Reviews of French Fold Telok Ayer
Had an early dinner with our toddler, staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Special mention to Ms Dhewi ☺️. Loved the duck confit galette! Coffee was good as well.
We got the No. 4 ham, egg, mushroom and comte cheese galette (~$20) and No 12 duck confit, potatoes and comte cheese galette (~$23) as well as the No. 24 honey, buckwheat and hojicha gelato crepe (~$12).
I haven’t tried galettes before so I have no comparison to make but I enjoyed it. Toppings were evenly spread out, and the galette tastes similar to thosai.
Crepe was also nice and i liked the buckwheat.
The Mog Champ sends his regards.
Found this nice crepe shop as my hotel was in the area and we decided to come here for breakfast. I haven't had crepes in a very long time so why not?
Didn't have a reservation but we were able to get a table for 3. The insides look nice and cozy and it's a great place to gather for food!
I ordered a regular galette and we had a crepe to share as a mini-dessert and we couldn't afford to eat so much for a breakfast. Will definitely come back here for crepes if I'm ever in the area again! Thanks for the friendly service!
Mogliest Regards,
Your Mog Champ
Surprisingly affordable french cuisine in the heart of Singapore. Kid loved both the savoury and sweet options! $89 for 2 mains, 1 appetiser, and a dessert. Free flow sparkling/still at $1 per pax.
delicious galettes (buckwheat crepes) for mains and crepes for desserts! the no. 27 dessert crepe with valrhona chocolate ice cream is a must-have. service was excellent with very friendly staff, and we were mainly served by a sweet young lady. atmosphere was vibrant with pub like music which was complimented by the cozy restaurant setting.
service was super fast and each staff was very friendly 😊 the galette was a 8/10, there’s a snippet of thyme in no. 12 so take note if u don’t like thyme. the portion was enough for 2 ppl. the shredded duck confit was very yummy it was soft and easy to chew. i love the textures of the crispy galette + roasted potato + shredded confit.
for the crepe, no. 28 was the perfect satisfaction to my sweet tooth. if u r a mega sweet tooth u would love no. 28 🤓
the matcha latte was good but i tasted better matcha lattes else where.
pain au chocolat was good too, it was soft inside but flaky outside. perfect if u love pain au chocolat
All meals are awesome. Gellete and the salad are just awesome. The coffee comes with their chocolate bar. And Grace, the waitress is so humble and helpful.
Amazing crepes & butter (esp the original & salted butter) but what's even greater is the excellent service by the team here at Telok Ayer. Eve, Shao Kai, Gani, Grace & more. Thank you for making our dining experience here a happy one each time.
in my opinion, unfortunately the food was average (maybe not for my asian taste buds 😅) looks really good but flavours were not that amazing, felt that it lacked dimensions and just quite basic honestly.... or maybe the dishes i ordered were basic.
i think the atmosphere and service was quite good though.
What a modern cafe should be! Great ambiance, fuss free menu and convenient digital payment. Thank you Mari Char for great service too.
The galettes here are delicious, it’s thin and crispy to the bite. We had chilli crab filling, carbonara bacon and mushroom spinach filling. So many more variations on the menu for selection. The salted caramel crepe dessert is good too. Staff is friendly and helpful. We’ll be back to try the other flavours. #galette ##crepe
Food is really tasty!!! You have to visit this place. Highly recommend! Connie and Eve are really nice and kindly waiters 😍
Come back here again for sure
Excellent cafe. Delicious food. Thru have lots of buckwheat crepe options so excellent for those who need gluten free. Warm lighting. Kind and patient with children. Aunty looked after our little one.
Lovely little place we literally stumbled across to while away some time. Fabulous music, friendly staff and a genteel atmosphere make for a lovely afternoon. The food is outstanding. We had a good sampling of their fare as the photos attest.
All about crepes. Interesting flavours sweet and savoury. Good attentive service in a warm and lively setting.
Excellent crepes, cheese and service. Wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.
Unsurprisingly, French Fold has a laid back, chill music vibe as a French bistro brunch venue. Lighting is subdued, and the decor a good mix of earthy and exposed brick industrial.
The galletes are buckwheat and the dishes are a suave mix of rustic and modern presentation.
The staff are polite, attentive (and definitely not Parisienne. ^_^)
Quality of the food was excellent and the dishes very tasty.
The staff was friendly and the food and drinks were delicious. I particularly enjoyed crepe no. 23 with strawberry basil ice cream, paired with a delicious cider doux. 💖😋
This is a really unique place for savoury and dessert crepes. Never had anything like it before. The crepes were great - we had two savoury crepes and they were both crispy skinned and had great flavour from the filling. The menu is exhaustive and has an abundance of both savoury and sweet crepes. It’s quite a solid place for brunch and lunch in general.
Place is slightly small for larger crowds but it has a very nice vibe. When we went there it was quite packed - and it was also quite loud but nothing unbearable. The waitstaff are very friendly and attentive and food came out very quickly too. Prices are reasonable but definitely on the pricier side since it’s quite a unique offering.
Into crepes? Pay a visit!
Love their fold so much that I finished everything but before we order, the staff came over to explain/introduce their new items that are not stated on their regular menu.
Was too hungry, so only managed to take the fold I ordered 😂
Excellent dining experience all around. The staff were very friendly and gave insightful food recommendations. We tried two dishes, both were delicious, but our favourite was the No. 8 galette.
Highly recommended, and we will come back!
Super friendly staff. Prices were ok but food was just ok too. Enjoyed the meal regardless.
Great crepes! My favourite was the one with chestnut cream and mascarpone cheese. We also ordered the pear with chocolate one, with a side of chrysanthemum ice cream - highly recommend! The ice creams are from birds of paradise which is a famous ice cream store in Singapore.
Very nice crepes! Haven’t tried these in France before but must be decent enough to attract French patrons here.
Various types of crepes and galettes both sweet or savory.
We dropped by for dessert and it didn’t disappoint! We loved the original with butter and lemon! Hojicha version was also very good. A friend ordered mixed berries was nice but still preferred the others.
I will come back for sure but do hope the service is less grumpy. Had a male supervisor with dyed hair that wasn’t friendly at all in his approach.
We came to had desserts after lunch and it was a lovely and cool spot to dodge the sun. We had 3 different crepes and they were all amazing, the texture and the taste were spot on. Definitely would come back in the future.
Ambience: nice chill lounge place. Perfect ambience for a lazy weekend afternoon where you can see the sunlight yet enjoy the aircon.
Service: entrance staff is a bit obnoxious but rightly so - they are wildly popular. Service staff inside are so nice. Enjoyed their professionalism.
Food: they are so popular so maybe their food is good. Not my style.
Value for money: I feel like I’m paying for the ambience more than the food.
Glad that this place is pet friendly. Staff are extremely welcoming. Food tastes good, nothing to pick about. Portions are also decent. One thing is outdoor seat are abit cramp. Will recommend this place!
Maribeth was amazing. She was so helpful on what to order, as it was out first time to try out at the restaurant. Her recommendations was superb. If you happen to go to French fold Telok Ayer outlet please don't hesitate to approach her and she will help you all through out!
It was full house the first time I wanted to try and had to wait past 9 for a table. This time, I managed to snare a reservation at 8.30pm on a Friday night.
It’s very pretty with an assortment of layouts where you can people-watch outdoors or just chill with your best buds to chat up. We saw many ladies catching up with their besties. A great place for a date or just catching up.
The male server we had was knowledgeable and gave us recommendations based on our preferences and highlighted the popular choices. We had a cider, pot of tea and a choc crepe. Service was prompt where we were offered choice of sparking / still water upon seating.
I loved the matching of the tender poached pears with rich chocolate (and not overly sweet), light whipped cream and moist crepe ! I could eat this everyday! Will return to try the berries version next time and they had the option to add on birds of paradise’ gelato at $4 which is quality ice cream. We still hath tubs of it at home, thus we skipped the ice cream.
I hope the good people managing this restaurant will invest even more in manpower. You've got a winner potential. Gorgeous interior, great menu & "overwork" but happy staff.
The waiting staff forgot an item in our order. We forgave her but from the 8am opening; she & one other behind the bar counter were pumping & still remaining cool when recommending us the No4. Sautéed Mushrooms, organic ham Galette.
This and the Latte were both excellent.
The food never goes wrong and is very tasty. What I like most about this place is the service, they are friendly and polite. One of my orders did not go through and we only found out after we finished our meal. They were honest about the mistake and apologized not only with words but with actions, which I never expected, but I really appreciated it.
Get this recommended from a friend in singapore and it truly does not disappoint us. There are alot of toppings for the galette, but we choose the chorizo one and the one with trout. The chestnut cream and mascarpone crepes is also good. Coffee is also good where the beans seems to be more light to medium roast . Booking is recommended.
So glad this place is opened on Election Day!
Loving the atmosphere to chill and unwind.
I love #4 galettes and #25 crepe.
Big shoutout to Maribeth’s awesome service.
She is friendly and patient to answer our questions on the menu. Thanks for the recommendations too. 🙌🏻
My recent visit to French fold was a delight experience thanks in part to the exceptional service provided by Eyaan. She was incredibly attentive throughout the meal. Her friendly demeanor and genuine hospitality made us feel truly valued as guests. Well done French Fold!!
Great service! The staff and host are so friendly and welcoming to all customers. The ambience is great and the interior is beautiful. I prefer the sweet crepes over the savoury galettes.
My favourite is definitely the classic crepe with salted butter, it was so good that I ordered two. The wild trout galette bites tasted normal. I do not recommend the sardine galette bites as there is a strong gamey taste. Caesar salad @Merci Marcel tasted better than the one here, though they are the same just that it’s served in a galette bowl here:)
Nice place for a business lunch or drinks, with a French twist. The Galletes are the specialty, and they were tasty and varied in choice - something for everyone. We had some cider and finished off with the chocolate dessert! Nice way to finish off the week and look forward to relaxing. Service is fast and friendly, and there are tables both inside or on the street in the trendy and bustling Telok Ayah area. Close to the CBD and with a local feel to it. Great place!
Had our Valentine’s Day dinner at French Fold. The staff here (specifically Eve!) was really considerate. Noting that I was pregnant, she gave me alternatives to ensure that dishes that were safe for pregnancy (some of the cheeses were unpasteurised). Service and food was great. Will definitely be back!
My friend wanted to try out this place and I followed to see what's interesting about this place. I walked in the restaurant and loved the decor of it, felt like I was in between a bar and a cafe.
Without much information beforehand and just looking at the menu on the spot, decided to order a few savoury and sweet items to try. I was glad to see the food looks healthier as they used buckwheat to make the galettes.
The galettes were of a pretty decent size and good for sharing. They were nice and we enjoyed it a lot. The crepes on the other hand was smaller in size and you don't really get a satisfactory feeling after eating it. If you ask me I would think its normal and I would rather order the galettes instead.
Pretty fancy place to chill and great galettes to try. The egg benedict set was good as well. Loved it.
Love to visit this place before I start my day. Always greeted with a smile by Eyann and have a nice hot brew coffee made by Connie. Staff are always friendly. Love the croissant and coffee here. Music is right too!
Long waiting list, booked about 1 + month in advance and managed to get a table during a weekday.
Food was OK but nothing really stood out for me. The dessert we order looked and tasted simple.
Wait staff were attentive and friendly. The ambience is nice and comfortable.
Overall, glad I tried it but probably no need to return.
Best crepes in SG (to me at least). I was lucky to be able to get seats without reservation for Sunday brunch. Do get one sweet and one savory crepes as both are good.
Their coffee was extremely good as well and no sugar was required! They offer ice flat white which is hard to get in most places in Singapore.
Went here for dessert at night. Love the ambience. Very tasty dessert crepes with great combinations.
Went back in the next morning to try their savoury dishes. The service was really great and attentive. Like their caesar salad, very tasty, served only with kales, in a crispy crepe bowl.
Good service, food and atmosphere. Was in the area waiting for a meeting and so I tucked into a healthy granola breakfast. It was tasty.
Beautiful place and ambience was great. Came for some dessert after dinner so we ordered two crepes to share. The brown sugar and butter crepe looked unassuming but it was so good!! The texture of the crepe was perfect and the butter was so fragrant and flavourful. Definitely a must-try!
The cheese platter and other menu items also looked very interesting so I’ll definitely be back to try those!
All around fantastic team of staff.. so gracious and welcoming. They’re all attentive and ready with recommendations! Love the menu options and quality. It’s a vibe!! 👍👍
1. Coffees: all top quality. We ordered a Latte, Cappuccino and Mocha for the table and all were great. Tad warm rather than hot, but that’s okay.
2. Mains: Quite a lot of options. Personally didn’t like my Galette too much but it was a good try nonetheless. The Eggs+Sourdough were great.
3. Crepes: I will revisit this place especially for the White Chocolate Biscoff crepe!
4. Service: very good!
Had my staycation and did a morning walk. My boutique hotel is near Ah Moy Street. The place is like a whole new world for me as I explore the various restaurants in the area.
Found the French Fold during my morning walk. The place looked crowded on a Good Friday morning at 9am.
Decided to try out this place. I ordered the organic poached eggs with sourdough bread, avocado, pomagranate and portobello mushroom $23. A very pretty looking breakfast!
I also ordered the No.18 Crepes-Artisanal Manuka honey, roasted buckwheat seeds with Hojicha seasalt ice cream $10. Only the ice cream is unique, found the crepe too sweet. Americano at $4 tasted great.
Love the place more than the food, feels like I'm overseas as I listen to the music. A nice place to come over for a drink any time of the day. Love the deco.
Giving 4 out of 5 stars as I found the breakfast to be over-priced. Would have given 7 out of 10 stars. Tried nicer similar breakfast at $14 to $18. The crepe was definitely not worth the calories although the Hojicha seasalt ice cream was lovely.
Service was good, friendly and efficient. I was given a new set of cutlery for the crepe.
No. 3
No. 20
Espresso
🍜 Food wise:
No 3 was the Over sautéed mushrooms*, Comté cheese, and organic egg sunny side up. It came in cheesy and crusty skin wrapped with fragrantly grilled mushrooms which were naturally sweet and tasty. The mesmerizing runny eggs, flow just like my drool, lovely as a dip for the crusty skin or mixed it up a bit with the portion of the fold to eat!
No 20 was Brown sugar, butter from Maison Beillevaire
and to choose: Classic butter, salted butter, or lemon, it was said introduced that the lemon butter was very popular. After eating, one understood why, the lemon was really aromatic, smooth, and perfectly infused into the butter.
The skin was crispy and chewy
as well! The perfect sweetness of the brown sugar too!
Espresso served with milk chocolate. Very fruity notes, fragrant and it was a really strong espresso! So aromatic!
✨ Ambience wise: Great bar atmosphere! Nice dim yellow lights, perfect for dates or chilling.
🤵🏻 Service wise: Great! The staff was all friendly!
💵 Price wise:
No. 3 - $16
No. 20 - $7
Espresso - affordable!
Great crêpes atmosphere and service. Taste like home :)
Lovely restaurant with nice decoration and interior. The food were delicious and the staff took time to explain and gave their recommendations.
It’s my first time trying galette and I must say they make pretty good ones!
Highly recommend the crepe. The ice cream is from Birds of Paradise ☺️
The food and staff were both excellent. Had such a wonderful time. Would definitely be back.
The crepes are delicious and really hits the spot when you’re craving a galette. Pretty decent happy hour that runs all the way till 9pm too.
This place can get really busy so it's best to make a reservation ahead of time (as even then, they can be hard to book). They also have a dining time of aboit 1.5 hours.
Anyhow, this is a lovely place for authentic galettes and crepes! Been here thrice and they never disappoint. I always find myself being drawn to ordering the same things - No. 9 and No. 4 (I'd choose 9 if I'd to pick). The acidity and the sweetness of pickled onions go really well with the smokey pancetta. And I'd go with No. 8 for dessert! Oh yes, they have good coffee too.
Highly recommend!
Heard a lot about French Fold and really delighted to be here. Interesting choices of Galette they have; both savoury and sweet ones. You can order both actually. Portion just nice for 1 pax. Absolutely lovely service by the staffs. Definitely a 10/10. Instagram-worthy place for one of your cafe itinerary. But may not be something you will frequently crave for.
This outlet and the one on Orchard are my favourite crêperies in town! Call me basic, but you truly can’t go wrong with a classic lemon butter crepe. Their poached pear is also really lovely.
I have tried their galettes and they are also very good, great option if you would like something more savoury.
Was apprehensive of French Fold initially as it seemed like just another fancy cafe with over priced food. Tried it today and it was to my surprise how perfectly made the galettes were, the sides were crispy yet not overcooked to the point where it was hard. The fillings (especially the Trout one) was so good. Read a few reviews saying the food will not fill you up here but I came with a guy friend and 2 galettes were more than enough for us. Very good meal and will be back!
The food was amazing. Im having a great time here. The place is very aesthetic suite my taste.
Ms Maribeth and Maricar, really helpful during my experience dining here. Really recommend to dine here.
I was not disappointed. They accommodated to my request of transferring cheese from my crepe to my friend’s as I do not consume cheese. Crepes are generally not very filling, hence we ordered extra for dessert. Fruits were fresh. Delightful meal, definitely returning for more.
Nice coffee. I had breakfast here. Excellent taste!!! Very good services too. If you are near by, you may want to try. Remember make booking if you want to have a better seat 😉😉😉
Food was great and will definitely be back again! Great service and even asked us how the food was halfway through to ensure we were satisfied.
Food was good! (Not that I have a good sense of comparison since this is not a dish that is readily available in Singapore). In any case, still enjoyed the food a lot! Fries were surprisingly good for such a simple dish, as they were painstakingly hand cut and fried to a crisp, topped with salt and truffle oil to finish. Definitely on the pricier side, but for a unique cuisine, responsive service and satisfying food, the price you pay here is money well spent.
Pleasant eatery with friendly service. Food was a bit of a let down. The burger was greasy and soggy. Tastewise, rather ordinary. What was unforgivable was the damp soggy fries. Felt they might have been precooked earlier. Crepe was well presented, but also not memorable in any way. All in all, a disappointing experience.
Very good recommendation on the special menu. Love the ambiance and good service provided from Girlie.
Had the galette no. 4. Really good.
Coffee was made well. Smooth and delicious.
Definitely recommended.
(Took off a star as the plate was cold, making the crepe go cold quite quickly. Small thing, but has an impact. )
If you have a love for crepes, give this place a try. Some unique drinks imported from France can be found in this restaurant.
Very thankful to the manager Bryan and Girlie (hope I got the name right) for securing us seats indoors on a sunny Thursday lunch. Walked in for a birthday celebration and they were full so we sat outdoors. They managed to get us seats indoor once food was served and helped us bring all the food in etc. The remained very friendly and professional and it was very welcoming. Thank you for the amazing service.
Edit: adding more fotos
We went for the savoury galettes and were really awesome, the dessert too was done well. Will be back soon!
*edit: we did come back to try more flavours of galettes. Adding photos
Finally tried French Fold dessert crepes and it was a smash! Reasonably priced quality crepes. Their crepes are on the chewier side which takes some getting used to and may not be the first choice of many but I quite like the texture. Some of the crepe dishes here are deceivingly simple, like the Valrhona Chocolate 70% ($11, additional $4 for a scoop of gelato — I chose White Chrysanthemum) but it was so good I reckon I could finish another portion easily.
Also tried the Raspberry Jam, Fresh Berries, Strawberry Basil ($14) and it was good too! Was sour enough such that you turn to the wheat crepe to balance things out. Shiok!
They use gelato from Birds of Paradise and everyone knows gelato from there are winners so double yay!
Do follow me on Instagram @littlemissramensg for more food reviews!
Good food, cozy ambiance, and amazing service (shout out to Maricarl, she was the best, as well as to Girlie). Highly recommended, and will definitely be back!
3.5 stars. Walked in on a Friday night, surprise we got a table. Ordered salad, galettes and French pork sausage. Salad is in a edible ‘basket’, very interesting concept. Galettes is good but I wish could be a bit more cheesy. Sausage mash is creamy that made me can’t stop having it.
Amazing food (had the homemade fries, ham, cheese and potato galette and orange chocolate crepe. Iced oat latte was very well done too) and exceptional service! Went at 11.15am and there was no tables inside (fully reserved). Was seated outside and it was quite a hot day but we got lucky as a patron was running late and the staff kindly offered us the indoor table until they arrived. Our waitress (a middle aged lady) was really sweet as well, accommodating to our request to decorate the crepe for our friend’s bday and sang her a bday song. Very polite and friendly throughout our lunch. Highly recommend and will advise to book to get seats in advance!
Good choice of cheese and wine. Better to make reservation and has 1.5 hour dining limit per reservation. However the time limit was not strictly enforced in our case.
Though the food was on the pricey side, it was indeed one of a kind and very delicious.
The Galettes were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, with a generous amount of ingredients. It's the second time I've been back here and I intend to keep coming back :)
Crepe and coffee ♥️ Scan QR code to see the menu. Note they might be indicate a 'time limit' for your seating depending time / day. Area have limited parking. Multi-storey car parks in the area would be Far East Square or Capital Tower.
Love the galettes here! I’m vegetarian and there are plenty of options here. Super friendly service as well, thank you Maribeth!
Second time im trying a galette. Nice change for brunch. Good ambience and awesome service. Gotta wait a little while for a table.
Tried the savoury sautéed mushrooms crepes and hojicha sea salt desert crepes, pretty unique and tasty. The desert crepes is the highlight, warm sweet crepes with cold salty ice cream goes so well together.
Second time back at the French Fold and it does not disappoint. The number 4 and carbonara galettes were delicious and crisp on the outside. Coffee, although slightly pricy, was amazing as well. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff added to the overall charm of the place. This cafe has definitely become my go-to spot for a weekend brunch!
Quite tough to take a photo of a large brown square, sorry French Fold if this is an ugly photo! I think galettes are normally of a lighter colour but this one was real satisfying. The little bit of bitterness that developed in the buckwheat flour was amazing - very well contrasted with the richness of ham and comte cheese. The bit of vegetables was alright but it didn't do much in flavouring the crepe. I didn't realise I could add a side salad because I wasn't thorough enough with the menu - will definitely do that when I come back.
Good place to have breakfast. Variety of dishes in a comfortable and pleasant space. Friendly staff and located in a very nice area of the city and close to Marina bay.
Great French creperie near Chinatown. Varied choice of galettes and sweet crepes.
The savory French crepes are so delicious that I want to eat two.
I loved everything about the restaurant!!! Pleasant and sophisticated atmosphere, incredible service, delicious food, menu with several options and fair prices!
I will definitely come back several times during my stay in Singapore!
[Reviewed by IG Blogger: ef.foodie.sg] Chilled vibes cafe serving authentic galletes and crepes
Overall level: 4/5 ⭐
No 4 Ham, Egg, Mushroom & Cheese Gallete (SGD 17)
No 8 Spinach, Pork in Carbonara Style, Egg, and Onion (SGD 17)
Manuka Honey Crepe (SGD 10)
Galletes are essentially savory crepes, made with buckwheat flour; whereas crepes have a softer texture and are made with wheat flour.
Ambience: The decor here has a modern tropical vibe, felt like a relaxing cafe
Food: We ordered 3 items to share in total:
Ham, Mushrooms, Cheese, and egg - crispy gallete, the cheese favorite was rich
Spinach, Pork in Carbonara Style, and egg - again, crispy wrap, the carbonara sauce was creamy
Manuka Honey Crepe - in fact I like it the most, the crepe was topped with honey and toasted buckwheat seeds, pair with sea salt hojicha ice cream, the slightly bitter tea flavors with natural honey with the roasted seed texture created a perfect taste!
Gallets are essentially savory pancakes made from buckwheat flour, while crepes are softer and made from wheat flour.
Atmosphere: The decor here is stylish and tropical, and you’ll feel like this is a relaxed cafe
Food: We ordered a total of 3 items to share:
1. Ham, Mushrooms, Cheese and Eggs - Crispy Galletes with a very rich cheese flavor!
2. Carbonara style - Spinach, pork and eggs are mixed in crispy Galletes, and the carbonara sauce is still very creamy and delicious;
3. Manuka Honey Crepes - Out of the three, this one is my favorite! The crepe is filled with honey and roasted buckwheat seeds, and paired with sea salt hojicha ice cream. The slightly sweet tea flavor and natural honey paired with the texture of roasted seeds are so delicious!

After getting full, I decided to visit one more restaurant.
I was full so I only ate a light meal.
Galette is definitely authentic.
The inside of the store is also nice.
It might be good for a girls' night out.
The clerk is very nice! He carefully introduced various flavors to us!
Very good pancake, as if we were in Brittany! The welcome and service were also impeccable. I will definitely come back.
