Reviews of Fico
Our family enjoyed a wonderful evening dining at the alfresco outdoor setting. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. Special thanks to Praveen for his attentiveness. We were delighted with the surprise dessert for our wedding anniversary, making our evening truly memorable. Highly recommend this spot for a special occasion!
Went there on a Saturday lunch for birthday.
Ambience is beautiful, especially if you get the outdoor seat. Staff are friendly and nice, and are fast with requests. They also gave us a free polaroid picture and a sweet birthday note, that comes with celebrating a birthday here. Complimentary birthday tiramisu sponge cake! 100 stars for this!!! Very affordable food as well. Paid $60 per pax only!
The burrata was high quality with a tinge of saltiness. Loved it, even ordered another. The vegetable really suit the burrata. A very good starter.
The potato was alright! Felt that some had a burnt after taste and too much oil at the bottom however the seasoning was on point.
My favourite was the San Marzano & Mafaldine. Wish i could’ve had more of it. It really is a must order when there.
Overall experience, it was great, staff are friendly & refills water n clear plates fast. Definately will come again in the future!
Celebrated a special occasion here few days back. Opted for alfresco dining, Nice weather and nice sea view in the evening timing. The place was beautiful, service was great. The staff gave recommendations for great food and yeah we totally loved what we ordered, particularly the malfadine and tropea onions!!
Complimentary birthday treat was a nice surprise. Wonderful dining experience! We will be back :)
I had an amazing dining experience! Love love the focaccia. The service was attentive, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of. I highly recommend coming here for dinner to enjoy the view as the sun sets – adds a magical touch to the meal 🙂
My family and I were at Fico last night to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was our first time there. The restaurant was cosy and the mood was relaxed. The food from the start to the end was good. The pasta was done just al dente and the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I am not a big fan of octopus but the grilled dish here was surprisingly good, cooked to just the right tenderness. Dessert was great too.
Our evening was made even more enjoyable by Sin Ying, a member of the staff. Despite having to attend to several tables ... sometimes at once, she was always smiling, cheerful and attentive. In an industry where service is so important but sorely lacking in many establishments, Sin Ying is a rare gem. Thank you Sin Ying for making our evening that much more memorable.
Good atmosphere and nice chill restaurant with bestie.
Thank you Michael , he was attentive and provided good service throughout.
Food was generally tasty and high standards, recommend for special occasions or friend gatherings. Overall , was a good experience and definitely worth a try.
The focaccia is the must order and the highlight of the meal. The rest of the dishes were decent. Love the alfresco area, they make the place feel cosy and comfortable.
Food was alright, steak was good but fatty parts were too chewy. Ordered medium cook as recommended by the staff but it came out more rare than medium.
Desserts were underwhelming - particularly the cannoli that lacked flavor. My group was struggling to finish the three desserts we ordered as a result.
Most importantly, we were sitting in the alfresco dinning area and there was a rat running around! It loitered around and when this feedback was given to the staff, we were simply told that it was inevitable since we were at a park. Not sure if that was an acceptable response and not sure if I’d have dinner again at a place that accepts the presence of rats in their premises with a it’s-a-given attitude. Simply do not understand the hype of this place.
Had an amazing dining experience! Jeremy and the team took great care of our table, and a special shoutout to Jeremy for taking the time to explain the menu and recommend dishes we wouldn’t normally try—like the deep-fried sage starter, which was fantastic. Even though it was a busy evening, the team made sure we never felt rushed and looked after us throughout our meal.
We had a delightful dining experience at Fico: fresh and flavourful dishes plus friendly and attentive staff. Special mention to Elise and Fazzy for their food recommendations and helping us to take a polaroid photo. The San Marzano tomato foccacina is a must try: fluffy yet crispy foccacia paired with the sweet tomatoes. We were lucky to catch the off-menu lobster pasta, which was very fresh! Desserts here do not disappoint too, the chocolate sea salt tart was delicious (not too sweet!).
went for a Sunday birthday lunch celebration and the ambience was soooo cozy and it's giving European summer vibes!! We ordered the sun-dried tomatoe foccacia and chargrilled octopus, both were 👏 AMAZING 👏
Watermelon coconut slushy was good for sg weather too~ what rly made Fico special was THE SERVICE. it was impeccable and I rly appreciate Steve for anticipating our needs and being so attentive! He gave my bf a complimentary bday dessert and even helped us take polaroid photos!! Top notch service which definitely make us want to go back every celebration:) Thank you to Fico team which made the bday celebration so memorable:F
The atmosphere was overwhelming with breathtaking decors in white and their beautiful staff. We reserved an outdoor seating, which was great as it was chilly and windy. Service was also great and attentive. Michael came and top up our water constantly. Staff didn’t wear any name tags which was very different from most establishments here. You have to pay attention to their names when they introduce themselves.
We ordered the octopus as a main to share. Perhaps the chef could have offered an option to cook the octopus more well done. It came slightly too tender. Would be better if it’s a bit more tougher. I understand that this is totally up to personal preference. Very authentic Italian restaurant. Foccacina (blue cheese) was fluffy and Cacio e Pepe was superb! Like the ones we had in Rome. Was so tempted to order another portion. We absolutely cleaned out our plates.
Would love to have tiramisu in the menu though. Appreciate that they didn’t push us for a review at the end of the dinner. We will return again.
We had the San Marzano Tomatoes Foccacina and Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe. It was a wonderful balance; the spaghetti was cheesy and strong while the foccacina was light, airy, with fresh ingredients (Italian flown tomatoes, basil, bufala mozzarella).
Dessert was equally wonderful. We had the chocolate tart and burrata gelato with strawberry jam & evoo.
The servers were prompt, friendly, warm and efficient. Atmosphere was warm and comforting.
5 star overall for the whole experience and ambience. Great locale, evening dining around sunset is 👌, service was great, but the food was good (though not great) for the price. Note the dishes are tapas portions. We sat indoors but noted that it was breezy and pleasant for outdoor dining.
FICO is a gem! Visited on August 24th, 2024 on a Saturday morning.
Was greeted by the lovely hostess, Andrea and even though I was 10 mins earlier we were seated immediately.
Our server was Chee Phang he had the menu knowledge at the back of his head, recommended us what to have first and last!
Everything from the ambiance to the food was spot on. The flavors were incredible, don’t even mention about the service it was impeccable.
A must-visit spot for any authentic italian food lover!
Weather was so lovely and my hair was flying everywhere and without me even asking the staff wind down the blinds without me even asking really felt very taken care of!
A great place and was having my daughter’s birthday here. They recommend us to try the lobster spaghetti that was great. The waiter also sang my daughter a birthday song in Cantonese 💪 with a cake on the house.
Reached there for a 5.30 seating on a weekday. Restaurant had a 2 hrs time limit for dining. Paid more for the atmosphere than the food which was decent but nothing to wow about.
Love the “ house” concept environment, and the restaurant oversee the sea make it so lovely. Super thumb up for the attentive service by Jeremy and team. Every dish recommended were holala delicious, and surprised with complimentary desserts. Highly recommended this place. Thank you FICO for the awesome experience.
I had an exceptional dining experience at Fico. From the moment my friends and I walked in, the ambiance was inviting with its warm, elegant decor. The staff was attentive and friendly, especially Fazzy & Athiban, making us feel right at home.
The menu offered a delightful range of dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. The Orecchiette was perfectly cooked— the flavors were vibrant and while the Cacio E Pepe pasta (not pictured) we had was a standout with it being so creamy and rich, my absolute favourites were Tomatoes Focaccina & Bresoala and Polenta! For dessert, the Burrata Gelato was the perfect ending to our meal— sweet yet savoury, and beautifully presented.
The attention to detail in both the food and service was impressive. Prices were reasonable considering the quality and portions. Overall, Fico is a gem and a must-visit for cute dates with friends or family. I’ll definitely be returning!
Everything we ordered tasted wonderful, just an amazing blend of flavours in each dish. Shout out to the mojitos which they brew in-house flavoured with lime and apples. So unique, we loved it so much we ordered a second glass! 🥂
Food and service were really amazing. We really enjoyed the mafaldine pasta, char grilled octopus and the foccaicia with tomatoes and cheese!
Also big thank you to one of the staff who gave free ice cream to my little kiddo! He was really entertaining and friendly with everyone! It was such an unexpected gesture and his service was so genuine, earnest and kind. I didnt manage to get his name but have his photo - big thank you to him for making this dining experience so memorable!
Will definitely return again ❤️
Fico is a great place for dining. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of this place . The service was great from the doorstep all the way to the end , thanks Steve for the recommendation we loved the warm focaccia and it was so good we didn’t manage to take a picture of it.
We had a delightful dinner at Fico last Friday despite the gloomy weather. Rain came and went and it didn’t make the alfresco dinner less enjoyable. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the focaccia was amazing, cocktails were creatively delicious and staffs were great, particularly Lucas who waited our table - super nice, witty and knowledgable. Also glad that the meals didn’t cost us a bomb!
Had a lovely meal at Fico and pleased to report that I found the food worth the hype!
Food is really quite delicious. Portions were small but one can taste the premium ingredients and the overall almost flawless execution.
We ordered one item from each section of the menu:
- san marzano tomato focacina was DELICIOUS. Warm toasty bread, olive oil and quality tomatoes really can’t go wrong
- the zucchini flowers were meh; tasted okay but the portion/size was really laughable
- red peppers were sweet and roasted to perfection
- the mafaldine pasta had a delightful chewy texture, and the ragout-like sauce was very rich and hearty, like a supercharged bolognese
- the octopus was one of the night’s highlights as it was chewy and almost meaty in texture , really grilled and seasoned flawlessly
- panna cotta was just ok but the burrata gelato on the other hand, was a beautiful dream of a dessert - sweet with a touch of savouriness ; loved it!
Service was pleasant, but we felt second in line compared to the other large groups dining out. Most of the team’s time and attention were on serving them, and I also saw the manager giving out name cards to those diners for future bookings. I suppose some PR is expected, but it gave off the impression that those kind of customers are prioritized and others less so.
We made a reservation 1 month prior. It didn’t disappoint.
I have to talk about their service first. It was impeccable. They took special care of our toddlers. Serving their pasta early and after our food is served, they gave them dough kneading activity to keep them occupied. Well played. Truly deserved the 5 stars
Food didn’t disappoint either as we paired with a bottle of white wine from Puglia. Went with the recommendations from Google reviews such as focaccia, octopus, fried scrimp, tagliolini. Throughly enjoyed their Mafaldine pasta. Texture was al dente!
Will revisit again!
We really enjoyed ourselves 👍🏼, super loving the food and service too.
The wife was very into the whole ambience of the place too :). And we had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday too!
Super special shoutout to Dave. His recommendations super helpful :). Friendly and attentive too!
Will defo wanna come back another time 😬
Every dishes we had ( I love the beef costata in particular!) was full in flavour and cooked to perfection.
Kacy and team were courteous and helpful and ensuring that our whole meal experience was flawless. We would definitely come back again for the food, service and the breathtaking view near ECP!
Fico, nestled along the scenic East Coast Park in Singapore, is an Italian gem that truly captures the essence of Italy. The ambiance is both beautiful and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal. Their menu offers a wide variety of authentic Italian dishes, but the focaccina stands out as my personal favorite. The fresh pasta is another highlight, showcasing the chef’s dedication to quality and tradition. However, the real star of the meal is the burrata gelato, an inventive dessert that combines creamy richness with a refreshing twist. Fico is a must visit for anyone craving genuine Italian cuisine in a serene setting.
Fico satisfied all our cravings this week. The bistecca was perfectly cooked and salted, and we enjoyed their handmade pastas. Do ask for their specials and desserts when you get there.
Elise, from the Fico team, is an absolute professional and a wonderful host. We will be coming back just for her!
Second time at Fico and really enjoyed our meal. Everything from the food to the service was great. Special shoutout to Steve our server. My family enjoyed our time here.
Really enjoyed my time at Fico! Food is very delicious and well priced. Loved the pork dish and the burrata gelato. Service was also great throughout but want to highlight- Athiban who was very attentive to my table and really went above and beyond to serve us!
I have been wanting to eat here and thank God I did. Given that it is situated in a good location and a nice view, Fico has a great food to offer. The price is also reasonable and you get a such wonderful service from the staff. Shoutout to Liz. We shared to her that I love cannoli but the burrata gelato is unexpected. Never miss this for dessert; you are welcome.
I had pasta ravioli and it’s delish.
Great experience and great food to share or to go alone for someone who has to work on a weekend.
The food was great, the staff and service was also wonderful. However the outdoor seating is uncomfortably hot for Singapore weather. It’s difficult to enjoy the wonderful ambience when you feel like you’re being barbecued in a hot furnace. Completely understand that noone can control the weather but would be imperative to put a few more fans/ standing fans /coolers around all the tables and for the staff that is also visibly sweating while running around!
Delicious Italian food by a one Michelin-starred chef in a setting that makes you feel like you’re not in Singapore. Food was really good and quite a number of items rather unique, probably from the Puglia influence. Cocktails were also great and overall a lovely meal and experience. Price point fair for what you get in terms of ambience and quality food.
A belated birthday celebration for my bff last night. It was a good 2hrs dining session (the restaurant limit to a 2hrs dining after you are seated). We go for the sharing (1 item each from the main menu, which you can see in the photos below). The Focaccina - San Marzano tomatoes is good. The cheese - escarole, pine nuts & olive we felt is so-so. The small plate - Carbonell mushrooms is good for sharing. The type of pasta we ordered is special, has beef meat. The mains - Charcoal Grilled Octopus would taste even better if after biting on it will have the Q Q feel. If you are going for a birthday celebration, remember to mention it during your booking, you will get a complimentary dessert - which we have the mandarin orange ice cream. We order 2 desserts for sharing - Guanaja Soufflé Tart & Vanilla Honey Panna Cotta. The tart is dark chocolate with sea salt which is good for sweet tooth. Panna Cotta is mango pudding with mango pieces & passionfruit + slice chill which they claim is for decoration purpose. you can choose either still or sparkling water and is $2/pax. We ordered Graperfruit drink (cant recall the name) & apricot kampucha. Due to my medical condition, I can't take grapefruit, so you may keep a lookout on what you can't have before you order.
5th time visited to Fico on 26/09/2024. As usual service and atmosphere is 5 star. But the foods get boring and no new interesting dishes. very limited menu to order and i would like to request chef to bring back the vongole with spaghetti pasta cos that one is my fav since day 1. Another fav is pizza and charred red peppers. Hope to visit again soon.
We had a Wonderful time at FICO today with nice cakes for our tea! We dropped by without a reservation and was promptly served by the staff especially Athiban who was very attentive and friendly. We tried their cakes and their Christmas panettone which was excellent. The foccacina was delightful. I will come back again especially for its superb service by Athiban and his team. Best to make reservations beforehand!
This is my second time in fico. This place is definitely the top choice for dining and drinks if you are at the east coast. The chef here is meticulous about the details when preparing the food. Service by Shelly and Lynette was great and we will certainly come back again!
I had an awesome time here with my wife. The minute I walked in, we were warmly greeted by Faz and Cairo who showed us to our seats at the alfresco area. The ambience of the place immediately put us in a pleasant and relaxed mood. It was breezy and we could see the ocean from where we were seated. The oysters we had were fresh. The San Marzano tomatoes Focaccina were exceptional. The Malfadine pasta was great with a unique blend of textures. Special thanks to Faz who recommended sparkling wine to pair with the food which complimented the taste. Atthibahn and Zen were attentive in making sure our drinks were constantly replenished. Thank you for the experience, I would definitely be back again!
Starters were good - had the blue cheese focaccina and baked tomino. Focaccina was not baked perfectly (centre was very wet) but taste was good. Baked tomino was tasty.
Pasta were underwhelming - had the anchovy orecchiette and octopus ragu. Anchovy pasta lacked the umami that I thought it would have. Some pieces of broccoli were a bit bitter. Octopus ragu didn't really work, sauce was thin and pasta was a bit thick and chewy for our liking.
Ordered a bottle of Fiano. Staff served it warm, but had good service recovery - apologised immediately and put in an ice bucket. Cooled in 20 mins. Had some desserts on the house.
Had high hopes for this place but food wise did not really deliver. Staff were accommodating and friendly.
A regular favourite dinner place for me. Great service, good food, nice ambience. Some items on the menu are not crowd pleasers. Go for their recommendations and you won’t go wrong. Try the foccacina with san manzano tomatoes, and for pastas the
mafaldine and ravioli.
The ambience was perfect for a breezy seaside restaurant. We dined alfresco, and were blessed with uncharacteristic clear skies.
The food arrived promptly and was quite sumptuous. It was a hearty flavourful affair. The servers were friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to order and explained the dishes to us well prior to ordering.
Our party of 4 was particularly well looked after by Steven, whose recommendations and gregarious, courteous nature added to the pleasure of our experience. We will return. Keep up the great work staff at Fico!!
I recently dined at Fico, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy feel. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, which really enhanced the meal.
As for the food, each dish was beautifully presented and packed with bold, well-balanced flavors. The standout for me was the ravioli, which was chewy and at the same time packed with flavours. The wine list was impressive, offering some excellent pairings to complement the dishes.
The only downside was the price—it’s definitely on the pricier side. While the quality of the food and service justified it to an extent, I think it's something to keep in mind if you're on a budget.
In summary, Fico is a great choice for special occasions or when you're in the mood to indulge. Highly recommended, just be prepared for the cost!
We have a wonderful experience at Fico Restaurant. The environment is amazing with a beautiful sea view that adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and presented. I would definitely come back again.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ambience of the restaurant and the location being next to the sea with a view was absolutely fantastic. I was impressed by the service provided by Shelly and her knowledge of the menu and her recommendations when asked of what I like and preferred. Every staff that even walked past were friendly and attentive... I would say it is very much due to the fact that the management would have put in alot of thought into the restaurant operations and training. It was a fantastic experience. The only downside was the smaller portions of the food. I am a BIG eater so the pasta amount was meant for exquisite diners! But hey, I ate 2 mains!!
A pretty place, reminiscent of Italy.
Food portion is small (def unlike Italy!) and taste is so-so. Price point wise, on the high side and not really value for money.
The great service is a reprieve and I do like the ambience. Doubt I’ll return though.
First time here and really like the food/dessert (special mention to the burrata ice cream 😋) and ambience!! Restaurant manager (Steve) & waiter (Chee Pang) was extremely friendly and hospitable and helped us to celebrate our friend’s bday :) Will 10/10 come again
I really want to love this place. Perhaps I came with really high expectations given the hype, I thought the food was okay, nothing really wow. Some of my faves:
- charred red peppers with anchovies is interesting.
- the fried San Marzona pizza is my fav!
- love the dessert trolley, went a little overboard hehe
Other than that, I thought the outdoor atmosphere was lovely! The service was average, it was difficult to get their attention and they forgot some of our orders. I feel like they’re understaffed.
Tldr: Great food, but ambience and service can be improved.
Overall, the food was delicious (5 stars)! The pasta texture was perfect, and the fried shrimp, cacio e pepe, and pork loin were excellent.
However, the service and ambience have convinced us to not come back.
One major turn-off was a group of 6 (then 8) staff members seated at a table next to us for their lunch break, creating an odd atmosphere. They were dragging chairs loudly, watching videos, and one staff member was even sleeping — in the end, they dined longer than we did! It was especially odd as leading up to our reservation, we were never able to reach the restaurant by phone and it was explained to us that the phone is not answered so they can focus on maximizing the dining experience...
This inattentiveness, combined with chipped plates and a long wait for service (including a lengthy wait to get our wine opened), made for a disappointing dining experience for the price point.
was cycling near east coast park so decided to go and try out this place. we didnt have a reservation so we walked in and thank god they have a table for us. ordered the moscato it was really good i liked it alot. the service staff did a great job in recommending the dishes to us and helping us understand what was the ingredients inside as we wanted to know more about it.
pasta was amazing and really fresh! the foccacia was 10/10!!! we ordered the octopus as well but it was a lil salty for me but the dish was really interesting as well. will i come back? yes ofc really good vibes and atmosphere ☺️
Focaccina pizza with San marzano tomatoes and I really enjoy combining it with mortadella bologna!
A walk outside the restaurant enjoying the sea breeze. It was a gentle and pleasant birthday dinner together with my friend.
The food was great, I enjoyed every single bite i took. Service was absolutely amazing, my waiter Zennard was extremely well mannered and served us with a smile on his face. Ate outside with a beautiful sea view and area was cool with fans above. Overall 10/10 experience, would 100% recommend to dine here and i am definitely coming back
Third time I came ✌🏻
Every dishes we had ( I love the beef costata in particular!) was full in flavour and cooked to perfection.
And I really really like the focaccia!! I'm not a bread person, but the crunchy outside and super soft inside, really make me addicted!
Cannoli is my forever favourite! And I'm glad that people I loved love it too!!
Kacy and team were very friendly, helpful and ensuring that our whole meal experience was flawless. We would definitely come back again for the food, service!!
Authentic Italian food, fried shrimp, pasta and meats. Great atmosphere, perfect for any celebration. Great service, pets allowed at outdoor.
Fico offers an unparalleled ambience and setting, with breathtaking views of the sea and an interior design that exudes warmth and relaxation.
The food at Fico is good, with the pastas being a standout feature. The texture of the homemade pastas was just delightful! However, the best dish by far was the octopus that was grilled to perfection.
What truly elevated our dining experience was the exceptional service provided by Shavesan and Lynette. Their exuberant and infectious joyous energy added a delightful touch to our meal. Kudos to them for their outstanding service!
Dinner alfresco on a fine day. Food was well executed from starters to mains. Service was slightly slow due to crowd; manager slightly pushy on the wine.. even before we finished our current bottle. Beef was nicely done, good quality, but nothing like the specialist steakhouses. Recommend the starters, pasta, octopus.
Hopped on the bandwagon since everyone has been raving about how good Fico was and joined the 2-month wait…overall the atmosphere was beautiful and well-decorated, loved how the ingredients were very fresh and premium quality was throughly impressed by how a supposed simple tomato salad tasted so exquisite 😋best dish will have to be the focaccina so crunchy, flavourful and delicious i love it so much!! the rest of the dishes was pretty good solid hearty Italian meal
TLDR: Good meal but imo i don’t think i would wait 2-months again just to dine here
Incredible dining experience thanks to the amazing food, atmosphere and stellar staff who run an efficient operation, despite having to navigate the challenges of sporadic power outages and a tight turnaround time between seatings.
Big kudos to the superstars Alfie and Ina, who went above and beyond by taking the time to chat and connect with us, even on such a busy night. Their attentiveness and thoughtful touches made our evening extra special, all while being unaware it was actually a birthday celebration. Alfie and Ina exemplified true hospitality and sincere service - showing guests genuine warmth and care. Their efforts elevated the whole experience.
We had a birthday celebration at Fico and the restaurant was fantastic. Special mention to Shabi who really provided the best service I have had in a while - from little things like making sure our water was always topped up, ensuring fans were turned off for the cake candles.
The outdoor seating was comfortable and there was a nice breeze. Great ambience with the lighting and music too.
The food though was good but not great better. We had a set menu (last photo). Fav was the prosciutto, and blood Orange salad. The pasta was enjoyable too and was freshly made. I liked the cannoli.
Nevertheless all things considered we had a great time. Would come back.
Casual Italian restaurant with nice foods.
First impression:
• Tiles are greasy indoor.
• Plates are chipped.
• Wait staff insists it was brought from Italy as-is but still replaced it with another chipped plate.
• Bowls are not chipped.
Cost:
$90/head without alcohols.
Taste:
Pastas are good.
Service:
• Water was refilled promptly
• Hard to get attention from wait staff
• Main was served prior appetizer
Lovely food and services from Fico.
I made a booking for the wrong date and they carefully accommodate to my request and provide a table for all of us without any hassle. My gratitude to the team.
Dessert is excellent. Focaccia bread is the main highlight but the rest was good as well.
Absolutely love the focaccia here! it’s my second time coming back and i’ve been thinking about it since then. It’s crisp on the outside n on the inside is chewy and has the doughy taste that i seek! The mushroom and grilled octopus were done really well. Couldn’t fault the pasta coz it’s freshly made. Portions were a good size for the three of us to share and try different items. the dessert were absolutely good n were not overwhelming sweet! Would definitely come back here again :)
Will return! Was great :)
Ease of booking
I only managed to only get a booking 2 months prior. So do take note if you want to make a booking on a Friday night.
Location
It isnt easy to get to by public transport. If you drive or take a cab, it’s super near carpark F2 of East Coast park.
Food
Almost all our dishes were stellar. Would highly recommend the following:
-Starter: San Marzano Tomatoes (it’s like buffalo cheese, tomatoes on bread). Only gripe is that the cheese portion was too small
- Pasta: Tagliolini scampi (super nice sauce that I ate the pasta on its own happily wo the lobster) I would recommend taking the lobster half cooked as per the server’s suggestion - didnt taste raw at all.
- Main: Charcoal grilled octpopus (the star of the night :). A must order! Cooked just right :) Please note the dish does not come with any carbs.
- Dessert: Choc tart and cannoli (very interesting concept where they bring a trolley over for you to choose your desserts)
Service
Service was good and it ended on a sweet note when they gave a free dessert to celebrate my friend’s birthday. One dessert was additionally on the house which I really appreciated :)
Finally trying Fico after a 2 month reservation and
I loved the San Marzano Tomatoes Focaccina that was
Crispy, soft and packed a flavorful punch.
Overall a great experience for a celebration or special occasion!
++ Would recommend the cardoncelli mushrooms that were a flavorful burst of umami (imagine vegetarian scallops) but might give the cacio e pepe a miss as it was a little underwhelming!
Not quite sure what the fuss is about but you would be there more for the ambience than the food. After all what’s there not to like about watching the sun set in a quiet part of east coast with the accompanying gentle sea breeze over a glass of wine?
Food was average at best with one hit and one miss. The octopus was the stand out - perfectly grilled with the crispy outside complemented by the tender inside. Flavors were great - tinge of smokiness and just the right amount of salt. The orecchiette needs more work - cooked a little too long and flavors underwhelming. The rest of the dishes were bang on average, not bad but won’t leave you thinking about them - Focaccia was nice but didn’t wow - a certain establishment in Joo Chiat can still lay claims to be the best in SG. Black pork wasn’t exceptional too.
Perhaps expectations were too high vs the difficulty in getting reservations and the hyperbole created by the media. It is just what they advertised, a humble place to savor the simple things in life.
Ever since our trip to Puglia last year and been craving for Orecchiette so when FICO opened, here we are. 😃
Important note
* BOOK in advance because it’s always fully booked
* may be difficult to get taxi because of the location.
Venue
Very cosy especially the outdoor seating but can be hot at lunch time so wear light. The indoor decor I felt is less cosy. We got seated outdoor at the corner bench seating with lots of pillows and that was perfect.
Food
Food was delicious and my favourite was the Pork Loin and Apple Torta.
Orecchiette : doesn’t taste the same as our trip at Puglia because it tasted more sour.
Burrata Di Puglia : creamy-licious good but wish they drizzle more Olive oil and better if the olive oil from Puglia.
Pork Loin : cooked perfectly and goes so well with the charred Red Endive which gave a smoky flavour. 👍😋
Fried Shrimp : very crispy and so crispy, you can eat the whole shrimp but however, I didn’t enjoyed the dipping as much as tasted bland but maybe it’s to balance / tone down the salt from
Shrimp but overall, it’s fine.
Pasta (Mafaldine) : one of their popular dish which packed with flavour.
Dessert (Apple Torta) : Delicious 🤤!! It’s not too sweet and goes perfectly with the fresh cream and definitely my favourite. 👌😘
Cannoli : wish it was with less sugar coating.
Service
Very good service, the staff all very attentive and friendly so thank you for your hospitality.
We will be back to try more dishes and I’ve been told to try their Octopus, mushrooms & burrata ice cream.
Can highly recommend, so far the best and most authentic non-Pizza Italian restaurant in Singapore I‘ve tried. If you want the best Pizza, definitely try Cicheti near Bugis. Staff was very friendly, although did a few mistakes here and there. Note that the drinks and wine are definitely on the expensive side.
Beautiful space and lovely atmosphere. Service by Steve is top notch :) love the focaccia - 2nd time here - it’s the best I have ever tasted and will definitely crave for it
Was it worth the hype? Absolutely! It felt like we were out of SG with its beautiful indoor dining space and breezy outdoor seating with sea view. Staff was really affable and warm too, and the food was a delicate ballet of taste and textures.
My personal favourites were the San Marzano Tomatoes Focaccina and the Denti Del Drago pasta. The San Marzano Focaccina was a burst of fresh flavours with a light and airy dough yet held a firm and crispy texture like pizza. The Denti Del Drago pasta with white ragu was interesting. Never had a ragu that's non-red. The pasta had a great depth of flavours- bold, hearty and meaty.
Amazing Italian with great vibes! Love the focaccina, al dente pasta and small plates! Burrata gelato was so good that we had one more to go HAHA. Friendly staff too!
Do make reservations!!
It's a nice restaurant. The waiter was very helpful in finding us a seat. The food is also delicious. The seafood platter is very fresh. The fresh oyster pasta is also very good, the noodles are a bit chewy. The prosciutto is not too salty and the meat is tender. Focaccia is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and goes well with tomatoes and cheese. The zucchini is also special and tastes very refreshing. Worth a try
The clerk is very kind. The food is delicious and the scenery is beautiful! I think I'll be back!
Shelly and Lynette were so warm and thoughtful! the food here is really nice!
Everything was more than perfect 🙌we’ll come back for sure!
The taste is very delicious and wonderful. I wish you success
