowl. Mushroom is pretty salty.
Had the $10 miso dry meepok
Super delicious!!!
Hardly any queue on Wednesday before noon
Serving is quite reasonable. Prawn is fresh. Would say it's one of the better mee poh around. Instead of soya sauce, they are using a sourish ginger dip, which is quite unique.
Was drawn here by the many raving reviews, and indeed I was not disappointed. I ordered the $4 BCM and the portions (not simply the noodles) were way beyond my expectation. Gotta love the soup - only after taking my first sip did I realize why so many customers got the bigger soup bowls; I even saw a group of teens each having 2 servings of soup AND noodles (how I miss having that kind of metabolism!). Definitely coming back for more!
Great fusion of flavours and texture of noodles. Must go try at least once. Very fairly priced.
Noodle stall is a stone's throw away from my hdb flat. Personally I enjoy the Japanese and traditional Chinese noodle fusion very enjoyable. I have seen how they cook their noodles and must admit that their noodles are indeed perfection. Minced meat and mushrooms to top off the bowl of delicious noodles is also a very nice touch. Queue can be very long at times too. Take note that they also have about 2 or 3 Food King stars (can't remember exact number).
Update 28 May:- had the signature mushroom minced meat mee pok. Noodles texture just right this time. Up to 4 stars from 3.
A decent bowl of Bak Chor mee with very intense flavour but a tad salty. Would be nicer if it’s less salty and the noodles can be cooked softer.
Had the #8 item on the menu which is the Japanese fusion mee pok with miso base, dry style with chili. This was recommended by friends as a must try. It has a multi-level taste of the traditional bak chor mee pok and miso flavor. A welcome twist to this local favorite dish. The char siu is tender and easy on the bite. This dish didn’t come with mushroom so what you see in the photo is an add-on. For 50cents more, you get a small bowl of full flavored mushroom enough for 4-5 pax to share. Highly recommended for mushroom lovers. For $6 for the small portion, it’s worthy for first timers although I wouldn’t likely to have this in future. Will try the traditional one at $4 the next time.
Tasty if u can endure the long queue
Heard a lot about this Japanese family selling BCM and decided to give it a try today. I not very sure if the store is still manned by them. Ordered their Mushroom minced meat noodle which starts from SGD$4/5. Service was fast, the lady was pretty skilful as she cooked two order at the same time. For SGD$5, the portion was really generous I have to say. Comes with minced meat, meatball and even abalone slices.
Seasoning wise, the amount of vinegar used was just right, not too overpowering but enough to cut through the richness of the bowl of noodle. On the other hand, the complimentary soup that comes with the noodle, was too salty for my liking. But overall, I quite enjoyed the noodle.
Ordered the shoyu $7 selection. Sliced pork n noodles ok.. Charsiu nothing special...like any san cheng rou albeit cold. Not to my fancy.
Meatballs tasted factory made. Will give their normal bakchor Mee a try next time...maybe...
Came near lunch timing and theres still a queue, but it moves pretty fast. Got the fusion mee pok which cost $10, the portion was decent, ingredients was very generous and has a very vide variety and all nicely cooked! The noodles has great texture but maybe can do with a little more noodles for the price. 😅
Taste different from when Japanese chef was doing the cooking. No longer see them around so suspect they're no longer involved.
Sauce was too sweet ...... good for a change of taste & they're generous with the ingredients but it's not typical BCM
One of the best mee pok places to go. Noodles texture is good and the soup is not too salty. Be sure to try their japanese fusion noodles which are also delicious! 美味しそう!!
Long queue at lunch time, but the portions are generous, flavorful and didn't skimp on the toppings. I really appreciated the extra touch when the hawker carefully cleaned the edge of bowl before handing it to you.
Most of time there is a long queue. The way he makes noodle is an art performance! Sure the food is nice. My fav is #2. Very very cost friendly.
Amazing Mee Pok, Japanese style Miso or Shoyu Mee Pok available apart from their local type. Tried all and they all tasted so good. Will definitely come back for more.
God damn, the miso flavor is legit! It tastes so much like Japanese ramen! Would definitely bring ppl over to try this. the abalone + miso combination is out of this world. The char siew tho... No where close to the usual japanese char siew. Despite that, deserves 5 star solely for that broth. Legit!
order no.9 char siew with miso soup. soup was ok. ingredients ok for 10 dollars.. but felt noodles wasn't good enough. like abit too much alkaline.. didn't rinse with water
Definitely a must try! A Japaneses who mastered the art of cooking a southeast asian noodle "mee pok" and fused it with Japanese Ramen to create his own. He also serves the traditional Mee Pok and Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodle).
Love the bah chor mee here. Lots of pork fat added for flavour. Expect a long queue. You can call ahead to order if you’re intending to order 10 or more bowls/packets.
Excellent noodles. Go early or expect a queue as the chef prepare each bowl individually, meticulously. Love the miso flavour.
Located at blk 710 coffee shop, this stall capture all the human traffic of the coffee shop. Waited 30min for my noodles. The BakChorMee (bcm) is good but not the best. Ingredients has been generous; I've got plenty left even after my noodles. The sauce a little sweet though but not the typical Teo chew type. Car park is ample.
Mee pok is pretty good. It is definitely one of best in Singapore. Queue is normally quite long and I have to wait at least 15 minutes for the food to be served.
One of my most favorite BCM in SG. I usually go for the fusion miso soup. Must try for $6 (I think). The dumpling soup also not bad.
OMG! If you can stand the wait, you'll be treated to an almost ramen style mee pok that is not for the diet conscious. It doe not lack umami. Fresh ingredients and impeccably cooked noodles with a to die for broth. I can no longer stand the queue. Adios amigo.
they manage their queue quite well. food standard is still on par with japanese obasan cooking. not sure where are they but i am glad to be still able to eat this today. greatful.
Tried the Japanese fusion meepok and it was pretty good. Definitely one of the better meepok out there but you'll probably be paying more for the popularity than the actual taste.
Serving size could be bigger too.
Excellent bar Chor Mee w a twist. Not your traditional type as stated there it's a blend of Japanese w local flavour. Downside sometimes very Long que which turns me off.
Noodles had more bite to it, no alkaline taste. Overall tastes pretty good, +1 star for the service and uniqueness of the soup.
Awesome BBM #2 on the menu. The Japanese fusion #6/7 is better on soup than dry version.
Every time was crowded especially lunch time people working nearby will come to the stall to queue. The ingredients will generous for $5 portions.
The food was quite excellent, and the long queue moved rather quickly (for its length). Estimated wait time at lunchtime on a Sunday was approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Japanese fusion mee pok are amazing! Worth a trip to try. Expect a queue around 15 mins during lunch.
The noodles are good n QQ. Portion a little small for $4.
The taste of the noodles is good. The noodles comes with lots of ingredients. Generally, it's good value for money.
Lots of cats nearby, you can pet them after the meal. And before the meal. If you want, you can tabao and pet them during the meal as well.
Queue is way too long, However it's worth the wait. Delicious soup and awesome noodles😀
Nice flavour. Portion just nice not too much. Like the Japanese charsiew
Tasted Far Better When I First Visited Prolly Around 10 Years Ago~ Was A Little Disappointed Though... 😅
A little over rated, I find people just to with the flow; Just that the chef is Japanese. 3 stars for the effor
Vinegar is a bit overpowering for my liking. Nevertheless it's nice.
Nice but very very salty esp for miso and dumpling soup...
noodles are nice, for the price which includes abalone, it is worth it.
The soup is great. Noodle wise is springy.
Best minced meat noodles in singapore. Period
Quite authentic Mee Pok Dry. Will visit again.
Generous amount of mushroom and vinegary taste of the noodles.
Amazing Mee pok at amazing price!
Generous ingredients & good taste!
This is a shop run by Mr. Kurihara, who quit his job and started his own business. Even if you come to the store at 2pm, there will be no shortage of people, and it has completely captivated the locals! The gentle taste makes you feel warm ☺️
My stomach was full with so many ingredients! !
Eating Japanese-style ramen called Kurihara Mee Pork. The combination of Singapore mee pork soup with soy sauce and a subtle flavor with just enough back fat and flat noodles. Surprisingly possible! This comes with 6 pieces of thickly sliced char siu for SGD10. Normal is SGD6. There are plenty of meatballs and pork, so this is enough. Available in soy sauce and miso flavors. Try it. Regular mee pork noodles cost SGD4.
It was run by a Japanese family and had a reputation for being delicious, so I went there. I was asked if I wanted chili, but it didn't seem spicy.
I had the miso flavored dry one and it was delicious! It's far from the center and far from stations and bus stops, so it's difficult and time-consuming to get there, so you'll have to wait a while, but it's worth the trip! The soup has a strong flavor and is very delicious. As expected from a Japanese shop.
I come here when I want miso ramen.
It's delicious and great.
Mee Poku is making ends meet with a Japanese family
The line is long and it sometimes closes before 3pm.
It's worth queuing up for. To me, this place is better than the Michelin star Hillstreet. Brunch is also available.
So delicious
