Reviews of No.1 Western Food
Ordered chicken cutlet and a pork chop at $7 each. Cutlet portion is gd, it’s tender and juicy, however the fries is not crispy. Rather pathetic presentation. I counted there are only 11 piece of French fries on my plate! No veg/coleslaw option. Pork chop also has got little fries on it as you can see in the picture. Ps, had a bite of the chicken cutlet before taking picture for review.
I don’t mind coming back again for the chicken cutlet meat alone.
Delicious chicken cutlet that is nicely marinated, lightly breaded and goes well with the tomato gravy. Fries were not crispy and tasteless. Might have forgotten to salt it. Could add a bit more fries and baked beans at $7.
Old school western food with a great taste! You have to try it to believe it.
Sauce for the different dishes was served from the main container and it goes very well with every one of them. It must be their secret recipe that it goes so well with every dish.
Worth the wait and this is already my second visit. Definitely will not be the last!
Glad to have tried this awesome old school western food at Tanglin halt! Portions are huge and the chicken cutlet and fish and chips were yummy! Their special sauce indeed makes them stand out from the other western stalls.
One of my favourite western food stalls around. Amazing chicken cutlet made-to-order, well marinated with killer tomato-ey sauce to accompany it. Not quite sure if they’ll be moving elsewhere with the imminent redevelopment of Tanglin Halt.
Saw a post a few days ago so come and support today.
photos in the post and the actual being very different aside.
Had a steak at SGD7.
This stall has its own sauce, it is not bad and has its own character. Just a little salty for my preference.
Food is nice. But uncle attitude very rude. Take more chilli he ask his wife to charge me these chillis. That is unheard of. His tone was rude some more. Because of this I do not patronise his stall anymore.
This is one of the old school western food in the new building (I have yet to try the other one). Ordered one chicken chop for each of us.
The chicken piece was small, the sauce was old school (may be good for some, but it is underwhelmed for us), the generic fries were of small portion.
For the pricing, one would expect the portion to be larger.
Pretty forgettable western fare. The only good was that the Chicken cutlet was well fried but the batter were over salty, the side fries were contrastingly totally unsalted and were probably mixed with some very old batches with its much darker colour and hard as stone bite. Even the rave about accompanying sauce on the meat was also underwhelming as the over-saltiness of the crust totally dominated the taste.
Chicken chop was nicely grilled. Not dry. Has a really good grill flavour throughout. Tender and juicy. Sauce tastes old school. Had it with rice. Good meal!
Old school western food in hawker centre setting. Delicious and economical. I had the lamb chop that came with fries, baked beans and fresh cucumber and tomato slices, draped in a brown sauce. My lamb was nicely grilled but a bit salty
Best chicken cutlet in Singapore! Certainly worth the money as you get a HUGE slab for $6. I didn't think I'd be able to finish it but I cleaned my plate up, it was that good. The chicken's very well-fried so it's not jelat even when you reach the end. The fries are crisp too when usually those fat crinkly fries you get from western food stalls are soggy and not nice. Their special sauce = strangely addictive.
Service was quite fast and chef was efficient and organised. Store was clean. Served on a metal plate which was quite unique. I had fish and chips. Comes with usual baked beans and cucumber. The fish was flaky and soft, while skin was crispy.
Strange thing is the gravy they pour at the side which is more like a homemade 🍅 based sauce. Sweeter than usual 🍅 ketchup. I would have preferred mayo or tartar. I will try something different next time.
Yup. This is the original Tanglin Halt Western food store that I've patronised for years. Still great food and unbeatable value. Highly recommended!
Pls note the very short opening hours they operates. Best to Google before going down..
ordered the steak and chix chop, both were good and value for money, old skool western stall, always loved the crinkled fries, its a pity that the hawker centre will be closed soon so hurry on down fast if u are a westie;)
Old school hawker centre, fantastic food, $5.50 each
$5.5-6.5 very nice westen food.
Amazing sauce that makes this western stall unique and memorable. Was special 15 years ago at Margaret Drive, is still special now.
Value for money chicken chop with rice...
Chicken cutlet is crispy on the outside n so so tender on this inside. Love it. Plus the serving is HUGE!!!!
Long Q, well marinated food, worth a try when at this Food Centre
Good prices and big portion. Old school western food
Decent plate of chicken cutlet, portion is big

We tried the pork chop and chicken cutlet. I personally preferred the chicken cutlet.
