Reviews of De Golden Spoon Seafood 金匙小厨
Visited 17Apr with a group of friends
Old school place with very authentic cook, not much salt and oil. Order coffee ribs the outer has a thin layer of crispy and the meat is soft with a good flavor of coffee, best coffee ribs I tried. Crab bee hoon is served with fresh crab very genuine taste. Chicken with shrimp pancake w hint of parsley, very crispy thin skin and meaty mouth feel of shrimp and chicken meat. Definitely need a return visit!
The food you must try when you visit Singapore includes crab bee hon and pork coffee. They are very delicious ! ❤️
Love the food! Crab beehoon is amazing - tasty and fresh. Other favourites are golden tofu (pumpkin cereal), coffee pork ribs (fragrant, not thick with flour or fats), crispy mushroom and wu xiang, 3 egg spinach. Huge buttermilk prawns (seasonal size).
Been here many times over the years with friends and family. Great place for gatherings. Good service, friendly owners (always chat with customers/regulars), delicious food. No corkage fee for drinks (except beer as they sell it).
Ample parking available right outside the restaurant (no gantry- remember to pay for parking). Best to call and reserve, esp for indoor seating and groups.
Photo shows food in the small size. Very decent serving size. Crab beehoon standard size, price is based on weight of crab.
Very good value for money pomfret fish head hotpot but service was pretty non existence.
Very busy at the time of visit, Aparently is popular but to be honest it is overated. Food is just average leaning towards poor. Chicken is too dry. Other dishes flavors are not good. Choose the opposite restaurant next time.
Food: my buddies and I enjoyed the food quite alot. We ordered the bamboo clams, prawns in herbal soup, along with some vege, chicken and fried rice (we ended up ordering 2 medium portions because the rice was really quite delish).
Value: I wouldn't say it's the most affordable, but I'd say it's competitively priced, based on the neighbouring competition. They have free corkage for the first bottle I think (best to check with them beforehand).
Service staff: this is where I *deducted 1 star*. The staff were hurrying about and shouting across the restaurant to each other. And they were always looking a little flustered, and this made my experience rather unpleasant. I requested for a certain type of wine glass because one of my buddies brought a rather nice bottle of wine - when I approached the staff to make the request, the manager (I think) told me that certain wine glasses were reserved for VIPs. Which was ok, except that there were evidently no VIPs around because it was rather late and the wines glasses just sat there in the cabinet - so why can't he let us use them? He then said the glasses were very expensive and emphasised again that they were for the non-existent VIPs - maybe head implying that I was going to be careless with the glasses.. who knows.
Also also also, the staff who took our orders kept on egging us on to order their seasonal items, which we were not keen on. Thankfully, they got the hint after our 3rd attempt to politely decline her suggestions.
Atmosphere: this is where I *deducted another star*. This restaurant is obviously not a 5 star restaurant, and therefore should not be held to such standards. But, objectively, the treatment of customers, and the staff shouting across to one another.. it wasn't a pleasant atmosphere at all. We brought 3 bottles of wines and opened 2, ie we did not open the third bottle. Without checking with us, we were charged corkage for 2 bottles. But my buddies and I were really not in the mood to engage in another conversation with them, and so we paid and left.
Overall: decent food, but the experience was...not that memorable..
The staff and the service at this restaurant is amazing. There is ample of parking in the area and I really think this is a nice location to have a family and friends gathering. Don't have to fight for parking space and you will be able to spot the restaurant very easily.
What a great way to enjoy a fantastic meal on the first day of Phase 2. The food was well seasoned, and the portion is huge. Very value worth for the money that you are paying!! We had the chili crab today and we totally finished all the sauce and even had more white bread at home to wipe all the sauce out.
I would definitely be becoming back again soon to dine in or order food back home!
Crab beehoon is superb, broth is flavourful and crab is fresh. The bamboo clams is equally delicious and succelent. Overall a good dining experience.
Food is nice but many many ppl. Need to book early. Signature dish is the crab bee hoon.
Had group dinner at De Golden Spoon. Parking is convenient and importantly, the food is delicious. Highly recommended for gathering to catch up.
Great local food joint. Mostly seafood, but good fried chicken too. Service friendly and pretty decent by Singapore standards! White pepper crab highly recommended
Perfect place for gathering. Service is quick and food are delicious. A must try is their coffee ribs, nicely charred and crispy with a distinct roasted coffee taste. Crab bee hoon is also nice and plentiful. Do order their yam dessert! It is succulent, worth every calories!
Make reservation in advance as this place gets really crowded.
Always the place for the best crab bee hoon, not the soupy kind but braised crab bee hoon. Crab is fresh and big, bee hoon is tasty. All their other meat dishes or seafood is good too. Boss is very honest sort, will tell you if u over order, will accommodate special requests . Been there on and off for years, will continue to patronise for sure.
Awesome food. Dishes must try will be the Crab Bee Hoon and Prawn Rolls!
Fantastic crab bee hoon. Service is fast despite having a full house during lunch time.
One of our favorite seafood restaurants. Their crab bee hoon could be one of the best in Singapore, possibly underrated. Their crab been hoon is served with soupy broth. The broth is rich and the bee hoon soaked up the richness from the crab and broth. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Your can also BYOB to enjoy with your dinner.
It's a hidden gem. Very good food and service. The classic crab bee hoon and the pork rib are delicious and fantastic. The five special variety cold platter is also not to be missed. The place also called Classic Golden Spoon.
The food was really good and the portion sizes were decent. Location is interesting, took a while to find but overall nice.
Chinese Food, need reservation, area is nice … away from the hassle and bussle of orchard road, mostly local … Food Good, Fresh Food
Delicious crab bee hoon at a reasonable price. Great service with friendly staff. A waiter ran after me to return a jacket I left behind.
There for the company CNY dinner....food is great. The crab beehoon is a must try. 👍👍👍 Very limited tables....so make ur reservations!
Excellent Food and Service ! Famous for Crab Bee Hoon and pumpkin sauce see fried tofu!
The food here is excellent. The place can be a little crowded especially during special occasions and peak hours, but it's well worth it. Nearly every dish tasted awesome, and the prices are reasonable as well. The place is centrally located in Singapore making it pretty accessible. The people there are very friendly and happy to help.
The food is highly rated. By 7pm already packed. I rated the service less because it's really busy place hence the kitchen to roll out good food takes a long time. We waited almost an hour from order. We had chilli crab, and salted eat crab. The highlight was the salted egg crab. It's really nice. It is a big pricey but the quality is good.
Great food! Loved the crab bee hoon & pork leg!
Third visit for me, and most likely the last. Crab still fresh and delicious but I felt that overall food quality has dropped (so has the portion), and even more so the service. I noticed some other reviews mentioning the waiting staff always rushing to clear plates and glasses - in my case I asked for two glasses per person to drink different wines, but before I could pour into the second glass, another waitress just walked by and hastened to clear the empty glass before I could stop her, so I asked for a second glass for the second time (and met with impatient and annoyed looks), and guess what, the new glass came and somebody else cleared my 1st glass, again without asking me! Their stated closing time is 1030pm, but by 945pm they started switching off some lights and made it abundantly clear they wanted us gone. At the end of the dinner I accidentally broke one of the wine glasses, and the waitress immediately walked over (throughout the evening I never saw her so prompt) and asked me to pay for it (to be clear I totally thought I should pay, but she didn't even care to ask if I was ok or even clear the broken glass). They charged me $30 for that glass which I was absolutely sure not worth the price, and even slapped GST and service charge on it :) To be clear we drinkers greatly appreciate the no corkage policy, but if you were going to make customers' experience so unpleasant, you might as well start charging it.
This is my go-to place for crab. Especially when my family and I have a craving for crab bee hoon..! The food, environment, pricing, and service just makes me feel more comfortable vs those “more tourist-y”, and famous named establishments - some of which tend to make me feel like they’re just over-commercialised.
The boss at Golden Spoon personally takes every order for each table, and it just gives the restaurant that personal, sincere touch that I love. He would recommend dishes for the group size and thus far, everything we ordered has never disappointed… the cooking style feels homely and hearty as well.
I don’t know why I’m only writing a review now…as I’ve been coming here for years now. Maybe I was just afraid that if too many people found out about this place it would become crowded and food quality would suffer… but as they say, “good things must share”, so ‘nuff said.
I’m sure my family and I will continue to frequent Golden Spoon for years to come!
They are famous for crab beehoon. It is good. But expensive. Good service. Surrounded by public carpark.
the best crab bee hoon, soup, coffee pork ribs and awesome service
A highly-recommended traditional restaurant for crab bee hoon and Chinese family celebration dishes. Their crab is large, fresh and of very good quality, so it's really worth checking. The restaurant ambiance is cozy with simple decor, suitable for casual meet up and family gathering. There's a long waiting time so reservation is definitely needed. It's also better to call and check with them on the crab size + price on the day that you plan to have your crab dishes. Convenient parking options nearby.
crab mei foon is not as good as said... but others r ok la....
Brilliant food, the crab and shrimp are amazing! I was fortunate enough to have great company also, authentic Singapore experience, it is the place where the locals go, you must book but well worth the effort
Crab beehoon was the bomb. Really one of the best i hv had though a bit expensive. But service was really bad. I ordered kailan and came totally without leaves. But I asked them they just said my breed of kailan is like this without offering alternative..
Nice eatery, not crowded when we went on a Saturday afternoon which was a surprise. Most of the dishes were well executed including the bamboo clams which were sweet and large but the standout was the salted fish chicken fried rice with good wok hei that really highlighted the chef’s skills. Would recommend most of their seafood dishes.
Located at a quiet corner, a humble restaurant with excellent food quality. The must try dish is the crab bee hoon. Rich flavourful taste and the bee hoon almost melts in your mouth. I love the coffee pork ribs too.
If you are looking for local food and fresh ingredients. You must try this restaurant. The crab is fresh, and the other tastes great. The only comment is too crowded and noisy.
One of our go to joints in Tiong Bahru - there were some ownership / mgmt changes 8 years ago - typical landlord / operator dispute thing, but the original mgmt is back and the place is still great. Had the signature Crab Bee Hoon today, as well as their Green Dragon Vege and Three Cup Chicken. The Crab Bee Hoon remains spectactular, as well as the simple but tasty 3 Dragon Vege. Three Cup Chicken was ordinary but good.
On previous trips in recent months we had just rice and dishes without Crab, but also left satisfied.
Much prefer this place to the nearby Long Ji (opened by their former chef), which has repeatedly disappointed us with pricing, portion sizes and quality.
Enjoyed the lunch at golden spoon. Tried the amazing crab bee hoon that was amazing. Enjoyed having the sea cucumber with vegetables. Service was abit slow as they were busy. Understandable.l
Their crabs are fresh and meaty, and dishes there are generally delicious. Try the coffee pork ribs too! Prices here are higher than their neighbour's (Por Kee), but well worth it for good food and friendly service.
The Crab Bee Hoon is as good as anywhere. Highly recommended.
Good place & good food for family dinner. Crabs are reasonably priced and delicious. Boss gave good advice on how much to order according to no. of pax to avoid wastages. Overall a good dining experience!
Each time we are there the chef didn't disappoint. The star has to be the crab beehoon; the crab is large and meat is firm. The soup is very good without too much MSG.
Staff good service and attentive .Nice food.
Crab bee hoon was fantastic.... Cooked with bits of lard and soaked in crab juice. We also tried the ngo hiang and baby squid. The latter came in a rojak sauce sprinkled with pineapples. It's crispy and delicious... something special. Book ahead if u want to sit indoors, or else there's outdoor seating too.
Food was OK, nothing too spectacular.
Attentive wait-staff.
Restaurant was right in the car park so easy to get to (if you get a parking lot in the usually crowded carpark).
I felt nauseated by the heavy scent of burning incense though.
Steamed fish in Cantonese sauce was amazing! Food is not cheap but well worth. Alfresco seating is great on evenings.
Had our lo hei here, decent service, good food, generous portion
food is good especially the tofu with pumpkin sauce. that blow me away. there is aircon and non aircon area, ample parking outside but one might still struggle to find space during peak hours.
Big Crab beehoon..tasty fresh in a juicy broth.
Probably one of the best zi char restaurants ive tried in SG. Must try the crab bee hoon, steam fish hk style and salt n pepper pork ribs
Good food! Very good service. However pricing was a bit higher than expected esp for their crab bee hoon!
The signature crab bee hoon is probably the "must order" for this restaurant. Other items are good as well. Good service
Good food with decent prices. The beehoon crab is yummy and popular among customers. Worth a visit.
The food is great. Taste and presentation is very good. And more importantly the service is warm and friendly. Fish is fresh.
Still the best so far. Attentive staffs, delicious fresh dishes. My family enjoyed it!
Superb crab beehoon. But not cheap. Other food are also good.
Crab beehoon is awesome w lots of pork fat and the owner's a cool guy!
Singapore's best chilli crab!
Pretty good. Could do with clearly marked vegetarian dishes
Over rated place.. pricy.. food so so only.. very rush during our reunion dinner..
Good tasted local favourite dishes.
Great bee Hoon and excellent service!
We visited with 2 families (8 people including children). The portions of each meal are very large, so I think it's best to go in a group of 6 or more people so you can order a variety of dishes! Everything was delicious. In particular, the seafood fried rice was extremely delicious.

The crab dishes are all delicious. The chili crab is salty, sweet and spicy, and it’s super delicious when paired with fried steamed buns~
The crab rice noodles are salty and delicious, and the peppery flavor is very appetizing. The coffee ribs are also delicious. The boss is very enthusiastic. The environment is not luxurious but clean and tidy. Highly recommended~~
Crab rice noodles 🦀, I love chicken cooked in coffee the most 😆✨
The crab 🦀 claws are so big and exquisite that I’m impressed ✨
I wanted to try chili crab, so I made a reservation at this restaurant that was recommended by a Japanese resident. It's a little far from the MRT station, so we recommend taking a taxi.
The atmosphere is casual, and the staff are friendly.
Since most of the customers are local, the inside of the store is very air-conditioned. If you are sensitive to cold, a jacket is required.
Since there were 6 of us, we ordered as much as we could. First, there are long, thin shellfish called bamboo clams, which are very delicious. The most recommended dish is the rice noodle crab, which has a gentle taste. The chili crab is also delicious and not too spicy.
Please try the meat dish coffee ribs.
As for vegetables, I'm happy to have kangkong water spinach.
Lastly, the seafood fried rice.
Everything was delicious and very satisfying. Thank you for the meal.
On the way home, I asked the staff at the shop to use Grab to call a car for me. However, an incident occurred in which one person left his large bag in the trunk of the car and got off the car. I contacted the store and spoke with the driver via Grab, and the bag was safely returned. I communicated with the store staff several times, and they were very friendly and contacted me. Even after finally contacting the driver, is it okay? Aren't you in trouble? He was worried and called me. I really appreciate the staff at the store for their attention to detail. It became an unforgettable restaurant not only for the delicious food, but also for the warmth of the staff. I will definitely go again the next time I visit Singapore.
The food is good, but the boss will refuse if you order too much! A very special restaurant, I will definitely go there again if I have the chance! The little boss is very serious! come on!
