Reviews of Ban Heng Restaurant
Staff were good in terms of service but food n environment really cannot make it nowadays. Not sure if we had ordered the cheap n lousy quality of food but with $50 per person we can get better food outside. Plus this place is under HDB block n not that classy anymore. Should not have charged this pricing already.
We had the ala carte buffet here.
The taste wise not really great but the variety is a lot.
The vege is a bit salty.
over all are ok.
Dont expected 5 star service n taste here.
Just opposite Boon Keng MRT, linked by Exit B. We ordered $44 per pax buffet, but their dishes average, chilli crabs and shark fin tasted bland and lukewarm..too crowded too.
The sides were a little disappointing as there were not many selections to choose from except for the meat roll and the fried egg plant. The roast chicken and roast pork were good as it is generous in portions. We ordered a large plate for black pepper beef and it was definitely worth ordering as the black pepper and curry leaves bring out the fragrance of the beef slices. The main highlight of the dish has to be the beef hor fan as it is feeling and it has many beef slices in it. However, the only dish that seems to be the most disappointing has to be the steam promfet as it was not fresh to eat and it was expensive. Ultimately, the ala carte menu seems to be more eating than the ala carte buffet.
Went for weekday lunch ala carte buffet. It's $42.80+ plus $2+ for tea but there is buy three free one so average out to roughly $36 per pax for choice B, which is the typical buffet menu plus eight extra premium dishes. The menu is quite confusing when it comes to how many times can one dish be ordered or how large is one portion, but staff is very helpful so just ask them if in doubt. We went in a group of 20 and the manager was nice to give us discount as five groups of four although we were split into two tables.
Food is pretty decent for Chinese buffet. There are some that are great, such as durian roll, musang king custard bun, chicken wing, veg, herbal prawn, Buddha jump over wall, yam paste etc. Most of the other dishes are OK, mostly too sweet or salty but still nice. Desserts are generally very sweet and not fantastic. Crab is small. Dim sum skin are too thick and doesn't stick well. Fish is overcooked so taste and texture not that great. Didn't manage to try all dishes but assume on average would definitely have a few pleasant dishes.
Just because this place is under a HDB doesn’t mean the food doesn’t taste good. Cooked in traditional fashion that I believed most elderly would find it acceptable thus it would be an ideal place for family gathering along with your elderly members. This place won’t be suitable for u if u have an atas mindset.
Staff are polite. Very accessible location.
Food is decent, no complains. Portion is good. Didn't like the shark fin.
Biggest letdown is how packed and squeezy the dining area was.
Excellent food today, despite kitchen being really busy for Father's Day. Prev visit wasn't as good, but everyone had nothing but praises for the food today. Well done, Ban Heng! You've won us back!
It's a smaller place then expected. Looks like it need renovation. We had the ala carte buffet. Food standard is above average. Service staff is attentive, but food from the kitchen is a bit slow. It could be because it was full house on a Friday night.
Old school Chinese restaurant with buffet dish serve upon ticking on their food list. Nice taste and food was serve quite quickly during lunch hour. Need to be prebook
The food is not too bad but not spectacular either. The dip fried products taste too much of fried flour leaving behind a less tasty chicken or fish. The veggies on the other hand taste better. Do I recommend it? For company dinner on budget yes.
Ala carte buffets offer value for money for group of gathering 11 old friends including many traditional dishes and choice of desserts.
Went for the lunch buffet. Worth the value with 1 free adult for every 3 paying adults.
Went for my mum birthday celebrations.. the food was served very fast but unfortunately it wasnt good but eatable . Xiao long bao and the dim sum was not nice . Tasteless but everything else was too salty . If your tastebuds are on heavy side you will like it . The food thought serve fast was served in a manner where dishes which need to eaten with carbo was served without it for example we had our ice cream dessert first then later last dish suddenly the mapo tofu came ?? The vegetables were overcooked .. luo han vegetables were so hot or burnt that the broccoli just crumple into your mouth with a wok hei smell char ta smell ..only thing that was nice is the fried durian balls and fried duck crisp. Service is quite good ..the ladies are quite prompt and clear your plates fast .
I can say if you are here to eat for quantity and not quality then can come for the buffet otherwise don't bother . To me it felt like a rushed sub grade Chinese restaurant buffet where they were trying to rush you out and get it done with feel . Oh by the way you have a time limit of 2 hours to maken . And it's super crowded all the time which I can say many Singaporeans don't mind paying just to eat quantities rather than quality hahah
Had my ROM celebration here. Decent place. Good food for the price. And helpful staffs. They have set meal for vegetarian as well for your vegetarian guests.
Ordered the buffet dinner but there were a first 8 course of dishes would be served. Subsequently, you may order ala carte from the menu with lots of dishes from dim sum to rice, fish cooked in different style and more. They have yam paste and Italian gelato and more for desserts.
It was a nice meal but the only gripe was some of the dishes were a tad sweet. This was the second time to this restaurant, overall it was a satisfying buffet.
Last ate Ban Heng was the outlet at Pasir Ris. Today son 2nd birthday so try out here. Aircon a bit cold tho. Not complaining but food gets cold fast. Sure need a good renovation here.
Great neighbourhood restaurant with great food and service.
Place is small, max 20 tables with each table within an arm's length.
Food's rather salty, but traditional.
Service is kind of mixed- the kind of old service crew where some are really friendly whilst others are grumpy.
Went for our grandma birthday celebration and have to say the food and service are both terrific! Staffs are friendly and helpful making the dinner there a joy.
Not bad..
traditional Chinese restaurant with less than modern decoration but it's selection of good food more than make up for it. My family enjoy their roast pig and chicken very much!! thumbs up
Very slow a la carte buffet service. Food was mediocre.
Went for the ala carte buffet. Generally a hit or miss for the items. Had to wait quite a bit for the food to arrive as well as they were quite packed.
Very disappointed by this year CNY dinner food is worst than 7th month dinner see
Not your hipster kind of vintage but the Singapore kind of vintage restaurant. Serves traditional teochew food that is decent and very affordable. Great for casual family gathering.
Tasty Teochew cuisine, great for family gathering or company event. They have buffet option but I didn't try that yet.
Love these dishes.
Food is decent and I think they have been around for a long long time!
Taste like mass market food instead of Teochew crusine we all want to have.
The food is supper here. Very reasonable price👍👍👍
Nice food with reasonable price.
Affordable and good food
Regular customer

Seems understaff

All-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. Full of exoticism❗
If you want to invite some friends to dinner with Zhongma Tickets (Wanxing), you must make a reservation first. Just got a seat.
