Reviews of Chingu @ The Oval
Staff very courteous and helpful. Kimchi was spicy (to me) but my other friends said it was ok so that's subjective. The pork and beef was very yummy. Kimchi pancake was appetising. Shoestring fries crunchy and not soggy. Fried chicken came in a spicy sauce as well as the sweet garlic sauce. Both yums. We ordered a plate of the beef short ribs and the black Angus oyster blade steak which was nicely bbq-ed to requested medium done-ness by the staff. The bill for 6 of us came up to 262 as I utilised the 10% discount off the meat dishes from krispay.
The staff also very kindly gave us a complimentary dessert as we were celebrating 2 of our colleagues birthdays. They gave us creme bruele and the Korean crepe on the house. Thanks allot!!! 😊
Visited on a weekend lunch timing.
Made the mistake of dining outdoor, the meat was grilled and then brought to outdoor seating.
Everything was cold when I started to eat. The use of large plates for the meat also made layout arrangement challenging.
Love the atmosphere here. So tranquil and quiet.
The food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly.
Ordered the Pork Lover, Jajeongmyeon, Baked Tokbokki and Udon.
Fri-Sun evenings are packed usually. Do come in the day to avoid the crowd.
Will come back here again!
Love this place so much. Awesome service by the crew , especially Hernan.
Food was great too! I tried the pork lover set, nice!
Food was served very quickly. We had boneless short ribs and pork belly. They were seriously good! If you finish your meal in 80 mins (I think), you get to enjoy a sure win spin or 15% off your bill, totally worth it!
Went with family.Ordered Ban Ban stew, Steak and udon noodle for kid.
Stew wise is tasty and good. Portion wise is just nice for two person.
Steak wise is abit dry, maybe is because i am sitting directly below aircon, so the steak get cold fast.
Service is good. Staff is attentive and provided ice cream once we finished our food.
Atmosphere is nice and chill.
Usually people show photos of food before they eat. I showed after i finished so you know what left alot implied food not good.
Good ambience, prompt and good service by the few young chaps. It’s a nice, conducive place for a gathering. However, the food pales in comparison to the price. Side dishes were average, so were the bbq dishes and army stew. Soybean paste stew was awfully salty with barely any trace of fermented soybean fragrance. Steamed egg started off pretty nice but became really dry and charred at the bottom. The better dish was the seafood pancake.
We ordered almost everything but I find it ok, not WOWed. But I love the cheese steam egg.
Soondubu was amazing! Got the USDA prime ribeye and king Oyster mushrooms, it was really good hot, but served on a metal plate it quickly became cold. Kimchi was slightly too salty. Overall great food and will come again!
had really great food here with superb service! the staff were really attentive too. shoutout to shakih(?) for the free drinks too!
Really nice kbbq at Seletar area. Nice meat and seafood pancake. They cook for you, too. I love that they include perilla leaves as part of the vegetables.
A Great Experience at a Pet-Friendly Spot!
I’ve always wanted to try this place because it’s pet-friendly, and I was finally able to bring my dog along. I didn’t make a reservation, but luckily, we were able to snag an outdoor seat. Despite being outside, it was super comfortable, thanks to the fan overhead keeping things cool.
I went with the beef set, and it did not disappoint. The meats were fantastic, especially the Hokkaido beef, which was grilled to perfection just the way we wanted. The selection of alcoholic drinks was impressive, and I loved the creative soju bomb mixes they offered.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the friendly and warm service. The crew was attentive and welcoming, which truly made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food, a pet-friendly vibe, and excellent service!
Went there for dinner with my friends. We ordered a few items, and have to specially mention the steam eggs, seafood pancake and cold noodles. The seafood pancakes was very nicely fried, crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful inside. The cold noodles was cold and very refreshing. The steam eggs was fluffy, moist and light. As for the bbq meats, it’s quite decent but we have tasted better. Service was commendable and ambience was nice.
Didn’t specially take photos of the food but the meats were well marinated! Not too salty and the cuts were sufficient for 3 pax. Had a refill of fresh veg too.
We also ordered kimchi fried rice and jajangmyeon. It was all right.
The free flow sides- picked cabbage and beancurd was our favourite!
Felt very attended to by Jiawei who helped us with the BBQing despite the full house. And Brix and the chef giving us 15%discount/free ice cream. :) total bill amounted to about $200 for 4+1.
recently featured on get fed sg and we went to try out their new brunch menu 🤤
The brunch items were all reasonably priced and while we had hits and misses, it was overall a good dining experience - I love how laid-back the environment was
Crowd favourites were the Cheese Kimchi Pancake ($26) and the egg fromage ($14) - both had a generous portion of cheese!! The pancake was fried to a crisp which we loved, as compared to the limp soggy pancakes in many Korean restaurants. The egg fromage was soft, jiggly and tender!!
The hanging tender ($40) was a beefier and leaner cut, so it’s great for those who cannot how oily some cuts can be 👍🏻 The kimchi fried rice ($22) and kimchi pork ragu linguine ($22) were decent, and the confit pork jowl ($25) was tender and reminded me of sucking pig!! An interesting dish but I prefer it without the sauces which were quite salty.
Dessert of the day was Argentinian Donuts - very interesting texture!!! It reminded me of churros but on the sweeter side… but again it’s desserts
The steam egg was sensational, we order additional portion because it was so good. Ban ban stew was rich and flavourful. Selected the Hokkaido and Kagoshima beef for the bbq both were elegantly marbled and delicious. Pancake was light and crispy spot on. Do order the jujube tea it was surprising well brewed with tremendous dates definitely good for the ladies. The only down side was the selections of banchan, overall a great dining experience with my friends in a cosy room booked under reservation.
My First visit to this place. I am truely impressed with their Service. We ordered the BBQ, and was surprise that the staff will help to bbq for us. We also ordered their Chingu special army stew, steam egg fomage which was fluffy and nice. Not forgetting their mouth-watering authentic korean seafood pancake!
Will definitely visit again! We were given ice cream for free as a complementary too!
Had an enjoyable lunch yesterday at this restaurant. Nice atmosphere and the staff were attentive. They helped to cook our meat which was pretty decent in terms of the quality. We also had cold noodles and seafood pancake which we thoroughly enjoyed it. End off the lunch with complimentary ice cream. Definitely will come back again.
Went on a public holiday and the staff were very busy so they were not as responsive as expected, however they were still very friendly. Food was good.
Lovely afternoon at Chingu. Seafood pancake is crispy and full of seafood. Banchan is very tasfully done. We order Kagoshima wagyu rib eye and oyster blade steak. Cook to perfection of med-rare. Enjoyed the food, Atmosphere. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you! We will be back!
A charming hidden gem nestled within the Seletar airspace, this quaint establishment offers delightful cuisine.
However, the extended waiting time between courses left us feeling somewhat lethargic. Nevertheless, it was still a good experience, thanks to the exceptional service and inviting ambiance!
Love the environment, the food is tasty and authentic. Would definitely be back again !
I recently dined at Chingu restaurant and had a delightful experience. The food was incredibly tasty, with standout dishes that truly captured authentic flavors. However, I found the portion sizes to be a bit on the small side, which left me wanting more.
The ambience was cozy and inviting, making it a great place to relax. Additionally, the service staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant for its delicious food and pleasant atmosphere, but be prepared for smaller servings.
We did not wait long to be served despite the restuarant being packed during dinner time. Waiters react fast when a request was made.
A loud shoutout to the Manager(Shakir), he is friendly and cheerful. It was very nice of him to serve a complimentary dessert for my birthday boy and he made us feel at home.Overall a nice place to dine at.
👍👍👍 The food was delicious and the service was great! The staff also helped to grill the meat to perfection. It was the first time my family tried this restaurant. I saw someone recommending it on FaceBook recently and decided to give it a try. Brought my family there for dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Totally enjoyed it. The staff even treated us to a very nice crepe with ice cream for my wife’s birthday. We ate BBQ pork belly, seafood pancake, spicy cold noodle, noodle in black bean sauce and kimchi stew simmered with pork. In summary, the dinner was 👍👍👍
The food and atmosphere was very nice here, we came here during weekend brunch, had the kimchi fried rice & korean egg drop sandwich. The korean sandwich tasted heavenly the brioche was very fragrant and nicely toasted, while the fried rice was very homely.
Service here was exceptional, everyone was very friendly and accommodating, even talked to chef Gim who shared some cooking tips 😂 10/10 would come again, especially to try out their meats which they specialize in!
Actually, this is my fourth time to this Chingu outlet. Food is good. Chef korean Ghim And the staff Brix and the gang were so active and friendly that it compensated all the waiting pain for tables!!! It's so enjoyable that I'm going again tonight!
Without the steak, avg $25-30 a pax. Great quality value.
Few dishes you must try, if helpful. Hope all enjoy just like we do.
Shakir was very friendly and made our experience at chingu very fun and memorable. That’s what service is about :) Food to try Jap Chae and bibimbab
A surprise find on 26 Dec. Although we went without reservation, Hernan had been most hospitable to offer us a table for 80 mins. Premium cut of meat with premium price, which justify it. Meat & pineapple cooked over coal plus the 1-for-1 happy hour draft beer and on the house soju shots to make soju bomb is the best combination. Will definitely visit again.
Thanks Hernan for the awesome experience again 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We walked in while strolling around the vicinity , thinking what to eat.
As it was before lunch crowd, we got a table .
Food was indeed nice as reviewed by some people here . True to fact as we too , enjoyed our dishes and beer !
Ambience is comfortable , stuffs are friendly and welcoming .
We’ll surely be back to try other dishes especially the grill meat stuff !
Recommended!
The meat is of excellent quality and the cooking was impeccable. Great service all round!
First of all the place is beautiful surrounding it - I live around here so having a good Korean BBQ place nearby is a big win. The vibe inside is pretty chill, booking was easily done through Google and they were responsive to confirm booking via phone call. They got us seated and the place inside is clean and good - there isn't that charred smell stuck to us even as we left.
About the staff, Hernan and Pravin served us and they were so attentive! Pravin cooked the food for us which was great, nothing was overcooked, everything was just nice - even asked us how we want our steak done and respected it! Hernan advised us to get just 1 bowl of rice to share noting that it might be a lot for 2 of us. He was super fun to chat with as well! Great service and really enjoyed being here! Thank you for being amazing, will come back soon for more gatherings, parties etc! 100% will recommend.
Came with rather high hope because of quite good google reviews, and friend's recommendation. However our experience was not meeting expectations. I can understand it's a busy day and you are quite short staffed, and hence for us to sit outside (we have a dog) we were not getting much attention. That is okay for us too. We ordered "beef lover" set. For the price, i would expect much better flavor than this, it was quite bland, but i have to give credit to the texture, texture was good. The grilled pineapple slices were good. We ordered Ban Ban Pot Army Stew, that is quite good and we liked it. Japchae was on the mediocre side.
One thing that really irritated me was, we asked for plain water, or iced water, quite earlier on, the waiter, rather new looking, he was not sure if iced water can be served or not in the restaurant, he said he will go in and check with the manager. We are okay even if he is new, so we waited. He never returned. The most unacceptable thing is, our next table, just beside us, they were served water soon after! They came much later than us, you guys could serve them, BUT we requested for one, it was NEVER served till the end until we paid our bill and left. Yes, even my wife ordered A&W root beer and i ordered soju for myself. But both of us would like to have water too, you served the table beside us, despite we asked for it but we didn't get it till the end, till we left. It doesn't even matter whether we need to pay for the water or not. I am willing to pay for it if needed to. I was thirsty because we ordered bbq meat. My soju couldn't quench my thirst much. I could only stare at the water bottle next table, not mine. This annoyed me quite a bit.
I used to love the environment here, where I could enjoy delicious food and excellent service. However, this time, the experience was very disappointing. The charcoal fire was too weak, causing the grilled food to lose all its moisture. The ingredients ended up dry and overcooked, yet still not fully done. Proper grilling requires the right heat and timing to achieve a balance of a juicy interior and crispy exterior, preserving the flavor of the meat. Unfortunately, I left feeling quite disappointed this time.
Ordered delicious Japchae (Korean glass noodles), BBQ grill, and sparkling pink Makgeolli (Korean rice wine). This 🇰🇷Korean restaurant sits in an old black & white bungalow in Seletar Aerospace Park. It has a particularly romantic atmosphere during the night. Service abc atmosphere was great. Price is comparable HK other Korea restaurants. Highly recommended!
Was served by Rodini, and had such a good experience. We ordered the queen set (marinated pork ribs and rib eye steak were my favourite), cold spicy noodles! I would highly recommend these two dishes! The ambience is so good - for a kbbq restaurant, it’s not smokey, not loud and I had such a good experience. Would highly recommend for dates or business meetings as it’s quiet and service is very good.
The place just got packed after the getfed episode. First time here, and I got to say there are hits and misses for certain foods. The bibimbap and the steam egg was good. The pork set was some meats were good, some were not. I would recommend to book if you want to head there. As the place is small, there are limited seats. The service is not the best, but can see they are trying their best. So please be patient. Ventilation wasn't the best.
they improved a lot from the last time we ate here 1.5 years ago . i like the beef quite tender and also the pork with white onions so sweet . the staff very attentive and friendly herman still remember us. pravin very good the way he grilled for us .
Jia Wei attended to us and customer service was fantastic!
Food was good and our family of 7 had a great time! Thank you so much for the fabulous experience!
Top notch service, very good place for occasion dining. Food is good and very friendly staff.
Food quality and taste was above mediocre. Service is great. Worth a visit. Seafood pancake is soft and crispy as it should be. But the seafood can be more, and more visible.
Lettuce for BBQ can be dried more thoroughly.
For the overall price, banchan should have more variety and 5-6 types.
Barley tea was neither sold nor given.
Quiet on a Sunday night with very flavourful Soybean Paste Stew with Seafood around 20$. Reminds me of Jeju’s noraba ramen! The steamed egg that only costs 8$ was hugeeee! Oh yes. The jujube tea was light but sweet, suitable to drink after a salty meal! We had to park by the roadside though. Not sure if there was a carpark we missed.
I believe in giving credit, when credit is due. Such is the case when I brought my family here for mother's day dinner. Was thoroughly pleased with the authentic food and was even more impressed at their service. The staff were attentive, cheerful and prompt with our orders. They even gave the mums at our table a complementary present. An unexpectedly pleasent surprise. My guests were happy. Thank you for everything. If u continue to treat customers this way, u guys will do well. Well done.
I had an amazing experience at Chingu! Their army stew is hands down the best I’ve had – perfectly balanced flavors, generous portions, and so comforting. It’s the ultimate dish to share with friends or enjoy on a chilly day.
To top it off, their selection of soju is fantastic, especially the Hwayo – smooth, clean, and pairs perfectly with the meal. The combination of great food, excellent drinks, and a cozy atmosphere made for an unforgettable dining experience.
If you’re looking for authentic Korean comfort food and great vibes, Chingul is the place to be. Highly recommend!
I had an excellent dining experience at this Korean BBQ restaurant! From the moment we walked in, Pravin and Brix provided outstanding service—they were attentive and friendly throughout our meal.
The food arrived surprisingly fast, and every dish was served with precision. The meat was grilled to perfection, juicy and flavorful. We enjoyed every bite! The overall service was superb they made sure we had everything we needed.
For me, dining here felt like a perfect start to the weekend—it truly was TGIF!
Great dinning experience with Chingu. Service staff were attentive, entertaining and professional.
Special thanks to Herman, Pravin and rest of the crew for being amazing at what they do.
I had the pleasure of dining at Chingu Oval, and let me tell you, the Beef Lover dish was quite the experience. It boasted three different types of beef, all beautifully piled up together, cold, on a plate. No need to bother telling us which beef is which; the guessing game is half the fun, right? For over $200, I guess I was expecting too much for the meat to be warm or, you know, properly presented. On the bright side, the kimchi fried rice was warm and tasty, so at least something went right. At least the service crew tried their best!
Beautiful Korean restaurant in Seletar aerospace! Price is reasonable and staff is very friendly! My friend and I enjoyed ourselves <3
Great experience at this Korean food place! I love the steamed egg especially!
Highly recommended. Service was very pleasant and accommodating.
The staff’s are so polite, especially Brix very friendly and hospitable and James so patiently cooks for us.
Will definitely come back and tell our friends about this place.
Price is also reasonable. Very good food, authentic Korean food.
Walked into the restaurant as we were in the area. It was nice with great service. Ordered beef brisket, pork jowl and prawns..very nice food. The server helped us with the cooking and was attentive..nice.
Great experience at Chingu! All the food are amazing, staff are very friendly. will definitely come again!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chingu @ The Oval, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely superb. Our waiter, Pravin, was incredibly attentive and made us feel right at home.
One of the highlights of our visit was Pravin’s sense of humor. He had us laughing throughout the meal with his witty jokes, which added a delightful and unexpected touch to the dining experience.
And the food? Simply amazing! Chef Brix outdid himself with each dish, which was a perfect blend of authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. Whether you’re a fan of Korean cuisine or new to it, Chingu @ The Oval offers something for everyone.
Overall, Chingu @ The Oval is a must-visit for anyone looking for great food, outstanding service, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
Delicious food, especially the fish cake stew. We were served by Brix and Syafri, and it was an amazing service from the both of them. Will revisit again!
Great dining experience and the service here is great too! The soft tofu stew and steamed egg is very good.
The BBQ at Chingu is a gastronomic delight. The meat is tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection. The smoky flavor of the BBQ, combined with their secret marinade, creates a symphony of flavors that dances on your palate. It's a feast not just for the taste buds, but also for the eyes and the nose.
The soup at Chingu deserves a special mention. It's warm, comforting, and packed with flavor. The ingredients are fresh, and the broth is rich and hearty. The Kimchi Stew, in particular, is a must-try. It's the perfect blend of spicy, sour, and savory - a true testament to the complexity and depth of Korean cuisine.
The staff at Chingu is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great place for a relaxed meal.
In conclusion, if you're a fan of BBQ and soup, Chingu is a must-visit. It promises an authentic Korean dining experience right in the heart of Singapore.
I had an incredible dining experience at Chingu! The quality of the food was exceptional, with each dish bursting with flavor and freshness. The attentive and friendly service provided by Brix truly elevated the overall experience. Brix's knowledge of the menu and recommendations made the evening even more enjoyable. I can't wait to return to Chingu for another delightful culinary journey!
Great ambience, music and incredible service! We had a private room and it was really quiet and cosy. The server Rodini was very attentive and helpful. Food was top notch and highly recommended! Definitely coming back again!
Ala carte menu here was really good. We ordered the sundobu jigae - which was super tasty! Their seafood pancake is a must try too. Free ice cream for dessert was a nice touch. 😊
Awesome korean grill food. Try the Pork Set. Came here without reservation, but we got good seat, fast and welcoming service. Kudos and Thanks !
very private and cozy area.
Staff are very friendly and attentive.
A wonderful lunch experience with our elderly mom, who is on wheelchair
Beef and pork bbqs were grilled by the staff, on point! the galbi tang is great! Free flow of vegetable wrap for the bbq. Overall good service from the staffs too!
The service and food at Chingu are amazing. Hernan was always super attentive and friendly. He made us feel right at home and really looked after us on every visits. we had such a wonderful time. Highly recommend!
Superb service from the Chingu team! The food was great and the staff helps you to grill the meat so you don't have to sweat over the cooking.
Great service and friendly staff. Cosy environment. The meat cuts were great and ventilation is good. Won’t leave you smelling Smokey
cosy korean food place. the rice wine is flown in from korea.
the black bean noodles are salted just right.
the pork lover set is divine.
the creme brulee goes great after the hearty meal.
The first bbq place that doesn’t make me smell..very yummy pancake!!! Must order please!
Staff shakir is helpful and friendly
Pancake made crispy and steamed eggs was good too. Great service provided from Shakir 👍
First time at Chingu and it was a wonderful experience. Food was amazing, and it made it much better that the bbq-ing was done by them so we could just enjoy eating.
Pork belly was superb! 👍🏻
Looking forward to return!
Thanks for the complementary ice cream!
We chanced upon this restaurant, and were served by Brix & Praveen, they also recommended the kimchi pancake, stew & grilled meat which were amazing!
Great service and great food! we have been here for a few times now and kudos to Pravin who has shown exceptional service and is very hospitable! Definitely coming back again.
service was amazing and food was top tier!!! especially the hokkaido beef and aged pork belly!! mushrooms could have been cooked a little more, nonetheless, great service staff, great food, great drinks!! no smell left on hair and clothes after leaving!!
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Great service from them :)
Great place to eat and hang out...
Love the food, the quality is superb especially the beef. Love the atmosphere, both times I went, the ambience was great.
I will like to specially thanks Pravin and his team as their service is top notch. They make you feel so special and welcome. Once, I have arranged a VIP room for a group of 9 pax, Pravin and his team make sure all needs are met and my guests are all in awe with their superb services. Thank you Pravin and team, you always make me feel special whenever I went over for a nice korean meal. You all will be seeing my face even more often now. Keep up the good work !!!
It was a very good experience with the staff at Chingu! Pravin ensured we were served well and was very meticulous with our preferences! If you are looking for a nice ambience and good Korean food, this place is the place to go to!
Found this cosy and uncrowded place to have a nice kbbq meal with kids. The service was good and we could see most tables enjoying their meal. Food is high quality, hence the higher price point, but we all felt it was worth it. We preferred our pork to be more well cooked through, and our server was able to cater to our request. It's definitely a place for an enjoyable meal.
Nice food. Super nice crew, Sir Hernan and the rest of the crew.
Staff is really friendly and helpful to us. Amazing service and great food! I'm not a seafood pancake person but the pancake blew my mind! Will definitely be back!
Food. Service and atmosphere is excellent!
The only thing is abit pricy. Great they accept pet for outdoor seating!cant ask for more as long as our fur baby can dine along with us
