Boneless Ayam Penyet @ Zoul’s Corner The serving size is huge, and while the chicken is pretty good and they’re VERY generous with crumbs, there are better chicken alternatives. The rice however, was savoury and flavorful, which was something I didn’t expect! I was slightly disappointed that there was no curry but it finally made sense. The price, however, is higher than usual and comparable to higher tier Ayam Penyet places despite being located in a Kopitiam. Though I must admit, it’s unique compared to other Penyet Places. Kambing soup was super rich too, but it’s not really my thing. 8/10

The quality of the food matches the photo of Chef Azhar with the tall hat! I decided to give the stall a try as it was just across the road from my place. At first I thought it only serves Nasi Ayam Penyet but there are other things on the menu. Light meals like soto and bakso as well as freshly fried servings of miscellaneous nasi goreng and a long list of penyet dishes. We tried the bee hoon soto, soto ayam, nasi ayam black pepper and nasi ayam belado. The soto gravy was light and flavoursome, and the sambal kicap added a nice balance of spiciness to the dish. the shredded chicken was real shredded chicken with no bones or skin. nice. The nasi ayam rice was lightly flavoured with chicken broth and sesame oil. the chicken quarter pieces were of decent size and fried to a nice crisp with juicy insides. the gravy, both the black pepper and belado were very well balanced. I will definitely support this shop.

Freshly fried chicken but have to wait for 10 mins even if no queue.. Suppose to be ayam penyet but seems to be just nasi ayam goreng. Not sure where did the chicken get smashed to have the unique tastiness that the smashed chicken usually have. For the price point of $8.5 is steep when the ingredients are just a fried chicken thigh with 2 piece of tahu goreng.

Takeaway nasi goreng ayam penyet. Chicken was huge and juicy and crispy and goes very well with the fried rice. Sambal was at the right level of spiciness for me. Highly recommended will come again soon.

Tried the Nasi Ayam Penyet and it was pretty good! Rice was fragrant. Chicken came with 2 pieces of chicken drumstick, crispy and juicy. Chilli is tangy & spicy.

Zoul's Corner is a must-try for any Indonesian food lover. Their ayam penyet is definitely the star of the show – juicy, flavourful, crispy chicken accompanied with very fragrant rice, crispy bit, and a variety of sambal sauces - had the belado and it was good, although I'd have loved a spicier kick. Tahu goreng was also good, with flavourful gravy and fresh veggies. Will certainly be back to try out their other offerings - heard their tom yum mee goreng is good too!
