Nan Yang Gemological Institute has been our ONLY go-to for minerals and crystals verification and authentication since 2021. If you’re looking for someone who has integrity, someone who is impartial, unbiased, trustworthy, look for Mr Zeng of NGI. Mr. Zeng is a meticulous, knowledgeable and approachable individual who generously shares his expertise in gemstones. I’ve personally witnessed clients from neighbouring countries sending in their pieces for authentication and verification while waiting for my gemstone reports. NGI does not value or sell any gemstones. Maintaining zero conflict of interests, ideal when looking for a gem appraiser with high credibility. Waiting time can be longer than expected, but good things are worth waiting for! Overall, NGI gemstone reports are no-nonsense, free from external influences, recording almost everything and anything observed during sophisticated tests. Being my first jadite appraisal, I've enquired many questions first on WhatsApp and the team called and answered all my questions. They were upfront with what kind of service they offer. They were able to do verbal appraisal on the same day, takes 4 days to appraise with cert for 2 of my jadeite necklaces. I did have concern about receipt of items kept with them for testing, nonetheless managed to collect my items back during collection with validation method in place. Mr Zeng also v patient & kind to guide me on my amateur questions I had on my items.

The lab concentrates on grading, they do not sell. This, is very important in order to have an unbiased view. Waiting time can be a little longer due to the number of customers. Mr Zeng is not only a very knowledgeable gemologist, he is also very patient. I had faced some disputes about a diamond being natural or lab grown. Once Mr Zeng knew about the dispute, he immediately took time to cautiously check the diamond and gave me a verbal appraisal. When asked how long would it take for a certificate to be made, he knew the urgency of things and put a rush on the certificate. Mr Zeng then explained to me what would have caused a dispute and how misunderstandings could have occurred. I now have a better understanding on the advancement of the different equipments used to check to determine if a diamond is natural or lab grown.

I went to NGI to check details of Columbia emerald with GRS certificate . I wanted more detailed information especially on transparency , clarity , inclusion etc which GRS lab does not describe in detail. Zeng and team was very helpful . They explained to me in detail even with magnifying screen . And I wanted to do express .. to get it done in 2 hours since I can’t leave stone for days to get a written report . I am very happy with the additional information that I wanted to know in very detail. Highly appreciate the service done . I will go back in future should I’m interested in future previous stones .

Very professional services and I've working with Master Zeng for a long time.

I have been going here to verify my diamonds and gemstones. They have always never failed to deliver results. Bear in mind that the si-fu here is mandarin speaking, he has however many years of experience under his belt. For vocal verification it can take an hour or a few days depending on their workload, it’s best to call in and ask. Certificate usually takes a week or two, due to more stringent tests performed. All I can say is that I’m impressed!
