Reviews of 308 鱼爐之家 (308 Fish Steamboat and Zhi Char)
It’s so surprised to us since it’s the first time I eat this kind of fish hot pot.
There 3 size hot pot and the small size is definitely enough for 2 person.
We ordered 红斑炉 and the soup is sooooo good it’s milky, rich and have cabbage and doufu and taro by default. The longer it boiled the richer flavor it got.
The fish has no bones and it so fresh and just boiled for several minutes and it’s ready to eat. The has spinach also and it taste good when together with the milky soup.
After having this big dinner I felt healthier 😂😂😂
I will definitely come again!
01-10-2022 second time here!
Curry fish is good with rice ! Fish is soft and tender. The fish is really fresh.
The pork liver is soooo soft that is just cooked righteous! A little bit salty.
Overall I think the 鱼头炉is the best!
I eat this last year @ December now then post review. Peiseh sia but this really not bad !!! Both parrot fish head curry and groupa fish head hot pot is good sia. Thumbs up!! But the steam prawn is no no to me. It’s abit over cook and it’s very salty. The rest is good. Thumbs up!!!
Ordered their famous lobster cold dish and seafood superior pot. The servings are generous and big enough for 10 pax. Two other worthy orders are the steamed wrasse fillet - meat is fresh and succulent - and the claypot pig liver which is simply tender!
Other items ordered as in the pictures. Nothing impressive, especially the cereal crayfish. The portion is little and also too salty.
Located in the heartlands of Clementi Ave 4. There is a bus 284 from Clementi bus interchange to this Zi Char stall in a coffee shop.
They are well known for their fish steamboat soup. You can choose to have milk in your soup base or not. From their board, you can choose to have grouper, red snapper and their catch of the day. Their fish is fresh and the soup tasted flavorful with vegetables like yam and cabbage. I tried a recommended chewy fish, I could not remember the name of it but it sure is chewy. Unfortunately I do not fancy the texture of said fish. Tip for your soup to boil faster, cover the soup with it's lid.
I ordered an extra portion of cabbage and it goes really well with the soup. As it is a Zi Char stall, I ordered Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs which has the right balance of sweetness and sourish flavor. Pork has been marinated well, even though it's being fried, the meat is still moist and tender. The other dish I tried was the meat roll called Ngoh Hiang. Their version differs with each piece has been coated with flour and fried individually.
Overall this stall has decent food and fresh fish but it is quite overpriced. These dishes amount to $88. I don't recommend coming over just to try as there is a better tasting and affordable stall at Taman Jurong Food Centre. It's great for those staying nearby but it isn't worth traveling down for.
Amazing seafood, love the San Lou hor fun. Seems like fish is a speciality here! Will def go back to try the hot pot! Order the Ku lu yok too! It wont be soggy at the end of the meal
Yummy zi char at affordable prices. So far, I've only bought these yummy food "to go" and they are pretty good, with "wok hey" for its "zi char carbs". Enjoyed the pork ribs too. I'll try its fish steamboat in the future and update on the review.
Ordered fish head steamboat (med size) $100. Enough for 6person. The slice fish were quite thick and fresh. The soup comes with fried fish. They even gave a extra soup for top up.
Overall the soup is tasty. No regrets. However it's a little on a pricey side.
For the rest of the zi cha, there is nothing much to rave about.
For weekend dinner, you will have to book. Lots of people.
Food is great as always.
Remember to make a reservation before going.
Their steamboat options are great too.
Able to speak English which is a great positive for a non mandarin speaker like me.
I've eaten there a couple of times and their fish steamboat is really tasty. However the TWO times I have 4 to 5 pax and we ordered the small steamboat and when we were paying the bill, we were told the steamboat was the medium size. In order not to cause a scene, we paid up in full. A caution to diners - if you don't want any nasty surprises at the end of your meal, maybe you should confirm a few times with the wait staff on your size order. I had experienced TWICE which I feel is enough for me.
Within the Clementi heartlands area, discovered an affordable Zhi char stall that serves up a range of palatable dishes. The fish is particular is outstanding, fresh and well cooked. Other dishes such as pork ribs, Beancurd are nice as well. Will certainly be back to try other dishes!
Good food at very reasonable prices. Need to book in advance if you are eating with a group of people. The steam boat fish is really good and reasonable. Must try dish if you are there.
Good value tze char stall at a quiet n far in hdb neighborhood..
Good food at a reasonable price. We had fishhead steamboat n the soup is very good at first, second n third refill. Recommend.
the fish soup is nice and mportant the fish is fresh, other dish is good too, recommended to try.
Not going to give a bad rating to not screw up your reviews. But just want to leave my personal feedback. My order was wrong and the staff could have solved the situation by recooking.but no apologies and no offer to re-cook. Basically “take it or leave it.” When I went for my reorder there’s no egg inside. I paid 14 dollars just to eat kway teow. Kway teow has no consistency and beef is minimal. I don’t mind paying but when you screw up, instead of keeping silent and whispering to each other you could have just solve the issue?
Not bad Zhi Char. They had regular patrons and were always packed during weekends pre-covid times so had to wait up to 45mins on busy peak hour period. Nowadays dabao or take-away will only take about 20mins these days... They also offer a name card where you can order your food in advanced by calling them.
One of the best fish steamboat. The service have to improve. Highly recommend everyone who really love to eat fish steamboat
Good zichar food at hdb neighbourhood kopitiam. Claypot liver that we ordered was good. Will try other dishes at the next visit.
The fish head steam boat is a MUST try dishes. Tasty n delicious. Price is reasonable n serving is big enough.
One of the best random zichar places around; hot plate deer meat is exceptionally good and vegetables are perfectly cooked. Someone in the kitchen really knows what they are doing!
A hidden gem within Clementi. One of the yummiest zichar places in Singapore at affordable prices! Generous portions and cosy environment, the only thing to watch out for is the long queue and even longer wait for your food due to the crowd (during peak hours)!
Food is awesome. Must try the 'yu tou lu' especially.
You have to do booking . Very crowded during dinner time. Food service quite fast and orderly. Can try.
Wonderful pork chops. Red grouper hot pot highly recommended. Fried beehoon very plain.
Good fish steamboat with very fresh fish and tasty broth . Pork ribs also good .
First time here and will be back for more. Very tasty and nice fish hotpot
