Reviews of Zhi Xiang Special Lor Mee 智翔特制滷麵
Went to this lor mee stall at TPY block 93 becoz of the positive reviews. I ordered a standard bowl of $4.00 without any add on.
The taste is average, nothing outstanding. Price is cheap. Can try.
While the queue can get long, the queue moves very quickly thanks to the uncle that is super efficient workflow. The place seems to accept cash only.
I opted for the lor mee with extra ingredients. The gravy is slightly sweet and not too thick. The ingredients were fresh and crispy.
Condiments like garlic, coriander, vinegar and chilli is self serve.
Loved this lor mee from the block 93 Lorong 4 Toa Payoh Market and Hawker Center. The gravy is thick and flavorful, pork is shredded and not fatty which I like, comes with deep fried yam fritters which is quite unique. Have been coming back for their lor mee since 2008 when moved to Toa Payoh.
really enjoyed the lor mee here! they’ve also added yam crisps which i’ve never seen in a bowl of lor mee before. the yam crisps enhances the taste with a slightly sweet surprise element when paired with the gravy :)
not a fan of fatty meat too so it’s good that the meat was lean and cut into thin slices.
will definitely be back to order the bigger bowl of $5 instead!
Tried this popular Lor Mee stall in TPY that are well known for the fried yam fritters. Noodle starts from SGD$3 onward, do take note that the $3 portion does not comes with the yam fritter.
the gravy has a thick consistency and very aroma. Taste wise, could be better. its come with the standard topping like braised egg, fishcake slices and nor hiang. Not the best bowl of lor mee i had to date but its a pretty decent bowl i would said.
One of the better Lor Mee I had so far, lady boss was really nice to serve it to me too.
Wheelchair accessibility wise, not the best place as the space between tables are rather narrow. I didn't manage to find any accessible table either, had to obstruct the way of others while having my meal.
My sister highly recommended this lor mee with fried yam fritters. Lots of meat, fishcake and half an egg. The crispy fried yam fritters is very nice. Missing fish meat. Add chilli, vinegar and parsley. Yums
My rating 4.5 / 5
The bowl of gooey mess is full of flavours from the black vinegar, garlic and spices. This stall's specialty is a bowl of fried yam. It's sweet and looks like fried mamee and goes very well with the starch stock.
Favourite go to place for Lor Mee. Mainly due to the crispy yam bits provided.
Can order small bowl for $3 or big bowl for $4. Definitely go for the big bowl unless you have a small appetite.
I like that the lady taking orders remembers l don't want beansprouts and vegetables. The sauce is tasty, the thick yellow noodles topped with half an egg, fishcake, ngoh hiang and pork belly.
You can choose to have chilli with your Lor Mee which adds flavour to the rich sauce when mixed in.
The best part of the dish is the crunchy yam bits provided that I like to dip into the sauce and eat. A must try if you are in Toa Payoh and craving for Lor Mee during lunch time.
It has its distinctive taste n recipe that is delightful. Not so crowded hawker center that I like
Typically I don't enjoy lor mee but I do like this due to the service and least starchy gravy. I can also have beehoon instead. YUMMY!!
Good lor mee; a bit lighter and less greasy than most. Fishcake, ngoh hiang and pork toppings and a crispy yam(?) fritter on the side.
Only lor mee I know with crispy yam on top. Must try! Love the flavours and the thick sauce. Owner is extremely friendly and always helps with adding condiments (would't recommend doing it yourself because she knows the best ratio of chilli, garlic, coriander to vinegar)
This one very very nice. Crunchy fried yam is super nice. The noodles and gravy also super nice. Weekend favorite for makan.
Decent local neighbourhood lor mee that delivers with the tried and tasted combination of Chili, garlic and savoury Lor mee broth.
The lor mee paste here is not very starchy and the highlight is really the fried yam bits that gives the dish a satisfying crunch with every bite.
This lor mee is considered quite good, the gravy is flavourful and it has this unique yam fritters to go along very well when it's slightly soaked in the gravy. Worth eating when you are around the area.
Bought $5 portion for takeaway as it seemed that prices start from $4. The lor is not flavourful enough. The fried balls of yam shreds interestingly dispersed in the mouth after a quick soak in the lor. It's crispy if you eat it on its own. The portion comes with shreds of braised skinless duck meat, sliced fish cake, ngoh hiang and one braised egg in halves. Queue moves fast at weekday lunch hour.
No extra charge for takeaway unless you require the hard plastic container.
Only the yam is nice. The regular loh mee is just normal. Would prefer the braised pork to be well braised. Should not have fish cakes.
Excellent lor mee. The special ingredient which looks like deep fried mami noodles , compliment to the dish nicely. Portion is small but it's nice not feeling starched out afterwards. I also like how authentic the market still is,. it's been refurbished but still retains the feel of the original market.
Love their lor mee. Friendly staff! Lady asked if i want the noodle to be packed separately. I prefer the noodle to soak in the lor. One of my comfort food
Super nice couple running this store. The lady remembers my husband's preferences very well, even though he's not a super regular and not by my side. Best loh mee in Toa Payoh. She's very flexible with your demands too
Definitely top 5. The ngoh hiang is flavourful and tge gravy just nice. Mysteriously there is no queue.
Superb flavour. Thick broth. This is how lot Mee should taste like.
Very friendly proprietors. Speciality is deep fried yam strips together with the noodles which is out of this world
Nice traditional lor mee. Love the fried yam chips. Good tasting.
Food okay. Prices gone up a lot, $4 onwards. Inflation. Pay more for same amt ingredients. Try if u are around this area
Very good lor mee, comparable to Xin Mei Xiang Zheng Zong lor mee at Old Airport road. Portion a little small but very nice, definitely will come again.
really good lor mee for breakfast. order the special to get the fried yam
Good lor mee to try out. The owners is very friendly to serve us..Keep it up
