Reviews of Alley Wei
Surprise to see not many customer here on Sunday.
Anyway walk in easy and ordered our food. They don't serve pork as they are halal.
We had the pancake with egg which was tasty although not crispy, chicken soup noodle which was normal, steam dumpling taste quite nice and a bowl of bean curd with grassjelly which doesn't taste as great. Overall meal was normal.
Thumbs up for the food we had!
Hala Chinese cuisine that is right smack beside the escalator from b1 up to L1. A very chilled and laid back area that you may miss if you don't look left before going up to Level 1.
Let's Dive in!
Food:
What would could go wrong with meat? Nothing.. especially when the broth is yummy-licious. Cant really explain in words but we can definitely say, it's very yummy and best to pair with something spicy..
Service:
The food was prepared very fast. In under 5mins, what you ordered will be ready. So yeah, we were glad we did not have to wait long koz we needed to have a fast meal.
Atmosphere:
Despite being in Tampines Mall, time kinda slowed down in this area. Try it and you will understand. It is very comforting to know that there are still such places for us to unwind.
All in all, a great place to go to, especially if you have yet to try. A definite recommended makan place!! We actually wanted more, but let's save it for other times la eh🫢😂
Cheers!
Beef noodle : beef is tender and soup is just nice
Dumplings : inconsistent, sometimes dough is soft sometimes hard
Chilli : very bad. could have been better with chilli oil instead of chilli that is off the rack
Home made chilli would be good with the chilli padi
Soya beans : hot cold and beancurd are just so so
Time to do some washing for your curtain or whatever it is called
I actually pretty much enjoyed the food here. I especially like the chicken pancake and the soymilk which is served in a bowl. The chicken pancake was hot and crispy - extra kick when ate with the sambal. Staff were also very fast and efficient. The uncle staff was also very helpful in helping customers find table.
Oh my goodness! This is literally the best you tiao ive had. My eyes lit up!!! I bought during lunch. Maybe cleaner oil. First time trying. Excellent excellent dough. And goes so so well with their soya drink.
Wholesome & hearty beef noodle soup with silky tasty noodles. Chicken dumplings are heavenly. Soybean is so handmade tasting. Just wondering why they dont serve coffee /tea. Be perfect with everything on menu!
This place offers really nice comfort food—Taiwanese and Chinese dishes that are amazing to try, especially for Muslims looking for affordable halal Taiwanese food. The elderly staff were extremely nice, adding to the pleasant dining experience.
Always walk pass this halal taiwanese place. Wanted to try many times but the space always full.
They expanded the dining area
Loving the space
Love everything on the menu but my favourite is the pancake. Tried the red bean today. Sooo yummy. Doughy , warm and just the right amount of sweet.
Love the food here! The place feels cosy and very clean and it reminds me of the breakfast I ate when I went to taiwan! The scallion pancake is a must try and I love the soya milk (cold)! It taste fresh and doesn’t have that sticky feeling in the throat when drinking which most soya milk do have.
The dumpling and chicken bun is normal but still nice! The youths is freshly made so it’s hot and very big! I really suggest sharing for this because it’s really very big to have for one pax!
My grandparents enjoyed the beancurd as it is not very sweet too! The staff was nice too. Would return here again!
The ginger soup beancurd was a delightful surprise. Packed with a warming ginger kick, the soup held just the right amount of sweetness, allowing the delicate flavor of the beancurd to shine through. The accompanying YouTiao was a textural dream - perfectly crisp on the outside, yielding a warm, fluffy interior with every bite. Yum indeed!
Cosy and affordable comfort Taiwanese Food.
They’re menu is straight to the point, with not much variety - The beancurd is smooth and tasteful, with both sweet and savoury options. The Beef Noodles was tasty and texture of the noodles was good, but maybe a bit salty.
Service was a bit slow, but understandable as most were elderly.
Food served pretty fast. Chicken soup noodles is very tasty but no meat. Fried pau is quite good. Soya bean milk and you tiao nothing special. Sg hawker selling better than this.
Tried the chicken n beef noodle. Just average but still it’s at reasonable price. If you are craving for Taiwanese food. Just swing by here if u stay ard tis area. Not bad.
Totally unexpected ~ the beef noodles is bouncy and soft, the soup is tasty, not oily, not salty. The beancurd is the smoothest I have ever tried. The fried chicken pancake is a little oily but tasty still. The portion of food is just right. I'm bringing my mom here :D Highly recommended :))
Halal cheap food (look at the menu attached) and amazingly nice. On top you have a restaurant experience. Will go there again. All 5 star review.
Despite the negative reviews, I actually enjoyed my meal here and the female cashier was aloof but I guess some people have that personality. That’s fine by me.
We stopped for a quick pitstop and ordered the normal cold soya milk, the cold almond soya milk, and a red bean pancake. The pancake was not oily, which was good, but still a little hard and there was not much red bean.
The normal soya milk, as well as the almond, were a little bland, as if there was too much water added.
For the price of $7.70, it was slightly on the high side for what we ate.
First time trying Alley Wei. No queue when i visited them.
Shaobing: not a fan of it, it’s like chinese prata, but less oily. Doughy flavour, not sweet, not plain, not savoury, with a lot of sesame on the slightly crispy skin. Quite a big piece for me, i’m feel full after eating 1pc of shaobing.
Grass jelly drink: served cold, grass jelly on chewy side, not the soft one. The water siew dai, not overly sweet. No ice cube inside, so the drink won’t be diluted.
Sweet beancurd with ginger soup: love their beancurd, and the ginger soup. But they can be more generous with the soup.
Maybe next time can come again and try the pan fried dumplings. 😊
Place is perfect if you change the cashier. Expect to queue because the cashier is very very slow and very afraid that she will key the wrong order. Check and double check. Per transaction was almost as long as what u will expect when u visit a bank. 😂😂😂 Guess what, the orders still didn’t come in perfect. Asked for less noodles but was ignored. Saw the reviews that their Soya bean is watered down but it was not the case when I came on several occasions.
Affordable hand made noodles and dumplings, good experience for us, serving size could be better for the noodle, but overall ok
Expensive tub of Bean curd with ginger sauce at. $3.80 .
I like the ambience and design of the restaurant but the seats are a little bit small and squeezy. I got the beef noodle soup while my mum got the noodles in chicken soup. We shared a cold soya bean drink and chicken dumplings. The beef is in big chunks, tender and chewy. My mum loves her meal too even though got no meat but the broth is incorporated into the vegetables. Service was great. Aunty & uncle working there very prompt and friendly. Would definitely come again to try their pancakes.
Didn't hit the spot but good enough. But price is higher.
Good was great. Beef noodles was surprisingly good. The almond soya milk was just nice for me. Not too sweet. Love the taste and texture. The pan fried dumpling was ok. Will come back to try their other items. Worth a visit.
Dumplings are good. The soup base is light yet decently flavourful at the same time. The staff was very nice to find seats with backing for seniors. You need to order at the counter, take the buzzer and collect the food at the counter yourself.
Great halal Taiwanese food here, what a gem within Tampines Mall.
Chicken noodle soup was light and hearty. Noodles were quite QQ too. Soybean milk (less sugar) was thick and the sweetness was just nice.
Tried the beef noodles and cold soya bean milk. For the noodles, the soup is really nice and flavorful. Totally did not expect that. The drink is also quite refreshing. Will visit again for the affordable prices. No gst or service charge :)
Abit pricey for the quality of food but it's acceptable. A good pit stop for a quick meal. Scallion pancake was abit too garlicky comparing to the usual Taiwan taste.
I like the uniqueness this place offers especially the savory bean curd. Smooth n no sugar! The beef noodles was very yummy with add on yourself chili n vinegar. Noodles was QQ n done perfectly. We only got empty bowls to show. No service charge n no gst, will be back again soon.
Nice beef noodle and soup, simple and nice. 蛋餅abit underwhelming, the rest are good:)
This Taiwan restaurant is a good surprise for me. My family enjoyed the good so much. Definitely we will re-visit. Fried dumpling is the top choice.
Ordered the peanut beancurd ☺️ very smooth and silky beancurd , reasonable price for the food too 👍🏻
Halal Taiwanese food / noodles. Nice n serve hot. Clean place. 2nd time eat there
Had the beef noodles, which taste almost same as the ones I had in Taiwan. Soya milk is not too sweet.
Food are nice n price are reasonable
The style of the store is very much like a Taiwanese soy milk shop, but the food tastes ordinary and has no surprises. It's neither bad nor delicious. The scallion pancakes are bland and tasteless. The fried dough sticks in the sesame pancakes are too tender, and it's a bit sad that you can't add eggs.
The fried buns were surprisingly delicious, but they were a little disappointing because they were chicken instead of pork. It doesn't have halal food certification but it doesn't sell pork products. It feels like the positioning is a bit strange. In Taiwan, pork is usually the first choice for making steamed buns.
The best thing about the whole meal is the beef noodles. The soup is fresh and not oily. It is a restaurant that you can eat once.
