Reviews of Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee 新加坡炒福建虾面
Are U Hungry 😋?
One of my favourite ❤️ Heritage Food : Fried Hokkien Mee ! 😋
Stall : Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee #01-32
@ blk 90 Whampoa Food Centre.
Whampoa Drive.
This afternoon, I had a 2hrs of massage in the vicinity for my tired leg 🦵 + body ; after rejuvenated, it’s dinner time ! 😅😜
Came to the market and greeted my new friend bro, James Yong as he opened his stall and was slicing the banana leaves for his BBQ business and I decided let’s give his Hokkien Mee a try, little did I know that he actually goes to the mother’s stall to take for me, I ordered a $5.00 version.
Indeed, he literally “jumped Q” and bought on my behalf … that’s so “pai sei” lah ! I had thought he shall cook for me, what he meant was “he can short-circuit the Q” if order through him … that’s the power of networking ! 😮 🤩 👍 ⭐️
Had a quickie video clip 🎥 done ☑️ + photography 📱 and it simply tasted 👅 great as I chopsticks 🥢 the noodles 🍜 and savoury the goodness of the broth, richness of prawny 🍤 infusion that created the euphoria of the umami flavours; it’s the soul of the dish and the viscosity of the blending of noodles : yellow Mee + slightly agile thicker vermicelli, it was pre-fried b4 hand to create the softness in them … a generous portion indeed !😯 🤩 👍 ⭐️
It’s powerful chillies 🌶️, homemade and tweaked recipes for localised taste 👅 and texture was the other talking point, extra for me personally request and it’s heavenly great pairing ! With 3 Ang Har (red prawns 🍤) for its sweetness and robustness + quite a number of sotong; pork lard too but no pork belly ; James shared that his family decided to do away with Pork belly as more people become health conscious and some like it whilst some don’t … Thus, dropped it altogether …from the Hawkers’ mouth 👄 can’t go wrong and makes good business sense.
After finished my meal, I popped by at his mum’s stall and taken some photography and showcase the “majestic” feel of her standing and taking orders high up ! It’s been truly a heritage of family business of at least 3 decades or more … and happy to note even their grandson came to help as he did the pre-frying ; start them young ! (OJT since it’s school term break) …😮 🤩 👍 ⭐️
Come, support and highly recommended to savoury the goodness of the stall’s Fried Hokkien Mee; look at the long Q … U shall probably agreed why it’s Singapore 🇸🇬 Top Fried Hokkien Mee !
To me, probably top 5 or better … 😅😜; feeling very satisfied with the meal and doing my little part to share … preview the unedited video clip + photos collage ! Enjoy 😊
Cheers 🥂

The Michelin Bib Gourmand Hokkien Mee at Whampoa Market is renowned for its quality and efficiency. Despite the long queue, it moves quickly, reflecting the popularity and smooth operation. With plenty of seating available in the market, you can comfortably enjoy this well-regarded dish without much hassle.
Ordered $10.
Pretty average fried prawn mee with 4 prawns, didn’t managed to taste any squids. Added crushed pork lard enhanced the taste.
Been eyeing on this outlet for very long looking at the long que outside, finally tried and tested. Indeed the prawn noodles in yum and definitely try next time when in Singapore.
Definitely a must try! Was lucky when we went as we only queued for 10 mins. For $5, not bad.
A popular hokkien mee stall that is listed in the Michelin bib gourmand. There is usually a queue of 7 to 15 pax but the wait is still bearable around 15 to 30mins, as they fry in batches with 2 woks in parallel. An aunty stands on top of a raised platform shouting down the queue to take orders. Do be alert and not miss replying your orders. After taking the orders, she walks down to collect the payment. Wondering why not just take the orders and collect payment together.
Prices start from $5 to $15, and I ordered the $6 portion. It comes with 3 decent sized prawns that are quite fresh and some chewy fresh squid. Their hokkien mee style is the wet style, with a flavourful umami gravy. The noodles are well cooked and absorbed the rich flavour of the gravy. Chilli tastes normal to me, not too spicy.
Remember to request for the crispy pork lard. I would give a 5 star if there is a rating for pork lard.
Tastes really good! Chewy noodles doused in rich fragrant sauce. Their chilli is quite spicy and complements the wet noodles very well 👍
Its the dry kind of hokkien mee with wok hey. Sad it doesn't have pork lard.
Queue may be long but it's fast! Slightly pricey but worth cause it's so tasty!! $5 portion is barely enough honestly
Currently one of the top Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles. We ordered $6 and $5. Definitely better than Kim’s at Eunos.
Used to dislike the Hokkien mee at this stall as I remembered it to be tasteless and expensive. However, my impression changed after my most recent visit. The noodles were noticeably wetter this time. Stock was tasty and full of umami flavour. Prawns and squid were fresh. It was so good that I didn’t need to stir in the chilli, unlike previous times when I needed the chilli to enhance the flavour of the dish, and to mask the alkaline taste of the noodles. Not sure if they changed cooks, but the noodles tasted different this time round. Will definitely patronise again if they maintain this standard.
You definitely can’t miss this stall as they occupied 2 units in the hawker center in the food center. This stall seems pretty popular as there was a queue shortly after they start operation. The fried Hokkien mee comes in several portions and prices starts from SGD$4 onward.
I had the smallest portion which was SGD$4. The plate of Hokkien mee came with a few pieces of squid, and 2 tiny prawns. Squid wasn’t that fresh, texture was soft. Their Hokkien mee is the wetter type kind. Noodle did manage to soak up all the goodness of the broth however something just felt lacking in terms of taste. They provide both the sambal and sliced chili.
Best plate of Hokkien Mee in Singapore!
Moist, fragrant and superb chilli. 😃😃
Definitely worth the long queue (quite fast too). If you have yet to try this stall, you have yet to try the best!
I didn't use to be a hokkein mee person, but this made me more open to it now.
Each plate is bursting with flavour, chili is just the perfect amount and the perfect taste. The serving is actually quite huge, complete with a few pieces of shrimp and some slices of sotong. The egg mixed in is just nicely cooked and flavoured.
Hawker is a bit hot and be prepared for a long queue. Is it worth it though? I dare say yes.
Definitely better than your average Hokkien Mee. Long line ups but it moves relatively quickly. Worth checking out.
By far one of the most popular stalls in Whampoa Hawker Centre (almost every second table during dinner hour had a plate of this Hokkien mee). The Hokkien mee errs more towards the dry version but it was still pretty flavourful! The portion was quite large too.
Very good Hokkien mee.
Especially since they open till late at night, worth a visit if you have late-night cravings for it.
Chilli is a bit on the spicier side, but the broth is flavourful!
It’s an above average hokkien Mee and value-for-money considering I got a big plate for $5. Chilli is good, queue is fast and the sauce is full of flavour though it still lacks wok hei.
Always long queue but service is pretty fast. try to avoid peak hours. Better to eat at the hawker centre than to ta-bao.
Fragrant plate of Hokkien mee but a little salty.
Queue had about 10 ppl on a Monday night at 1030pm. Waited for about 15 min.
I heard that the aunty was a little fierce.
One of the oldest Hokkien Mee stalls around (You can no longer register a hawker stall name with the word "Singapore" in it - This shows the age of the stall)
However, whilst the stall has loads of heritage, the flavor of the Hokkien Mee is not much of a standout. To be fair, it's not a bad dish, but the execution and rendition is nothing spectacular. The service is also not the most friendly or approachable, as several others have mentioned before too.
The Hokkien Mee comes with cut chili and the chili sauce at the side is packed with garlic. These add some dimension to the dish but otherwise it's quite a plain normal hokkien mee, quite indistinguishable from any other hawker stall.
Do try it for the heritage (do mind the Queues!), But don't have high expectations!
Super Excellent
Overall rating 9/10
Queue was long but it was fast served within 5 mins
Except this bloody old uncle cut the queue and come in front of me, silly idiot!
There is one of the signature stalls in Whampoa food centre. Usually long queue.
Very tasty and decent portion.
I expected better given its reputation and queue. It's above average by local standards, but not that special when you consider the reputation given to it. It certainly did not wow me.
The dish is pretty wet and the gravy is slightly on the muted end. The chilli is a little different from the usual, with perceptible shrimp bits in it. There was no wok hei in the dish, which disappointed me.
The queue although long, moves along faster than expected given the stall cooks the food by the wok before portioning it out.
Above average plate of hokkien mee with wokhey. They open quite late - which is another plus point. Be prepared to queue as it's quite popular.
Not bad.
Was quite underwhelming. Short queue but they cook in batches. Lack wok hei taste and was quite bland. Chili has a good kick. Think the difference between $5 and $6 is the pork lard.
Delicious hawker food. Nothing more to ask for. There's always a long q but they serve pretty quickly as 1 big wok can serve many customers.
Always a long queue.. and I remembered I queued a few times before.. but they never made an impression (all those times).
Decided to give this a try again and was pleasantly surprised. They are not quite the wok hey 🔥 type.. they are more braised instead.. but very flavorful.
I did ask for extra chili 🌶️ but found it better off without it. $10 portion.
One of the best wet Hokkien Mee. Portion good and didn’t have to wait long for it even though long queue
Think of Hokkien Mee, of course is Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee @ Whampoa Market.
Listed as one of the best Fried Hokkien Mee in Sg. I wonder why. The Q is definitely long. But the end product is so so. Did not feel it was above standard compared with the rest of FHM.
A bit of over rated
Is just a simple plate of fried noodle with prawn (have to be $8 at least, one pax )
Don’t get scam by those oldie newspaper stick on the wall.
That was long long time ago where police still wear Bermudas
Above average hokkien mee. Good that it opens at late night
The Hokkien mee is superb when is takeaway as the sauce are absorbed nicely into the noodles. But if is eaten at there, the flavour is different and noodle is wetter.
The food here is fantabulous!!! A twenty minutes - thirty minutes worth of wait is all super return on investment! 6 stars for going over and beyond!!
One of the best Singapore fried hokkien mee in Singapore. I choose the 10 dollar one.
Must eat it piping hot from the stall! The long queue moves faster than it looks when they are in full production. I just like their belachan chilli with fresh cut chilli and lime to top it off. Usually just wallop it in less than 10 minutes, some things cannot wait.
Long que, taste abit sweet then Johor version. Overall better order $6 if you choose $8, portion is tar bigger abit only.
Standard has dropped tremendously but its still a decent serve at an affordable price. But three small prawns for a $5 packet is really pathetic.
Mediocre... We bought 2 big plates for $6 each. No pork pieces, no wokhey. Not value for money. Don't understand the queue
I love the thick traditional taste of Hokkian Mee that come with each plate of the delicious piping hot noodles. The quality is consistent too. Thumbs up!
Above average fried hokkien mee. They have their fan-base, hence the queue. Service is good and efficient.
Super nice Hokkien mee! The gravy texture is just right to coat the noodles well. Very sinful but super tasty
Great hokkien mee. Auntie stands on a stool to take your orders.. Fragrant and well cooked.. Ask for extra pork lard.. Compliments the taste better
from Malaysian perspective, considered good and special taste, can’t find this kind of serving in Malaysia so far.
Portion was good queue moves very fast. For the price and serving you cant have much complains
No wok hey & without pork & pork lard. Came to sample cos it opens late. Unlikely to patronize again.
Not the best but better than average kind of Hokkien mee.
My favourite Singapore Hokkein Mee. U will not regret it here. Make sure u haf it wit d sambal
Our regular stall fof hokkien mee. The best hokkien mee
Delicious. Recommend to bring your own chopsticks and spoon.
It's great. Full of flavour not too expensive
Served a wide variety of Japanese sushi. They are very tasty !
Wide range of prices a bit misleading.....above average food though
Average noodle.
My all time favourite!
Hi girl u so sweet so grateful
Loved it!
Good and yummy. 👍👍👍
Creamy and delicious!
A famous Fried Hokkien Mee restaurant located at "Whampoa Hawker Center" 💡 The taste of the noodles mixed with the seafood soup is exquisite 😋 A gem that you can hardly find in Japan ☺️
