Reviews of Yong Xiang Xing Dou Fu
The last time I visited this stall was before 2010. Now it is $6 per bowl standard. Cannot choose. But the taste is still as awesome if not better! The queue is super long though … but fast moving … due to only one standard dish to order. Taste-wise, super good 👍🏻
Have visited this place before on my trips to Singapore and with a one day layover, I had to make sure I paid another visit. Coming from the airport, we did arrive at about 2pm and unfortunately they had just closed cause they sold out of the meat. The lady at the store did offer to give us two bowls for free (with no meat) which was still super delicious.
Queue was long with at least 20 people ahead of me at 1pm on a Thursday. But still, I was excited to try this traditional Yong tau Fu which I used to eat when I was young.
Located at peoples park, the store serves up one of the tastiest YTF in Singapore.
Fixed at $6 per bowl, it has also a fixed variety of items in the delicious soup. Do not forget the chilli, it adds a punch to all the tofu, taupok, fishball, etc.
For those wanting a no frill simple non-greasy lunch, this is the food to aim for.
Do expect to be queuing for some time. Menu is simple — Just one item, Yong tau foo soup at $6.
When it’s your turn to order, just let them know how many bowls you want, pay & wait for your food.
Soup is plain & simple, but pairing it with the fresh ingredients, worth the wait.
Open exactly at 12.15 and there’s already > 50 people queuing. But once they open, queue clears really fast. There are 4 types - fish ball, ngoh hiang, tofu - fried and steam. All at $6 each bowl with soup (no noodles). Original will have all 4 ingredients but you can opt out for some (I ordered a bowl with only tofu while another original). So worth the queue especially the tofu, texture is silky perfect yet firm. Soup is simple yet flavourful. You must really try to truly understand why people queue. Highly recommended.
This is a legendary stall at People's Park Food Centre. They make the yong tau foo themselves next door. There's no carbohydrates that come with the yong tau foo. Each bowl currently costs $6 (Oct 2024) and there is a substantial number of pieces within (I didn't count).
Although the queue is long, it moves really quickly and the team is trained like clockwork. If you are in the area and they are open, I strongly recommend you to try what traditional yong tau foo actually tastes like.
Ngoh Hiang is a bit salty. Everything else is good. Worth queuing 10-15 mins for. Long Q hut move fast
Started queuing at 11.40am when the stall was still preparing the food. Luckily today they started selling at around 12pm (instead of 12.30pm). Once they started selling, the queue moving quickly, mainly because there was only one dish available, a bowl of Yong Dao Fu (YDF) soup at $5, no rice, noodle or bee hoon. No time wasted in choosing what to order, only how many to order.
The Ngoh Hiang was the best of the YDF, the rest were good but not outstanding. Chilli was good and went well with the YDF.
Overall, a good bowl of YDF and worth queuing for no more than 15min.
This place always has a long q. Not sure why. It isn't amazing. Pretty salty. Good but not sure why people would wait in line for it. Was really interested why people would wait and thought it would be a lot better than this.
2019:
排队,就只为了一碗醸豆腐!
2023:
Not being here since 2019 and was so surprised at the short queue during lunch peak. It may be an one off or due to the following:
1) they used to have this unique queue to order and serve to you system which they no longer practice now. This essentially deter the old folks from patronizing since this is a soupy dish which the old system serve well to folks who doesn't move steadily.
2) no more 2-tier pricing. I don't remember their old pricing but their current standard price of $6 for 10 pieces is definitely too big a portion for some.
3) I used to like their minced meat topping on the tofu but now they uses meat paste instead. Still a good bowl of YTF but not one worth queueing for and possibly why the short queue.
Very old style Yong tau foo
Going at $6 per bowl now
No rice nor noodles
Sold out everyday...
Do come eat before such dishes disappear after this generation stop working
Soup was good, ingredients reasonable for price, and most are handmade.
One of the best in sgp
Super long queue ! they only start selling at 1pm and the long queue started at 12:40pm.
i really love the yong tau foo. it is soft nice and tasty.
they finished selling before 3pm.
Old time stall, fast service and hassle free, taste wise nothing to shout about, will only have it if it's along the way, would not make my way down just to have it.
Business starts at 1pm and the queue is already Long. For take away or dine in, it’s the same queue.
Once your turn, the staff will ask you dine-in or take away. For takeaway, they will ask you to wait on the left by the fan. For dine in, they will ask you for the table number. Once you pay, sit and wait. It’s very fast.
The ingredients are standard, no noodles. You can ask for bigger bowl. The chili and ketchup are premixed and delivered.
This is one of the most traditional food, been visiting since 30 years back.
4 stars for the portion and taste, 1 star for having to queue haha.
A very hearty bowl of soup, no noodles or rice. The stall only takes orders by the number of bowls you want.
I like the fried fish cake thingy, the other liao like tofu and fishball not mind blowing. Guess i prefer ampang ytf style. Honestly will only eat if don’t have to queue 1hour for it! Go earlier to avoid the lunch crowd!
SAW THE LONG “Q” SO DECIDED TO EAT SOME HEARTY SOUP WITH THE BEST MIX OF TOFU WE HAD IN A WHILE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND 👍🏼
😋🙂😙 The soup base not bad, just right amount of salt and light sauce . The ingredients for $4.50 👍. Not too heavy if you don't want heavy meal during lunch. 😋🙂😙
Nice YTF although prices has gone up. The line is still very long. Start join queue/line at around 12pm. No choice of ingredients. All standard, no noodles. $5 per bowl
Visited on a weekday afternoon and was greeted by a snaking queue. Queue moved pretty quickly and to my surprise, this yong tau foo stall doesn’t serve any rice or beehoon! Was worried that it won’t be filling but boy was I wrong. Soup was light and simple, ingredients are all delicious, soft and flavourful. Portion size is ideal for asians and I found myself back queueing again in the following week 😂
Best yong tau foo in the area 👌🏽🥢🥢🥄🥄
Better to be there before it open
Long queue
Recommendable
It’s a must try
For a bowl of Yong Tua Foo cost $6, A bit pricey. Today fried item on dark side. Very good Business, not friendly at all. This is an old neighbourhood hawker maybe $5 for a bowl of yong Tua Foo are more reasonable.
The best Yong tau foo in Singapore. Such homely, traditional & authentic taste. I usually replace the fishball with the other stuff. The fried beancurd skin stuffed fish is just so delicious and the bean curds are so soft! The chill/sweet sauce combined.. no words! Absolutely a must eat!
Long time fan of this OG of Cantonese Yong Tau Fu. Back after a long while and nothing has changed except price increase which is now $6/serving but no complaints. They only open 3hrs and while stocks last. Good old school hearty YTF. Love this place.
Ate recently, price at $5. 4 types only. Best is the ngoh hiang roll n fried dou Fu. Soup n chilli are good. Long queue.
18/11/23 11.45 am went there not open yet. Price now $6.
Find it expensive as there are other options.
Inside People's Park hawker centre. Warm and humid and need to queue for few minutes. Fixed price and no choosing. Anyway all taste nice and fresh. Soup after taste won't feel thirsty.
1 queue for takeaway another for eat-in.
I give this 5 star in my review...
First of all, i been working long time in Singapore and Yong tau fu is my choice to get if i go to food court, I been eating yong tau fu long time and every time the yong tau fu inside the food court have the same taste.
When i went to Chinatown hawker place, I see people queuing for this particular yong tau fu and i also went for a que and order it.
The taste is delicious, and both my wife and i like it very much. For the price point, it was good in value and you can eat delicious yong tau fu and order a set.
I like the Kangkung, they have their own special sauce and make it tasteful (I think contains peanuts, so if you alergic to peanuts, please dont take it).
They also provided noodles and i like the noodles because it nice and compliment the yong tau fu.
My advise, go there and try it yourself. You will know what i mean.
Thanks
Love the food here, might be difficult for non-locals to find
one of the freshest yong tau hu in town and you can ask them for special order such as more of specific pieces. They are able to packed it cold if you want to dabao for keeping for consumption a few hours later or even next day (simple to reheat)
Today lunch at Chinatown. This stall is super long queue but very fast serving speed. The ingredients are fresh and yummy. We love it! :)
Good soup with Yong Tau Fu. No Mee Hoon or noodle. Good portion of a quick snack 👍
The line is always long, 10-20 waiting. The food is pretty good. Soup is clean and light. S$5 a bowl.
Standard bowl of 10 small pcs. Fresh and soft. No noodle. Soup is light and tasty.
Always super long queue! The yong tau foo are delicious.
Good yong tau fu but without rice or noodles. Still very tasty.
Delicious and cheap food
Fantastic food but operating hours are short!
very good yong tau foo in chinatown
Longest queue. Cannot be wrong to join.
Best
It’s delicious even without the chili sauce. It tastes a lot like Taiwan’s Oden. It’s the only option without the menu.
Simple delicious food, long queue but quick service. $6 fixed set.
The best Yong Tau Foo
really delicious
