The food was really amazing. Do try the Steak Cut Pork Belly and Wet Aged Hanger Steak. We were served by Daniel and he cooked the meat to perfection. Really enjoyed ourselves today and highly recommended for people to come and try. The stew and kimchi pancake was extremely good also.

Amazing food! Wonderful staff! Bought the meat lover set, just nice for 2 pax super full… got the steam egg with cheese as well 100% worth! They gave complimentary drinks (something like rice wine? Celebrated my mum's bday yesterday and we are awed by the wonderful service by the staff especially Sophie! Ambience : one of the nicer and comfortable dining especially the private VIP room which comes with TV and grill on the side! Clean environment! Really no smell of bbq when we step out! Food : seafood pancake is crispy and not oily, jajangmyeon is tasty (sauce+meat more than noodle!), kimchi soup is nice, Munjong set beef is great, pork belly is nicely done, collar and ribs are normal (all well cooked by Sophie, none of the meat are burnt, she was very attentive), side dishes mostly sour, could add more variety, ginseng chicken soup is very fulfilling, meat is soft, soup is clear and nice. Tteokbokki is abit chewy but taste is ok. Japchae taste is good but abit on the chewy side. Grill chicken is well cooked too. Service : Sophie is one of the most passionate and attentive staff we have ever met when dining in SG, not only does she attend to our needs well, she even sing happy birthday song to my mum and our 3 kids love her presence, very friendly and genuine character! Birthday treat : special crepe with ice cream is a great way to end the dinner! Thanks for having us, we will definitely be back!

Meat Lover Platter (Recommend ⭐️ - the wet aged Pork) The meat was perfectly grilled, and it was nothing short of fantastic, with high-quality meat. We loved the pork; the fat to meat ratio was great, and it was juicy and tender. The mozzarella cheese wrapped with the flavorful marinated pork was also delicious! Not only that, you don’t have to worry about leaving the restaurant smelling smoky. 🥩 2. Banban Stew (Tteokbokki & Kimchi) Personally, I think the kimchi stew was appetizing with a hint of sourness and just the right amount of spice! The Tteokbokki was on the sweeter side. The downside was that the portion was on the smaller side. 🥘 3. Seafood Pancake (Recommended ⭐️) Another dish that we pleasantly liked! Crispy exterior, fluffy interior, good texture! While it wasn’t oily, we wished there were more seafood. 🥞 4. Naengmyeon Nothing special, but a good dish to beat the heat; you may want to skip this. 🍜 5. Steamed Egg w Cheese Comforting, savoury, light and fluffy! Can’t go wrong with this simple dish. 🍳 6. Barley drink and Raspberry drink 🥂 We highly recommend Chingu @ Rochester as we felt the service provided here was fantastic! The food is great. We had the bbq meat that are cooked to perfection. The ginseng chicken soup has a lot of ingredients (even pine nuts) to add flavour to the soup. We were seated outside with our dog but the staff were still very attentive, often coming out to check on us. We didn't have to use the buzzer to get their attention at all. Thank you for a great dinner. We'll definitely be back.

I recently had an exceptional dining experience at Chingu Restaurant that I must share. From start to finish, the evening was nothing short of fantastic. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the Korean BBQ. The meat was grilled to perfection – crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside. Every bite was a delightful blend of flavors and textures that left me wanting more. I also tried the Korean cold noodles, which were absolutely delicious. The noodles had a perfect chewiness, and the broth was refreshingly flavorful, making it a perfect complement to the BBQ. A special shoutout goes to the special sparkling makgeolli. This traditional Korean rice wine, with its effervescent twist, was to die for. It added a fun and unique touch to the meal, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I have to give special mention to Hernan, the manager. His service was impeccable. Not only was he super friendly and attentive, but his grilling skills were top-notch. He made great recommendations, ensuring that we had the best dining experience possible. His expertise and warm hospitality truly made the evening memorable. Chingu Restaurant has certainly earned a loyal customer in me. I can’t wait to return and enjoy another incredible meal. Highly recommended!

1st time here today and ambience was soothing as we dined outside because it was drizzling. Fried chicken and pancakes are a must order! They had a 1 hour wait for grilled meats so we opted for beef bulgogi instead which was equally yummy with steamed rice! Do try the barley tea too. The army stew was just alright :) Though food was superb, service was a little on the downside - had a reservation for inside seats but were told that only outside seats were available even though we arrived on time. It took awhile before the staff got back to us after I conveyed my reservation. Would have appreciated some communication of sort if they were checking/preparing a table as my parents and I were standing near the doorway and felt a bit in the way of things. The staff that sat us down informed us that she would get someone to wipe our table but no one came after. No menu was given despite waiting for a while. Understand that it was an extremely busy friday evening and from other reviews, I believe my experience today is probably not a good representation of their usual service. Will visit again for the food (hopefully get to try their grilled meats then), and hope that service will be better :) Would like to give a shout out of thanks to staff Brix. He was very cheery, happy to help guests take pictures, and patient with enquiries despite the busy service. He also gives good recommendations, checked in with guests, and was overall very customer oriented. His warm and professional service really made our night. Thank you Brix! 🤍

Enjoyed familiar Korean flavours elevated with a modern and unique touch at Chingu which is housed among rows of refurbished 2-storey colonial houses within the Rochester Park Colonial Estate just 10 min casual walk from Buona Vista MRT. It is also a perfect spot for KBBQ with your furkids. Traditional banchan were enjoyable and available for refill so we got a few servings on their delectable kimchi. Enjoyed their 🥩Meat Lover Set which came with Grass-Fed Rib-Eye Steak, Pork Belly, Marinated Pork Ribs, Mozzarella Squares, Pineapple & King Oyster Mushroom! The premium meat cuts are aged to perfection in their dedicated on-premises chamber. Using natural wood charcoal with their smokeless & open grill tabletop, we enjoyed the succulent meat grilled to perfection by their friendly staff. The meat were tender and juicy with superb texture and taste amazing on its own. We wrapped the meat with fresh vegetables & condiments for extra satisfaction! Our fav was definitely the combination of pork belly with melted mozzarella Squares topped with pineapple which was mesmerizing. 🍲Ban Ban Stew🍲 came with combi of Kimchi Stew & Soybean Paste Stew which was perfect to enjoy both signature stews at one go. The stew came with generous amount of ingredients including flower crab, prawns and mussels. Kimchi stew was especially enjoyable with its perfectly aged kimchi and the soup was really flavourful.

Food was great, atmosphere was cosy. What made the experience more memorable was Ruth’s warm hospitality and attentiveness to my family, including our furkid and young child. She got us drinks and creme brûlée after knowing we are going to celebrate a birthday, and ice cream for non drinkers. Ruth had really gone the extra mile to ensure everyone is included. I would say the ambience was great for a start. Food wise, we had the port menu set which I would say was a bit disappointing as the meat was stiff and hard. The side dishes were a delight though and the staff were friendly and accommodating to our request.

Unlike many Korean BBQ places that use gas, this restaurant uses real charcoal, which gives the meat an incredible smoky flavor. It’s a rare find and worth appreciating! The servers here are pros—they cook the meat for me perfectly every time. All I had to do was sit back, eat, and enjoy the food. The tables are spaced out well, giving a much more comfortable dining experience compared to some cramped BBQ spots. With these features, I don’t have to head to Tanjong Pagar anymore for authentic Korean food. Glad that I have this restaurant within walking distance.

Booked a private room for 10 with Karaoke for my daughter's birthday. You can do such reservations through the usual booking apps. I also called them to check and finalize certain things, and the manager was extremely helpful and set my mind at ease. We were incredibly surprised at how they elevated my daughter's birthday celebration when the cake came in (not giving anything away here). Despite us staying a little over time, none of the staff showed any disapproval nor negativity. Food is nothing to crazy wow about, but definitely slightly better than average. Not bad in general for casual dining. :) Meats were not too bad. Pork jowl and marinated pork were good for bbq. They use the smokeless charcoal to grill so there was close to no smell, that is a bonus. Staff grilled meat with careful attention- so done-ness of meat is cooked well- which is also a bonus. Seafood pancake was good! Better than general restaurants. Same for steam egg. It was good. Was seasoned well - not too salty and texture was great.

We had an quiet Saturday night dinner at Chinggu @ Rochester and were pleasantly surprised with the posh yet cosy dining space, something different from your typical Korean BBQ restaurant. There was no BBQ grill smell at all in the restaurant. We had a booth seat for our family of 3 , allowing us to have really quiet n intimate dining experience. Hernan( I hope I spelt his name right) & his team were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Hernan gave very good recommendations on the food that we should order, even telling us we may have have over ordered. We did order extra in the end anyway because the food was simply delicious. Kudos to the staffs attentiveness even though the restaurant was full house when we went. Overall we had a really great dining experience and will definitely go back again.

Banchan was good. Seafood Pancake we had was crispy but a little too eggy, dip needs a little more depth. Soondubu tofu stew was good but the spicy taste could be slightly reduced as it is almost covering the overall flavour. But overall it’s good. I originally booked the indoor , but ambience looks very sad and cold. Locked in a dungeon feeling , so closed in with black doors and shut windows. Restaurant might wanna consider making a glass door or open up the windows. Outdoor seating is very nice but can be improved with a buzzer to call for service. And if the restaurant could install some mosquito repellent device will be good.

The food here was good (the grilled meats, stews and seafood pancake). However, the restaurant / staff seemed overwhelmed and service was iffy. Firstly, although we had booked a table at 745pm, we were told our table was not ready and had to wait outdoors for 20 minutes. The restaurant did give us Milkis drinks to apologise for the wait. The staff was clearly overwhelmed due to the crowd and it was slightly difficult to get their attention. They also ran out of rice, although the nice lady server did offer sonmething else in return. Would return but hopefully they iron out their service and system issues.

The serving was more than enough for three people and the quality of food was great as well.
