Reviews of Gayageum Korean Family Restaurant
The food is too good, YOU HAVE TO COME AND TRY IT YOURSELF. The auntie is korean so its authentic!
Food is very delicious and feels like home cooked korean food. I ordered seafood soybean paste soup with comes with a nice hot multi grain rice which is so healthy and taste so good.
Side dishes are free for top up
Would highly recommend to give it a try
Came here lunch as we wanted to have chicken ginseng soup. It was flavorful and the chicken meat was tender and lightly seasoned. You don’t really have to dip it with salt. Their pork kimchi soup was ok but will try their tofu soup next time. Place to visit again for other dishes.
Good Korean place for vegetarians/vegans as they have many dishes that can be veg modified. Ordered the spicy cold noodle that was really refreshing but lacked the spicy element for me. It was also around $15 which is not cheap. That being said, the food was p good and they are very generous with the side dishes. One of the staff (perhaps the owner) also gave me a free soda which was so nice! So overall, would come again to try the rest of the dishes!
Homely and very customizable which is a plus for vegans/vegetarians! Naengmyeon is a must at Gayageum whenever I finish trekking nearby especially during hot weather. The jeons are tasty and in good servings - there's banchan too but not all side dishes are vegan.
Stopped by here earlier for lunch. Set meals at reasonable prices. Simple food, tasty, no MSG. I could even eat the meat on its own without rice. Run by an ajuma.
middling value for money, didnt realize we dont get to bbq our own food, portions seemed quite a bit smaller than shown
fried chicken was good
Authentic Korean food with very generous amount of ingredients. My son was saying how come there are so much clam to fish in his spicy seafood noodle. I love the beef bulogi soup and spicy noodle. I'll give a 5 stars had the hotplate octopus be piping sizzling hot. Last but not least, we love 8 side dishes.
Used to frequent Gayageum when my girl was attending Art class at Beauty World pre-covid days.
Re-visit after Covid relaxation and was a little disappointed with the BBQ meat.
They are not allowed to have BBQ stove for customers hence they will prepare it in kitchen and served to table.
The meat was overly-done aka quite tough.
And we consumed only half-portion and tapao the remaining portion so as not to waste food.
Fortunately, the steamed egg was still as delicious.
Ginseng Chicken, in my opinion, standard as dropped a little as well.
I also missed their casting of the "Running Man" on the TV.
Value for money lunch deal . One of the best Ginseng chicken in Singapore .
I love this quiet and well kept place. Came here 3 times this week because I truly enjoyed the food and the peace in this shop. Tried Saba fish, chicken soup and seaweed beef soup. Each time i had their purple rice which is aromatic and tasty even on its own.
My favourite is the chicken soup. This is the first time i tasted chicken soup w green beans inside. Unusual yet delicious! It was so good, i finished the huge serving.
The seaweed soup was yummy too and for someone like me who doesnt eat much beef, i find the beef tender and just the right bite for me.
The Saba fish was great too! Not overly fried. Just right for me.
Whenever I brought my toddler along for lunch here, he would always get a yogurt drink from this shop. I realised tt they give out yogurt drink to lil kids :)) How kind and loving!
The price is very reasonable too for its generous portions. I will be coming here often to enjoy a peaceful lunch. I will also bring my family and friends here next time! Great place to enjoy a hearty meal comfortably.
We finally got to try the food after so many months! The meat in the grilled pork dish and beef stew were a tad overcooked, but the food tasted very authentically Korean. Very good service as well. We were touched by their thoughtfulness as they provided a fork for the kid without us asking, and even gave my kid and parents complimentary drinks. Usually, after drinking Korean stew, I'll be very thirsty from the MSG but this place isn't like that. Was thankful for that. Overall, a very enjoyable experience dining there.
Authentic and homely korean dining experience! Service was amazing too with friendly staff that were very helpful. Food wise, the seafood kimchi stew was rather flavourful with lots of ingredients. The saba was fresh and the rice set was rather filling.
The shop is ran by Koreans so it's the goto place if you are looking for authentic Korean food around the area!
Food wise, I would recommend kimchi soup, fried chicken and their fried pancakes. Even though the price of the food is little on the high side but they provide 10 free and tasty side dishes for each table.
Per person will cost around $15-20 to fill the stomach.
I have been here personally around 5 times and will continue to come.
Went to have dinner here - yummy food and reasonable price! Ginseng chicken soup & boneless fried chicken (spicy) was divine 🤤
Its my first visit to the restaurant and it was ejoyable :) It has a cosy atmosphere with the staff being very polite and the lovely lady boss who went around chatting with her customers and gave us a free dish as it was my sister's birthday! All the food we ordered was delicious 😋; from the soups to the free-flow side dishes, they were all wiped clean. Even my father who is not a fan of korean food was satisfied! Food ordered: Seafood pancake ($16 only), Bulgogi beef soup, Ginseng chicken soup, Soondubu, Fried Chicken platter. Our 5 pax meal came up to ~$90 which was reasonable as we were stuffed.
Suggestions: Ginseng soup was on the lighter side, I would personally prefer a much stronger ginseng taste. Kpop can be played in the resturant?
P. S The restaurant is having a 15% discount on their fried chicken dishes (only till 31 Dec 2017).
Fantastic service, affordable price & the food was really good . 👍 Daebak
Love their kimchi & all the side dishes!.. family style. The good authentic food and worth the wait. Chef is the lady korean owner.
Pork belly rice is out of this world!!! Fried chicken a slight let down but side dishes and friendly staff made it soooo worth it!
Definitely the best place to have authentic korean food! but pricing wise, it's really too tooooooooooooo expensive.
One of a few good family and friendly Korean restaurant
Ginseng chicken soup super nice!!!
Home style Korean restaurant
Stir-fried pork is not as good as it looks.
The fish cake stew was good, but I ate it with spicy peppers.
It tastes good.
Good value for money.
