Reviews of Cenzo: Australian Italian Restaurant & Bar (Club st)
Absolutely delicious! Had a business lunch there. We ordered set Lunch and a glass of Prosecco. The starter of squid with pesto was super delicious I was really impressed with how the different sauces complement the grilled squid so well. Then the lamb shoulder was so soft it literally melts in the mouth. Food aside, service was great but the selection of seats are quite limited. We were seated too near to another table.
Food was amazing and great ambience! Great place to catch up with friends or place to chill after work. Definitely will go back again for the food! However thought the place can either increase the manpower or have more systems in place on how they manage the customers (e.g. order water and beer, beer came but water only came after 20-30minutes and giving two reminders to serve water to guests that are not drinking alcohol). Staff were very pro-active in collecting finished plates but thought more touch points or interaction with the guests should be done. Nonetheless, it was good and delicious meal. Took a picture of the Christmas special which we didn’t order but just for reference for future customers intending to go within this month.
been here twice and the food was excellent both times! here’s what we got:
• Beef Tartare: wasn’t expecting much but this was such a good plate to kick off the meal! seasoned really well and paired with fluffy, toasted bread.
• Grilled Octopus: cooked perfectly, very tender. potatoes were great, and the sauces made for an combination that’s pretty unique. would recommend especially for those who don’t usually like the taste of grilled octopus / olive oil.
• Calamari: decently yummy, a solid appetizer. but think there are more unique finds on the menu you may want to try!
• Mortadella Tigelle: we thought we were hungry enough for more bread - but the portion was so huge we had to takeaway half (for a belated breakfast 😋). Excellent bake and generous servings of Mortadella, Pistachio, not too syrupy or sweet.
• Conchiglie Crab: An all time favourite and we can see why! Rich seafood flavours and generous portions of crab/roe, all without the need to tussle with shelled prawns…. would recommend this for seafood lovers!
• Gramingna alla pistachio: It’s decent but pales in comparison to the richness of the other pastas. Could go without.
• Tiramisu: just when you think you’re stuffed silly… you’ll always have space for tiramisu! portion is above average, and has a unique crumble texture to complement the creaminess. somehow it’s not overly soggy either, worth the hype.
Suckling pig is SO GOOD! Crispy skin and succulent tender meat. The 1/4 pig serving is generous enough to satisfy us. Calamari is crispy and tender. Prawn risotto and Crab pasta is super umami! Cannoli and lemon tart are 👍 as well. Service is friendly and attentive. Overall a very satisfying meal 😋
We had the lunch course menu, which included two courses for $39++. For an additional $5, you can add dessert and coffee, which is definitely worth it. Every dish was fantastic, especially the grilled squid, which was exceptionally delicious with an olive oil-based sauce. I wouldn’t hesitate to return for a special celebration.
Had dinner here with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. Food and service were great! I highly recommend the roast suckling pig! Meat was fall off the bone and the skin was super crispy. The best thing on the menu that night.
Australian Italian cuisine. Good with some standout dishes but flawed with technical execution. The black wild rice that failed to fully puff up marred both scallop and cabbage dishes it was sprinkled over. It was like biting into hard plastic sticks, so bad we resorted to picking them out. Feedback to server on the issue, they waived water and dessert.
Good for date nights, friends & family gatherings. Can get a little noisy as it fills up.
Iberico pork belly with flatbread and hot sauce. The pickles are potent. Tangy and appetising, good hot sauce. 8/10
Frico, pancake like rosti of finely grated potato. Fragrant and crusty charred with cheese grated over. 9/10
Seared scallops and crispy ham. 8/10 the bits of wild rice puff were nice when they got it right and hellish when they didn't puff up. Could chip a tooth.
Roasted cabbage was the best dish. It had a robust smokey charr with creamy macadamia tahini. 9/10 there was a killer amount of unpuffed wild rice that were black. Had to pick them all out.
Gramingna alla pistachio with burrata on top 8/10. Creamy burrata went well, good texture on the pasta.
Grassed ribeye 7/10 with burnt onion sauce, comes with a side of beef fat potatoes. Despite using beef fat, I'd rather take airfried wedges over these. Quite bland, oily and not really crispy 6/10.
Pistachio affogato was just pistachio ice-cream sprinkled with pistachio bits. 7/10
Would go back for the rosti pancake and cabbage even despite the unpuffed rice issue.
I would rate higher if I could.
Dishes ordered -
Calamari : Fantastic, I would say it’s the most bang for your buck dish there. The calamari is so special it’s pretty amazing
Prawn Risotto : Prawn broth / seafood broth was insane. Very very thick and heavy. Prawns were fantastic. The best risotto I’ve tried.
Ribeye : Portion was massive at 500gm, came with beef fried potatoes. Very good combination, the potatoes were heavily salted and beef were lightly salted. Eating it together gave a good combo.
Tiramisu : Must try. Love the touch of using the big spoon. Fantastic. Not mushy, super strong alcohol.
100/10
The staff were friendly and made good recommendations for our order, not encouraging us to over-order. They were also attentive and asked about our allergies/dietary restrictions before taking our order. The food tasted great! We especially loved the scallops with crispy ham and pork belly appetisers. The prawn risotto was so flavourful 😋 Would love to come back again.
Cenzo has been on my must-visit list for a while, and I finally had the chance to try it today—and it did not disappoint.
We didn’t try too many dishes since both my husband and I have small appetites, but every plate we ordered was spot on! From the Antipasti, we had the Frico (potato and cheese pancakes with prosciutto) and the octopus, along with the pork sausage orecchiette from the pasta selection. Each dish was packed with flavor and deliciously satisfying. I do wish we’d gone for the tiramisu instead of the chocolate ganache for dessert, though! The ganache was lovely, but I’m a tiramisu fan and took a risk trying something new.
My husband chose the Super Tuscan wine, which was divine and an excellent value.
I also have to mention Angel, the service staff who took care of us. She was knowledgeable about every dish, making us eager to return and try even more of the menu. Her delightful personality added to the experience.
Highly recommend Cenzo to anyone wanting a taste of Italian cuisine with a unique Australian twist!
Everything we had here was delicious! Tried pistachio pasta fr the first time and loved it :) The ribeye was not cheap, but was definitely tender and flavourful - worthy of a splurge
attentive, friendly and lively staff! favourites were the eggplant and rosemary olive oil bread. aglio olio pizza & burnt butter pasta were okay. Potatoes were nice tooo.
Space was VERY echoey though I could barely hear myself :(
I wouldn’t give it 5 stars bc the pasta and pizza weren’t life changing though pizza dough was soft and fluffy. but I also feel bad if I give a 4 so… a 5 it is.
Was served by Rowena, Ginger and Jason tonight! Big thumbs up to all of them for their service 🫶🏻 Ginger was very detailed when she was describing her recommendations to us and the dishes she recommended tasted amazing :-) they even gave us complimentary dessert as we were celebrating my birthday so thank you!!
Food wise the portion was very filling for us! I liked the Tigelle the most. Both pastas tasted too salty for us unfortunately 😢 We had to down ourselves with water towards the end. Hence I wouldn’t recommend the pastas if you prefer your food less salty.
It was overall still an amazing dining experience in a comfortable atmosphere!
Honestly, the food was good but service was meh. Also, I didn’t expect to find PLASTIC in my food at such a highly rated restaurant.
I booked a dinner for two as a birthday celebration for my husband and it was memorable, but not in a good way. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no host or hostess, I had to check if they were opened for business. But this is alright, my issue was with the condescending response when plastic was found in the crab pasta.
Waitress gave excellent recommendations for the food, we enjoyed it! However, there was a piece of plastic in the crab pasta. The first waitress was apologetic but when I checked with the second waitress on the source of contamination; she simply said that it’s likely from the crab packaging and they’ll comp our dessert. It’s as if giving free dessert solves the issue..?? =.=
Eventually, they did honour their word and gave 30% off our appetiser but the experience was ruined. Furthermore, they asked me verbally about the dessert when I’ve indicated on my booking that it’s for a birthday celebration and even messaged them on WhatsApp to request for tiramisu because I wanted to surprise my husband. It’s our first time celebrating his birthday together as husband and wife so I wanted to make it special. I might come back for the food but definitely not for any special occasions.
I’ve also noticed that perhaps the chef had guests over yesterday, likely his friends or family, perhaps thats the reason behind the subpar service.
Recently dined at Cenzo and was thoroughly impressed. The service was exceptional despite a nearly full house, with attentive and friendly staff making the experience delightful.
The food was equally outstanding. The pan-seared scallops and tuna tartare stood out among the appetizers, both perfectly prepared and delicious. For mains, the steak and pork were highlights, cooked to perfection with generous portions.
Overall, Cenzo offers an excellent dining experience with great flavors and standout service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a great aus-italian meal.
I just wanna say thank you to Jason, Ginger and Abby for a wonderful service during our dinner. They were very friendly, positive and most of all very very attentive to our request. The ribeye taste so good that I cant even speak and portion was so huge and we couldn't finish it , the bone marrow was heavenly. Most importantly the vibe was amazing. We enjoyed our dinner at Cenzo and I will 100000% recommend Cenzo to everyone. I would definitely come again for the food and the people.
All I can say that the Chef hire the right people, served the right menu, and have a great place.
cenzo was such a dream!!! i am really happy that i paid it a visit because every dish was good 😊 i would however give the cannoli a miss as it wasn’t to my liking as much, but the rest were great. props to the service staff because service is everything that makes a space stellar
Outstanding food. The seafood risotto was cooked in a rich broth, and the prawns had a lovely flavour from the charcoal. The suckling pig was so tender and the skin was wonderfully crispy. Octopus was good, tiramisu was fine but could have had more alcohol. Wine was fine. $230 for two with a glass of wine each (not cheap).
Food was sooooo good! Highly recommend their grilled squid and pastas! Part of the ribeye they used had tough tendons so it wasn't to my liking but the beef fat potatoes that came with it were amazing 😭
Amazing food and impeccable service! Their flavours were towards the heavier side which I love it. The staff was extremely attentive and and they were also patient in giving recommendations for us too!
Although the price was a bit steep (~$90+ per pax for the items shown + drinks), I felt that the overall dining experience was worth it. 🤩
We had the course meal and food is really nice! The staff and ambiance is also superb! Big thanks to Ginger, Rowena, Jason and Angel for the excellent service 🥰
All dishes were well done, especially the Iberico Pork Ribs and the Shellfish Risotto.
I have to applaud the service staffs, very quick to check on our water, change of plates and always ensuring we are enjoying the dinner or anything we need. Thank you for the amazing service!
Had a very enjoyable Birthday lunch celebration with my husband at Cenzo. We really love the fresh ingredients, daily made pasta and flavourful dishes. The staff also pleasantly surprised us with Tiramisu (with candle) and wishing my husband “Happy Birthday!” without any prompts from me at all. I only wrote a short comment during reservation & the staff really went beyond to note of it. It’s the little things that matter! Thank you everyone!
Food was good generally- ordered the veal tongue, orriechette and prawn risotto.
Veal tongue was a personal fav loved the texture and flavours and would totally order again, paired very well with the sautéed onions
Orriechette was very light on the palate. Good palate cleanser but not a show stopper for us.
Prawn risotto was super flavourful- could really taste the robust flavours of the broth through the rice. Though a tad bit salty really enjoyed the risotto, should defos order this if you're a massive prawn fan.
Was also gifted the tiramisu as part of our birthday celebration which was specially served fresh out of the tray. (Not in the pictures :( )
Overall the food was great and flavours of the dishes were generally pretty robust. What blew me away was the service- had given feedback that the prawns were undercooked and was served a new portion and also given 2 complimentary glasses of wine. The tiramisu was also gifted together with a candle and a happy birthday tag even though we only mentioned it in our booking and not to the servers. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu thanks for having us!
All the dishes were so so yummy and flavourful. 10/10 will recommend and come back!
Had a remarkable culinary experience with chef Drew’s exceptional Italian cuisine. IMO a perfect blend of authentic flavors and details. The pasta dishes were delectable and cannoli mouthwatering.
Highly recommend and will be back to try the rest of the menu
Update: Returned for dinner and absolutely enjoyed the mortadella toast, burnt butter & pumpkin conchiglie and porchetta (accompaniment of celeriac slaw could be a tad more refreshing). Although, the arancini seemed to have shrank in size this time. I can see why seafood lovers would enjoy the bucatini, which is similar to our local chilli crab but with a richer, more overwhelming taste of the sea. Perhaps a thinner, less starchy pasta would complement this dish better too. Ended our meal with Drew’s excellent tiramisu. We were seated at the back this time and the ambience was much better for conversations. One small gripe would be the same use of plates, especially when moving on to the mains after having lots of saucy pasta. I enjoyed chatting with one of the older male waiters too (didn’t manage to get his name but he seems to double as the bartender). Thank you for the lovely dinner!
Had a fantastic dinner at Cenzo, although as with the hits comes a few misses. Started off with a jug of sangria and a couple of delicious arancini. Then came the whipped ricotta, which we would have liked better if the ratio of tomatoes to ricotta was more balanced (the tomatoes overwhelmed the thin layer of ricotta at the bottom). A serving of bread to pair with this would have been fantastic too. The cacio e pepe was superb, peppery enough to cut through the richness of the parmesan.
The last of our mains was the petite tender, an unfortunate letdown. It was pretty good on first bite, but got too chewy subsequently and wasn’t pleasant to finish even when done medium rare. Although the manager later explained that it was an uncommon cut with no fat the chef personally enjoys, this could’ve been better conveyed on the menu right from the start. Our meal ended off with a well done cannoli, albeit a more generous sprinkle of pistachio would’ve elevated the dessert. Service although impersonal, was efficient and excellent. Lovely ambience although it can get very loud when the crowd pours in. I have my sights set on other menu items and look forward to trying them on the next visit.
Very impressed about everything especially the food. Loved everything we ordered (octopus and bone marrow are my favorite aps). Will surely come back to try more dishes. Chef Drew’s tiramisu is the best and must try.
Food - started with the gambero which was probably the best dish of the night. garlic butter and seaweed complimented the jumbo prawns so well, with bread to wipe down the sauces. We also had the Frico which was recommended, imagine a cheesier rosti that went well with prosciutto and rocket leaves. Pasta did not meet expectations, we had the rabbit bolognaise which was lacking in flavour, and portions of rabbit were little. Mains - we ordered the iberico pork rib eye which was an excellent cut, but diminished by the rather accompanying sauces/spread which tasted flat.
Nice eatery with above average food. Renovation is cool and chic. Good service. Really liked the lamb shank (really tender), suckling pig (fantastic crackling skin), and tiramisu, which were delicious. The food didn't come cheap at SGD90 per person, excluding the drinks.
Really good pasta with interesting and traditional flavours :) we got the chilli crab and carbonara pasta, as well as the seafood risotto. All were super yummy! The pasta’s handmade as well. We also got the beef sandwich and lamb shank which were amazing!
Really really great tiramisu and friendly staff! The pasta portions are alot larger than most other places of the same price point!
A reservation is not 100% necessary as the restaurant is pretty large.
ordered the risotto and petite tender along with some drinks (sunset and hibiscus fizz)
would definitely recommend the risotto! prawns were juicy and the rice was very flavourful.
petite tender was alright but not to my liking due to the charred taste of the beef. came with salad as well.
drinks tasted yummy and sweet
Food was hearty, glowing, and life affirming. Ordered the signature pastrami, pumpkin pasta and the rabbit pasta — all three dishes gave me joy and then a little bit more.
Taste wise, the pumpkin pasta was my absolute favourite but I was most impressed with the conceptual work that went into the rabbit pasta. I’ve had rabbit a few times before and it has
always tasted gamey and tough.
Cenzo’s chefs removed the heavy aftertaste of the rabbit meat and made the most of its unique texture with the other ingredients in the pasta. The thought behind each dish was well appreciated! Most significantly the price was value for money (I’ve been to place where I’ve had to pay twice for half the pleasure).
I’ll be back for more!
Have been a fan of chef Drew since his Salted and Hung days. This is more traditional Italian in its approach and less experimental but still delicious. They have a good set lunch as well.
The food was amazing, we had grass fed ribeye. it was so goood. the meat was juicy and soft.
The waitress is so friendly. Her name is Ginger, she was so helpful she helped us choose the menu and have a chat with us. i will come back for sure. We went there for my birthday. and the restaurant was celebrating my birthday with the best tiramusu!!
Oct 2023 really excellent food. Every dish well made and delicious. As someone who generally orders beef steak, the pork chop was excellent. Warm bread and cheese starter also excellent
2 of us had the veal tongue, potatoes, rabbit pasta, petite tender (came with salad), and the panna cotta and cannoli for dessert.
- Loved the panna cotta/lemon sorbet
- Potatoes were nothing special though
- Why did some reviewers say the portions were large? I think they're small to medium la. 2 of us comfortably had the above without feeling stuffed.
- Very decent pricing for this kind of atmosphere! Fantastic service.
The service was amazing here in Cenzo. Ginger, Abigail, and Angel were so amazing and we had great conversations with them. Amazing hospitality.
The food was incredible by Chef Drew. Here’s what we ordered:
- tuna tartar, piquillo peppers: so good and not spicy. The peppers were a great complement to the tuna
- frico: one of our favorite dishes. We can imagine having it with a drink and just this dish
- mazarea red prawn risotto: great with strong flavors.
- grass-fed rib-eye 500g : great dish and the potatoes on the side were a great side dish.
We were celebrating a birthday and we got their gold n’ gaytime and it was amazing. The chocolate mousse was very decadent.
Would come back for sure! Thank you for making it an amazing birthday 🤍
We went there as a group of 6 ppl and ordered 8-10 dishes and we shared everything which I think is the ideal way to eat at this newly opened restaurant and we enjoyed all the dishes and couldn't fault any of our dishes. Chef Drew has taken to his Italian roots in this restaurant with many dishes having crafted in a home made trattoria manner but elevated with his way of cooking and his inventive way of pairing.
I still found his Australian way of cooking shining in many of his dishes and standout dishes for us was the red snapper, salad, T-bone, homemade pastas, focaccia and cannoli.
Has a good Italian wine selection at reasonable prices to pair with the dishes and we enjoyed our meal and can't wait to return.
Lovely new restaurant at a reasonable price point.
Crab meat pasta is really excellent. Tonight we tried their new Tiramisu … it’s probably the best Tiramisu I had taken. It was excellent.
Food is good but it’s very noisy so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise. Would recommend the blue prawn, beef tongue, crab pasta, and lemon sorbet panna cotta.
We had such a fun time eating at Cenzo. The food was delicious, but the service is top-notch! Ginger was very accomodating, and made our dining experience quite amazing! We will surely recommend this to our friends and family.
Our experience dining at this restaurant was very enjoyable. The service was excellent, especially from a lovely woman named Ginger, who was very friendly. I recommend this place for dinner and drinks.
Thank you all staff.
The food was absolutely amazing. 👏
Honestly had high expectation because of the good reviews. Food was not bad but not out of the world. However, I was pretty disappointed with the service. Made a request during my reservation to surprise my friend with a dessert for her birthday and even called in an hour before my reservation to make sure that they are aware of it. However at 10pm they were packing up and I had to personally approach the staff and ask for the surprise, the staff/waiter’s reply left me dumbfounded. “If you still want it I can give it to you now, it’s on the house.” I don’t care if it’s on the house, what I was angry about was the fact that I’ve made 3 REQUESTS and yet they still messed up with what I SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR. Disappointing all in all. Doubt I’ll come back again.
Food is good, but what is impeccably impressive is the service here. Waiters took every effort to ensure everything served was to our liking (especially the steak), and went the extra mile to make sure the meal special because this was for a birthday celebration! Will certainly return to this place!
Cenzo is a cozy Italian restaurant that offers a delightful experience. The standout dishes for me include the Mushrooms Seaweed Risotto, a unique fusion of flavors, and the indulgent Tiramisu. The menu features a variety of authentic Italian classics prepared with fresh ingredients. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a memorable dining experience.
Good food at affordable price. Shellfish risotto with grilled prawns and the rabbit bolognaise were great.
The service at Cenzo Restaurant is truly exceptional, thanks to the remarkable team of Abigail, Ginger, and Jason. Ginger’s warm and welcoming demeanor sets a positive tone from the moment you arrive. Abigail’s attentive and efficient service ensures that every detail of your meal is well taken care of, while Jason’s expertise in wine pairing enhances the overall dining experience. Together, they create a seamless and enjoyable atmosphere that complements the delicious food perfectly. Their professionalism and genuine care make dining at Cenzo a memorable experience.
Tried the chef’s table menu and staff were accommodating enough to swap some items due to dietary restrictions. Overall, ingredients are good quality! Seems like their alacarte dishes are better, would come back to try them next time!
Mortadella ($17) has a generous portion. Lardo is too raw-tasting, won’t order that again. Rabbit bolognaise ($26) is ok. Porchetta ($28) is soft and crispy.
Food was very enjoyable. It’s probably the best cacio e pepe I’ve had in a long time. The steak was very tender and reasonably priced.
We went there on a weekend and the service was a bit slow and sloppy.
Celebrated a dear friends’ birthday here and the pastas and desserts were delicious. Highly recommend their pappardelle as well as their tiramisu
Great food! Honestly of all the Italian places, this place hits the spot.
We were surprised how good the food was. Almost everything we ordered hit the spot, especially the dessert.
The winners were the tuna tartare, scallops and shrimp pasta. Pork was ok and on the slightly fatty side. Recommended dessert was the tiramisu served out of the baking tray, which was fine except the way it was scooped out onto the plate, it just fell apart as if we are getting scraps.
Food was good. Steak was overcooked and is a common occurrence but just not top notch. Flavours were decent. Nothing mindblowing. Service was lacklustre
Only go here if u love good food and absolutely amazing service! The gaytime, taste exactly like the ice cream we all ate as a child. Definitely coming back, and thank you Abby for an amazing memorable time.
Absolutely chill place for an unpretentious lunch
Easy going and friendly service
Love their interpretation of Italian Australian menu
The deconstructed tiramisu is pure genius!
Great food and service. We enjoyed all the dishes ordered especially the risotto...yums!
We had mains and every dessert, and they were all wonderful! Service was excellent! Rowena was a gracious host, and Janet and Ginger were knowledgeable about the menu and extremely helpful with their recommendations.
We had an awesome time last night! Food, service (special shout out to Ginger!) and atmosphere were topnotch! 💯♥️
Came here without any expectations but i must say the food has been surprisingly surprisingly good! Will definitely be back!
Celebrated my birthday at Cenzo. Beautiful ambience and great food. We were served by a beautiful lady Ginger and she was super sweet and friendly.
Great food! Also fairly reasonable pricing, and fast service which is much appreciated.
Staffs were attentive!
octopus, scallops and pork rib eye were so good. Can't wait to go there again 😋
Delicious food and great service esp from Angel. Highly recommend the crab pasta and Iberico pork rib eye.
Ginger, Abby and Rowena were very accommodating! Good food and service.
An absolutely astonishingly amazing restaurant, Chef Drew takes wonderful (hand made) pasta and vegetable and meat dishes to another level in flavour and ingenuity, what’s astonishing is that he turns a cabbage salad into an incredible flavour experience (worthy of a Michelin star if you ask me!), or how he puts so much flavour into (and I mean into!) his pasta dishes yet they present so light and simple, and finally how a pumpkin sauce to accompany his perfectly cooked pork slices becomes the talk of the table (I can still taste it now, it was all the talk of the table); a must visit, fine restaurant (wines are, if I may, beautifully priced and perfect to the occasion), with a professional and courteous team. Thanks to you and your team Chef Drew — Audrey, Jun Ming and I had a wonderful early Christmas celebration at Cenzo! Thank you 🙏
Tried their burrata, steak and dessert all of which were really good!
Shout out to ginger and janet! Best service ever!
The food was great and the seaweed risotto was excellent
Best pasta place in Singapore.
